What if… Keys were a PvP track reward?

Nice Idea! Please add them as a dungeon completion reward also (for those of us who do not play PvP).

Change the dungeons to have all paths active at once and it all has to be completed | Vanquished | Cleared for the end chest to contain a Black Lion Key XD

That way it takes as much or more time as a low level key farm, removes server strain from character creations, improves dungeons so that are not “run” but Vanquished (like gw1 Vanquishing reward), improves dungeons to be more desirable.

I had more precursor drops than key drops ;p

That has been the problem since the key drop rate change prior the September 15, 2015 Patch. The keys are said to have “Extremely rare drop from foes”. Originally they were listed as a Rare drop.

It would be nice if they were a Rare drop or at least the same as an exotic item drop. As it is now they drop less than a precursor. By Drop, crafted from Forge is included. It would make us all happy if the drop rate was 50-75% it was for 1st year.

We can only hope they will be a chest addition to RAID’s or some other special reward in HoT. I have boosted my MF to over 300 and farmed both lower level and high level maps for an hour each with no key and multiple rare item drops.

Please increase drop rate for keys more

it does work on the owner (I tested it just now to make sure)

I am not sure why it was not working earlier when I made the post. It was not providing either the nourishment or sugar rush icons or effects. It is however currently working now.

Other nourishment’s over ride it, but it does not over ride or combine with other nourishment’s.

Thanks for checking

Why was the Birthday Blaster changed to work on allies only and not the owner?

Doesn’t make much of a birthday gift if you have to use it on some one else! Please change it back to working on the owner and allies not just allies!

I did not get a key with my level 40 rewards when I tried it the first time those +30 scrolls came out. So as far as I know the level 40 key reward is not 100% as the the level 10 key is. Granted it could have been a bug?

The other issue is that it takes 45m (the way I farm them, I use map to level) to get a key start to finish from level 10 vs unknown (maybe 1h given xp takes longer to gain at higher levels) time for farm at level 40 and that’s IF you get the key.

Honestly I think its a good change, presuming Arena-net have properly balanced key drop rates all this means is the same amount of keys will be in existence, they will just be spread out among players alot more, and overall that’s a very good thing, I can actually now get keys doing content that is fun

Of course that is a big IF since we don’t know the details on the drop rates, like how often and where

Agreed!

Do people really think the increased drop rates are going to make up for it? Not that I keyfarm a lot anymore (not since they changed it to have a level requirement) so it won’t really impact me, but people thinking that they’ll get more keys from just doing regular content are out of their gourds. They could double, triple, even raise the chance by 500% and it won’t even be noticeable because the chance is so small.

Actually yes I am hopeful the drop rate returns to what it was in the first year! In the first year I had over 40 keys and over 80 chests! All doing just normal play, events, mobs, champions, world bosses. That was FANTABULOUS! After the second change they made to the drop rate a while back they have all but disappeared and seemed to drop less often than a precursor would. Hence the volume of players that took to key farming.

WOW!! This is a bummer if they do not drop much more frequently! I understand the hit the servers are taking from all the chars being created, re-created and raced to level 10 Story hit then do it again. That is only because the keys drop rate is just as infrequent as a precursor is! If the drop rate is increased to something more like it was in the first year then that will be an AWESOME change. One I am sure most of us will be happy with. Since in the first year you used to get 1 key for every 2 chests.

Please Please Please Please Please Please Please ! Make the Keys a Rare drop not an extremely haven’t seen one in a year drop rate!! Have them drop from Rare Loot bags and higher, add them to world boss bonus reward chest, create events that reward them!? The only reason I farmed was because since year 2 & 3 I have had 1 key drop.

I am absolutely willing to trade my key char in for a perma level 80 char as long as the keys are truely a “rare” drop and not rivaling that of a precursor.

One key in two years with an average of 200+MF is not remotely close to fair.

We have no reason to say the story is going to be short and we no reason to say the story is not going to be short, we can only wait and see.

I did not read that it was asked only about the story length?
“is heart of thorns going to be very short?”

That is everything that comes with HoT not just the story line. As my previous post notes, there is a lot of material | content coming out in October. I presume the story part will be short, to start with, and then added to approximately every 2 weeks as they did in the past with the Living World.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Seth Moonshadow.2710

Well, the map we know of, Verdant Brinks is a little larger than Dry Top and Silverwastes put together and has 2 additional layers or Biomes presumably the same size. Plus at least 2 other maps, one for each Guild Hall, and this is only the ones we know of. WE know there will be a few more maps as posted by the guild Wars team and Colin. Some one posted a reddit comment (sorry can’t find it right now) that was a nice list of items coming out with HoT. It appears to be quite a bit when looked at from that perspective.

