Expansion Dreams

Okay, I just had to put this out there. It is some thing I think we all have seen and thought might be “coming soon”. And as the topic title suggests this is a dream I have for expansions or future expansions. Colin has said everything we love from guild wars 1 in guild wars 2. Those were not his exact words, true. In any case that was the point. And thus far we have seen a very large amount of guild wars 1 in guild wars 2. Only done better in the guild wars 2 way ( i.e. the awesome way ). But has anyone else hoped / thought the expansion might be fare bigger than they are leading on?

So here is my Dream of the expansion:
The gates below will open and we will have access to the Crystal Desert. The Ring of Fire will once again be traversable as we help the Mursaat. The Far Shiverpeaks will will have the snow trampled with our boots. The Blood Legion Homelands will be cleansed.

Crazy right? But we have seen how ANet likes to leave bread crumb hints in the game. They are after all our DM (Dungeon Master), and what DM does not like planting hints for players to go “OH WOW I thought….”?

Guild Chat bugged

Have you tried to change your status from online to invisible and back to online again? That usually works after they have posted the fix for guild chat.

I am not sure if this is a bug or not. Mainly because I don’t if closed beta testing has started. But in any case I thought this should be noted. I noticed on my guild roster that a player has the Revenant icon for their character. It also lists their accurate amount of achievement points.

Technically I believe data mining is illegal unless you are authorized to do so by either the software license or owners. If you don’t work with ANet I’m fairly sure it wouldn’t be allowed or legal.

I also believe they mess with data miners by planting some false info for them to find. After all. There has been loads of data mined information that has yet to be seen. They could be place holders for items they will release later, so puke up some info to make a space and viola data mined item #19045689 Super awesome thing that will never see the light of day. Have you seen those data minded items toons chat in map chat. Those have been around for years. Your better off looking in you Wardrobe for items they slip out.

ANet is good at hiding info, look on the forums, look on web sites, everyone is clambering for info. I don’t think they are worried so much about what is data mined because I think they anticipate that move. Just my opinion though.

In any case, if the data mine is accurate then so is my guess but you won’t get a confirmation here that’s for sure

Edit: Okay, I tried it. it did work Thanks again for the tip. You are correct it only allows 1 item to build now instead of 2 when you have the Guild Workshop unlocked 1 better than none

I think there are a few reports of guild Build Queue and workshops not working or having troubles. Here is another thread about it Guild Build Queue

Nothing has been getting built since yesterday’s patch (March 16, 2015). I am not getting any building done since yesterday as the image shows. Not even the Guild Workshop to allow for a second build item is working. I’m afraid to try my Contract Asuran Outsourcing.

I hope they are looking into this. I was hoping to do our first guild Trek

I can see Sword, Horn or Pistol for ele’s. Lets face it they already have most of the other weapons through the elements.

  • Fire = Axe & GS
  • Water = Frost Bow
  • Air = Hammer
  • Earth = Shield

The use Staff, Dagger, Scepter and focus. Sword, Pistol, and Horn are light weapons that so far they do not have access to.

Just my opinion though

Repair canisters, Trade Post and Box-o-Fun also have this issue. However my boosters did stack with my older ones.

The orange items would not stack with each other.
The Blue items did stack with older items.

Guild chat bug solution

An alternate temp fix was to represent each guild you belong to. That fixed the chat issues even after relog. However now I can chat but nothing appears after sending it.

They are working on a perm fix as stated by an ANet in game player.

It is permanent material. All the events, loot, vendor goods, etc… are there to stay

Well, you can farm for the exact parts by using the part specific tool sold by this vendor .

I have often thought my farm might have gone faster if I had waited to get the part specific extractors rather than being glued to SW for six weeks. But then, I did get the tonics, mini, and recipes also

They have already stated they will add Living World Season 1 to the journal. They also stated it would be some time down the road.

Figure a year,at least, Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns is coming out. There were three beta weekend events spanning four months plus a month of stress tests for the release of guild wars 2. Now they may not need those stress tests for the expansion. But they are likely to have the same or similar BWE’s. So six months rounded up just for pre-release of HoT. Another few months of patches to HoT. So you looking right close to a year before seeing Living World Season 1 again.

