I get that this thread is a conceptual discussion, but is there a realistic time frame that we could expect to see any changes that may come about as a result of this open discussion? Would it be like 6 months for devs to make decisions and code and test and implement? Shorter? Longer? Or literally no way to know?
Through Juggernaut, HGH, and Sigil of Battle you’ll be able to stack serious might on yourself. Plus you’ve got Napalm for allies to blast. There’s almost no survival built in so you gotta know your fights. Notice the food though. That should help quite a bit.
I disagree with the specifics but I agree the with the sentiment. Acquiring a Legendary should be more than just hoping for a precursor drop and grinding away mats.
Earning one should require something more fulfilling, like a quest for each item. For instance, double-click the Gift of Exploration to summon the spirit of a great Tyrian explorer, asking you to embark on a great journey to do xxxx. Perhaps a task that requires you to visit areas all over Tyria to solve an ancient riddle. End point is a dwarven vault containing a piece of the Legendary. That piece gets forged with another 1-3 items gained in similar fashions. The tasks should require skill and effort, not countless hours farming and a large gold store.
I play with my camera zoomed all the way out for the biggest field of vision. What irks me is when I get downed and my camera auto-zooms in on my character like it’s some dramatic cinematic push-in on the hero. It’s distracting and reduces my field of view. Can it not do that please?
The daily is meant to be accessible by everyone, regardless of level. If you notice, they give us way more ways to get it than the 5 we need. A level 2 can hop into WvW and slay some ambient creatures and gather some copper and viola, daily done. Nobody should miss out on dailies simply because they’re new.
Not to mention, dailies are certainly NOT endgame. They’re a carrot for super casuals and a way to attain AP and laurels. Don’t gate it.
Also, if anything you’d want to increase the populations in the low level areas, not Iron Marches.
The primary issue I have with MF% is that it does not affect bags/boxes. It’s great when you kill something and a rare drops. Cool, MF works. But all those champ bags and event bags and LS bags….yea MF% does nothing when opening them. And 99% of good loot* I get is from opening bags, not random drops.
I hope it lies in ruins for a bit, giving us new objectives for clean-up and rebuild. Then it is “rebuilt” but differently. It’s no longer a pirate/captain’s haven. It’s a Tyrian monument to cooperation and triumph. It should become a unified city with real buildings and not propped up ships. The results of working together (as seen from The Pact’s accomplishments in Orr) along with a new danger on the horizon, should be all the necessary motivation for joining forces to create a unified stronghold.
Admittedly, the cores should have their associated colors in their description. However, if you’re going to craft it and acquire 10 of a specific ingredient…you should be responsible for doing the research. Sorry brah
I have a backpack full of skins that I can’t sell, don’t want to use and don’t want to delete just from rewards that I’ve received throughout the year.
Are there more skins on the Gem store? Yes. Are there more skins available ingame, for “free” than are available in the Gem store? Yes again. So, the majority of all armor skins are available without real money. Of the available additional skins more are in the Gem store than achievable some how at some time ingame.