Here is a copy of that list:
4 maps, some containing 3 “biomes” – all containing many new events
New races of npcs and monsters
Repeatable adventures with leaderboards
Map bonus reward system
1 profession
9 specializations
New Personal Story
Living World releases including Living Story S3
2 new armor sets per weight (from the open world)
5 weapon sets
Legendary armor
New legendary weapon set
Legendary back pieces
60 new item skins, miniatures and more
7 mastery tracks with 39 tiers
Precursor crafting
1 raid with 3 wings
2 Guild Halls with 6 core buildings and over 175 decorations including a customizable PvP arena
New guild armor and weapon sets
New PvP gamemode with new map
Guild teams and leaderboards
PvP leagues
10 New PvP reward tracks
New WvW borderland
New fractal system, rewards and 50 more levels
More unmentioned or smaller features and updates

All that leads me to think it will take a little while to get through. If your going to do it all that is. Mastery’s will take a little, not sure how much to unlock them all 100%. But you can bet it won’t be in just a couple of days. Guild Wars 2 Team is giving us 3 weeks (approximately) to get our mastery’s leveled some before installing RIADs. After 20hrs of BWE my mastery’s have only 3 left on glider, 3 left on itzle, and 1st unlock for Nuhoch and Exalted. That’s not hunting XP gain and does not include the Tyrian Mastery’s. So maybe at least 3 or 4 weeks?

[Suggestion] Lore Based Playable Story Line

in Lore

Posted by: Seth Moonshadow.2710

Seth Moonshadow.2710

Well, the Story Journal covers that for Living World Season 2 and in the future My Story and Living World Season 1, since they are/will be repeatable. Each event basically tells it’s story through the event and the npc’s (if you talk to them or stick around to hear thier banter). HoT will have more to add to the Story Journal.

While it would be nice to have a “codex” for everything in the game I think the wiki helps cover that.

What we don’t have is more story line based game play for those who have finished LWS1, My Story & HoT story line (once it is out). Who knows when the next expansion will be or if there will be one!? It is clear they want more players in the world. One way to accomplish that and provide depth of character, engaging back story wold be to have “mission packs” based off lore of the short story guild npc’s and foes. It also provides a fast method of “keep them coming back” by releasing those short story lines for players that have done the story and leave the game while waiting for the expansion.

“Looking forward” once HoT is out and a month later when most have finished the story line from it, there will be another “dry spell”. Players who have returned will once again leave after becoming “bored” because there is no story and no sign of one being released. Have some small playable, repeatable back story for Mr.Sparkles, Braham, Rox, Taimi, Ellen Kiel, Marjory, Magnus, Evon Gnashblade, Moto, Kasmeer and best of ALL Mad King Thorn! For those of us that will be sticking around

[Suggestion] Lore Based Playable Story Line

in Lore

Posted by: Seth Moonshadow.2710

Seth Moonshadow.2710

Not sure if this belongs here or in Living World forum?

Guild Wars & Guild Wars 2 is rich in lore and history. Why not have in game playable content based on lore? Have it like the personal story and in packs for say 200 – 400 Gems? Have them based on the Lore Short Stories and go more in depth with those characters tying them in to the Living World, our Personal Stories & Map locations. Creating a complete picture of Tyria and what has transpired.

I am a PvE’r 99.9% of the time and participate in WvW | PvP | Mists (Fractals or WvW) only when dailys require it or I need more Badges of Honor. I have enjoyed playing our personal stories, the living world stories and look forward to HoT stories. After all is said and done, HoT story line is finished, I’ve done Map Completion, my personal story is done I will still look to PvE for continued game play or content. Others will turn to WvW | PvP | Mists (Fractals or WvW) or dungeons. I understand it has been said, and I see the beginnings of it already, that we will get to replay our personal story in the future along with Living World Season 1.

Yes there are the events! I am sure I have not done 100% of the events. Some because I never see them, or they need more help than can be mustered. While the events tell smaller stories of what is going on they lack rich story line elements. Hopefully HoT changes will improve when some elusive events spawn.

I think playing these short stories as in game stories would be awesome and provide a stronger bond between our new npc guild members. As I said, just a suggestion

Bouncing Mushrooms cannot fail

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Seth Moonshadow.2710

Seth Moonshadow.2710

Agreed. I encountered a few different variations of issues with Bouncing Mushrooms I forgot to mention in my BWE1 Feedback.

