Server loyalty has gone by the wayside with the constant transfers, bandwagoning and links have ruined it even more and in some cases destroyed servers.
A stable server community was what made things good, seeing the same names and playing with the same people for a long time. Of course, the “fit” has to be right and some servers have their own flavour. Still true but to a much lesser extent these days.
Only loyalty I feel now is to my guild and the people I have been playing with for a long time. Wvw guilds are some of the best in GW2 but sadly the attrition of friends due to the state of wvw is making the game much less fun to play.

I have to strongly agree with OP that wvw is at its worst at the moment…AND this has been the state for the past month and more not just over Christmas as some of you are saying.
I wvw almost exclusively in NA, late NA, early OCX and belong to a smallish wvw guild running 15-20…though fewer these days cos people are not logging on. I love wvw and fights but I am struggling to be engaged with what is offered currently in this blob meta. Where are the even number fights that are the most fun? And the importance of siege has been way overdone…
I have played in T1 thru to T3 recently. T1 mentality of blob or be blobbed is sad but this is not even happening in the prime time of NA except in the weekends. Weekdays are pretty dead outside of prime time. And the population balance is out of whack.
T2 again weekends have good activity but after that…don’t bother logging cos it’s dead. and the pop balance/coverage is not good.
T3 population balance is poor and activity is less than T1 & T2….
There was some semblance of population balance and server rotation before Anet opened BG and continued to leave Mag open…now that is gone and matches are stale again. They seriously need to look at population, coverage, profession balance and to a lesser extent rewards, exclusive skins an so on. There have been some good improvements in the past year but Anet needs to go much further to keep wvw alive.
Seriously, if steps aren’t taken and as soon as possible there won’t be anything left of wvw to play. I’m not the only person who feels this way…most of my guild and friends feel exactly the same.
Definitely need to give us wvw peeps a choice between tomes and wvw consummables. Too many tomes and nothing to do with them, already have too many shards too.
As being an officer in a wvw only guild, flax fibre is killing me. Even with all my toons parked at the flax farm I maybe get 20 flax fibre a day which is not enough to make 2 linen bags…
IMHO there needs to be some adjustment to flax fibre either to slightly improve the drop rate or to reduce the amount needed to make a linen bag.

DEAR GOD!!! Not this stuff again. Please fix currents bugs and lag issues before adding more stuff to the game that may bug or cause issues or be exploited =( There is adding things to help and then there is adding things that go to far. Repair hammers and cannons =( I feel like this is just going to turn into siege wars/blob fests further. It feels like the opposite of help in wvw.

I would like to play WvW on my necro without getting stuck in the ground with reaper shroud 2 just trying to catch up with the zerg or without experiencing or hear someone else experiencing the loading screen bug or vanishing toon bug. As for lag, where to start? So much to say about that!

Reaper…reaper shroud 2 the immob is terrible for this skill at the moment. And not only in fights!!! This happens randomly even when there are no enemies in sight.
As a fat necro I have used reaper shroud 2 to catch up with the zerg in wvw only to more likely than not get stuck in terrain…..this is just travelling with no enemy players around casting skills so RS2 is just bugged!! In a fight it’s just awful.
Thinking of shelving my reaper as this immob has become so bad lately that to use reaper shrouds in fights leads to immob and insta death

fairweather = someone that only comes out when server is winning, which is most of DB, they do quit every time their NA gets rolled by Mag, i think twice? If FA’s NA actually tried a push against DB I am sure DB would quit again

Terrible lag today in wvw, I had to give up playing. My baseline ping is around 200ms (yes I’m OCX) but the rubberbanding and skill lag was unplayable at 1600ms and up to 4500ms. Its clearly evident to all my guildies in game as I just can’t do anything. A couple of other people were complaining in game about the same happening to them…
No problems showing on pingplotter or my traceroute- connection is fine so it must be happening within game. I have filed a support ticket with Anet.