Backpack skins are not armor sets. Random helms are not armor sets. I too have 3x dragon helms and a gas mask and several backpacks in my bank. None of them are new armor sets that I can fully deck out a character in.
The game was launched with a full complement of armor/weapon skins. Since then, all new non-ascended armor/weapons are available as either temporary LS content and only 1 piece (backpack/helm), gem store purchases, or from scraps acquired from RNG boxes which require buying keys from the gem store.
Other than that, we’ve got 1 new armor skin per type (light, med, heavy) via ascended.
Despite using the FT for it’s utility, it is my main kit. This is a FT build. The goal is to sit in FT Kit while might stacks are building up and burst skills are coming off cd, and then swap to rifle and/or bomb kit as needed then back to FT.
I think that’s where the confusion comes from. Most people swap to FT for its utility and #2 spike and then back to the kit/weapon they use for sustained damage or continue thru a rotation. You’re suggesting spending time in FT just to stack might, then swap out of it. IF might stacks are your primary use for Jugg/FT, I think there are better ways to stack might and still maintain effective autoattack damage than using FT.
To make a game that touts itself for having no subscription fee and having high emphasis on aesthetics, and then locking all new armor behind gem store purchases….make your own inferences.
And the best way to earn gold isn’t via challenging content and earning it. It’s dungeon speed clears and champ trains. I’d rather play challenging and fun content and get a good drop. It’s a rewarding feeling. Exchanging gold for gems and buying a common skin isn’t awesome.
The lasers haven’t been an issue for me when adventuring. They become a mechanic to deal with during fights, which is fine.
The only issue I have is when (as the OP said) I’m chatting with an NPC and the laser keeps focusing me. Once, sure. Haha dodged you Scarlet and continue with NPC dialogue. But bam-bam-bam-bam gets annoying when I just want to find out Peter’s story.
Best places to go afk are at the entrance portals or inside an heirloom cave.
I love the CoE chest piece for females. You get some shoulder exposure for possible tattoo showing off. But it doesn’t highlight your chest endowment. Try that out.
I bought the Scarlet’s Spaulders because I got the helm from the event and it looked great. Like Kaiyanwan said, fairly cheesey to have to buy 1 piece to match a free teaser piece. And for 1/2 the cost of a full armor set, I get 1/6 of a set. Couldn’t even bundle the gloves & spaulders together? Really? $$$$$$$$$$$$
At the very least, if you’re going to make all new armor in the game only available via the gem store, could you at least make it like the Zenith/Radiant/Hellfire system where we unlock a skin? Buying 1 is over-priced enough. Do you really think I’m going to buy more at that price? But of course, more money is to be made from Transmutation Crystals and BL Keys if you want to put that bit on another toon or wield those new weapon skins.
How much time do you need to turn in goods that have already stopped dropping? Use ‘em before the event ends. You’ve got a week to think about what you want to buy. It takes literally seconds to double click on all the items you want.
Same here. Killed those holos and never once gotten anything decent from the special bags. I get better rewards from the Knight boxes, though not by much. For such a long fight, especially if you count the lead up Knight fight, I’d have expected a better reward for defeating holos. It’s really 45 mins of time invested. And for a handful of greens and a rare. Yippee……
Environment-wise I’m hoping Scarlet’s defeat will break up the alliances and they’ll flee LA. I’m thinking the only alliance that may remain is the Dredge/Flame Legion, but certainly not the Toxic Alliance and I doubt the Aethers will go anywhere near the steam creatures without Scarlet. LA’s fires will be put out, the miasma dealt with, and the skies will lighten. We’ll begin to rebuild, but it should be different. No longer a pirate haven, but a Tyrian city. The Breachmaker will stay put for a while, just hovering there. Maybe it’ll collapse into the water.
But most importantly, I want answers. The cinematic showed us, the players, Mordy. But do any of the Tyrians know what’s happening? I want more than idle NPC conversations that I have to stand around and listen to. I’d like something more…more involved, more dynamic, more rewarding.
Yes: LA was trashed in an epic fashion and we’ve spent the better part of a month fighting Scarlet’s minions and saving the city’s citizens. Despite the bugs, the Assault Knights are pretty awesome as a zone-wide event, leading to a fun holo fight in the Breachmaker. And ultimately, though we prevail over Scarlet (which is satisfying), we are left with a cinematic of impending dragon. So we got that going for us. Which is nice.
No: I’d have liked way more answers. In the past, Scarlet has been incredibly clever & slippery, so I get why Braham shut her up. But I can’t tell you the anxious hope I felt when Scarlet said “don’t you want to know why” and the utter disappointment when Braham said no. It’s a video game. And we’ve been dealing with this mysterious LS for over a year. I think we’d have been ok indulging Scarlet in 1 last monologue before ending her. I’d have preferred me not stomping her but rather having to get to some control box to overload her personal shield and incapacitate her. Then Rox could grip her by the throat and squeeze some answers out of her before I say something clever that leads to her ultimate death.
Never thought of this, but it would be helpful to know if the 5 stacks of bleed on me are from a condition specialist (and will really hurt) or are incidental stacks as a result of crit procs on a power build (and can be ignored).

A single question was asked: “are they changing that too?” which requires a yes/no answer. The first half of the comment was a statement, which required no answer.
Has Anet changed so much since the days of GW that the notion of them making something for the game without making a profit is so alien? They used to introduce new stuff all the time that was accessible in-game as drops. Now it’s all gem-store & RNG boxes.
With so many CDIs on the forums asking for player suggestions and discussion, wouldn’t player design contests be a logical extension?
As a sort of bonus for choosing your Order, it’d be neat to buy these buffs once we’re full-fledged members. Alas, I think Anet wants our Order choice to be purely story-based and cosmetic, not advantageous by way of buffs. Not to mention they’ve completely given up on Personal Story.
Guesting is a bandaid fix, nothing more. Instead of telling people “Just Guest to Black Gate to do the event and get your achievements”, we should be telling them to Guest for now, while we continue to try to get Anet to realize the growing problem that the realm population is becoming.
Well…yea…..I don’t think anyone is saying guesting is a permanent solution to these issues. But it’s all that we, as players, can do until Anet does something to consolidate the populations. There have been plenty of threads open regarding this precise issue, so it’s been said. It’s out there. Unfortunately, if you’re playing on a low-active-pop server or are playing at off-peak times, guesting is the bandaid fix we’ve got.
IIRC, I think GW used to have “design-a-xxxxx” contests often where fans would design mostly weapons and sometimes armor and the winners would find their way into the game. I really wish GW2 would do the same thing. There are some really talented & imaginative fans.
Actually, the latest patch made the Knights fights a lot easier. What Anet did was eliminate the zerginess of the original design. I commend them for making a fight that requires at least some semblance of coordination. They then had to rebalance the fights, which has been done.