I agree that if the Mushrooms are targeted and they are to have a set path then we should not take any damage from a failed bounce. It should return us to the starting mushroom for a retry.

If the mushrooms are to simply provide a means by which to simply bounce (as the
Wind Crystal does) then we should be able to influence our trajectory. Fails will be our own.

In either case we should not be pushed back (to fall to our deaths), tossed beyond the location into certain doom or frozen once safely landed as if held immobile by an unseen enemy. Also, it would be nice if it would actually provide the propulsion to be lifted above the intended landing location rather than hitting our heads on an invisible outcropping.

Hope those get fixed because it sure is fun using the alternate methods of travel (gliding, speeding, bouncing) in verdant Brinks. I wish it could be usable in ALL of Tyria XD I’m gonna have more than my share of “Ooops, forgot! Glider doesn’t work here!” moments when HoT comes out. I have already fallen to my death thinking I had my glider during BWE1. T.T

BWE1 Feedback Part 4

Additional Comments:

Dynamic Event Changes:
We really liked the way some events were changed to be more Tequatl / Triple Trouble -esque. The Event Colossal Vine needing coordination by 1) defending snipers so they could do their jobs, 2) holding one location so another could fire mortars. Was a very welcome change from the normal defeat this foe, defend this person or escort this thing. Engaging events don’t need to all be Tequatl / Triple Trouble. But simply adding a step or two of coordination will help in many ways other than just changing the norm. It established a PvE use for Commander Tags (other than here is an event we are doing), promotes cooperation and community building. More of these events should be added to the rest of Tyria!! Awesome work!!!

Beasts:
We noticed some beasts had more player-like maneuvers. Having them dodge and use skills that players use, combined with foe abilities makes them more fun to combat.

Audio:
We noticed a few new sounds to the game! We really like the Tempest sound effects. We enjoyed the ambient sounds of the map as well, very nice! Can’t wait to hear more!!

Map Completion & XP:
Not sure if this was intended. We took a short trip to Rata Sum to grab some XP Boosters to help level our Mastery’s. After WPing in we found a nice shiny bouncy map completion chest! After grabbing our gear and WPing back to Verdant Brinks we opened the chests for a wonderful 27k XP reward! So naturally we then visited each map that was completed. This helped level at least ¾ of Mastery Track! So THANK YOU for the bonus XP for getting started on Mastery’s
Thank You Colin and Rubi for the reminder to gather nodes! We had chosen at first to bypass them, knowing we could not keep the materials. Gathering helped by providing between 802 – 1600 XP.

It seems bugged events kept us from earning XP – eg: would like to see the Itzel larvae event work from start to finish. Weren’t there more small-scale events in the Revenant beta test?

Closing:
We really had loads of fun playing the Revenant & all four Elite Specializations. They give new life, if not new roles, to existing characters we have come to enjoy and love!

The Map Bonus Reward System is a nice plus but could use some improvement to drops.

Adventures, while fun, did pose some challenges, though placement on the leaderboard would not be enough for us to keep repeating them. Maybe add Map Bonus Rewards as part of a repeat reward (assuming they player already placed high enough to receive a mastery point) and you can bet you’ll find me there many times!

Masteries are a reason to love my leveling bar again and provide fun and unique rewards for doing so. I can only imaging future additions to the Mastery system. It was a little slow to level, but I figure that was by design and we are fine with that. After all. we should not get them in 2 days right?

Adding cooperation and teamwork to the events was a very welcome and fun change to the standard events. It brings the Dynamic to Dynamic Events!!

Can not wait until BWE2 and release of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns!!

BWE1 Feedback Part 3

Does it feel like it will help keep the core world we’ve built today still a place you’ll want to return to and play in, and do you feel rewarded for doing so?

Answer A – A little, and a little. Though we are mostly PvE players, the new Map Bonus Reward System really helps us to collect those materials wanted most in inventory. While crafting ascended armor, materials for Bolts of Damask have been quite elusive. The New Map Reward System helps us in being able to focus on materials we want most while enjoying events in Tyria. We like that the Next Reward is kept while moving between maps We like that it will rotate between maps each week (we are okay even if it is a daily rotation, maybe with daily Event Completer?). We like that Map Bonus Rewards are also Event Bonus Rewards! If this remains true for the Map Bonus Rewards System across all events in Tyria then Answer B below is negated and our answer changes to: Very Much So!