Sad, yes but likely true. I will however rejoice at its return

Our small guild (2) needs help to complete Guild Bounties. Looking for an alliance with other small guilds or a large one to help advance merit productivity. Willing to donate gold or influence to a guild that can help us successfully complete 2 t1 bounties (4 targets total). Also willing to help out other small guilds as best we can.

When I think of the word “adventure”, I think of some sort of very elaborated quest. For example, structured content that tells a secondary story, makes you explore key locations, talk to NPCs, fight some bad guys, and ultimately get a nice reward at the end for all your effort. That feels like a real adventure, especially if gameplay is narratively structured, with an introduction, rising action, climax, etc.

So far, the examples given for adventures feel more like they should be called trials instead. They’re pretty much achievements, aren’t they? “Do this content you’ve been doing, but faster”. That’s a trial, not an adventure.

Example of a trial: Finish this jumping puzzle in 10 minutes.

Example of an adventure: Go to a town, investigate an issue with NPCs that will ultimately lead you to a mountain, get ambushed by bad guys, cross the mountain, do a small jumping puzzle, unveal the story’s mystery, fight a boss, get back to the town, receive a nice reward.

Of course, adventures can be shorter and less elaborated than that, as long as the experience feels, well, adventurous. Usually, it should involve exploration, because I can’t imagine how something can even be called an adventure with no exploration at all. Certainly, mini games and other stuff could be part of adventures, but are they, by themselves, adventures, or merely trials/ achievements/ (or as they are already called) mini-games?

I can’t agree more! Very well put.
My two cents would also include that the original renown/hearts had it right. Why break a good thing? I was excited about the adventures feature and hoped they would be repeatable renown that was a little longer in duration, slightly harder or more complex. As we strive to keep this a community that works well it would be nice if they could also be done with groups.

Adventures should include at least three or more of the following:

  • Rescue an npc
  • Battle small groups of foes and an elite (with a special tactic making the battle a little harder but not quite a champion, solo events right?)
  • Deffend/attack enemy camp
  • track down missing / lost item
  • Jumping Puzzle (not timed!)
  • Text decoding language use
  • Puzzle, something that one player can do. To unlock a door place stones in a particular order

Anything timed is not PvE based and is more of a mini-game than an adventure. I understand ArenaNet “wants us to try new challenges” or “step up” our game. PvE is not about that. PvE is help the locals, kill the bad guy, get loot, repeat. The bad guy should be challenging and able to be completed solo (according to the Adventures System) or as a group.

There are traditionalist (yes, like me) who have enjoyed Guild Wars 2 as THE BEST mmorpg to date. That is because it does PvE better than any other game (in my opinion). ArenaNet knows how to do Adventures! Slapping a timer on it is a cheap way to make it more challenging and call it adventurous.

Is using LFG Tool an acceptable use for trading items or is this something that should be reported for abuse?

I am noticing a growing trend with LFG being used in this way. Personally I think it’s a bit risky. But some of the prices are much cheaper than on TP, and you have the ability to bargain, if only a little.

After all there is no “Trade P2P” option, just dungeons and living world.

I hope Gems are not a factor in guild construction, maybe an initial small 200 gem cost to begin a guild hall, otherwise it should not be TP based.

Donari, I found CDI you spoke of. Thanks. It does appear to address my concerns. It does not however answer my question. But then I guess we will all have to wait and see what the implemented. A lot of suggestions include the no merit, influence, guild membership size design differences. I have not read it all nor found what ANet chose as their model. Thanks again

Lord Trejgon, I understand. During BWE and for the first few months our guild was only 2 strong.

