3 months latter, still a crap system, especially in the trying to do organized content. Anet needs to stop promoting the spvp which will NEVER become a esport and start fixing their pve side on the glaring issues of lack of end game. Sparkfly and Bloodtide still needs to be revered back to the old system to help control who enters a teq or worm attempt. Or they need to actually add a real raid mechanic, not the half kitten system will have now or allow guild to spawn their own instances that only they can access. And don’t put it behind a 20 merit gate.
My main issue with RNG is that it is ok as long as there is a non rng method of obtaining the item. Even with precursors, you can run dungeons for guaranteed or low risk rewards over a period of time and be able to buy them off the TP. IMO this is fair.
What is unfair is items that have no other method to be obtained other than RNG. These are the account bound RNG items. Currently I can think of 3 main items that fall under this group. I believe a non RNG method should exist to get them, the simpliest is just to remove the account bound and allow them to be sold on the trading post. Or maybe as a pve version of the reward tracks, where you get the items guaranteed if you do the activity for the item 30 times, but it can only progress only once per day(so 30 days of trying to hit the rng jackpot before then just giving you a pitty reward). These items are:
Mega Boss Skins from teq and wurm
Fractal weapons/tonic
Dungeons end boss recipees
These items need a non RNG method, similarly how fractal rings used to have only a rng method until they added the Pristine fractal relics.

Blackmoone Faire was not weekly when it was first released, not even close, it was for X period of time, then it was gone until next year. Then you might as well count Dragon Bash, Gauntlet, Zephyr Sanctum, every mini-game they’ve added, SAB.
Not to mention Southsun Shore, an entire zone.
3 battle grounds? EoTM is as big as all three of those BGs combined (in addition to the already giant WvW maps we had at release).
10 world bosses huh, which were farmed much the same way the world bosses in GW2 are being farmed, and GW2 has more of them. Even worse in WoW those bosses were farmed by the same guilds over and over, leaving everyone else out in the dust. Was good of them to add content that the majority of people never got to experience.
Mauradon and Dire Maul I’ll give you, but both of those combined are less than all of FoTM combined.
[/quote]
Blackmoone fair was a monthly event, lasted a week, came back next month. I never mentioned it was weekly, only the fishing event on sundays. Wow still had holliday events.
Wow did not added an incomplete zone like gw2, they just completed a incomplete zone, Sithilus. So wow fixed a boring zone that people only farmed to be a good quest hub with things to do including a raid instance. Gw added a boring zone the people only farm karka in.
Comparing EotM and WvW is the BG is dumb. I could understand comparing it to AV or open world pvp (which every zone in wow can have pvp in it) . WG and AB can be compared to spvp, but after a year and half latter we still only have conquest, no capture the flag or any other game types (besides a basic team death match). Anet has added maps but no new gameplay options.
I find it funny that you compare the world bosses of wow where you had to have team coordination and strategy to the zerg, autoattack, and loot bosses of this game. This game only has 2 strategy world bosses, teq and worm. And guess what, if your not in the few guild that farm those bosses, you are left out in the dust, just like wow.
And FOTM is so much less than the 5 raids they wow put out. There is no difficult content for coordinated groups can do. Heck with the introduction of the Megaserver, they have made it hard for coordinated groups to form.
Adding FoTM, the new dungeons in FoTM, EoTM, and all of the temp content in between is more than WoW did in the same time period. That’s a fact.
Let see what wow released in a year and half.
Added 2 dungeons multiple paths(Maraudon and dire maul)
Added 4 Raids (Blackwing Lair, Zul’Gurub, Ahn’Qiraj, Naxxramas)
Added 3 Battlegrounds with different game types
Added 10 world bosses
Added the Blackmoon faire and weekly fishing event and holiday events.
Seems that fact is a lie to me.
This content to not made for random pugs. If anything the megaserver have made this content worse for groups with organized people. In my opinion they need to revert bloodtide and sparkfly to the old system so at least we could guest to low pop server and some control on who is on our map. Or better, makes these two encountered instanced and add some sort of raid mechanic. Khyber my best suggestion is to find a group that does it regular and join that guild, other leave those encounters alone so you don’t get into organized groups way.
