My impression after killing VG in pugs!

VG can be really easy or really hard, in my exp the main “problem” for groups are:

- Green group missing greens. This hurt.
– Tank not moving (rarely the case, and easy to fix)
– People getting ported left and right (a real killer)

If these 3 are fixed, VG is easy. Dmg is im exp. rarely a problem.

Changes to distort.

Healing druid vs healing ele

To get back to the topic, do heal temp heal more then heal drud, yes.

Is the extra healing needed? no, not really. But then again, neither am heal drud. Just go 2*dmg drud.

So why even use heal drud or heal temp, well sometimes your group is really tired (long night), or its a less exp. group. Or less skilled group. And here you can benefit from the extra heal or proc from either full heal drud or temp.

The fights I personally use heal temp for when I lead (Training groups mainly) are fights where the dmg needed is very low, and the main focus is on keeping people alive despite alot of mistakes.

Sloth: people dont dodge shake and chrono/DH/War dont negate it either. Worry not, heal temp is here to make the shake go away. People pull your slubling, so you did not clear green poison floor, np heal temp outheal the dmg and your group just stand on the poison.

Trio: Narella spawn and the group spread out (despite you telling them to stack), np. Heal temp outheal any dmg.

Mathias: Noone dodge haduken, np. heal temp is here.

Cairn: People get ported left and right, and never go into green circles, np. Outhealed, since Heal temp..

Daimos: Need someone to kite hands, well again heal temp do the job. (cant carry the same way here though lol)

Its not really about “do you need the extra healing from heal temp” and more, how hard can you carry. And heal temp can carry HARD (on low dps bosses).

All that said, for any decent group, take the drud, since more dmg

So your saying instead of a chrono tank, ele dps, and druid heals the raids can be completed with a thief/eng tank, chrono dps, and reaper heals? Heck not all the classes even have access to the taunt mechanic and some of them posses rather selfish healing.

Some builds aren’t viable and that’s because at the heart of viability in this game is the trait system. Core has the choice of 3 in any combination so they can set up for anything while the elites can only set up for 2 of the three 3 and that static trait sets the role for the elite. So by its very nature of forcing a traitline of course some builds will become nonviable for certain roles.

The classes I personal have seen at VG (only counting groups where they killed VG).

TANK: Chrono, DH, Temp, Necro, War, Druid, Thief. Not seen Engi or herald as tank., thats not the same as it not being possible though.

Healer: Druid, Temp, Guard, Necro, Herald, Chrono. Not seen War, engi or thief, again same as above.

DPS (pure dps, not “support” role part): War, ranger, Engi, Thief, DH, Temp, Herald, Necro and mesmer.

Did soome of them do the job better then others? yes. Did they get carried? NO.

Skill>build, but you do need abit of skill. And standing afk AA’ing will not get you a kill sry

If a person were to go full magi heal druid, does the difference betweeen power and condi become pretty much meaningless? Since at that point you’re only fighting to build up astral force anyway, and maybe help with CC a little.

Generally yes, but 99% of full heal druids use the magi stat sett (so power), since as a full healer druid you are going to be on staff more or less all the time (unless you are in avatar) and staff do power dmg. That said, the dmg you do as a full heal druid is so little that it dont really matter. Your focus is on 2 things, healing and buffing, and you buff by healing (using avatar).

And yes, you also cc, thats also an importent part of your job, lightning wyvern, and nr.3 in avatar. both good cc’s

The benefit of the power druid over the condi druid is the off-hand axe. …

Did you get these the wrong way around or am I missing something? On mine for power build I run LB/GS, and condi is A/T…..

The OP was asking about raids/fractals, there a power druid dont run GS since the dmg is less then sword/axe and even also bring less group support. Some take LB in swap, but thats for special cases, normally taking staff in swap will be the optimal.

Sadly even after the last GS buff, its still not worth taking. Sword (for dmg) and off-hand axe for the skill 4 pull on the other hand, can be usefull.

And yes, condi druid run SB+Axe/torch. Or if you need the pull, Axe/torch + Axe/Axe.