Answer B – Unfortunately, not enough to choose over existing material farming methods. It needs to be more frequent or be awarded per event. We would rather a rotation list instead of a random item from the list. We keep getting drops we don’t want or need vs the rewarding drops we want for working to our ascended or legendary. For example after 6 events I only had 3 Shiny Baubles, the next two events rewarded 1 Onyx Core. 8 events for 1 desired drop is not quite enticing enough; better would be half that: 4 events for 1 desired drop. Absolutely, it would be rewarding enough to make sure and hit all maps again! On the other hand, our BWE characters did not have personal story or map completion done, so they did not have an event locator to make use of, drastically increasing the time between rewards vs. a character who could Event hunt (having completed Personal Story and 100% of the world).

BWE1 Feedback Part 2

Do you find yourself wanting to change your skills and traits to overcome encounters?

On occasion, yes.

We’re looking for comments on how well Adventures help accomplish the goals we set out for them here.

As a competitive part of PvE it definitely adds challenge to achieving the Silver or Gold. They are a unique game play feature and can be made easier with some mastery tracks completed. Many of us PvE’rs appreciate that you have the bronze achievable (if it provides a mastery point?) for those of us not into the competitive play realm, some of us are here for the fun not the Hard Core challenge. We do appreciate the Adventure Systems uniqueness and look forward to trying more. We have already witnessed Adventures being dropped for easier ones in order to acquire Mastery points. We noticed how players quickly took playing the easier more achievable Adventures rather than attempting more “challenging” / harder Adventures. Some players are older and slower, have older / minimum requirement computers, slower internet connections among some of the reasons.

That being said, we both took Gold on Salvage pit after a couple tries and I was just 5 shy of taking Silver on Airstrike after 4 tries.

Does night feel different from the daytime?

Yes. Daytime is much safer to roam freely solo vs Night. Like Dry Top, it is nice to have events change with the day and night; this offers variety and avoids feeling like grinding. The alternating events for day and night is something that should be added to all maps including the starter zones. It is a welcome change to the world and adds some replayability to maps.

Does it change the way you play while night is active?

It does. We tend to remain in the area when Night falls and do not do as much traveling alone. Or we find a location with more players hanging about. There is a clear increase of volume to beasts around events mostly at night.

Is the nighttime meta-event experience that we’ve shown so far engaging and fun?

Yes.

Does the Mastery system feel like a system that works to provide meaningful progression?

We feel it does a decent job for what it was designed to do. It gives us a reason to look at our XP bar again and a use for all those XP Boosters we saved up:). It would be nice if there was only one “Region” instead of two. Mainly since the balance of earning points for each is difficult to see (from a player’s perspective) right now.

Does it make you care about experience and Mastery points?

Experience more so than mastery points. It seems in-line with existing leveling for level 80 characters, not too fast and not so slow. It did take longer to earn mastery unlocks this time compared to last. Event hunting will be needed far more than before as beasts do little to help level masteries. We noticed Writs of Experience do not affect Mastery leveling. we’re on the fence about that remaining or not, but we can see the reason to block it for testing.

Does it provide a framework that you think we could regularly add to in live updates?

Absolutely! We are hoping we have not been shown all the masteries Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns will ship with In any case we can’t wait to level them up!

Does it improve the experience of gathering materials if you’re working on building items that require specific crafting materials that previously had no clear place to earn them?

Yes. We like that the map shows materials we can earn while playing there. It would be nice to have them added to achievements or hero panel for tracking them also, if that is possible? Maybe have a show / hide option setting that will add that display to the Event Assistant?

BWE1 Feedback Part 1

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Seth Moonshadow.2710

BWE1 responses to Guild Wars 2:Heart of Thorns Team wants to know ( from 1st BWE Post) by two avid Guild Wars 2 & Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns fans. These are our combined opinions of Crystal Virgo and Seth Moonshadow.

We want your thoughts on how fun it is to play our new profession as well as the elite specializations.

Revenant ~ We very much enjoy playing the Revenant! We do however find it a little more difficult to return to than any of the other professions. Shiro has a steeper learning curve than Mallyx, otherwise he seems okay. We found that skill Unrelenting Assault and skill Phase Traversal on the Revenant dual swords would not always work especially with the new beast “Arrowhead”. Those skills would not shadowstep or mist step to target very often. Also, Unrelenting Assault does not always return character to starting position when it does Shadowstep. Impossible Odds & Jade Winds are sweet! Just wish they could hit more targets

Tempest ~ During heavy combat animations sometimes do not show. We’re on the fence about whether or not an overload skill should be blockable, and many of our attempts to use Tempest Overload are blocked / interrupted / negated. The animations and sounds are awesome. It really helps make our Elementalist feel more like an Elementalist. We can’t wait until the horn sounds are replaced also, it will be even that much sweeter! We found ourselves using Tempest abilities far more than we thought we would.