Our weekly 3 headed wurm event has been ruined by the mega server, it was impossible to get everyone in the same map and they map that we got most people in was full of troll complaining how “our big guild was bossing them around”. This is the first attempt of the wurm having to deal with the mega server. Content that requires 120-150 dedicated coordinated player SHOULD NEVER BE dependent on open world random players. Bloodtide coast and sparkfly need to be rolled back into the old system. No one liked how Marionette would be failed by 3-4 unskilled players, and that was easy content. Now you have made this skill based open world content worse. Unless this is a fix in the work, I’m calling it quits. First yall abandon dungeons, and now you are too interested to please the casuals to mess over those who want to do the hard content.
Thanks anet for changing sparkfly into a megaserver right before a teq spawn. This has made set up for teq extra complicated. Btw this is not listed on the roll out thread or the update notes.
I will eat this dishonorable debuff, i’m protesting skyhammer. If skyhammer pops, i log out.
Currently the mega server majorly gets in the way on guild missions when a guild of 150+. Before the change it is not hard to get everyone in the same server, now it is a nightmare. Something needs to be resolved the guild missions situation.
Condi, power, precision. Basically what rampager should be. With this you open up the possibility of 1 condi spec being included in optimized pve groups.
Yes by all means YES
Seeing how this gem is in the crafting subsection I am reposting it here so more people can see what is NOT being added to the feature patch.
We want to let you know that the ability to build your precursor will not be in our upcoming Feature Pack. The way progression and rewards work in Guild Wars 2 have changed quite a bit since we initially talked about that feature, and our main horizontal progression systems are about to get some additional updates in the upcoming feature pack. Because of that, we are looking into several ways to integrate building your precursor into our new updated reward and progression systems we’re working on, which is requiring additional development time and iteration. As always, we’ll share details on this system once it’s far enough along in production we’re ready to discuss it.
So after a year a half after:
I am definitely working on the precursor scavenger hunt, but like others have said, things like this take time and I want to get it right. Not to mention, it’s not the only thing on my plate. Please do not expect to see the precursor scavenger hunt in the next patch. I may be awesome, but I am still only human and this is a fairly large amount of work to get done and done right. Please be patient!

Personally I wish someone could chronicle all the dev post starting with Lindsey Murdocks post 3 months after launch talking about the concern of precursor prices and continue on until this post here. I would be very interested to see the how stories change and false statements remain in the history.
Hell I wish people could do that with most major issues. Condi damage, Fractal level reset, incomplete patch notes(stealth changes), and dungeon issues since launch. All of these blanket statements were made but nothing came out of them.
is SAB 56 mb large…
Just what I wanted in my DPS power trait line, a healing trait using conditions. PvE version of Dhuumfire is nerfed into the ground, necro are not getting any additional condi support for pve, but hey, warriors get another DPS multiplier.
Many of the fractal achievement seem somewhat bugged. I have had one guild member take 6 months of doing constant run to finally get the hot foot achievement after doing the requirement multiple time. After giving up she randomly got it one run. Currently I am running into the wall with the Shockwave skipper achievement. I have had perfect runs multiple time and it still fails. I’ve also gotten the weapons tester achievement after getting hit early on. It seems certain achievement seem to be rewarded at random, similarly to how the watchknights were behaving.
My solution, make the achievements player events that if they player succeeds they get a champ bag and if they fail they know the instant that they failed. This would help remove the guess work out of the achievements. Also it add replayablity to certain fractal by giving them a “hard mode” reward for redoing the achievement.
Still broken, didn’t get hit by a shock wave, no achievement rewarded. Instead of adding more dredge can we get this achievement fixed
I run a variant of Nemesis’s hybrid build (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKcDOIgEGLU). With crit damage changes, it is already taking a nice dps hit because celestial stats will probably takes the hardest hit with the new change, but add in the change to Dhuum’s Fire and the build is now complete trash. It is getting both nerfed in its bursting damage and condition damage potential. Meanwhile Warriors will remain the Kings of DPS, the pve dungeon meta will not be changed, and Necro damage which is already subpar is also taking nerfs in both power and condi builds. Necro still have no group support, and weak control in pve.
Throw necros a pve bone. Give us cleave on daggers. Keep the PvE/PvP split so that we can get some decent burning when we trigger it, the change both nerfs duration in pve by 1 sec and move the trigger to DS 1. If the balance team was hoping to increase build diversity in pve and break the 3 warrior 1 guard and 1 mesmer meta, they failed, they failed hard.
Keep pve version as is. Make the new version PvP only. Necros don’t need a pve damage nerf, especially a condi damage nerf
I play a hybrid (30/30/0/0/10) necro primarily in pve. The reason for this because it is the best access to aoe damage because necros can not access cleave. I have build my entire ascended set (rampagers) based on this build. The Dhumfire change will nerf necro condition damage in pve where the damage is already subpar to power builds. I understand power builds are also taking a hit, but even at a 10% reduction it still output more dps than the current condition builds.
