There is a workaround which is almost as simple as /report.
You can /w <botname> Caught! (or whatever you want) so that your whisper to him appears in your chatwindow, then rightlick his name. When you rightclick the botters name, you will have the menu option to report him.

How to define wiping (one guy wiping, party resetting fight, all dead)?

“Wipe” means “all party members died”. It comes from “wipeout”. A single person dying is a death, not a wipe. I don’t know why some people chose to start calling dying “wiping”, probably a desire to sound more “cool”.

First of all your system would be so horrible to this game skill-wise. They removed wp-zerging because people threw themselves at bosses wiping constantly. This is what your system is encouraging.

It is not. Waypoint zerging has nothing at all to do with “my system”. Also, I did not suggest to re-enable waypoint porting for groups in combat.

It would be also quite big effort balancing all encounters and ensuring wiping is not exploitable. And what’s the gain? People can faceroll. Just seems more trouble than it’s worth.

And the revamp that has been done was no effort? I think the designer would disagree.
Also, an exploit is supposed to gain you something. Wiping on purpose would not gain you something but lower the reward (or not give a bonus for not wiping).
Did you read the post or just skim it?

People don’t really care about improving. They rather afk-ranged with exploits than learn the encounter and melee much faster.

There sure are such people. But generalizing as much as you do is just cynical.

I’m fine with making AC faceroll-dungeon but first remove its “level 80”-rewards.

Lowering the rewards for people who play bad is already included in “my system”. Again, did you really read it? What do you suggest, give level 80 players who are bad at the game level 60 rewards? Or no reward at all? Seeing how you look down on them, I guess you do not want them to get anything at all.

However, I think story-modes should be re-made to reflect explorables more and have improved learning-value. Introduce explorable-mechanics, with reduced difficulty and with npcs guiding you.

Sure, just come up with a system of your own and make a post in the suggestion forum. As “my system” includes lowered rewards for the completion of dungeons that were made easier for bad players, you could ask for a legendary for lazy players that has lower stats. Or has no slot for a rune. Or has no fancy graphics effect

On the other hand, some (you?) want them to be like you can just go unprepared without needing to learn mechanics/bosses (this is what I refer with facerolling) and still win. And this is the very reason we are seeing so many complaints.
I realize it’s not nice that everyone can’t do it and I think there should be better learning curve (generally). But truth is, I’m all up for a challenge and that’s design I will support.

First of all, no it was not “me” I was talking about. I have 2 accounts, multiple level 80s with excellent gear and I run dungeons with friends and guild in teamspeak. However, the “who” does not really matter and only shows once again that you look down on people with little skill. Fact is, there are people who are less good at games, and they want to have fun playing too.

A good/successful game does not send “You are not good enough so you are not allowed in this dungeon” as a message to its players. As I said before, it is not the new dungeon design that is bad. What is really bad, is that this revamped starter dungeon will discourage many casual players from trying/playing dungeons. I will just give one example on how the whole “revamp” could have been done much better (besides the obvious introduction of different skill levels for dungeon runs):

Let the game realize when the group is not good enough. Just as an example if a group wipes twice at one encounter, make it slightly easier. Decrease the number of adds, spawn them with less hp, remove some nasty mechanics. Make it so that the group does not quit in disgust, but still manages to complete the objective. At the end of the dungeon, present a summary of which encounters can be handled better. At the same time, introduce a small bonus for each encounter that was handled well. This will let “bad” players still have fun, and at the same time tell them where to improve and give them an incentive. A group manages to finish an encounter exceptionally fast? Great, give them a little bonus. A group struggles and the boss is still only at 90% hp after 5 minutes because people have bad equipment and do not play well together? Make it easier for them so that they may still finish the dungeon, but have them get a slightly smaller reward chest to reflect the toned down difficulty (again, this would be stated in the summary at the end).

Something like that is even already in the game. When a shaman manages to push a prisoner into the lava in the grawl fractal, the chest for this encounter will not spawn upon completion. But if the group manages to keep all prisoners alive, they get the little bonus for handling the encounter “well”. The general idea behind that particular game mechanic could be used much more than it is now.