Inguiomerus, That sounds likely. The question is will it take 250 merits & 500k influence? We can’t even get to 15 merits! Will it take winning 5 battles of Borderlands? That’s not going to happen….We are PvE guild, we don’t mind short trips to WvW or the mists but 99% of the time we are in PvE maps. ANet likes to have you “Try” something you don’t normally do. Some players do not want to leave that comfort zone. I can see a PvE event like Vinewrath to gain control over a guild location. Assuming they will be instanced. I kinda hope they are not and will be open map based. Something we can fly our banners / flags at maybe get some new members that way. In any case, I hope it is easier than the merit system.

Will Guild Halls be achievable for small guilds?

My guild membership has averaged around 30 members since it’s i began recruiting in guild wars 2. With at most ten online and 5 representing. I am concerned that small guilds are being forgotten or left behind. With the addition of the merit system my guild has lost the ability to use the Vault Transport. Bounty merit system is just a very tough first step to earning merits for a small guild. Even when trying to leech from a larger guild. Not to mention it sucks to have to do that. We are small, and most that are in my guild like that we are.

HoM Golem Banker ~ Candy Corn Gobbler

I am having a problem with my Hall of Monuments Golem Banker. It is acting more like a Candy Corn Gobbler! Maybe it’s having an identity crisis?

So when the Tangled Paths release went live I tried using my HoM Golem on a newly created character. It worked in “pre Shaemoor” and I was able to load some skins, salvage kits, harvesting gear, bags. I then went and helped kill the huge earth elemental. Once I was back in Shaemoor and level 2 I tried to use my HoM Golem again to load my Candy Corn Gobbler & Candy Corns to get some boosts to farm and level. However after double clicking the Golem and it spawning I was not able to talk to it and gain access to my bank. After a about 5 seconds the banker disappeared. I tried again, same thing. I took a few steps and tried againm, it spawned again and still no access. each double click resulted in the “unlocked” sound same as when using a Black Lion Key or the Candy Corn Gobbler. I set my character to auto run and kept double clicking the HoM Golem and each click & “cachink” sound resulted in a new HoM Golem Banker being spawned with out allowing access. After about ten tries my bank finally opened.

I thought this was odd, so I leveled up to level 5 and tried it again (as if that had any affect). I still had the same problem! Double click, golem spawns, no access. I deleted the character and created a new one (again receiving my Hero’s band and HoM Golem Banker) using the same name. It worked for the new character. I took the character to “post Shaemoor” and tried to use the HoM Golem Banker again, it spawned, I tried talking to it and no bank access. I set character to auto run again and repeated steps mentioned above. Same results. No one in map chat offered any useful info when I asked map. I tried searching tech support forums and did not find anything. I submitted an in-game bug report.

A patch came for the game so I figured I would try using my HoM Golem Banker again. Can you guess what happened? Yup same results. Double click, HoM Golem Banker spawns, Press F key & click “Talk” option, no bank access. I tried my auto run spam spawn and yup, they kept spawning and right about 10-15th Golem I would get access. I thought this was odd, so guess what I tried then? Yup you guessed it! I deleted the character and created a new one only this time with a new name also, as well as class and race.

Well, guess what? The new character has the same problem! This was odd, sooooo, I decided to try it with an old character level 80 who has never used his HoM Golem Banker. I guess I shouldn’t have because now he can’t use it and now time is running out on it!! :C As seen in the attached image below my level 80 can spawn multiple HoM Golem Bankers and not one of them will grant access to the bank! Just keep clicking and hoping for bank access just like the Candy Corn Gobbler hoping for a booster and 90% of the time only getting a transmogrification!

I have run -repair and still have the HoM Golem Banker problem. Is this even being looked into? I sure hope this is not happening to the ones from the gems store! That would blow!

Commander tags will become account bound

Maybe a way to show Commander experience is by using the existing weapon / armor / item color scheme. for example a red tag with a white chevron would be a new commander, a blue tag with an orange chevron would indicate an exotic level commander? Just a thought

While I for one would like commander tags to be account bound.

The problem is that you would have more of exactly what the OP is upset about. More tags being useless. The overall playerbase wants less not more commander tags. The interesting thing is that there are actually more tags then people see I would wager that the majority of tag holders do not tag often.

ArenaNet has already made changes to require Badges of Honor to buy the commander tag.

