Talk also about pirates with their endless torment skill.
So stand still. It doesn’t take long to burn down a PvE enemy. Stand still and nuke em. Prioritize your targets wisely. If you’ve got 3 pulled, kill the one Tormenting you first. Use blocks, dodges, reflects, and cc. PvE really isn’t that hard. So if you’re having difficulty, see it as a challenge to overcome, not something to nerf.
A new first time player is probably going to be HIGHLY discouraged by these things and feel they wasted their money, and I can’t say I’d blame them. I’m not saying take the WoW road and just hyper nerf all of the lowbie zones, but there’s no denying something needs to be done about this, because it can MORE than kill the game for you pretty kitten quick.
I’m just sad to see that most of you look at this from such a narrow angle.
Honestly, it’s your view that is narrow. You’re failing to listen to veteran players telling you to learn how to use smart strategy and learn your class and even ask for help. Make sure you aren’t fighting enemies higher level than you. Make sure you aren’t pulling 3-4 at a time. Make sure you bring offense and defense. Make sure you dodge. A lot. Make sure you avoid telegraphed attacks.
You can’t say “there’s no denying…” when there absolutely is. I’ve never heard anyone making such a blanket statement about the difficulty of low level zones. Sure, “help me with survivability of my ele” for instance, but never “help, Caledon is too hard” or “there are 18 waypoints in this zone and 1 is contested…now I have to run for 2 mins.”

Keep in mind though that anything you’ve unlocked via PvP will be unlocked globally for your whole account tomorrow. PvE & PvP.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Aren’t the achievements associated with dungeons, jumping puzzles, and slaying different kinds of monsters already the “books” you’re looking for?
Exactly – they are already in the game…..
You could have a book called Bane of the Nightmare Court, which requires you to run each TA path, slay 1000 Nightmare Court, and purchase 1 full set of TA armor.
Thematic books would be more expansive than a single achievement. With the above design, you could really have a book for each dungeon, slaying ghosts, dredge, Flame Legion, Svanir, Inquest, undead, etc.
Other books could be explorative, rewarded for completing 5 DEs in every zone for instance.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
You can head to the PvP locker in HotM and preview all armors, including the Spinal Blades.
I’m at work so I can’t post a pic but I’ll try to later if I remember.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’m thinking warrior would be your best bet. Tankier with lots of damage mitigation.
What do people think about necro? As an attrition class it’s got a lot of range, minions for body blocks, and only a single F-key.
PvE shouldn’t be much a problem once you get the mechanics down. PvP is very movement heavy so it will be harder. Best of luck and props for not letting it stand in your way.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Yea, they’ve got that option. Best thing you can do OP is put them in your bank and then preview them with each of your characters. You’ll see exactly what they’ll look like.
Keep in mind, come April 15 that skin will be unlocked account wide so you’ll be able to apply the look to any back item for any character with a single transmutation charge.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
They could easily add a Books tab to the Hero panel.
I really love the OP’s suggestions. The Orders feel dull. You choose one for life and then do quests for them for like 10 levels and then it’s on to The Pact, your loyalty to your Order completely forgotten (until you’re armor shopping). I’d love to get weekly mail from my Order offering me an adventure for old time’s sake. Don’t make them like achievements where people feel obligated to do them or else fall behind, but maybe just offer silver, karma, and a guaranteed token fragment that can be combined to trade in for an armor skin.
Collectors in GW1 were awesome. You’d kill elementals for a bit to collect their lodestones, and then trade them in for a blue +5 energy axe. You’d get worthwhile rewards from collectors, things you’d actually use. GW2 could have collectors wander their zones, offering stat-less weapon/armor skins in exchange for 50 of item X, that only drops in that zone. It might even bring more players into low level zones.

I don’t think anyone is crying out that Mesmers are OP. They’re a counter-play class, but not as shut-down as I think players from GW would like. Especially recently, I’ve seen a number of posts asking for new Mesmer skills like Blackout, etc. In GW, Mesmers were a true shut-down caster class. In GW2, they’re a phantasmal duelist, causing player confusion at times but rarely shutting down an opponent. Hammer warriors are more shut-down at this point, able to chain knockdowns. But GW Mesmers cast hexes that made you think twice about your next action, and came armed with skills that had you guessing what would happen when you attacked. In GW2, it’s just dodge the obvious clones and attack the player before he stealths.
Just my $0.02

Here’s my input, for what it’s worth:
Rabid gear + Sigil of Torment + Sharper Images/Phantasmal Fury (trait) would give you a lot more condition application. You’ll have 20k health and 32% crit chance, coupled with the traits & sigil you’ll have decent application of bleed as well as torment procs. And the sigil should improve after 4/15. Trade Mirror Images for Phantasmal Disenchanter and you’ve got more regen and condition removal to make up for losing Shattered Conditions.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
That’s the issue with a condition build based on a single condition: it’s easily cleansed. When it’s confusion, the issue becomes more frustrating: go afk.
Dhuumfire shoulda been a Mesmer trait

1. More PvE focus
I hope so. I’m a PvE player and these new GM traits look to be very PvP/WvW focused.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Yea imo there are only a few classes that can really effectively run strong hybrid builds. Engineer, for instance, has a lot of conditions attached to its various attacks, and will drop quite a number of relatively weak ancillary conditions even in power builds. I’ve never found Mesmer to share this quality. Confusion can happen from various sources, but never with enough punch unless running a condition build. Not to mention you need more than a single condition to be truly threatening. So a hybrid Mesmer feels weak to me.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I run hybrid.
What does “hybrid” mean anyway? I keep seeing that, without any elaboration on what it’s a hybrid between. I assume it means a mix of two or more of the following:
Shatter
Phantasm
Power
Lockdown
Support
MantraCan someone explain what hybrid means, and how others can understand w/o needing to know more other than “hybrid”?
I’m sure there are plenty of exceptions, like if someone creates a hybrid PU/Shatter build, but generally, hybrid refers to a mix of power and condition damage.