Only talking raids here (I dont know about PvP), as a commander my only problem with seing a necro join my party is.. how to say this nicely…. there is a high risk that its a “not skilled” player :/

I really hate saying this (And I also play necro myself both in and outside of raids), but there are alot of bad necro players. I “blame” it on minions and the necros tankyness. Many less skilled players pick up ranger or necro and use the minions/pet to tank while afk auto attacking.

That said, if its a good player, and I know there are planty of them, then necro will do good dmg, also in raids, and can easy take a dps spot.

I need Too be 100% sure of this next step: which weapons are used in a necro condition damage ready for raid?

Please help me here with explanations of which weapon and why…

Apreaciate ????

Ok, it depends abit. There are generally 2 condi builds for necro (reaper) atm, the difference between the 2 are the weapons they use, the traits, the utilitys and the “goal”.

The DAMAGE build: This is a new build that popped up after last patch, it use sceper/dagger + GS (for build see here: http://qtfy.eu/build/necromancer , small differences can be made to utilitys, and for instance elite golem can be helpful for CC if the group need it)

The SUPPORT (with abit of dmg): is the “old” blood something build (for build see here http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQRBLRtG2JNiQ1NYnNg5mA7NYpYwiCADgEw0KYGEDi3hFxkIA-TxhHQBA4kAQO9DZUJIBV+RP1fq1TAoc7PQKgFVWB-e)

Why use 1 over the other?

Benefit of the DPS build, more dps.. doohh alot more dmg, and can be used on all bosses if you know how to use it.

Benefit of the support build, this can transfer conditions away from your team, and therefore save people that othervise will die or have problems due to these conditions. Mainly usefull at sloth and mathias. Besides that it can “pull” downed people over to the necro with “soul spiral” so if someone go down in a poison pool or another bad place, you can save them.

As you can see on the builds, its mainly 1 weapon thats the difference (you can just use 1 scepter in the blood build), so it is possible to have/use both, depending on your groups needs or the boss. The main thing is to learn the build, learn the skills. ALL the skills and learn the rotation (mainly of the dps build).

arenanet pls help with this....

not sure if you are NA or EU (dont know the NA scene), but in EU we have several good teaching guild/groups. That do weekly runs, on different bosses. I’d recommend joining one of them. I know they often kill, also kill several bosses in a row. So, its a good way to learn and gather LI at the same time.

Besides that, GUILD RAID, join a guild the raid, and get into a more stable group. That is by far the best way.

The benefit of the power druid over the condi druid is the off-hand axe. Skill 4 is a really good pull, that with benefit can be used at bosses like Escort, sloth, trio or xera. And at these bosses a power build will do really well. At other bosses like VG or KC it will do fine and about as well as the condi build. At the rest, I’d give the edge to condi any day.

That said, as druid your main job is healing/buffing. So I’d take staff over LB any day for that reason.

Since last patch, condi druid have been abit better off, and it do mean that even “crippling” a condi build with axe off-hand, its still better dmg then the power build.

TLDR: if you already have a berserker druid, and know how to play it, it will do fine. Is it as good as a condi druid? prob not.

That may be, but I’m trying to figure out how. It’s the mathematician in me.

Not sure what class you play, but I will give an ex.:

say you play tempest (staff), then you might start the fight with Air overload, this will hit 16 times, over a 4 sec duration, while it is casting you will drop a lavafont, that will stay on the ground for 6 sec and do dmg every sec. and then you will start your meteor shower, again doing dmg over time. Add them up and you will see you have several attacks running at the same time.

You might be looking at auto attacks (aa) and yes, aa’s will often be some of your lowest dmg, doing 3-5k pr. sec.

Escort is really easy, but you need a chrono with the raid mastery unlocked.

For Trio and Mursaat you’ll need an opener and I’m not sure how easy they’re to find for these two bosses.

Cairn may be a good alternative for training. It’s not too difficult and you neither need an opener nor the raid mastery.

If some of you have more time to play (especially your chronos), you should join some training runs or Escort without requirements (preferably not as chrono) to get some additional practice and with some luck the mastery unlock.