Dragonhunter ~ WOW! Very fun indeed! It did creep close to the Ranger realm at first, but after playing Dragonhunter for a while you can see the Ranger is still a very valid profession. We took to Dragonhunter very fast and it quickly became a very close favorite to our Tempests.

Reaper ~ Nicely done, we enjoyed Reaper’s Shroud especially Soul Spiral. The animations and new character skin are a welcome piece of eye candy

Chronomancer ~ The clock sounds and time visuals are sweet! It added a little bit of comic relief to playing and yet did not turn it into a clown show

Do the elite specializations feel like they are creating an entirely new role for your main profession?

Tempest: Not really. It does however really give you the feeling that an Elementalist is truly an Elementalist and “commands” the Elements rather than just using them. We were at first sceptical about the Tempest. Now we have a rekindled love of our main character who will most certainly become a Tempest! While it does not give the feeling of an entirely new role, it does provide much needed staying power to the “Battle Mage” build I already use frequently on my Elementalist.

Reaper: Not so much, only because I (Seth) already use my Necromancer in much the same way as a Reaper is used for “brawling”. However, the Reaper will give my current Necro Brawler
much needed staying power to survive more battles. Instead of rush in, hit, rush out, spam staff #1 then repeat.

Dragonhunter: Yes!

Chronomancer: Undecided / not completely sure.

Do you feel the need to use your entire skill bar in battles?

Yes. We found ourselves using 0-9 skills as soon as they are available far more in Verdant Brinks than we do in normal play. Though, we use the 0-9 skills all the time during normal game play and elite skills probably more often than most. After all, they were put there to be used right?

Does teaming up with other players feel more rewarding?

Yes. In this version of Verdant Brinks we found it much more necessary to find a “Battle Buddy” before heading off into the woods! The Pocket Raptors were cute and dangerous, but also a defeatable enemy even in the packs. The Mushrooms on the other hand proved quite a bit more challenging when in packs and “praise the six!” you don’t get a veteran in with them!! If for no other reason than survival, teaming up—or at the very least following others—was needed more than previous tests. The reward came from not having to use the WP’s as often and did give you the Us vs Them feeling (as I noticed many individual stragglers buddying up also).

guild hall decorations

Seth Moonshadow.2710

Just my thoughts, but we can hope right?

Themes
Themes appeared to be a popular request in the CDI for Guild Halls. HoT is coming out with just the two for now, I would wager they will have other themes based on races after they have had the original two played with and bugs worked out.

Decorations
You can see a list of decorations presumed to be in the guild hall here: Decorations. These are gathered from multiple resources, though mostly from the guild hall video. I am sure there will be lots of decorations for us to discover and upgrade from basic to “kool” as they have already mentioned.

I would not what a cannon as a decoration but rather a working emplacement if we will be “retaking” our guild halls on a semi-regular basis. In that case add all the other WvW emplacements also, Trebs, AC’s, Pots of Oil…etc…etc.

I just can wait to get my Guild Hall!!!!

Weapon + Stance build design.
It seems there is a definite combination to weapons and stances. Staff + Ventari, Hammer + Jalis, and Mace|Axe + Mallyx. While they worked very well in those combinations they lacked the same punch if you went out of the box and mixed staff+Mallyx, for example. That being said, it makes you want to stick with ONE legendary more often rather than swapping as much—due to the loss of the combination power. After battles we would often swap weapons for my stance based on what we thought we might use most.

It would be nice if we could at least swap between the weapon sets coinciding with our currently configured stance choices. Though that would probably be some major coding

Or some other solution???? Is it possible to add a check box next to the weapons section on the hero equipment panel? Then we could place a check mark on the weapons we want available to swap with our stances. Kinda like how we can chose to show or hide the helmet check box, only it will grant swap ability if 2 of the 4 weapon slots are filled and have checks.

Or, best / worst case just give us one F1 that we can change stance options when not in combat. And remove Stance swapping. That way we know we need to equip a new weapon if we are going to change stance.

It feels like you must chose a weapon+stance combo to pick while playing, rather than flexibility without loss of power (Staff+Mallyx). So if that is going to remain the case please tie weapon swapping to stance. I don’t like that being taken away , but in this case it works.

