I am so glad instead of getting a getting any addition permanent dungeons we are continuing to get temporary content story dungeons. The only permanent content we are getting now is a jumping puzzle and a scavenger hunt for precursors 5 skill points. We can add these to the list of content released and then ignored 2 weeks later like the karka queen.

Ca$h$hop MMO are not free MMOs. Look at lotro and DnDO, both were subscription games and started making MORE MONEY when they went FTP. They just take your money using dispersive methods, IE the last 3 RNG chests. Lotto tickets that have a chance at what you want without stating the odds.

Yes, they drop very frequently.
I bought 250 Dragon Coffers on the TP, after opening about 25 I got a ticket ^^

And the person who opened 1000 and got nothing cares to disagree. Welcome to the RNG casino, where the house (anet) refuses to tell you the odds, but why would they when they have all the idiots out there buying up the lotto tickets in droves, and then all the fan boy white knights defending them for this practice. As long as these people exist in the game, Anet will not change its practices.

Was trying to farm my achievement, so I was just spam picking Meep. Well the under one of the races, Meep won, and the meta event that controls the races just disappeared, no fail, no mail. Beware you could loose your 50s even if your moa wins.

The issue with discussing randomness in games is selective bias. Yes, the chances of getting a fractal sword 6 times (assuming you only do 6 fractals) is 8.82×10^-7% (yes, percent) (I actually don’t believe this happened until I see evidence). However, the chances of one person, out of everyone who plays, getting at least 6 fractal swords in their play time is significantly higher.

Odds of getting the same item 6 times in a role on a 1/22 drop rate(there are a possible 22 fractal weapons) is 1/22 ^ 6 ie 1 in 113379904 chance of happening. When such events happen I start getting skeptical.

After going through 2 RNG bullkitten trying to get a specific skin and failing on both I’m starting to think whatever seed they are using in thier RNG algorithm is not producing very random results. Why do I think this you might ask? It become I’m getting the exact same items over and over again. Every time I do fractals my end chest 90% of the time if I get a ring, I get the barbed signet, not any of the other 20 rings. I also have a guildy who has gotten 6 fractal swords without getting any other fractal weapon. Just using the odds of 1/22 chance to get the sword if you RNG hits a fractal weapons, those odds are 1 in 100 million, and that is ignore the “5-15%” chance to get a fractal weapon drop. I have also witnessed to opening world boss chests and getting two of the exact same rare. With all the possibility of type and state and skin, I find such an occurrence extremely improbable and it has actually happen multiple times.

Has anyone else felt their drops are not feel very random.

I"m glad they removed the Dragon Festival, it not like we wished completely remove any reference to Cantha in this game. It not like there is a HUGE thread requesting Cantha presence to be somewhere in this game……

The fact that it isn’t the Dragon Festival with oriental themes is a HUGE failure imo.

So once again another stealth change omitted from the patch notes. On the path after the ice elemental, more blocks were added to the boundaries to keep players from avoiding mob. This has done nothing because you can still easily run past the groups anyways, similar to the added block they added to jade maw last month.
Really can we please stop playing blocks with the environment, and actually fix the rewards system with fractal weapons.

Highest Vitality+Highest DPS+Highest armor class = balanced class?
The only reason this class hasn’t been nerfed to the ground is that it is to clunky in spvp. But in pve because mobs won’t move, they can spam 2 to victory. Hell the only way ele can get past their damage output is to glitch their fiery greatsword skill. Generally, they need to use their pvp/pve split more here, nerf the pve warrior, while buffing pvp warriors.

I doubt drop rates have been nerfed. Whenever it comes to games of chance, everyone has their own superstitious beliefs like blowing on your dice for good luck and justifications for why they aren’t winning.

Except with dice you know they die has 6 sides so you know the odds. The odds for getting ANYTHING in this game is hidden behind the code that they have already admitted they can change anytime they want server side without a patch. If anything it be nice to have actual odds of getting certain item, not this generic “its a rare drop”. This is why these RNG chest are worse than gambling, at least when I gamble can calculate the odds and even lotto tickets give you the odds on the back of the ticket.

Anyone feel that the consortium is a analogy for ncsoft/nexon who are calling the shots with the ca$h$hop. So far since the games release the most controversial stuff has been associated with the consortium. First was the Nov 17 update with the introduction of the gear trend with ascended gear from a failed portal to southsun that lead to the fractals which is right next to the first consortium base. Now we have RNG chest that most of the time gives nothing useful that cost real $, and the main prize is account bound. Maybe this story has undertones of the relationship between developer and publisher. What are you thoughts.

4. Players can progress and earn the top-tier gear by playing how they truly want to. One may earn ascended gear from doing dungeons, doing pvp, or even doing pve on your own through dailies.
Fanboy lie. Backpeice is exclusive to fractals minus an Apotha Backpeice you get from new content. The earrings are Guild Mission exclusive. The only things that barely meets the statement are rings and necklaces, but they are laurel exclusive.