I disagree, having an account bound Commander tag does not mean there will be more of anything other than the choice of characters a Commander has to use it with. It does not mean there will be more “of exactly what the OP is upset about”.

About Commanders Tags

It’d be Commander Loki Karaoke and almost certainly because I’m running Guild Missions.

There have been many suggestions for this (and Anet has shown some interest) including 1) changing colors or shape or 2) allowing guild-only tag visibility.

I expect there to be Commander tag features added in the next feature patch later this year based on the interest shown by Anet plus lots of speculation on my part.

That’s cool! I think a guild only option would be nice also, though as an option for sure.

Do you have a link to anything that shows Anet’s interest?

I hope Anet considers changing it to account bound. Since raising 100g is not an “easy” task, and they did say they want all our achievements to be able to be shared amongst all characters. Personally I consider earning 100g an achievement worthy of sharing across all my characters.

Every one always assumes Tags mean this or tags mean that.

1) You do not ever “KNOW” what a Tag is up for!
2) You do not ever “KNOW” If the Tag owner is a pro / Hardcore / skilled / experienced….etc
3) Tag’s in PvE can be useful though are more a status symbol / guild recruiting advertisement than anything else
4) Knowing is half the battle….so ask and then you’ll know!

It would be nice is Commander Tags also had a one or two word description after them Like “Commander Timmyf: champ run” or “Commander Timmyf: World Events” or “Commander Timmyf: World Bosses” Just a thought….

@ 5:23 PM on Blackgate I was dropped to character selection screen twice. Fellow player at my house also dropped to character selection screen, though only once, and was able to get logged back in. I closed client and on re-open I was able to log back in again. Day four of disconnects in the evening. Access to guild wars 2 forum and wiki also extremely slow. Other internet access or internet based games unaffected.

This is just ridiculous, how does one get repeatedly attacked a whole week and not be able to combat these hackers…

I think you mean Crackers.
Hackers are good guys and usually in the IT department of companies. Crackers on the other hand are the bad guys who do ID theft, DDoS attacks, read your email….and other illegal or unauthorized acts.

Third night in a row I have been dropped to character selection screen and unable to connect to the log-in server. I am on the Blackgate server. Please find and block / ban / fix the issue with accessing guild wars.

Time I noticed it: 7:45 PST
Affected services: Guild Wars 2 Client, Guild Wars 2 wiki, Guild Wars 2 forum all load slow or not at all.

Gold missing from Inventory [merged]

I had about 14g in my bank. I swapped toons to do some frostgorge Sound farming of three champs in drakkar area. I sold some minor runes & sigils on the TP. My gold was still fine. Negacion (Esk0.5697) invited me to group and I accepted. After I reached 20 some odd chests I opened them and look at my gold. I was down to only 5g from 14g???? What gives? do we get it back?

I also just submitted a ticket for this, FYI. It is unfortunate that it appears to be happening again.

Just to go into further detail. When crafting Recipe: Gift of Souls, it will require 40 Bottles of Elonian Wine, 10 Candy Corn Cobs, 10 Piles of Crystalline Dust, and 10 Tyria’s Best Nougat Centers. That is just to craft the actual recipe for gift of souls.

All that for a recipe? Stuff that.

I agree!! 30k Candy Corn, 10k Nougat Center, Chattering Skull, Plastic Fang for all three recipes!! Now way I’ll get them now unless they drop from chest in Ascent to Madness.

Last years Halloween was way better. I do like the Candy Corn node in home instance thought :-)

I have the bug also. It happened in frostgorge sound after I used the LFGT for the first time. I posted a LFG for a zerg in Frostgorge Sound. I had an invite and accepted the invite. That cleared my LFG in the tool and gave me the updated LFG message. After that the world event notice sound went off and boom no more World Event UI. I had already completed the Boss Week event and had the World Event UI for two days after completing it. I have not killed Tequatl and have only been in overflow while partaking of the Tequatl Event. I logged out and back in, no effect. I also ran a repair and it did not fix it.