PS: Please do not pluck apart details of what I wrote. I was giving examples and a general idea. The exact implementation would of course be a little more complicated than a basic “if a group wipes, spawn less adds”.

After running every path just once:
Again, I can solo Spider Queen on my full-glass melee Warrior. If your team has issues with Queen perhaps you should analyze what you are doing wrong.
If knocks are issue then dodge better.
Hatchling changes are good, can’t just ignore them now. Shutting down Breeder is a lot more important.
Silvers have less health, who can complain about this?
Howling King was easy, three manned it. You can just run around and they hardly catch you.
Ghost Eater was bit weird, idea is nice but execution might be a problem (we just pulled it to one trap which means oozes spawned right on the trap so we had to just hover them).
Colossus was bit problematic. Relying on melee NPC, well, is very unreliable.

But I can see it being problematic because just facerolling seems quite hard (until you guys figure out some exploits).

The problem with your “argumentation” is that you do not seem to realize that your skill obviously is a good deal above average, and that not everyone with a skill below average is able to become as good. Instead of being glad that you are good at the game, you seem to feel the need to bash at those people who cannot control their character as well as you can, even when they try hard. Implying that people who have problems staying alive just suck and “faceroll” is rude and unneeded. Also your generalizing remark about “you guys” finding some exploits is pretty arrogant.

The dungeon with its current skill level would be ok if implemented as a challenge to level 80 players (who have decent gear and a good deal of experience). As an entry level dungeon with an (explicitly stated) “Level 35” requirement it seems more like a bad joke.

If the task would have been “make a hard mode version of AC for level 80 players that use voicechat”, I would consider the changes a success, although the rewards should have been upped as well then (maybe increased amount of tokens by 25%).

But that was not the task. The game considers this dungeon explicitly for level 35 (not 40) players and above. In the current state, most players in this level range will not be able to do this dungeon anymore. It does not matter that it is technically possible to do the dungeon at level 35. Put a pick-up group of players together and put them in this dungeon, and they will most likely fail to complete encounters repeatedly, and not bother to return until they are high level (if at all).

The changes excluded not only lower level players from the low level dungeon, it also excluded players who are not “highly skilled”. Players who are skilled tend to look down on players who are less skilled. However, the game company should make sure that players who are less skilled than average can still have fun playing their game. This is no longer the case in this dungeon.

tl.dr:
You took away a game element for casual players and replaced it with a game element for skilled high level players. It is not the new dungeon design that is bad. It is the de facto removal of a dungeon for lower level players, and players who are not near-perfect at the game which is bad.

Whenever people talk about bots some players come with the argument “I don’t mind them, they just keep prices down”. This is so shortsighted and selfish that it just shows an immature and egoistical mindset. These bots operate for the goldsellers, the gold they make by selling the mats is sold to other players, harming the game and the company.

You could just as well say “Oh, I don’t mind burglars, they are good for the economy, they steal items so that people need to buy new ones”. Likewise: the more drugdealers the better, because they keep the prices on drugs down so the addicts have to commit fewer criminal acts to get their drugs. This brings down criminality, which is great, no? Yes, we definitely need more drug dealers.

Or was that your hoster and you did not notice? You could try to crop the original screenshot down to an area of 738×514 around the middle, so that despite the small image size your character would be much better to see

This skill does no damage and does not require you to have anything targetted.
The skill’s effect is the same when having a mob targeted as when having no target.
However, if you have a mob targetted when using the skill, your pet will start attacking it.

Please, before anyone does a quick reply like “of course your pet will attack the mob, you used a weapon skill”: Other weapon skills that do not require your character to have a specific mob as target do not trigger your pet attacking your current target (like the longbow attack skill #5).

