Another bug is the auto-resizing of our inventory panel whenever we change maps.

I too am really enjoying this update. It’s got zergs but not just a single mindless mob swarming a route thru the city. To succeed at the highest level, organization is required. This will come in due time.

I love the backpieces because they aren’t relegated to a single meta achievement reward. They have multiple tiers suitable for all characters. They have avarying appearances. They have selectable stats. You can have many, so it’s alt friendly. I like the look of the basic model with no blades so I’m gonna make an extra.

It’s not much of a grind for the back piece really. You’ll have enough stuff to make the exotic after about 4 runs thru LA.

As for the event, I’ve just been going with longbow and axe/warhorn for ranged tagging and constant swiftness.

The link above is the current warrior PvE meta. Use it as a framework and adjust as needed for survivability. Try it out with your PVT gear first and see how it goes.

I like the idea. As it is, the meta has warriors almost never using their burst anyway due to traited +15% damage at full adrenaline. New bursts would be a nice way to incentivize players to use the burst. Burst skills should be like signets. A passive bonus for adrenaline shouldn’t always be the better choice activating it.

Unless you’re intentionally going for aoe bleeds, if you want to autoattak for bleed stacks, you’re better off using Elixir Gun. It stacks more bleeds and weakness as well.

I saw him spawn when he was supposed to and promptly die in seconds when a ton of mobs plus a champion spawned on him. No idea how one is supposed to save him from that.

Is that the one near the lighthouse? I read that you need a group of players standing by at spawn ready to defend because it gets serious fast.

Unfortunately, I have 2 done and no idea which. There’s sucha chaotic frenzy I’m never actually sure which events I succeeded and which I failed.

It’s worth it. It’s a lot of fun. Yes, there are zergs but you don’t have to follow them. And to earn top rewards you have to spread out and accomplish many events. Not a single massive zerg moving through the city.

You know just below the airship is the Vigil Keep….and it has portals to all cities too.

Seriously guys…there’s an asura gate to Rata Sum in the Vigil Keep….that place already has everything pretty close together. In fact, I always do my crafting there instead of LA anyway. It’s like everyone forgot about the major racial cities.

The only downside of this change is that they didn’t make the Vigil Keep an instance so Gendarren is constantly in overflow and it’s a bit laggy. Still…there’s Rata Sum for crafting.

He made the decision which duty bound him to make. Helping DE was just extra.

I can understand Logan’s actions. But I can also understand Rytlock’s anger at being abandoned at their greatest moment of need. Rytlock and Logan had become close like brothers, and for Logan to choose Jennah over him and the rest of the group would obviously result in a feeling of deep betrayal.

I can understand Zojja’s sorrow over Snaff’s death. But to hold Eir personally responsible is stupid. Eir masterminded every offensive DE undertook, and they were incredibly successful. But their failure against Kralky was a result of Logan abandoning his post. Zojja should be mad at him, if anyone. War is war. Death is to be expected.

Caithe’s wigging out in the game is strange to me. In the book, Caithe was always the sensible one, capable of managing the people while Eir managed the battle strategies. I feel like I never fully got the story of her and Faoilin, and maybe I missed something, but her inability to commit to DE in-game from the start is odd.

Seattle time is more specific than -8GMT because I don’t think Seattle partakes in Daylight Savings. During the summer, my realm resets at 8pm server time, but during the winter it’s at 7pm server time. To say PST would be too vague.

create your own group with the LFG tool, advertising the truth of your situation

Not a valid option. An entire race should not have to suffer from weapons hidden within armor clipping.

Truthfully, I think the scaling of asura weapons is too drastic. A human female at the smallest height is about the same height as an asura at max height. Yet their weapon scaling is vastly different.

I guess I am looking for suggestions for builds that aren’t too advanced but still fun to play and will help me learn this class.

The complexity of Engineer, as well as the vast number of skills from kits that can be equipped at a time, are its primary strengths. There are a couple straight forward builds, but mostly for PvE. As the jack-of-all-trades profession, we’ve got the ability to do kitten near everything. WvW and PvP will require you to know your skills well.

Rifle/SD build is probably the simplest to use. Here is the framework for it. The crux of it is to use the Static Discharge trait with your toolbelt skills to burst an enemy, along with your rifle. I prefer to sub out Rifle Turret with Rocket Boots for more burning, an escape, and a blast finisher, but that’s up to you.

Keep an eye on the thread you’re using as a guide. Phineas also posted a guide here for PvE meta a few months ago but it’s still perfectly viable (30/30/x/x/x).