Well, I don’t think Anet would ever add gem store items to the loot tables. But, they definitely need to do something to sweeten loot. As is, I tend to mindlessly salvage most drops that I can’t insta-sell on the TP for more than they’re worth. Open inventory, salvage kit, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, deposit collectibles, move on. Getting something else, some kind of variety, some better drop rates for useful items…that’d be nice.
What are you looking for?
Remember when you make your request that it can’t be something above the current virtual progression.
More skins. Every single light, medium, and heavy armor drop you get look the same. You’ll never get a green drop and go “oooh, that’s new, I’ll xmute that!” If horizontal progression and aesthetics are king, then we need a wider variety in our drops. Especially now that the wardrobe is arriving in a week, more skins from drops are (dare I say) necessary. A green heavy boot in Orr looks identical to one dropped in Southsun looks identical to one dropped in Frostgorge.
Bags & minis are also good ideas.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Yea I’d be completely ok with new terrifying phantasm skins. The attached image makes me think of kabuki masks and samurai and conjured pink dragons. Those would be neat for phantasms, but alas…we can’t have things that remind us of Cantha.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Exploration, gathering, and dynamic events.
Exploration is easy XP and you get it even in cities. Go into Divinity’s Reach and 100% explore it. In Queensdale, make sure you get all the POIs and vistas at your level.
Get your gathering tools (axe, mining pick, sickle) from a merchant and gather all wood, ore, and herbs you see. They give XP as well as gold when you sell them on the Trading Post. You can see the gathering nodes on your mini-map.
Dynamic Events are unique to GW2 and can be a lot of fun. They’re designated by orange map icons and text on the right side of your screen. They give XP, some coppers, and karma. If one pops up near you, do it.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Hmm…imo the only clue that really leans toward the Tengu arriving are the avian minis. But I don’t think they’ll be playable characters. That’s something that Anet would have revealed to us and marketed. It would be a big draw for new & returning players.
However, I can see them emerging from behind their wall in LA. LA is a blank slate more or less for the devs to work with. Maybe the Tengu will emerge and expand their little slice of land, fortify the gates to LA, and begin a new LS chapter of diplomacy and tension.

Love this idea. One of the reasons I dislike using teleport skills like Blink and Thief SB #5 is because of the extra time it takes to position the cursor in the exact right place.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I don’t understand. Why throw hundreds and thousands of gold into the RNG toilet when you could just buy the precursor outright? Do you really feel like you’re earning it by flushing your gold and hoping it regurgitates a Dusk?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
My post above is correct… right?
Major traits are the ones you can choose and minor traits are the in-between ones at 5, 15, 25. The patch will unlock all major traits (adept, master, grandmaster) that exist prior to the patch, not just the ones you’ve unlocked. Roll a level 1 the day before the patch and you’ll have them all unlocked after the patch once you hit the appropriate level.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’ve honestly never had a problem with any of the examples you listed. If things hit hard, dodge and kite them. If they have boons, strip them. If they are clustered, pull some from range. Open world is pretty faceroll as it is. The last thing needed are a few hard fights to get dumbed down.
The few contested WPs in low level areas are there for incentive to do the events. There are enough WPs in those zones as it is that traveling by foot takes 1 minute. Is not being able to port there an inconvenience? Or is it another event for you to do? Perspective. Visit Orr and tell us about contested WPs.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I like to spread out my illusions. iZerker on one guy, tab target, iSwordsman on another. Blurred Frenzy the group. This way if one goes down I don’t lose all my illusions. When you shatter it’s aoe so if you bunch em up you’ll hit em all.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
What? Why are they removing transaction history?
3 million players… 10,000+ transactions per player which include date, item, quantity, and price…
While i’m sure they love storing 100’s of billions of items in their database it is probably slowing down the TP trying to access them.
Does this mean those little bits of information being freed up will allow Rangers to save pet names???

I think dye prices will go up after 4/15. I figure prices will spike a bit immediately after the patch, and then settle a little, but will then steadily rise over months as the excess dyes are purchased from the TP and re-supply drops off.
For example:
Dye X today: 5g
Dye X 4/15: 8g
Dye X 4/25: 6g
Dye X 8/15: 10g
Dye X 11/15: 20gHow do you explain dyes to rise in price from now until the end of the month, when millions of new dyes will enter the market on patch day and demand will arguably be way lower than pre patch?
4/15 will bring something new. People love new stuff. And the account bound wardrobe means people will be throwing money at the TP fine-tuning their looks on all their characters, swapping armors and snagging dyes not yet unlocked. I’m just guessing that people who couldn’t justify spending 5g for a single dye for a single character will see it as a decent investment being account bound.
As demand goes down, so too will supply. But the supply will dry up pretty hard in a few months and so prices will go up steadily. New players and those with lots of alts desiring new looks will keep buying dyes, despite the lack of new dyes hitting the market.
I think these price projections will only apply to the higher priced and really good looking dyes, like Celestial and the like. The low price ones like Peach Ice will go down over time.
This is just the logic that justifies my speculation. It could be completely wrong. I’ve never been a TP profit player.

[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I agree with Menaka. The rune & sigil changes, coupled with 2h weps getting 2 sigils, will have more sweeping affects across all classes.
Also, Ferocity is what they’re calling the +Crit dmage stat, putting it in line with the other stats. Which means all gear with +crit damage will get a reduction next week. So if crits are going to hit for less, precision becomes less important. Though I’m not sure it’s going to be as drastic as people are speculating. Crit is still crit, and they’re gonna hit hard still.