No thanks. Wvw is my main game mode and I do not agree that your idea will improve wvw. For me it is likely the opposite.
EOTM is a totally bleh experience, it has been grouped with wvw but whether it should be considered wvw is another story. It’s just a k train, XP boost no skill mode. No sense of purpose to it.
As for making a megaserver…I can’t imagine how much lag there would be in a map such as this. The recent server link has introduced a huge pile of lag and it is nowhere near the size that you are proposing.
Megaserver=megamess…GW2 hasn’t been the same since it became megaserver for pve-it weckd guilds and wvw.
People jump servers for a variety of reasons, I am a fairly loyal person and enjoy fighting for a particular server in a matchup. To remove servers, would be a big mistake as people do have a sense of belonging and making a contribution to the server they are on and each server has it’s own culture. Megaserver would kill that to death. So a definite no from me.
I noticed that there was stuttering or micro freezes whatever you like to call it after the SAB patch. It just got worse and worse until forced to do a game restart. I am OCX and another friend who plays from Australia was having the same issue. I haven’t noticed the microfreezing since the latest patch but definitely problems with waypointing in wvw particularly in EBG where it can take up to 5 mins to respawn. Experiencing the standard models after a couple of long respawns and my toon is invisible to me after using liche form…this remains until restarting game…something odd is definitely going on. Haven’t noticed it in general play only wvw.
This only happens to me in wvw not other maps which is why I posted this as a wvw bug and I am not getting any strange textures or colours, just takes a very long time to load.

I would also like to see these notificatons removed. It would be perfect if there was the option to turn them off.
These notifications pop up at the most inconvenient times ruining targeting and views in fights.
While the recent changes to the desert bls did make them more playable than at their release they are still nowhere near as enjoyable as the alpine bls. If there is rotation, I would only like to see the desert 1 week out of 4.
Mulzi, don’t know which T1 server you were on today but during NA prime on DB had queues on 2 bl’s and EB. There was much joy in mapchat and teamspeak about the return of alpine and great open field fights to be had. Big win for alpine!!
Having problems when way pointing in EBG in the last week or so, sometimes I get stuck with the EB loading screen for up to 5 mins before it loads. Once this starts to happen, it happens each time I have to waypoint. It is only fixed by a game restart which is rather annoying given the queues in wvw lately.
I have heard others complain of this. Anet can this pleased be fixed.

No.No.No. Don’t wait to address rebalancing. Please adjust following MINIMUM for april update:
1) cloaking waters & pirate ship- both need to be nerfed and cd increased.
2) banners – should be removed or nerfedAs you lower scribe costs the upgrade costs will decrease and more and more people will use these OP mechanics that interfere with balanced wvw.
Totally agree Luvpie, if we must have tactivators in alpine (and unfortunately it seems we do as these are tied to guild upgrades) these need to be balanced asap

Tobias, did you actually read the “5 things most wanted” thread?? There were alot of people who asked that the new gimmicks be removed or to revert to alpine pre HOT.
Just got an interesting conersation with my pals that still play GW2.
Someone brought up that the strongest tactivators should only be usable when a server has the outnumbered buff. Would balance the game a little bit while not power creeping the servers with numbers advantage.

EOTM serves a purpose for leveling easy mode and karma train. But in no way manner shape or form should it be described as wvw or should it have wvw rewards/contribute to wvw rank. EOTM devalues wvw as a game mode…this is where the pve rot started for wvw imho.

Upgrades seems to have generated abit of discussion. One thing that has popped to mind for me is that supply had to be managed before the HOT update and this is possibly contributing to the massive amount of siege that is now able to be built in towers and keeps now. Old upgrade system did put pressure on supply and therefore impacted the siege that could be built…so there definitely is some merit in removing supply via upgrade to generate more siege free fights. The over abundance of supply makes defense of objectives OP with ability to repair gates/walls and build/rebuild siege.
Just one way of looking at it.
What scares me the most is that Anet might see this thread, not read it and all the posts clearly against keeping DBLs and say something like “After careful consideration we have decided that, due to not everyone wanting the DBLs gone, we will keep them and instead work further to improve them”.
There is no easy or quick way to ‘improve’ them, I’m sorry. It’s far too huge, far too complex in terms of levels, far too PvE-ish and the tower/keep bosses are just too gimmicky and strong. When we asked for WvW to get something new, I don’t think most of us meant guild hall-built upgrades (which discourage very small guilds/roaming guilds, by the way, because where are we meant to get the materials?), the completely stupid banners, cloaking waters etc.
Sure it may be possible for a small guild to get these materials, but in the end why would we? If it takes so long to get into the only map worth playing, EB, because it has a 50+ man queue most of the time because no one wants to play on the DBLs.
Going back to ABLs may not necessarily fix WvW completely or bring back all who left already, but that’s an argument for getting rid of DBLs in itself – people who play WvW are leaving this game for others. Please don’t push the rest away too.