Isles of Janthir

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Seth Moonshadow.2710

Seth Moonshadow.2710

We did not get to them in Guild Wars 1, I highly doubt we will in Guild Wars 2.
As for maps I have counted 5 thus far.

1 Verdant Brinks (includes all three levels [Canopy, surface, and subterranean])
2 Gilded Hallows
3 Lost Precipice
4 Borderlands (unknown how many actual maps )
5 Stronghold (unknown how many actual maps )
It seems unbalanced to have only Verdant Brinks and a guild hall to level 5 Masteries in the Maguuma zone even with Verdant Brinks having 3 levels and a decent sized map. When you consider we will have 30 maps to level 3 Masteries in Tyria’s zone. But then, we have only had a look into a small portion of Verdant Brinks, and I was able to level 2 and a half mastiers in 6 hours with normal play (not focused on leveling mastry).

Wishful thinking, Crystal Desert. There is more in game that points to Crystal Desert by far than Isles of Janthir. Have you spoken to JoAnna in Stronghold of Ebonhawke?

As far as White Mantle, it is hinted or stated that the Bandits in Guild Wars 2 are connected with the White Mantle.

It seems like each legend is inspired in a different profession, sharing similar themes but with different playstyles. So Jalis is guardian-esque and Mallyx feels similar to a necro.

Agreed. Lore or no, it feels knowing the legends (as in the F1-F4 options) is knowing how to & when to use each for given combat situations. Tankish time calls for Jalis, you want condi-ish on you foes call on Mallyx, want to support or heal a small group of allies then it’s Ventari. That’s not needing to know lore, it’s needing to know what and how the different historical legends work as a weapon enhancement (so to speak).

The Portal to the Heart of Maguuma is a done deal and has no other value than 25 silver in game (as I understand some still drop). Or as memorabilia of a past event.

That being said. I can’t wait to play Revanant again with a new legend and Staff weapon I hope we can check out condition damage with them? Sounds like we are getting an assortment of gear to play with and spec them out more than just the celestial stats this time.

I mean, come on, we are so far the only class without a dedicated melee weapon (as in, normal weapon, not conjured ones). Not cool.

Cool name btw,

Technically we do have a dedicated melee weapon, we just use it to cast our skills with instead. We have the dagger. It is technically a melee weapon. That being said I vote for the sword also! But we can only wait and see. It would make sense to give a melee weapon with the ability to tank as an ele with earth, if even for a short time as a “Reaper” does. Ele’s already have abilities horns provide as with most other weapons. Melee is really the only realm we cannot participate in.

I know they will get progressively more costly in the track. I imagine others were able to get farther in their unlocks by focusing on leveling them.

I enjoyed Gliding tons and the ability to jump, fall, glide, fall, glide, fall, land is SWEET Attached is our last minute in Hot Closed Beta

Mastery Leveling & Balance

Seth Moonshadow.2710

Ayrilana, as I said “Official” maps, implying that we have only been shown or given little information on maps. It is very possible more maps are included and they have not released that information. Thus far unless you know otherwise I believe Verdant Brink and the Guild Halls have been the only stated maps!? Other than the WvW & PvP maps.

Maybe this will help you understand my question?

Taken from Reimagining Progressions

“Each Mastery track is tied to a region of Tyria—they must be unlocked with Mastery points gained in that region and can only be trained in that region. With the launch of Heart of Thorns, there will be two Mastery regions: the Heart of Maguuma, encompassing all PvE zones that are part of the Heart of Thorns expansion, and the core Guild Wars 2 world, encompassing all PvE zones currently available in the game today. Since Mastery tracks can only be trained in their respective regions, the Mastery training bar will automatically change the Mastery track slotted when you change regions, reverting to the last Mastery track you had selected for that region. "

Those are Regions and Heart of Maguuma
So I refer back to my original question.

As you know, currently Dry Top & Silverwastes are listed as Maguuma Wastes. Will Dry Top & Silverwastes be included as part of “The Heart of Maguuma” for Mastery Leveling?

It seems a bit unbalanced to have Verdant Brink as the only zone (Map realy) to train 5 Mastery Tracks. And 30+ Maps to train 2 Mastery Tracks. Even if Guild Halls are included in the “The Heart of Maguuma” zone that makes only 3 “Official” maps to train 5 Maguuma masteries.

If Maseries are progressed by Map Completion and Personal Story. The bulk of experience gained will only go to Pact Tyria Masteries. It seems unbalanced.