It still doesn’t help players who’s play times sit outside of the few hours prime time and as such still can’t muster enough players to complete the knights/ a knight/ the 6min achieve … the event needs scaling not insta health drops, but I guess it will help widen the number of single knight farming and a few more completions closer to prime.

Dooh.. look at the issue before jumping in .. guesting only exaggerates the issue across server.. where have you been for months and months.
You absolutely can farm a single knight.. because if you had read around the issues the event has.. not enough servers can grab 50 people on a singlew knight let alone each knight.. except maybe for a few hours a day at prime, which surprisingly doesn’t suit everyone.. the event does not take into consideration server pops across a 24 hr period let alone 12 hrs… and scaling is non existant so you load up as many on one knight to at least grab your chest … if you do mange to get moe than 50 you begin to filter them out to the next knight… its been happening ever since the patch.
Insta health drops will only help when sufficient numbers exist to be able to tackle a single or multiple knights.. unfortunately that isn’t proving to be all that common across many servers.. read the plethora of posting on it and map chats on servers… lack of event scaling makes it all but impossible to do anything more than tickle them most of the time even with 25% less health…the attacks and dodges aren’t the issue when there are so few in the first place.
Personally I am not at all bothered about it any more, I got all my achievs (excepot the impossible 6min to knightfall debacle) and a bit of loot Helm etc so I am one of those just farming knights for cores now add in the fact that RNG is fickle at the best of times in GW2.. people have began to loose interest in the event anyway and farm a single knight instead… argue it as much as you like but its a sad face fact because there is little else to go for.
You’re talking about a systemic problem and I’m giving a personal solution. The post said that he/she can’t accomplish the Knight fight because there aren’t enough people in his LA. Guesting solves that for him/her. You’re right, it exacerbates the situation for that server. But if there aren’t enough people anyway, what’s it matter? I’m not saying “everyone guest to BG!” I’m saying guest if your server has low pop or you play at off times (as the poster does).
And “farming” a single Knight is zerging a single Knight. Which is what was happening until Anet patched the content so that it can’t be done any more. Simply using everyone that’s in LA to kill 1 Knight if you’ve only got 50 people….I wouldn’t call that a farm. That’s just accomplishing what you can with what you’ve got. But the actual farming of 1 Knight was happening, where everyone would zerg 1 Knight after another, knowing they wouldn’t be able to win the event, just to get the chests.

I love the mini Peter idea! He absolutely needs an annoying quality. Like the only mini that auto-deposits into your bank. Or wanders much farther than other minis (like ranger pets do heh). Or talks so much his banter clogs your chat frame.
Do you only notice it on specific boss encounters or all of them?
Are you first to attack/initiate combat?
Your guardian friend…is his damage output too low (ie – not a threat)?
Do you ever stop attacking and kite to drop aggro?
Do you spec for extra endurance regen and dodge often?
I find that (obviously) knowing the fight mechanics always help. Sounds like you do. But also build for some active survival, namely more dodges. With a zerker build, I love Invigorating Speed and Infused Precision. Near constant vigor & swiftness makes outrunning and dodging a cinch. Couple that with a knockback or some soft-cc and you should be fine no matter the aggro.
Glad you could get an overflow. Not happening for a while on my server. This change favors big servers yet again.
Because guesting to one of the big servers might actually require an effort on your part. Oh my God, not an effort :’(
The problem is that even the “big servers” still have a 150 population cap. I guested to Blackgate last night and could only get into main once out of 3 event attempts. You’re more than likely going to get stuck in overflow anyway.
I’ve been periodically checking into this thread and I gotta say that if the items in Allie’s summary from pg 42 are being seriously discussed and evaluated by the devs, then I’m very encouraged. I haven’t added to this CDI because I stopped playing Ranger seriously so long ago I think my contributions would be more harmful than helpful. But I’m following it in hopes that my first and once-favorite class becomes my favorite once again.
Guested to BG last night. Only got into main once but we downed them. Actually downed them once in an overflow last night too (at literally the last second).
Haven’t had much luck in Yak’s Bend since they changed the toughness on the Knights. Guested into BG and ran it three times, once in main, twice in an overflow. First and second go we downed the knights but always at the last second. Third attempt we only dropped 2. So it’s still possible to do, but certainly not in under 6 minutes.
What irks me the most is that there are 2 new rifles exclusive to the hologram fight and the prices are going to remain high due to few people getting into the fight in the first place. Rewards from this event are based on a couple fights that have been so buggy as to make attaining those rewards very difficult.