HT is our best bet for condition removal. And if you pick the turret up rather than detonate it, it’s a 15s cooldown.

Actually, no matter the build, laziness always results in less efficiency. This is true pretty much everywhere. Except naps. Laziness helps naps.

Change the world. Let it happen. The writing has improved, the reveal might be amazing, and a permanent change to Tyria might be just the thing to legitimize Scarlet for some. Her dastardly deeds have been sufficient to alter Kessex, pieces of her armies and tech litter the world, and she’s plotting to attack our major hub city. That’s a pretty effective evil-doer. To fend her off without any lasting scars would be even more TV-land kid-friendly. Realism is gritty and to win a war that’s been waging for a year should require sacrifice.

I’m down for Southsun City.

As for the karka, I’d like to see a giant wall built…like the one in the north in Game of Thrones. 700ft high!! No karka can breach it!!

I never liked Ascended gear. And I will never have it unless Anet vastly reduces the costs to acquire. All Ascended gear does is pigeonhole players into the single playstyle their gear allows. Want to experiment with alternate playstyles, builds, or game areas (WvW/PvE)? Too bad, you just sunk all your time/gold into 1 stat set.

Thankfully, exotic is still more than enough to accomplish any game area.

I agree that there needs to be a larger skill library. I think weapons need an extra set or 2 to choose from and double the utility skill options.

Also, it might be neat to have some common skills that everyone has access to, similar to the faction-based skills from EotN. Maybe we can unlock them at various key points in the personal story (but only until the personal portion ends and it becomes Trahearne’s story). One skill after 1st arc, one after 2nd arc, last skill after choosing Order. This would incentivize people to play their personal story.

I don’t want a larger number of skills at any one time, just a larger pool to choose from. WoW became overwhelming with a screen full of skills, potions, macros, and QoL buttons. GW was perfect with a huge library from which to pick your ideal 8.

this LA update has a lot of people excited thinking its going to be epic people are even making videos about how epic they think it will be (and its even bringing back old players for it and that is great) but i fear people expectations are a little to high because if its not has epic has they think it will be it will lead to major disappointment i can see the Anet hate threads now… i think the LA update it will be good and hope it will be epic because if i think it will be epic 90% of the time i am really let down weather its games movies or anything else in life..now that that is said lets kick that green beans kittens tomorrow bring it on scarlet

I’m excited about this next update with respect to LA, especially because I know that vendors are being (temporarily) moved. That makes me think the changes will be pretty drastic, if only for a limited time. Aside from that though, I have no idea what else will happen. I don’t think any new zones will open for us until after this Scarlet arc ends.

Roll an asura engi….smaller = less noticeable

Don’t forget about runes and sigils.

Altruism 2/6 gives 3 stacks of might on heal
Sup Sigil of Battle gives 3 stacks of might on weapon swap (or kit swap)

Generally speaking, I agree with the above.

Only problem I see is if someone takes the modified Accelerant-Packed Turrets and the new GM trait Reactionary Turrets. This would effectively give every turret 3 overcharges that can be used within 3 seconds: drop, auto-overcharge, manually overcharge, overcharge on death by detonating it. Too OP.

I’d recommend Bombs and Flamethrower until you get Grenadier. Bombs require the least traits to make them useful at lower levels. FT is unique in that it’s still useful as a utility kit without any traits. Aoe blind, knockback, & a long lasting fire field make it handy to bring along even untraited.

As for using grenades effectively while moving…it just takes practice. Remap your #1 to a mouse button for easier autoattacking.

I rerolled a level 45. No regrets.

But I’d highly recommend not deleting your asura until after you’ve played with your charr a bit. You’ll soon realize how big of a mistake you made

Warning: will cause clipping which will make both your back item and kit look awful.

Honed gear has power & critical damage. I like it at that low level because you tend to have a lot of precision.

Axe oh isn’t that great at higher levels due to having perma fury already and #5 deals lackluster damage. Take axe oh only if you need help keeping fury up and use axe #5 to build adrenaline.

Might want to think about trading a signet for some condition cleansing. Signet of Stamina if you must. And I’d drop SoM for Banner of Strength for some group support.

@seras there is a Ma/Sw + Sw/Sh condi build that uses distracting strikes. It might seem dumb without burning, but on those 2 weapon sets to have 3 blocks that will block multiple attacks. Guardian runes give a 1sec burn whenever you block. Its an interesting one, and its very effective as well. No one seems to run it tho

That’s what bothers me. I play this game a lot (according to my wife at least) but not nearly as much as some. I like experimenting and swapping builds often. I just don’t want to catch heat from elitist players that kick players for running axe oh and then see me running some experimental build and kick me because I’m not running the meta and I should go pro or go home.

