If you don’t want bad profession stacking, or bad players, form a team to queue with. For the second time.
:)

Forming a team is like cheating. It’s an unfair advantage.

Are you joking…

What would you call it if not an unfair advantage over those players who don’t team up? Does teaming up require skill? No. So by definition, the advantage is unfair.

Yes it requires social skills. Also cheating is breaking the rules not just creating an unfair advantage. Speedhacks are cheating, forming a party is not. By your definition all those guys who fought in real wars from fortified positions were cheating.

I have played strategy games in many different genres and also many RPG games with PvP. I have Closed Beta and Alpha tested games and have worked with some game developers as a gaming enthusiast.

Blahblahblah, I threw out some (possibly fake) credentials so that means whatever I have to say is right.

Mesmers areeasy to spot the difference between them and their clones. Hint, it’s the one doing evade rolls and isn’t just spamming 1. The other way to tell is looking at the bar when you target them. If it shows a bunch of buffs or if they have signets or whatever else on the bar then that’s the real one.

If you are getting salty tears over Mesmers, Ranger pets and Necromancer summons I really doubt your so called expert gamer credentials. You should probably go back to WoW or TOR so you can QQ less. Oh wait, you’re a scrub so you probably QQed on those games too.

I’m a mediocre PvPer on my best days and I really don’t find Power Rangers to be all that scary outside of one getting a good position in a team fight. I really don’t see what all the cry-babying is about. Close the gap and watch their health bar melt. Really nothing to it. I kill Power Rangers quite often actually.

I feel the scoreboard would be a lot more accurate if you earned a small number of points per second when actively fighting someone on a point.

I’d further expand on that by having you only accumulate points when fighting on a point you own or is contested, thus increasing player initiative to decap and hold a point rather than fighting for an extended period of time on a point your enemy has firm control of. Fighting on a point you control would offer slightly more points per second than fighting on a contested point so that players will want to cement the capture faster.

So the most points would be awarded to those who can QUICKLY capture the most nodes and the people who can successfully maintain control of their nodes without being decapped. But if no one is attacking the node you’re trying to bunker you wouldn’t get any points as you were just wasting your time not rotating properly.

A good idea however that is mostly covered with Point Assaulter and Point Defender points being awarded in addition to the points given for Player Kills and Skirmisher.

I’ll call bs on Shadow where he says Roamer getting kills gets the least points. If you’re getting kills, you’re getting points. Usually Roamers rake the most points from my experience.

I do agree with you, however sometimes you might not get points for the kills. It happened to me a few times when I was moving between two points and got the kills, but the players were left to bleed out and in the end I wasn’t recognized as someone who killed them, too.

When you’re fighting for a point and there is someone else there they also get points for the kill. Then when you leave that point for the other person to cap they get the points from the kill + the points for the cap thus giving that person more points. That was the point I was making. Sometimes playing Roamer I do get the most points, sometimes I don’t but when you’re not getting that 10 points for Neutralizer and then the following 10 points for Point Capture that is 20 less points you get than the guy who got the same points for killing that you got.

Why do players hate Courtyard?

Because it’s basically like Mob-ball. What is Mob-ball you ask? Ever watched a little kids Soccer/Futbol game? I mean like really young kids, like the 6 year olds. There is no real game being played, it’s just a mob of kids following a ball around. That’s pretty much what Courtyard is. Everyone clumps up to fight. The map being small is not what I see as an issue because even if the map was larger everyone would just clump up in the same AoE hell.

Game designers learned that having objectives makes PvP warzones better because it means you have to use tactics to spread out the players because if you even did use a map like Foefire or Kyhlo without points it would just be one clump of people fighting. Before you start to say that wouldn’t happen let me explain how that would be deluding yourself. If you came out of the gate would you split your team up or go all together? Well if you answered the former you would just be fodder for the team who did the latter. Your idea that you would be the lone guerrilla fighter is nonsense and WvW proves this. Are there small forces going out take objectives? No. There’s just the Zerg and if you and your small group of friends try to go out and commando it you just run into the enemy Zerg and get squished. If you tried to run around and sneak around on a conquest map without points to cap then you will just run into 5 guys and get focused to death. Having objectives forces your team to split up and use a strategy and tactics to win.

That is why I and likely so many others hate Courtyard, even if they don’t realize it.

gonna drop some salt here: probably because thieves were using it too :P

I bet it was because necros were using it and necros aren’t allowed to have nice things.

Yeah I have seen Necros use this one too.

I hardly ever let points be a judge of who is good or bad. There was one match where I felt I was carrying the team. When I looked at the scoreboard I had over 100 points and the rest of the team had around 25. That was one of the rare times I knew the scoreboard was giving a good idea of how bad my pug was. Then again I have also been in plenty of matches where I was on the very bottom but I knew I was doing my job as a roamer because I wasn’t staying on a point to cap it when someone with more survivability was standing on it. Then again the only score I care about is the team score anyways.

All the experienced players don’t give a crap about the individual scores.

It’s not the people who run metabattle’s fault there are so few effective builds.

There are plenty of effective builds. Its just that the players are not effective.

Exactly. I’ve seen people use different builds. I admit when I first started playing GW2 a little over a year ago I went with the metabuild for my favored profession but since then have tweaked and refined it to suit me. I play a thief and I’m sure people would call me crazy for saying I think Infil Sig is a waste of a utility skill.

Since playing more I haven’t even looked at meta when making builds for other professions. I just look at the traits and stuff and start building what I want. Maybe it matches some meta closely or not Most people that are new do go for meta builds because they are new and need advice.

Then there are those who use them and then complain because they couldn’t just mash buttons and win as easily as some Vet on a youtube video. While others keep hammering away, get experience and keep that exact build or change them up to suit their playstyle.