There’s a way to avoid the cave entirely assuming it didn’t get patched out.

you can still lightninghammer jump. But might be easyer for 1 chrono to have the raid mastery already.

Assuming we are talking raid, and that your group have the skills to produse/use the buffs:

- Frost spirit, best in slot by far. In both condi and power sub group.
– Sun spirit second best in slot for condi sub groups (any group with 2 condi dealers = condi sub group, also if you as a condi druid in 1 of the 2).
– GoE second best in slot for pure power sub groups.
– Sun spirit 3’th best in slot for power groups.
– GoE 3’th best in slot for condi sub groups.

Notice that this mean, that depending on you being in a power or condi sub group. And depending of you being at a boss where you need to bring an another utility, You will need to drop either sun spirit OR GoE. Other skills that you might need to bring can include: GotT at VG, stone spirit at mathias, xera or something.Protect me at sloth. Or whatever your group run

VG is not the easyest by far. I’d recommend the following bosses:

Escort (first b"boss" in wing 3). More like an event then a boss. Have your mesmer bring portal, and its super easy. Just do it slow

Wing4B1, he is also super easy. Just focus on staying alive. Bring 1 or even 2 full tempists. And it will be super easy. Ignore the timer. Enrage at him dont matter.

Thats by far the 2 easyest bosses. Besides that, bring a heal temp. it is the best carry, something like: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vFAQFAWn0XC9XiVYCOYCcYilNAjYFkCOju31/6hd4BEAugA-TxxGQBtRHgiU/ZI7PULlfk7BAAgLAgHVCSKA/2bB-e

play it super easy. Stay in water ALL the time, use 3+5 and AA and overload… thats about it. Best part. It have toons of passive healing, so even if you are ressing someone or something, you still heal others passivly. And the heal is so strong.

When I teach mathias, I always come heal temp, it make thing so easy as all have full hp all the time

this one is used by many, and give you several options. You can stuff like: your dps (power+condi), uptime of buffs, like might, fury etc, and other buffs, like banners, GotL etc.

As mentioned, use the golem to test stuff. But also go out and see if you can find a champ or something, as fighting a real mob will give you more “realistic” numbers.

If you play in a group, then being able to see your buff uptime is really good, as it often will show you if you are position yourself correctly to get the buffs. ex. a “noob” mistake is often to stand away from the group, and therefore not get the benefit of the others buff spam.

Viability of an "all builds welcome" raid?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Sigfodr.9576

Sigfodr.9576

with a few small ajustments, I’d say for some bosses: yes

What bosses: Siege (escort), Cairn, Trio.
What is needed: 1 or 2 healers. Can be druid, tempest (staff or d/w), herald, or even a guard or war healer. But you really need someone who can help everyone stay alive.
Some kind of buffer will help, might/fury etc. They make a huge difference.

I think your main problem is something completely different, to find 10 people that have actual exp in high end gw2 content and not already have ok builds. And I mean real exp. not people that are use to being carried through T4 fractals by pugs that dont know notice that they are dead/useless 99% of the time.

In my exp. people that actually can do T4’s, and be usefull there. All have ok builds, they might not be 100% optimal/meta, but they are not truly bad. But I do also see people join T4’s and just not be usefull (pure longbow power druids, that dont cc, spawn spirits, give GotL or spotter etc

What I kinda want to say is, if you by open to all, mean: can 10 people who all ignore mechanicks, who go afk in the middle of the fight, or who is alt-tabbing every 30 sec to check facebook complete the raids, then prob NO

But if you mean: can 10 people who pay attention and want to work for it, but who dont have meta builds do raids, then YES (atleat some of the bosses)

It is based on your base stats (meaning armor + weapons), but it do not include food, might, banner buff, GotL, pinpoint distribution, rune of thorns buff, lingering curse, targeting the weak or any other extra condition dmg increase that I might have forgotten to mention. This mean the the 6% increase is not 6% at all, and for org. group plays, bursting will therefore be worse then earth or geo. If you do solo play only and want to optimise for that, then I really dont know if earth or bursting will be the best, but I guess earth will still pull ahead. Bursting is just that bad.