The forums are a great place to have these discussions, but I don’t think you should ever kick a person simply for not running the meta, unless you organized a group specifically for speed clearing. I like learning from pros and will take any advice that’s given.

If you’re autoattacking with rifle for 10 seconds you’re probably already dead.

MedKit really shines in any build that goes deep into the Tools trait line. Reducing the cooldown on your toolbelt with 30pts in Tools gives you a heal of nearly 5000 every 15.5 secs. On top of that, 3 dropped kits for 1000 a piece.

It’s great selfish self-healing and works way better than HT while on the run, especially with Stimulant giving swiftness.

The main downside to MedKit is that it only cleanses 1 condition every 15 seconds.

Why rifle? It’s most definitely a power weapon, while LB has bleeds and burning and blind. Not to mention a much better burst ability than rifle in WvW.

I’ve been trying to put a Distracting Strikes/Perplexity/High Control build together for my newish warrior. And having read Cntrl’s post I was enthusiastic, having come up with something very similar myself. But having read Proxy’s rebuttal (and laughing a lot) I’m reconsidering.

I can’t see calling Distracting Strikes terrible when it’s basically the equivalent of the most OP runeset in the game without an ICD. Seems kinda strong, especially on a profession with so many interrupt skills. And coupled with Perplexity 6/6 it’s 4-8 stacks of confusion per interrupt.

And while it’s true that perfectly timed interrupts are hard in GW2, what with slower cast times on them than the skills you want to interrupt, Proxy said it himself that there are a lot of average or worse players in WvW. Which means it should be pretty easy to “guess” when you’ll need to throw an interrupt out.

I dunno…I’m a novice WvWer myself. But I’m trying to learn as much as I can. Is there a way to build a condition warrior with both Distracting Strikes for high condition application, as well as using the other “traditional” condition skills? Sword is a condition offhand btw, dishing out torment and potentially bleeding. Could a M/Sw + LB with Bull’s Charge work?

Aw man…didn’t even think of the conundrum of stacking confusion and then locking a target down, unable to cause it to tick.

Yea, I was wondering if I took too many interrupts. Distracting Strikes doesn’t show an ICD, even if Perplexity runes do. Also, I figured more interrupts = less damage taken.

I actually do have Sig Stamina in the build.

I noticed the lack of movement in this build and considered going with hammer + sw/sh but the mace really has very nice defense (weakness, block, interrupt). I hadn’t even considered dropping hammer, but maybe that’s the key.

I can’t decide which utility I’d drop; Kick has a low CD, Bull’s Charge has mobility.

30 into Strength was for the reduction on physical utilizes, which I considered important for the interrupts and the mobility. If I drop one of those though, yea, I’ll probably move the pts to Arms, especially if I drop hammer for sword.

The points you put into your trait lines should be completely dependent on the actual traits you choose, and not based on the stats they give. Putting 30pts into Wilderness Survival is all about choosing 3 strong traits from that line.

Which traits did you take from each line?

Engineer

I’d try different places for each armor. Silvery metal armor will look awesome in Wayfarer’s snow, but gold dyed metal might look better in the heart of Mt Maelstrom.

Magic-based classes are always more visually stunning. Clothies (casters), Engineer (fire & ’splosions), and guardian (magic melee) will be your most visually appealing classes.

Also, try rolling an asura, as their attack animations are much more lively than other races.

There’s also the option of guesting

For open world, try guesting to another server with a higher and more active population. You may find certain servers work for you better at specific times.

Dungeon finder is cross realm and WvW you’re locked into representing your server unless you do an actual transfer. But hopefully guesting can solve your open world loneliness issues.

Fairly new to warrior. One thing that made me roll one is the wide array of traits and weapons that make for a large variety of builds. Thinking of giving this a try in WvW:

With Perplexity runes and Distracting Strikes, I’ll be loading people up with Confusion non-stop. Both weapon sets have 3 interrupts, plus the 2 utilities, which means reapplying confusion will be a cinch. Not using sword so all my conditions will be from interrupts and runes/sigils.

Also, lots of cc and toughness should keep me alive.

I’m not a seasoned WvWer, but I’m hoping this build and warrior’s inherent heartiness will give me a good shot at being successful in small groups.

Thoughts? Advice?