Also as a hint: Someone making a topic on a gameforum, and within 20 minutes getting more than ten positive/supportive replies and not a single negative one is not that common. If you see something like that, you have likely found one of those suggestions that are actually safe to implement without causing illogical outcries of despair in the playerbase

So instead of finally removing the annoying red banner for everyone who has not been “hacked” after so many months NOW you make it mandatory after all? You say “there is no advantage to wait until february 7th” to change it. Well, if you make it mandatory, then there also was no advantage for you to wait three months to do so.

Everyone still using the same password now after all those months without getting hacked most probably is NOT on those password/accountname lists that the hackers use, or he would have been hacked by now. I am really disappointed in having to choose a new password now, with my history of never having any account problems in any game in more than 12 years of playing online games.

That sounds much more like random players (who happened to be rangers) using an “invulnerability while downed” exploit than a bug with the ranger pet. I know I died plenty of times underwater at various occasions and was not miraculously saved by a super-healing pet outhealing all the incoming damage, and I have read threads about downed players in wvw exploiting to be unkillable (without water or pets involved) in the past.

I did not tell him what to consider fun. My post included that it is not fun as an assumption based on common sense. If you think otherwise, your probably have no idea how obsessive some players are and to what extent he would need to be farming to rise up into the top 200 of the whole userbase. If you want to argue that obsessive behaviour equals fun for those affected, you should learn a bit about psychology.

If you are not just being sarcastic, but seriously consider that out of many hundreds of thousands of players you might be (or become) one of the top 200 people to use those picks, then it may actually be a good idea to refrain from doing that and do something fun instead (like playing the game instead of farming for hours).

So my question is: Is there a (temporary) email problem at arenanet and do other people currently experience problems sending mail there? Or is my email provider blacklisted for some strange reason (it is one of the bigger german internet companies named 1&1)? After reading report after report about those masses of teleporting gathering bots, I saw one of them for the second time ever (and I play a lot, daily). I wonder why some people seem to see loads of them and I do not. You can trust me to be extremely sensitive to the botting issue, as I was kind of “forced out” of my previous game (Lineage2) because I could not stand the rampant botting there anymore.

So after seeing that one cheater yesterday, I decided to stick around the node and wait, and report all the other teleport bots. Long story short, I spent 35 minutes sitting at that node, and in total I saw and reported only two teleporting gatherbots (including the first one that made me stay and lurk).

Now, maybe it was a node that was not “extremely desired”. It was a “rich” node, but only platinum. Can anyone recommend me a permanent rich node that I can go and sit for a while and report those masses of bots porting in and out, or are people just exaggerating so much?

If you did not open them, you were not able to click the “report” icon. Asking ArenaNet to “do something” yet refusing to do the very simple task that all players were repeatedly asked to do to help ArenaNet act (report the mails) is kind of paradox.

Why do you care if people adjust their monitor or the website background?

My white is not “so bright that it hurts my eyes” (the OP was probably exaggerating a bit to make his point…) and I do not use any special monitor. It is just white, you know….bright and luminous. I do not want it as a background for anything.

Why would I “adjust my monitor” so that the white light no longer bothers me, only to end up with unwatchable Youtube videos, photos that look like someone forgot to take off the lenscap and a game that appears to be permanently stuck in the middle of a cloudy moonless night?

The smart way is to get rid of the bright white background. The weird way is to turn down the monitor brightness.

I just had my first message, but others are getting a lot of them.
I do have a theory where they come from:

I am not usually doing sPVP and I am not going to the heart of the mist. However, today I went there. When I exited back to Lions Arch, I noticed a Level 2 Human standing there, looking a little out of place. He also had a typical throw-away name and a similar throw-away ID (you know, random letters hammered in, making no sense at all). This level 2 human was moving every 10 seconds some meters to the right – and then 10 seconds later he went back to the left, so I figured it was a bot with some odd script error which does not manage to get where it is supposed to be. But then I came to the forums, and I had my first “I LOVE YOU” PM.

I strongly suspect this level 2 human run-back-and-forth-at-the-heart-of-the-mists-portals is scanning everyone coming out of those portals and then automatically forwards the IDs he sees to a spambot sending out these messages.