I understand why Dhumfire need the change in SPvP because there are many threads out there detailing the reasons, but why also change it in PvE where condition damage isn’t breaking the game like zerker damage. I see no change in pve build diversity if zerker will still remain king of DPS while necros take another pve condition damage hit.
I just think people need a better alternative. The 15% tax allows players a greater market of buyer, you don’t have to find your buyer and it can be done everywhere in the world. All of those conveniences would keep the TP very popular. I think it is asinine to compare gw2 with only TP system and gw1 with only a p2p system. How does this compare to WOW or LOTRO or any other MMO where you have both p2p trade AND a mass trade system like an AH. Most of the time people get tired of trying to sell something with p2p and just eat the taxes. This is evident in this game as well, I’ve always sold things at highest seller, and always bought things at lower buyer, 90% people want instant gratification.
I’m glad I am never even giving the option to opt out of this “anti scam” tool. I guess Anet just think I’m too stupid to be able to trade using a standard p2p system.
It is almost like if there was a CoD option for mail, or a direct trade option that exist in ever other MMO on the market, this would not be an issue. But hey we got to keep making Evon richer and richer.
Invite plz ready to kill the dragon
We’re currently looking at a few things regarding individual fractal difficulty and length. A couple of options are reducing the length of unnecessarily long fractals (dredge)
when they only change was to add more dredge including a veteran that has way more health than other vets in the panel room (what makes the fractal tale longer) you can put 2 and 2 together.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Fractals-took-WAY-too-long/first#post2828742
IE, another ANET lie. Instead of shortening the fractal they made it longer. Currently Underground fractal is way out of balance.
Change timer to 30 minutes, 5 minute fix to make the event doable but still challenging.
Add my character to the list.
/age = 12 months
no present in mail
First and only character I made on game launch
Offering can not be put in mystic forge, just attempted it.
How much are you actually going to save ? Even if it was a 100% reduction (doubt it will), what kind of traveling do you even do that will save you a few golds ? Do you like to WP back and forth from Rata Sum all the way to CoF ? Do you somehow manage to jump to every meta event multiple times a day ?
If I were to imagine that everyday I’d pay the same WP fee I did today, I would barely be near 2g…
Let’s assume you’re teleporting around for 1 gold/day. That’s still ~30 gold saved in a month, whereas the discount on keys is worthless to players who don’t want/need them. Quite honestly, it’s very stupid to implement a bonus that is free while the other requires you to invest real life money in order to benefit from it.
You don’t have to invest real life money since you can buy gems with gold.
Funny, I barely have any gold to spend and I am definitely not going to waste that little bit of gold on worthless keys.
Sure but other people have lots of gold. So if you’re poor, it doesn’t change the truth of my statement.
No such thing as a free lunch, someone paid for the gems so it still is a bonus that only applies to spending real money. The gems to gold does not change that, microeconomics 101.
400k votes is a very hard margin to make up. If you asked me a week ago when it was only 100k votes I would think the race wasn’t over, but so little time and lack of interest in doing old content it be hard to make it up.
Guess there won’t be a update today, so probably won’t be update until the event is over
I’d also like a updated vote count, only a few days left.
And it has been 6 months too late. Hopefully the low end rewards apply to cof 1 2 and all of coe.
For those who didn’t play guild wars beyond:war in kryta, you might not know that Anet basically let one of the main characters, Evennia, complete disappear from the narrative. She was sent to Ascalon to seek help, and you see that she makes it there, but then she completely disappears from the story line.
I’m starting to feel like this is happening with the Elder Dragon, for ever update, it seems like we have completely ignored that they exist any more.
Welcome to Anet new ploy to trick people into buying RNG boxes. They tricked people with the promise of “better drops” from rich dragon coffers, which the drop increase was still dismal. Now they are tricking people again saying you will get scraps from BLC are “common”. Here is the thing, they won’t just tell people the % drop rates. They just make general claims, if they won’t just be fore coming with actually drop rates, that should be red flag how much of a scam RNG boxes are. RNG boxes are a scam, don’t buy them no matter what is promised unless they give you REAL odds of winning.
Looks to me to be guild war 1 skins for ettins, probably an easteregg
There’s no gold find in gear. If there was it’d get the same treatment as MF.