5. Items sold in the gem-store do not offer advantages when facing other players, and gem store currency can be bought with in-game gold.
On the flip side, currency can be converted into gold, used to buy siege, boosters and other upgrades that can be used in wvw again other players. Again another fib.

7. End-game gear progression is mainly for cosmetic looks, with ascended gear only adding minimal stats above exotic gear, and legendaries having the same stats as exotic gear. This puts an end to constantly ‘needing’ to get new gear, and allows you to do what content you find fun.
yeah a 10% stat gain is “minimal” improvement, wait til ascended weapons come out and tell me if the damage output is just minimal or not. It be interesting to what the a fully geared ascended with basic infusions character compares to a exotic gear character.
But besides that, everything else is true.

So it looks like no dungeon changes were added in this content patch, fractals were once again ignored, and CoF is still the mindless warrior mess of spamming 2 to win even after 4 months of abuse.
So what is the dungeon team doing? Should we expect anything awesome these up coming month? Are we going to get another AC style revamp?

Temporary content sucks, they adds nothing to the game, just a distraction factor while they bilk the masses with their cash shop. What I would rather see with the wasted man hours they used in this content to generate permanent events with a new world boss, a permanent dungeon with more paths soon to come, additional paths to existing dungeons, or additional fractals. Instead we got 4 hours worth of content that can now to forgotten.
And then you compare this crap to the GW1 “Guild Wars Beyond” the equaliant to the living story. Right now I can play the War in Kryta and Winds of Change anytime i log in. It was truely additional content. The living story is a cheap time waster. Why can’t be have more content like GW1!

Like the teleport hack that is becoming more and more widespread, probably nothing until another Dhuums Day like in gw1. It will be interesting to see what happens afterwards. Maybe they are waiting for the accounts to age past 6 months so they can’t get credit card charge backs from the accounts banned.

So after 5 months of fractals being the Worst in RNG BS, will tomorrow be another month of disappointment? Currently fractal weapon acquisition rate are a hot topic with no comment being made. I just want to know if I should hold my breath or not.

It be nice to get at least get a response one way or another about the current fractal rewards. Currently it is wait every month for a change and getting disappointed that nothing is done about it. At least if they say, we like how fractal skins are being rewarded and we won’t be changing them anytime soon it would at least bring closure.

From my experience, if you do lv 38+ daily, the Fractal weapons drop often. I’ve gotten around 5 different ones so far. I can understand why you’d be mad if you’re only doing low level FotM runs, as I don’t think Fractal weapons drop (or maybe more rarely drop) from such low levels.

Trying doing lvls 28,38 and 48 everyday for my spring break(6 days) and not getting a skin, more or less the right skin. Current estimates puts fractal skin drop rates at 10% conservatively, add to the fact that there are 22 skins means that every time you open the chest you have a 1/220 chance to get the item you want.

Currently Fractal Skin acquisition is unacceptable. Currently depends only on a once daily RNG roll with horrible drop rates with no alternative Non-rng method. There is nothing prestigious about hitting the RNG lotto.

Robert, any way we can get a non RNG method of getting fractal weapons, even if it would take a month of fractal running to get them, at least everyday your getting closer to your goal, not just clicking the chest and getting disappointed.

Content isn’t gated by your gear. You can still do all the dungeons.

FotM lvl 20+ says hello, you can’t live past jade maw with 0 ar. Heck FotM is now completely gated at lvl 49 because of the unavoidable agony.

You play for a few minutes everyday to get your laurel. You don’t grind out a 12hr period in a day. You don’t grind for it, just wait for it. I don’t understand the problem.

50 dailies at 20 mins each (not really realistic) to get a BiS amulet with your choice of infusion, that is 16 hours of game play. Congrats it takes longer than 12 hour. The fact that it is dailies hides the fact it is a grind, and slows down the content locusts from getting the item, and releasing they get bored. This game is not long skill based, but grind based. Get best backpeice in game, stack of t6 mats or 1850 tokens, and at least 1 stack of ecto. Yeah there is no grind there. Now we have to grind daily quests to get one amulet per month, i hope you don’t run different builds or run different alts. Prior to Nov i ask question like which alt should i level next, or what new build should I make next for my main, now it just chase the gear treadmill.

Nov 17 update, that what happened to the no grind philosophy. Anet tried to make a horizontal progression game, they didn’t make good gem sells from it, they changed it to a wow clone.

Really interesting question. Our intention is to deploy ascended components and gear across the whole of the game rather than focus it in one particular location. This was a a mistake and one that we will not be making moving forward. We do hope to find a balance and ensure that the world of Guild Wars 2 is as accessible and populated as possible and moving forward you will be able to see how we intend to execute on this goal.

So now we have the next type ascended gear once again pigeon holed into one aspect of the game once again, the daily quest. Where is the multiple pathways to obtaining ascended gear? There should have been at least 3 pathways to obtaining them, with the daily quest being one of them. The other two IMO are 30+ fractals and WvW. Currently they are repeating their “mistake” with this update.

Currently the ways of getting a BiS amulets is either grind dailies for half a month or pay 100+ gold for a triforge. GG anet, just like the ascended backpeices. Either be rich or grind.