So please ArenaNet, I know you are busy cracking down on those spammers – it probably would be a good idea to do a quick check on all servers for bots lingering at the heart of the mists area in Lions Arch.

PS: I sent a link to my post to exploits@arenanet.com. If there is some other team that should be informed, it would be nice if any staff/moderator would forward this information to them. Cheers

Mobile authenticator not working ?

It should’ve asked every time from the beginning with “opt out” feature in final version. When people install mobile authenticator – they expect and are ready to enter code every time they log in game or site. For everyone else there e-mail authentication with “remember network” checkbox.

How do you know what “people” expect?
I installed the mobile authenticator to prevent anyone from a different city/isp etc. to log into my account. I expected to whitelist my IP mask once (like for example “whenever a login attempt comes from 93.112.. allow it” and never to be bothered by the thing again (I have a dynamic IP from a certain range). Instead, it asked me for the code every single time I logged in when it was first introduced. Not only I considered that highly annoying, there were multiple posts about how this should be changed. The way it is now is how I had expected it to be. If anyone needs a paranoia mode and wants to allow each attempt even from his own usual IP/IP mask, that is perfectly fine with me – I do not want that.

About the monthly achievement thing:
This is not really on topic, but come on…the fractal monthly has only 1 tier and it is only 7 runs. That translates to 1 fractal run about every 4 days. For every “achievement” you will find someone who will not want to do it. How about wvw kills? Fine for pvp people, a hassle for those who dislike any pvp. Jumping puzzles? People complain although they only need to go there without having to finish them. Probably there are also people who do not want to be “forced” to do events – for everything “demanded” from us to fulfil an “achievement”, there will people who will not want to be bothered to do it.

The mats things is a seperate topic that I don’t know enough about to comment, I am not a crafting master and I don’t care for a legendary weapon, so I can play pretty relaxed. Also I don’t mind the fractals, so I don’t have a problem going there occasionally.

But…but…why should he have to settle for two crafted second-best rings when he can just stop playing for a few months and wait until he can get the best ones (without doing fractals) so that the game becomes worthwhile to play again. Noone should be forced by ArenaNet to use anything else but the best item in any slot, ever

Im still offline and waiting for NEWS from ArenaNet when the problem ist fixed.

Did you use your feet to walk everywhere, refusing to use a bicycle/scooter until you were able to get a car? Are you driving a car now, and if so: is it the best car that you can buy for money?
Did you refuse to buy a computer until you could afford the top-of-the-line machine available on the market?

If not, why are you refusing to play a game just because you cannot obtain one little item that is just marginally better than other items by the method that you want to obtain it? (Not like you could not obtain it by the method that every other person playing the game does, if it really was so important to you).

To me it seems as if the ascended items have an undocumented real-life side-effect of making tantrum-throwing complainers out of previously sensible players

If you insist that you cannot live with playing a char that “only” has the second best jewellery in the game (and refuse to obtain the best one by the currently available means), then yes, you will have to get offline and wait until it is “fixed”.

I feel honestly sorry for those who think having the best of everything is the only way to be able to play the game. I am lucky to be able to enjoy playing this game for months now without even having full exotic armor or jewellery.

Can't finish monthly jumping puzzles

There was another post mentioning Lions Arch and overflow servers claiming you can complete the whole monthly JP task in about 15 minutes there (by logging in and out and redisovering the same puzzle on multiple servers).

It took me a lot longer than 15 minutes and I used several chars, but I can confirm that overflow servers count seperately towards the achievement. In any case it will be faster than making and deleting 30 characters

First off: I do not believe you will get that sword. There is no “trade” except by means of the auction house, which has been stated by ArenaNet numerous times as having been implemented specifially with the intention of preventing what you just describe.
Anything you send per mail to any other player becomes his. And please do not rant at me for telling you this, I did not make those rules.

However, the customer service clearly did not take the time to read and understand your inquiry, which is very frustrating. Unfortunately it happens at all sorts of businesses, it hasn’t even been 2 weeks since I got a similarly unhelpful reply from my health insurance. Post a followup and tell them politely that they should please reread your inquiry as they did not understand what it was about, and explain it again in simple (but different) words. Good luck.