I filed a bug report before checking here first sorry dev’s. :-(

Server: Blackgate
Map: Frostgorge Sound (when removed) / all maps do not display
Character: lvl 80 elementalist (when removed) / no character has the UI
UI sound still works
Personal Story still works

Are we supposed to get two Birthday Gift Boxes? All five of my 1st years have received two Birthday Gift Boxes. I thought the second was a replacement to update the scroll. I was wrong.

Thank you for the Birthday Gift Box!! I was glad to see you are continuing that tradition. I also enjoyed that it was more than just a mini! I like the added booster. I think the scroll is a little bit of a waist since a player achieving their first year of play would have made it to lvl 20 by then. I understand there may not be some. But it would have made the Birthday Gift Box that much more awesome if the XP scroll worked with any lvl character and gave them say 5, 10 or 15 lvls :-).
In any case, I like them.

I agree. Also what about some of us who have spend hard earning laurels and fractals relics on ascended gear that have magic find? Those items took a very long time to grind and now the stats are removed?

Agreed, I think this is a big mistake. This is not helping the working force players that spent weeks / months earning something to have it chucked. And on top of that have to keep paying into the game by being forced to use consumables. What about those who don’t even do any crafting? Kinda leaves them out doesn’t it?

This fun game is becoming to much work to play!!!

Give those of use who work and spend hard earned cash on your game a break! Just dump the loot! Have veterans with chests also.

As long as the system properly rewards people with account-wide MF concurrent or better than what they currently have, I don’t personally mind. If it ends up being less than though, I definitely won’t be a happy camper.

Yes change can be good. It can also be bad!!

It would be awesome if all my toons had the same MF as my main, sure that would be great. IF that’s how they will do it?? A draw back is that now my permanent MF that I have set up is now going to have to be fed in order to keep up. So it will cost me more now than currently to maintain my MF, That’s a BAD change!

I have 6% Account-Based MF right now. On my lower level toons with consumables I can get almost 60% MF. It makes some difference but not enough that makes them very fun to play compared to my 135% toon.

If they would dump more loot and gold as I mentioned on another post
“Players WANT rewards, goodies, items….give it to them and they will stop finding ways to beat the system and actually play the game as you intended.”then MF would not be needed at all!

Example: (hope this is not a violation of anything)
my lvl2 Cleric in DDO earned 4 platinum, 6 gold, 83 silver and 42 copper for completing a single event. Platinum being the highest value. my LEVEL 2 character!

In GW2 getting silver is like pulling teeth, forget gold!!

For the longest time I too “thought” I was stuck on this achievement. I had received 10 mails before, but they all have to be from players. I know that sounds silly, but here is what I ended up doing, I deleted ALL of my mail, and randomly asked in map chat for people to send me a random mail for the achievement. It’s worth a shot, sounds like a simple solution, and it was, if you consider yourself stuck, you have nothing to lose by trying to get it working.

I will try this as I am stuck at 81/83 and have been since release. I just want to say this is not a fix the problem. I would like to keep my special event emails that have the show me buttons. It would be nice if they would fix it.

GW2 assumes the “communityis working together.

Well this may be true that many players don’t care and don’t help each other but the same scenario was happening in Swtor’s live event. Then the community pooled all their resources to come up with great guides. Everyone was in a mad rush to figure out what was going on and what was the next piece of the mystery. Events that are short lived and have the likely hood of never being seen again change the selfishness mentality very quickly from what i have seen.

True, and I stated that also:
“Oh, of course they will during event’s as they are seen as an asset then because they will never be able to complete those events without help.”

I agree group / world events is when I mostly get the team feeling. Out side of that I still maintain "Unfortunately that is less true than they would like to hear I am afraid. "

MMOs are NOT single player games.

simultaneously single players that may or mayNOT group together to play the same game environment. GW2 has stated that this (GW2), as with the original, will be solo (as in single player) compatible / capable. Basically a bunch of single players playing the same game at the same time choosing or not to partake of the same challenges at the same time.