Along with the go back to alpine there has been a large response asking for the removal of all the crap that came to wvw with HOT! And even reverting to pre June 2015 patch with regard to stab…
I think the wvw community response to Anet has been clear. The majority of people want the DBL gone and all the stuff that came with HOT removed. The majority of people want fights not defensive tower hugging, siege humping kittentiness that the current DBL and the HOT gimmicks encourage and reward.
Sorry this doesn’t appeal to me at all…the screen is far to busy in wvw now with names without additional clutter. I don’t play wvw for rank, rank is a by product of playing wvw but it would be nice to get better loot for a higher rank
When you see the amount of work/grind that has to go into each step of the new legendarys-I hate to think of the amount of coding to produce this. You only have to take a look a the bug thread or reddit to see how easy these are to mess up. Given the state of wvw and the general discontent with game, legendary development seems to be a luxury item that can possibly be put on the back burner.
What do we want?? Game content or legendary weaps….legendary is only something I do if I’m bored and have some gold to waste. Since gold is not so easy to make these days welp I’m gonna go for content, wvw first and foremost. I have made 3 legendaries and currently in the finishing stages of Astralaria….darned if I want to go through making another of these new legendaries-just too much grind.
Be easier to go back to the old way of precursor drop or buying from tp-save all that coding work and bugs to “collection” events introduced with every patch! Hey, everyone likes the thought of a precursor drop-kinda lessens the fun to know that you aren’t going to get one of the new ones as a drop.
AS for legendary armour and backpacks…meh who wants more power creep? Not me, balance is broken enough. Give us something to play- I don’t want to stand at the crafting station or mystic forge getting more rsi from clicking!!
Raids-seem to me to have a limited audience, are quite exclusive on a number of levels. Alot of work for the coders but are there the numbers playing that type of content to justify?
I wish they would remove the ability to join more than 1 guild,i think being able to join so many guilds removes that loyalty element,the feeling of belonging to a group not tons of groups,i never liked how gw2 handles guilds….
I have to disagree Nury, its because of my loyalty that I don’t want to have to drop the guilds that I belong to. As I explained, 4 are wvw guilds that all run at different times. I love these guilds hence my dilemma. You can belong and be loyal to your 1 guild if there are 5 or 10 guild slots-you have no desire to use them but some of us do and that does not make us any less loyal than you.
A lot of veterans also have a personal guild bank, so you can add that one to the list.
I have a guild bank too. But I’ve never really understood needing a guild for every little thing in GW2.
Maybe I don’t want to drop the guilds I have and I still want to join up with a friend who only does WvW now and be in that guild. Or maybe I want to join up with another friend whose in a different guild so I can listen/talk in their guild chat and if they do things as a group, I can join them without hoping/waiting for an invite to me, a non guildie.
Different strokes for different folks you know, if that’s not anything you’re interested in.
I have friends in other guilds, but then that’s why we have a friends list. I don’t need to be in there guild to do things with them, or there guild. But as you said, different things for different people.
I guess it depends what game mode you play the most cos if you wvw alot these days you need to belong to multiple wvw guilds to get a decent amount of gameplay especially if you play across different time zones-friends lists don’t help with that! If you pve mainly I guess 5 might be enough. but for me it’s really restrictive.
I have never had the spare slot for a personal guild and I would love one! And I would also like the flexibility to belong to a raid guild so yeah I would love more slots.
I haven’t even considered a personal guild cos I have never had the space, so increasing guild slots to 10 would be great for me.
Not so hard and you don’t really need guilds for pve or world bosses.
I do alot of wvw so i have 4 wvw guilds that I belong to…doesn’t leave alot of room for other things. Most wvw players would be in a similar position. Also been in game since just after launch so have connections that I like to maintain in addition to friends list otherwise the friends list becomes a huge unwieldy thing.
Personally, I have been finding it tough that I only have 5 guild slots.
Lately, with the introduction of more specific content like raids where joining a raid specific guild seems to be the only way of getting into it successfully…I don’t have enough guild slots. I don’t want to have to quit the 5 guilds that I have already as they all have friends and other connections BUT there is no alternative.
Anyone else who would like to see more guild slots added?

T1 can still muster numbers on the home bl….just! But good fights sadly not, cos the terrain, cripple and kitten get in the way.
One thing is for sure, that time is running out for Anet to make some decent changes to wvw to bring people back. 1 out of 5 of the wvw guilds that I belonged to post HOT are still active and that last one barely. Sooo many wvw guilds have died since HOT.
I know that some are waiting to see what the April wvw patch produces before coming back.

-Revert the June 2015 patch-bring back stability and melee relevance
-Revert to pre HOT maps and state or bring new maps without banner, airships, chilling fog, shield generators, stealth pools etc-many wvw guilds are small so are completely -disadvantaged with the HOT changes
-Scoring needs to discourage backcapping and k-training
-Siege nerf
-Rewards need to be increased so that they are special, relevant and wvw currency needs to be made to be much more useful. Wvw is not self sustaining as it is, have to pve to get gold for food and equipment for wvw.