Speaking of gems……Some of the banned players purchased gems, converted to gold, and shared with friends/family. Why would an RMT use their credit card to sell gold at a loss? These are obviously real people that didn’t need to be banned.

Oh please. Of course they would not using “their” credit cards. They use stolen credit cards as one of their numerous means to acquire the gold they sell. Other means include farming bots and the stripping of stolen accounts (and then making farming bots out of those accounts….).

Claiming I’m a gold seller or not is a strawman argument. With as much information as we know ANET has access to, there is nothing I’ve done or can do that a gold seller couldn’t also do. However, why does ANET have to ban for sending gold at all? Is that really the only way to screen for gold sellers? Why is that system in place, when there are so many legitimate reasons for sending gold to each other?

To this discussion, I’m providing one legitimate reason for sending gold to other people. Other people are providing more examples of how any player might do it. That means proving that a gold seller is able to do everything I’ve done has no relation to this topic

1) Nowhere in my post did I claim you were a goldseller. In fact, as you were unbanned quickly, you most definitely are not, which is quite obvious. There was no strawman argument in my post.
2) Noone here claimed that banning for sending gold was “the only way to screen for goldsellers”.
3) The system is in place to catch the non-legitimate cases. There are thousands over thousands of users sending gold to other users every day and they are not getting banned. It is just the few extreme cases like yours with your goldseller-like mailing behaviour which end up getting a (unjustified) ban (which was undone quickly after a review).
4) Providing that a gold seller usually does what you have done (send gold to numerous people) has no relation to this topic? Of course it has. Is was the reason for your ban and thus for your topic. Had you not sent sizeable amounts of gold to numerous accounts, you would not have been banned. This does not imply that the ban was justified, that you may not send gold to other people, or that arenanet did not make a mistake. However, claiming that drawing the obvious connection between a gold sellers behaviour and your behaviour is not related to the topic is nonsense.

I came to this game because people got bans for exploiting the karma weapons. Not despite, but because. I was playing Lineage2, a game that I really liked but it had cheaters all over the place. Not just some. Not just loads. They were everywhere.
You could not play anywhere without running into botted players, not goldfarmerbots named Lughyfghenjnf but normal regular player chars, who were undoubtedly and obviously botting. This game, that I really liked, was totally ruined by the lenient stance NCSoft took on cheating, and I was extremely happy to find a new game that appealed to me where the company actually would do something against cheaters. And hey, I have absolutely no fear of getting banned. None. Not for exploiting, not for making hundreds of gold on the auction house by loophole recipes, not for botting. I am absolutely confident that my account will be neither “hacked” nor banned ever, even years from now. Just as my Lineage2 accounts.

Now you on the other hand give gold away on a regular basis to all sorts of random people and then wonder that you get caught by a ban? Oh my, who would have thought this could happen. Maybe a sensible person would realize that sending numerous mails with sizeable amounts of gold to random people who are absolutely not affiliated with your account is exactly what goldsellers are doing? And no, just because you somehow managed to successfully play “Trade Wars 2” and make a fortune on the auction house does not mean that 1 or 2 gold is a small amount. People who play the game normally, without using market surveillance tools like GWSpidey or spend hours buying or selling often do not have more than a few gold total on their account. Friends of mine do not have that much time to play and they have been playing for months and neither of them has more than a few gold.

So you got one ban so far, which was (quickly) taken back after reviewing your account? And here you are, scared like hell, contemplating what might happen, imagining doomsday scenarios of evil customer support employees thinking things like “this account was banned 10 times already, this time I will not take it back”? Oh my.

To me, the story just proves how effective ArenaNet handles cheaters and how reliable they unban innocent people after a review, and how paranoid some players are concerning bans.

Snowman transform?

I have not bought any chests with gems and I have two snowman transform tonics in my bank, so they were not exclusive to the store chests.