Guild Halls for small guilds

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

From Colin Johanson:
If your group online is too small, you’ll need to invite friends (or pay/beg/sing-songs-to-woo peeps in Lion’s Arch!) to come with you and help you claim the guild hall to own one. Or you could always grow your guild

So, as I mentioned it sounds as though LFG is your best friend for small guilds! So long as they are not required to remain in your guild (that would be guild recruiting, and that’s not allowed on LFG). Just pop a Guild Mission Help in LFG and you will get the help you need for your Guild Hall, Guild Missions and possibly some will stay on!

Also be sure that when you advertise you are less than 1 minute from starting any Guild event or missions or you will lose those that came to your aid rather fast.

Guild Halls for small guilds

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Seth Moonshadow.2710

Seth Moonshadow.2710

It has already been stated that small guilds were taken into consideration for the new Guild Hall system. That being said….

Guild Wars 2 appears to be centered around the number 5 in many ways. Party size, average number needed to complete guild missions, amount needed to easily take down a champion. How many are allowed in dungeons…etc…etc

My bet is that if your guild has 5 active members you should be good. Or if your a solo Guild maybe LFG solely for help to claim your hall? No Recruiting in the LFG it for finding groups to help with content. So I believe if your lacking numbers LFG & the community at large will come to your aid!

That being said. It appears clear ANet is not 100% on board with the 100% rep only guilds. I have never been one for 100% rep! With the changes to guild chat I would belong to at least 5, 1) your guild, 2) your storage guild, 3-5 other guilds. Also, be sure to invite your non-representing guild member to any event you are going to do. You’ll find that many will swap back to your guild and help out. They may not stay reping, but hey! You go the help you needed they got some loot and they are after all in your guild

Thank You!
For the work you have put into the HoT expansion! I am anxious to see where our story winds up with Caithe having “taken” Glint’s Egg. I look forward to the beta’s and hope to explore more of Verdant Brinks and possibly other maps. I have a suspicion about Rytlock’s path on his journey to retrieve Sohothin, and am curious if I am 1) right and or 2) we will be taken on that journey also?

Thank You!
For Guild Halls! I have been eagerly awaiting news of Guild Halls and thus far I am very pleased with what I have seen and read about them. I cannot wait to start building our new structures with our unlocked guild The ability to decorate Guild Halls and the way it appears to be implemented is sweet! I can’t wait to craft more decorations and explore designs of our Guild Hall.

Thank You!
For the new Revenant profession. “Ha, that’s a fair price, I’ll take two my good friend!” ~Home instance citizen. I will make 2 as I bought a spare char slot in case one was not included with the expansion. It was a joy to play in the closed beta test and I will enjoy them after launch.

Thank You!
For The Revenant Finisher, Guild Hall decoration, Title, Mini Revenant Rytlock, and Glider Skin for use now and in the future.

Thank You!
For the Mastery System and seeing the players side of things and allowing us to craft precursors for both existing and new legendary weapons. Even though it is only 1 it is better than none. I can’t wait to level up in the system and earn my glider, jumping powers, and Itzel features.

Thank You!
For Specializations. I think the new design for traits is awesome and I really enjoy we do not have to buy them or scour the world to gather them. It, to me, seemed only natural that we gain them through leveling.

Thank You!
For considering small guild in the new guild hall system. I hope it will allow small or low representation / inactive player base guilds to achieve as much as the large guilds. I hope the new system has more of our members swapping back to our guild to help out and that we may help out other similar sized guilds.

Thank You!
For rebuilding LA and helping us see our efforts pay off to help return LA and Tyria to it’s spectacular glory.

Thank You!
For a wonderful two plus years of a magnificent ride through the world of Tyria, from our first characters and steps in Queensdale, Wayferers Foothils, Plains of Ashford, Metrica Province, or Caledon Forest through Orr, SouthSun Cove, Dry Top, Silverwastes and beyond. Can’t wait to see the future of Guild Wars 2!!!

I am sure HoT will have its challenges for us to enjoy, cry, and laugh through. I am glad it is getting closer to release.

Through all the criers there are some who still enjoy and look forward to each and every day of Guild Wars 2! See you in game

whats another name for Raid Dungeons

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Seth Moonshadow.2710

Seth Moonshadow.2710

I think the more accurate differentiation is that a raid is multiple base groups, whether it be 2 or more doesn’t matter, just more than what you have in your typical party system.

To be more accurate, here is the exact quote “Raid groups are a way to have parties of more than 5 and up to 40 people, divided into up to 8 groups of up to 5 players. “ ~ WoW Basically a Squad Leader or Commander Tag, multiple base groups in one larger formation.