Going back to an AMA answer from last month:
“E6:Fractals have become the end-all for making your character stronger. Players are vanishing from maps everywhere to grind grind grind for the now-strongest items they can get ahold of. It’s disruptive to the community, the fun, and the manifesto. What is being done about this?

This ties back to what i was saying earlier in which Ascended Gear and really any progression related reward mechanism that impacts the world globally should be introduced (Where possible) across the game and inside the different type of player’s activities specifically. Allowing players to continue doing the things they love without focusing player migration to a specific part of the world. The introduction of the Ascended reward in one part of the game was a mistake and one that i don’t want to make again.

Soon Ascended Gear will adhere to these rules.

Well either they need to get dr under control or add multiple ways to farm specific materials. I’m farming charged lodestones for my legendary, and when there are ONLY 3 places to farm for them from direct drops, and they all require an event to unlock them, it get really old. It be nice to have multiple places to farm for them.

You also forgot about fixing the teleporting grawl issue. I’m glad that fixing exploit that makes your instances slightly easier are higher priority than fixing the bugs that cheat out your players.

After giving it a week of trying to get any ascended item doing both lvl 10 and lvl 20 fractals and the pure random nature of who gets the privilege to progress in the game and who is stuck in limbo forever, I’m uninstalling this game. The wow kiddies who demands Anet now listen to can have it. The fact that a daily chest is the only means to progress and the drop is not 100% is horrible design. Can’t wait to start seeing infusion items in the gem store just to keep the casuals happy and complete the transformation of this game to a F2P P2W Asian MMO. Manifesto was a lie! Is it to late to get a refund?

To add to the ever growing bad decision making that was the Nov. 17 update, I’ve found myself in a situation I’m sure many other people are currently in. Currently I’m on fractal lvl 21. I’ve never gotten any rings from the daily chests. I’ve never gotten the vial of mist essences so I can make a back piece. At level 20 agony is a 1 shot hit if you have no agony resistance. Vile maul will straight up kill you, not down, kill you during its phase changes and you can’t do anything about it. If your party wipes when you run back in, you’ll be treated with getting straight up killed again when you reenter, and wait for someone with resistance to rez you.
Now what I have an issue is that this gating is 100% depends on your luck. There is no skill involved. It is totally dependent on if you can get that lucky drop from a DAILY chest. Or if you get a rare vial that only drops from fractals 1-9. So what the solution Anet has for me to do. I am required to GRIND lower level fractals for a random drop to make a backpack. Then I’m required to pray to the RNG that I can get ANY ring, may it be useful for my build or not to drop from the daily chest. If I am never lucky, my progress is staled, there is no alternatives. I can’t take my fractal token and trade them in to ascended gear, they back pieces they sell require that RNG vial to upgrade. Character progress now it complete dependent on how lucky your are or how much time you have. RIP the Guild Wars slogan of “Skill>time”. Welcome the Nexon grind machine.

Going to give path 4 another try this weekend to try to get past dwayna and get my DM title. We’re going to try the brute force method to do it. So far the classes that I know are going is a necro, guardian, and ranger. I’m looking for advice on what weapon sets, skills and trait line those members should use to increase our chances of success of killing her with brute force. I’m also interested what skill appeared to work against her with invisible and which ones don’t. Also what other 2 class would be desired for this set up.

Another week that the meta event is broken, denying access to content so certain servers. This need to be fixed, or at least their should be nightly server reset to prevent this bug from lasting for days. Its dumb if this dungeons remains shut for over 50% of the week due to the bug. BTW sorrows furnace server.

It be ok to make her invulnerable IF they made the sparks behave. The fact that the sparks are so hard to get into the spots is ridiculous. BTW I’d sell my soul for a group to brute force her to death

attempted brute force method with my guild tonight, fail at the attempt, just could not out dps the healing. Feel the whole fight is broken and not well play tested. I’d love if the brute force method was removed IF and only if they make it so the pulling the sparks alot more user friendly. Currently they acted to annoying to bother messing with that method. Compared to other team work fights, this is very annoying and takes too kitten long.

This is getting old, this is the third week in the row that the meta event to open the gate of arah is broken on the Sorrow’s Furnace server. And this is after only 2 days after the last patch. Now we have to wait til the next patch until people can actually do this dungeon…

Compensation for Characters Afflicted with Permanant DR

The Permanent DR bug from what I gather from guild members and pugs with similar stories showed to me that some characters were afflicted while other were not. That means that some players receive at best 50% of the reward that other players were gaining doing the same content. And this was NOT hot fix. Because of this I feel afflicted players should be compensated in some way for the incompetently implemented system. The cop out answer of just don’t do dungeons until it is fix is ridiculous. Why do I need to change my play style while other don’t? How is that fair. The DR system was made to combat people who “unfairly” “exploit” dungeon mechanics to complete them quickly. But instead it has put innocent players into a permanent state of DR, and I and others have NEVER gotten 60 tokens from a dungeon run this week. Those few afflicted should be compensated for our troubles.