I may have gotten them either as reward for the daily chest in the jumping puzzle (likely) or possibly from one of the many hundreds of normal giftboxes I opened.

I also have two reindeer tonics btw.

Indeed this “sloppy fighting motivation” behaviour seems to apply to the 60second sylvari racial pets as well.
They cannot be commanded the way a ranger pet can, and probably are controlled just the same way as Necro minions. I have noticed quite often that my sylvari pet just sits there and inspects his surroundings while I fight mobs. It would be nice if a fix to necro minions would affect these pets similarly. Thanks.

Big patch

There is a new building in Lions Arch (actually the building has been there even before downloading the patch, but maybe some of the patch data is connected to that building)
.
You can find it in the lower left corner of Lions Arch, at the end of the horizontal road (not the vertical road leading down to the birdpeople wall) When I found that building two days ago, the ingame map still showed the “old version” of the bridge and terrain. I did not check yet if the map has been updated already.

Cannot confirm the “time of day” theory. Server reset is at 1am my time too but I know I did at least one run with empty chests around 8pm.

Logged in 10 mins ago to do the jumping puzzle, finished it, got an empty chest. So I missed my daily reward for it yet again, come on I cannot be that fast every time that the game would confuse me with someone teleporting there? What am I supposed to do, wait outside for 10 seconds before jumping in, so that I miss the next run when porting back to the starting area?? This is getting really annoying, regardless if it is a real bug or some kind of very badly implemented exploiting protection.

Also there is no official statement in ANY of the many posts about this weather this has been acknowledged as a bug, or if there is any way to prevent it from happening. I cant help but feeling ignored.

There have been posts about this before but I think not in the bugs forum where it seems indeed to belong.

I have also already had this experience, finished the puzzle, opened the chest for the first time on that day and got absolutely nothing. I stood there and said that the chest was totally empty in /s chat and the guy next to me who came through a second after me said that he also got a completely empty chest. On the next run I got my usual 3 presents.

I am often very fast with my runs as I have a lot of practice already, but I do not recall if the empty chest was on an extremely fast run.

This is some thing that I think is unintended how ever. Experienced this myself today.

I had the same issue today as well. Did the puzzle for the first time (on this day), opened the chest and got absolutely nothing. I stared a little in disbelief and then told the other guy who was standing next to me (who also just finished the puzzle with me) that my chest was completely empty, and he said it was the same for him!

Either this is an amazing coincidence, or the chest itself may be temporarily bugged concerning the daily reward.

Btw. I completed the puzzle again right after this and got my usual 3 gifts.

The look does not come from the storage bag but from the backpiece you are wearing. You can untick the box and it will become invisible.

Only if it is an unconscious Asura. You will need to make a loud noise that sounds remotely as if someone was constructing/repairing/dismantling something and he will wake up and jump out of the bag. Then you can fill it with something else. Preferably nothing unconscious (or conscious, for that matter).

The game has been released 4 months ago. You have been urging players for quite a while to change their password, after you implemented that blacklist after people initially chose their passwords, attempting to minimize account thefts.

Can we please be left alone now? It has been weeks and weeks and weeks since you implemented that blacklist, and people probably have already been “hacked” (as they call it) if they used account information that was already compromised. Can you either just drop this, or maybe run a database check for accounts that show no sign of “repeated failed access attempts” or “password probing” or whatever, and stop bugging those accounts to change their perfectly safe password? Noone has “hacked” my Lineage2 account(s) in 8 years, and noone will hack my GW2 account(s), yet I have to see that message in red every single day

Jumping Puzzle compromise

There is no way that various difficulty levels will make people happy. People complain and complain and complain and then some. You really really do not see what will be coming when they do a jumping puzzle with -lets say three- difficulty levels?

People will whine about the hardest difficulty level being too hard and that they cannot do it, but they feel entitled to be able to complete the puzzle on ALL levels just like other people – they don’t want to be excluded by not being able to manage the hard level of the puzzle. THATS how whiny people are! Don’t you see this by reading post after post on these forums?