So we basically have “Raid” ability already in the form of Squads. We have “Riad” content in the form of Tequatl The Sunless, Triple Trouble, Karka Queen, and as I stated before any of the world bosses. We also have “Raids” in WvW basically anywhere you seen a Commander Tag.

I still vote for and use the terms Clear or Vanquish for dungeons since other terms like Missions (used for guilds) or Adventures (coming in HoT) are in or will be in current use.

What would be REALLY nice is if commanders could see those in their squads using the small party icon view as a separate window. In my opinion at least that would be helpful

Well, as I understand it (and as stated on WoW’s forum). Isn’t a “Raid” a grouping of 10-40 players? So technically you can’t Raid a dungeon since it only allows one five member party. Personally I call them dungeon clears or vanquishing as taken from Guild Wars 1 dungeons.

Now Teq I would call a Raid. Or even the world bosses since they do take more than 10 players to take them down. Remember the days we SB or MAW would fail?

HoT Closed Beta

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Seth Moonshadow.2710

Seth Moonshadow.2710

First of all, those who have been listening, reading the HoT information and participated in Guild Wars 2 Beta’s know that that the game play in beta’s will change drastically on release and even again after release. It seems there are a large number of those under the perception that game play in beta is what they will get once HoT is released. I just don’t see that happening.

I enjoyed hunting for and finding the Portal to the Heart of Maguuma allowing me to participate in this past beta event.

I like what and were the story line appears to be headed. It would be a bummer to lose any member of Destiny’s Edge after having played with them for the last three ( well 2+) years. But we will see.

Revenant Impressiosn:
I wanted to save the Revenant for the actual release of HoT and intended on playing either an Ele or a Guardian. However the hype and length of time since a new profession was available I could not resist! It was a joy to play and with my pos pc I was pleased with how well the animations and action took place. There were a few areas it took some time before animation appeared and some times not at all. I chalked it up to my pc. It was awesome to see the Forced Engagement work to our advantage and have the enemy turn on themselves. I’m not sure if it was supposed to work on a champion mounted rider but I was AWESOME that it did, if only to have him bucked off. A word on Inspiring Reinforcement , OMG I think everyone had that set to auto attack. There were multiple times our path was literally paved by IR

Day & Night Impressiosn:
You could definitely tell the difference between day and night, not just from the amount or lack of light but from the numbers of mordrem available to help level your Mastery Track There are a few who might be mistaken that the beta was the actual number of mordrem we will see. While that might actually be the correct number of mordrem, the time we had did not give us the full view of the onslaught once HoT is released, think Amber Sandfall, Indigo or other base during a defend stage. Or Vinewrath Lane. That is my bet at least. It was clearly enough to cause our forces to falter and not achieve all the defenses before nightfall (LOL Nightfall)!

Aduio & Map Impressions:
The players character having a voice was great I knew from information before we would be getting one and had forgotten until playing in the beta and hearing my character. There was that slight delay of “hu, wut? Who’s that talking?” I enjoyed the ambient sounds and wish they played more often (could be my settings). Almost reminded me of trodding through the bush. I hope the Jungle includes some rainy areas also. Map layout was nice and confusing, reminded me of Cantha in Factions, and wished there were a few more high long skinny bridges to run over (and jump off, yes). I understand we may not have been given access to the jungle floor, but it would have been sweet to jump off the mordrem vine Mastery Point and glide to the bottom with out auto dying.

Mastery System & Adventures Impressions:
I only tried two adventures, the one collecting the supplies and the one collecting the insects. My first two runs through the supplies adventure you had to dodge or speed your way out of the devastating Tendril attacks, failed miserably. I was able to get the bronze on my third attempt and almost to silver. Clearly your Mastery Skills will help diminish the challenge rating a little. They were a challenge and fun. The insect collection in the Itzel grounds was hard mainly because I cold not stop jumping off to glide and it was at times hard to tell where to go next. Mastery System is just as they said, a grind, but it is an account grind and one I will be happy to complete. I’m sure the last few unlocks will take for ever to gain but should be worth it. In the six hours we were given I did earn 2 ¼ unlocks. I could have earned more had I actually been hunting events. So yeah, the grind is real, but not a bad one. You’ll clearly gain Mastery Points faster than you can spend them.

In Closing, AWESOME, ENJOYABLE, can’t wait to own Heart of Thorns.

A few of us gathered at Shipwrek Peak Point for one last glide into the setting sun of beta. It was a moment to remember THX!

P.S. Any news on Guild Hallzzeze!!!!