Oh yes please do scrap these DBL’s in their present form with their indirect long routes to get anywhere, ugly chokes, terrible terrain for fights and nauseating gimmick pve crap. These DBL’s have driven off wvw players in their droves and the resulting queues for EB and the blob fights, banners, airships and chilling fog have driven off almost the rest. Of the 5 wvw guilds that I have belonged to that were all active post HOT only 1 remains and that is barely holding on by the skin of it’s teeth.
DBL’s are far too in favour of siege and most people who solely wvw prefer fights and skill, siege requires 0 skill.
Lovely maps for pve but absolutely NOT for wvw.
Same thing happened to me yesterday, endured a tragically slow and prolonged fight to fall down when island destroyed on last fight and got stuck dead in the map just as we killed Mordie. Can’t waypoint and even though I joined on another person in the map I couldn’t waypoint to resurrect and get back to collect loot or crystalline ore <——main reason for doing this thing!! Couldn’t wp to another map zone either had to relog so I could wp to another zone totally screwed over.
Anet fix your kitten!!!
Erm…..the last thing that wvw needs at the moment is stronger defense. Defensive capabilities are already way over powered!

1. Reset back to Friday night.
2. Remove banners, airships, chilling fog, shield generators and automatic upgrades. Keep the emergency way point. People shouldn’t be disadvantaged in wvw because they belong to a small guild.
3. Revert to alpine borderland or if this isn’t possible desert bl must be reworked to decrease total area and verticality, make easy direct routes to objectives, remove rock wall popups and choke points.
4. WvW reward tracks with loot specific/unique to wvw. Make wvw currencies useful.
5. World population imbalance needs to be addressed. Some servers currently have a large pve population whereas others are almost exclusively wvw
6. Siege needs to be reworked. Currently the amount of AC’s that can be placed is ridiculously high. Decrease the amount that can be placed, increase cooldown on skills and operator conditions should not be applied thru siege, decrease the damage that siege can do to players.
7. No PVE gimmicks please, plenty of room for open field fights

Desert bl can go to hell for all I care, that and all the other garbage they added with hot ruined wvw and destroyed my desire for it. I only do wvw now because I want to play with my guild, there is little personal desire like before where I would want to jump in anytime I was online. I cannot contain my disgust for anet and what they did.
I don’t like the idea of a flat map, flat areas definitely but not the entire map, there needs to be some kind of diversity. The problem is the desert bl went to an extreme with that idea with the verticality bs, it feels like I’m going through a maze plus jumping puzzle. The alpine bl had some flaws with the layout but it was better designed for more strategic and key word FUN fights, the desert bl is not.
-Bring Back Alpine Map
-Get rid of Oasis event, the lag has gotten worse since you “fixed” it
-Revert Change to waypoints, they should be built not automatic
-The gimmicky garbage they added needs to be removed or heavily nerfed
-Nerf siege use against players, enough of the kitten siege wars and siegehumping cancer
-Create a wvw reward track, not progressable in eotm
-Change scoring system to award points on cap (PPC) based on upgrade tier of objective taken. Make PPT reflect the tiers of objectives, paper t1 keeps should not give the same PPC and PPT as an upgraded t3 keep.
For Example: Capping or Holding a keep would score like this

most important issue with ppk is that you can farm them with siege bunkering. not that big deal atm because nobody is tryhard defending atm, but when next tournament begin it will be big problem.
vote for a debuff “not worth any ppk” when you got hit by siege in the last 30 seconds. it should not be rewarding farm kills with ac´s.
Olli , agree but siege bunkering is already a big problem when facing a server like YB. The amount of siege in keeps and towers is staggering! I’m all for PPK to promote fights but something needs to be done about the siege contribution to PPK. Siege in invulnerable places, shield generators, banners, airship and chilling fog are all cheesy and OP barriers to meaningful PPK and good fights. Doesn’t take any skill at all to use those things and rewards the no skill players/servers that have heaps of gold or have high level guild halls.
Siege really needs to be looked at, damage reduced or cooldowns increased. Some need to be eliminated from the game.
It’s time WvW rewarded skilled players/commanders for fights not through cheesy “defense”. People might come back to GW2 and WvW if this was the case, as it is I think 9 out of 10 WvW guilds have died since the HOT WvW changes and this attrition will continue if there are not changes made SOONEST!
I read it, still think that what you are trying to do has the best intentions but unconvinced the outcome will be any different structure wise than what we currently have.