By the way I managed the jumping puzzle on second try. It took me about 5 hours to complete the clockwork tower for the first time.

Invisible walls between zones are killing me

There are still several holes where -with some jumping practice and a good eye for it- you can get to the “edge” of your current area. Your worldmap will often pretend that there is some kind of terrain between areas, or to the side of areas. But once you reach a bit of terrain that the game will normally not allow you to reach (in order to preserve the illusion of a “world”, usually high cliffs or hills), you will realize that there is nothing at all beyond there. You will stare at a blue-ish endless horizon with water at ground level, instead of being able to “cross over” to the next area without using an Asura Gate.

Just one example: You make a new sylvari and start at the Astorea Waypoint. You cannot go south, because the usual cliffs/hills are blocking your way, but your map clearly shows you terrain to the south, leading to the grove. The only way to the grove however is by entering the Asura Gate.

You would like to go south, and climb across this hill that is blocking your path – but you cannot, because there is literally nothing there behind the hill. The Caledon Forest area physically ends right there, and the hills and cliffs are in fact only placed there to hide that fact and to stop you from reaching nothing

Also, although the asuran Metrica Province looks as if it was just west of Caledon Forest, it is not really. As far as I could tell so far (and I have seen quite a few maps edges) none of the GW2 areas actually are located physically adjacent to each other like they appear to be on your world map.

Stowing of Ranger Pets suggestion...

A game I previously played had a here command, which would make your pet come right to your feet. That command was complimented by being able to set a pet to stay, effectively transforming a ranged pet into a stationary “turret” which would not run around and aggro mobs.

Both would be a very welcomed addition to GW2 pets, along with the already mentioned stow away and do not come back out until I say so option.

To help with the constant AOE damage the pets tend to attract, a stay near me option would be nice, which would make your pet follow you with an absolute minimum leash length. That way a ranged pet could shoot your target while being in range, and still stay out of the AOE damage areas (as long as you stay out of them yourself).

Of course I don’t mind if they add anything, be it staff, sword or whatever.

But saying that “staff seems neglected” is pretty odd, considering that during the Halloween event only two unique full weapons with halloween skins dropped – Arachnophobia (a bow) and The crossing which was a staff…..

Be a skeptic cynic all you’d like, but it was answered. Those day-events will repeat when Tixx lands in LA, just as the Halloween events were repeatable all the way until the last day. And, with them being repeatable, people were still able to get the book(s) with them. There’s no indication that “you’ll be able to repeat them ‘for fun’, but not be rewarded”, because it sounds ludicrous just saying it.

Certainly it is perfectly possible that there will be no other rewards involved than those, that will probably be given for participating in the events that get enabled in a specific city once Tixx visits it. As we know, those events can also be done at a later date.

This does not rule out the possibility of a reward being given for being in the city at the very specific date that Tixx visits. An example of such a possibility: Tixx might be acting as a vendor NPC where you can buy items that are only available during his stay in the city. This is perfectly in line with the dev’s statement, that you will be able to participate in the game events even when you miss the specific day when they initially happen.

I did not say that this will happen – I just stated that the OPs question was not answered. There is indeed a possibility that he will miss out something if he is not in the city at the specific day, even if he will be able to participate in that cities event later on. Your first post was incorrect and your second post was rude in addition to being incorrect. Also, there was no cynicism involved in my own post.

The question was not really answered there. The dev post in that thread states that if you miss a day in a city, you will be able to replay that cities event on a later day.

It may very well be the case that the playable city events are unrelated to any “participation reward”. For example a city event might be a game in which you have to build snowmen in an instanced zone, while the other team has to prevent you from it. The dev post states, that if you miss the specific day, you will still be able to play that event on a later date, when all of the events will be enabled to play for everybody from lions arch.

Whether there will be any item rewards for having been present in a city for the actual visit was not revaled. You only think you have the answer, because without having the required information you assume that if any item reward will be handed out, it will be in form of a reward for that cities “event” and thus conclude that if you can replay that “event” on a later day, you can also acquire the reward on a later day.
That however is pure speculation.