I do agree with you that it should not be statice, it should have hidden secrets, dynamic should be a key element to help create the living breathing feeling. However, it is still a game I paid good money to play. I feel strongly that a pair (as in two) of players should be able to complete the game and have the option to partake of larger group events if they want. I should not miss out on “goodies” just because I had to work to pay for the game.

I like the hidden events also, HOWEVER I also feel very strongly that players should have a means with which to discover them! otherwise they can go undiscovered, and were’s the FUN in that?! As a DM for Dungeons & Dragons I hated prepping the game and have the players never discover three or four of my painstakingly created puzzles, tasks, encounters, or special rewards just because they chose to go down the other hall. Or open the other door or kill the person they should have saved. I found the secret to having my goodies getting discovered was to drop subtle hints or craft the events in such a way that the players could put the clues together. This assumed they were working together as a team. This is 99% of the time true with D&D.

I am walked over far more many times than revived by other players resulting in a much larger expense than otherwise needed because players just aren’t reviving as much anymore. Oh, of course they will during event’s as they are seen as an asset then because they will never be able to complete those events without help. I make it a point to revive anyone or anything that has a revive option, provided they are not nakid :-) (you know what I mean ;-) I mean afk’ers).
GW2 also stated in a video they learned that players would often times pass right by an event they were meant to do something with. They found the key was to go back to old school and provide some clue “poison over NPC heads” to get players to react. So if they found this out, why in the world would they stop doing that? What? Are they going to send an ingame server message “One Time World Event to kill the gorgon and win the holly grail has ended. 0 players took part, 0 players received the holly grail, 0 records in Hall of Heros” REALLY! It took weeks for players to figure out that the Swamp Beast was activated by following the secrets of the swamp events when those events were active.

So, unless that no warning event runs for months it is an absolute waist of employees time and company money to create it and then it is never found out about! what a waste :-(

I say there should ALWAYS be an ingame method, not reliant upon other players (that may or mayNOT be helping), to discover (through NPC chatter, world interactivity [books on the book carts or library?!?!?], Karma allies [after all we helped them! why not help us, why not have them not sale goods that day and instead give information??] glowing gravestones, there are thousands of other methods) any and all events that take place in game. I think they should use the same method they did for the black moa mini. Run around the world to complete it. But in the end you find the info that activates the hidden event. Like Easter egg hunts.

After all how many times have we seen the “Retake Beetletun Farms” world event just sitting there with 0 Centaurs remaining and the event hung because players haven’t figured out NOT to kill the Centaurs first!?! I have done that event once, every time I go by there it is sitting there. How unfortunate. I actually like the event a lot. to many people start camping it and they will add catapults and veteran centaurs.

Players WANT rewards, goodies, items….give it to them and they will stop finding ways to beat the system and actually play the game as you intended.

Sorry, this is something I obviously feel strongly about. I did not realize I was going to be this chatty. Hehe Guess I should start a blog ;-)

I am noticing lag in more areas. Hope this helps. I hope it is testing for All Hallows Eve :-)!

Unexplored Points of Interest:
It took 30 seconds for an unexplored point of interest to populate.

Skills:
Skills are “wig wagging”, activation -> in use -> activation -> in use. Until I press the skill key again to stop it. This can go on for over a minute.

Uber Kills / Level 1000 Character:
Some Monsters are killed with one or two attacks and they are same level or 1-3 levels higher.

Precognitive Reward System:
I made one attack on a deer same level as my character. The deer’s health was about three quarters full, and I was presented with three drops. After killing the deer normally and it shown the sparkles , “Search [F]” , I pressed F and nothing was shown as dropped.

Botz! Botz! and More Botz! or just Uber Weapons?:
I could be wrong and so I did not report this in game as a bot. Either there are far more bots than I realized or the lag is helping produce that effect? While on “Escort the trading post caravan to Claypool” I noticed Sammy Hendrix (8th lvl Mesmer) had a scepter in hand. I also noticed two and some times three other scepters just like Sammy’s. I know Mesmers can create “ghosts / clones” and it is possible the lag did not show the clone. In any case the logs wont lie. See screens below.