Scavenging runes say hi
I bought a golden lotus and the mf infusion. Now that mf is being removed from the game, I don’t want comsumables to replace it. I want my 50 laurals back so I can spend them on useful gear. Some people invested alot of time getting a full set of MF. Instead of just buying cheap pirates, I farmed CM for nobles.
I really can’t give specific timeframes for bug fixes/etc. because if something comes up that delays it, it makes us look deceptive. : (
A fix is currently in testing, once it’s confirmed and cleared it will go into the next available update.
Still broken, but you did manage to put a kite in the zone.
This is why fractals is such a mess that it is in, no one in charge know what the heck they are doing. BTW Jeff, when are you F’N going to do the fixes you mentioned. Char fractal STILL BROKEN. Cliffside STILL BROKEN. Rata Sum STILL BROKEN. Dredge fractal jumping puzzle still works.
If anyone in charge would like to do fractals I’d love to show you are the stuff messed up.
None of the times in gw2 we had situations where it was impossible to get an item.
After doing Hundreds of Fractal daily I have never gotten a fractal dagger due to the double RNG nature. Currently I have never gotten any of the 3 weapon tickets from temporary content, and its not because I haven’t been trying. RNG is RNG, because of this it is very possible for a situation where it will be impossible for someone to get the lucky roll, and the temporary timeline makes it worse. Couple that with what appears that the RNG is not very random which I have definitely observed in fractal daily chests (constantly getting the same fractal weapons and rings with little variations). Whatever their seed they use for their RNG seems to label some accounts a lucky while other will never get anything good.
6 months of farming, around 25 fractal weapons I DON’T WANT, countless rings to the merchant, doing 28/38/48s and no fractal dagger. This is the worst loot system in any game I’ve played. seriously about to quit and never return. I refuse to I buy any blizzard product after the 1.10 patch of WoW and that was close to 10 years ago. Anet is getting a reputation of producing content then abandoning it, which I guess is why they only do temporary content now because after 2 weeks they don’t have to deal with it anymore.
I was being completely sarcastic Robert.
Ah, sorry about that. As a designer I click my mind into a state where I see a problem and try to mentally design a solution to it regardless of its level of sarcasm. That being said, I do like item rewards, but there’s a downside to it in that it’s not always the item you want. There are other games I have played where I would kill a boss 20-30 times and not get the specific item I wanted, and I would just have to keep at it and hope I got lucky. I much prefer the system we have right now where there is a guaranteed token reward to allow me to buy whatI want… although I have been giving thought to a system that also reflects our personal story reward structure, where you could potentially choose one of three things offered at random. Again, just thoughts, but I’m always trying to develop better ways to reward players in dungeons.
I know I’m necro’ing this thread, but I just want to make it known I have farmed Jade maw close to 250 times with 20+ and I have not gotten the fractal weapon of my choice because of the double RNG slot machine that has been implemented. I know fractal is suppose to have a different propose than dungeons, but currently it has worse rewards than dungeons, with higher risks. What is the propose of the fractals that dungeon don’t serve.
While your at it , add fractal weapons to the vendor.
Fractal skins were a good idea. So were dungeon recipes. I don’t think that adding more RNG to Guild Wars 2 is going to make it any better off, there’s enough of it already.
But they made the mistake making fractal weapons account bound. Think how fast of a fix it would be to make them bind on equip and allow them to be sold on the tp. Suddenly it would be rewarding to get that fractal weapon you didn’t want because you can now sell it. Why is it that legionaries can be sold, but fractal weapons can’t?
Legendary weapons can be sold if they have been transmuted, because the item code is still the exotic you put the skin on. The icon of the legendary is the icon of the item you transmuted it onto when you view it on the merchant.
except that dagger does more damage than ax, and has mellee cone aoe auto attacks. The update shown seems to be buffs to the hybrid build more than the direct power.
It will do nothing to the meta as long as the bosses do NOTHING to boons while having so many anti condition mechanics. If bosses had boon stripping or stealing boons that would remove the benefit for stacking warriors. Hell I want to have the banners be killable.
A few to add (all permanent additions):
- Costume Brawl
- New mini-dungeons (Vexa’s Lab, Foresaken Halls)
- Overhaul to AC explorable
- New world bosses (Hydra Queen, Queen Karka)
- Moa racing
Costume Brawl : cashshop minigame
New mini dungeons: out since day 1, just added an achievement for them
Hydra queen: out since day one, just added achievement
Moa Racing: exact same thing as the cow racing that has been disabled for months in diessa