I did not mention malice that it as far as I know not is worth it. Since you already with easy hit the 100% duration cap. So unless you dont have the gear/weapons, no reason to use malice.

Grace of the Land doesn’t affect the Condition Damage attribute. Applying it in the special forces training area doesn’t change what is displayed in the hero panel.

It increases the damage done by conditions similar to Hidden Barbs and Poison Master . It is also multiplicative with those.

With 1243 condition damage a single stack of bleed does …
1243*.06 + 22 =96.58(97)
+ hidden barbs(33%) = 128.4514(128)
+ GotLx5(10%) = 141.29654(141)

ohh the difference between the 2 are btw

Base: about 1412 condi dmg
with normal buffs/food: about 3177 condi dmg

I might have forgotten a buff or 2, its late

So checking in the special forces area. The difference between no buff and all the buff is 320 after adding in the missing 150 from Pinpoint Distribution and without consumables. I am checking with exotic weapon and armor but even with the increase from that it would require consumables to add over 1000 to reach the numbers you quoted.

About GotL: Why importent here, it is a 10% dmg increase (also work for conditions), so if you do 1000 bleeding dmg pr. sec without GotL, you will do 1100 with GotL.
The reason this is worth mentioning is that the 6% increase from bursting do NOT affect the extra 100 dmg from GotL.
1 extra stack of bleeding from earth on the other hand will do more dmg with GotL.
GotL is therefore importent to take into the picture when talking about sigils

About the difference between Armor/weapon (base), and with full buffs, here is a breakdown (I am going to use condi necro as an ex. as OP was talking about necro)

Base
Armor: 376 condition dmg.
runes (thorn): 175 condition dmg.
Tinkets (amulet+rings sinister, rest viper): 645 condition dmg.
weapons: 216 condition dmg.
Total: 1412 condition dmg.

With all buffs:
Base: 1412 condition dmg.
lingering curse: 150 condition dmg.
Taget the weak(1728*13%): 225 condition dmg.
Might (25 stacks รก 30 condition dmg.): 750 condition dmg.
food: 170 condition dmg.
banner of strength: 170 condition dmg.
pinpoint distribution: 150 condition dmg.
3? stacks of thorhs buff: 150 condition dmg.
Total: 3177 condition dmg.

The problem is that the extra stacks of bleeding from Earth and Geo both do more actual damage than the Bursting Sigil does, because it was very poorly implemented. It only adds 6% to your BASE condition damage (i.e. it ignores all of your condition damage from gear).

That is false. It does not ignore condition damage from gear unless weapons and armor doesn’t count as gear. It can not work the way you describe because it would be 6% of 0 all the time.

It is based on your base stats (meaning armor + weapons), but it do not include food, might, banner buff, GotL, pinpoint distribution, rune of thorns buff, lingering curse, targeting the weak or any other extra condition dmg increase that I might have forgotten to mention. links work for me, give the page time to load

Gold, if you care to farm, then silver waste meta/chest farm might be a good place. I am not sure, fractals are also good (but you will need abit of ascended items for higher lvl fracs) besides that, just play the game, gather mats, do events and stuff. Gold will come and these armour/weapons are cheap

As already mentioned, make sure your gear is, atleast fairly ok. I made a build with cheap armor/weapons/runes. Notice that its a solo player build. As a warrior, you will be expected to bring certain things if you do group content, like dungeons. Thats build nr. 2

Solo: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJAQFARjMdQfHW3BWeAnIGKCqbM6gk3GgHIA0uo1zCA-TRCBABA8AAkQJIEXAAH3HwIlfRugAOq/47CBpoDAA-e

notice its the same gear. Just different skills and traits.
I kept the runes cheap. But as you get better and want better stuff, going 6 superior runes and not the major will also give you a good dmg boost

Even with this, you will get almust 2400 power though. And even more importent, close to 60% crit chance, and 204% crit dmg.

In total this will prob make you do about 10 times the dmg you do now

Sigfodr.9576

Question, since I’ve never set foot into a GW2 raid: Are healing requirements (for an average group) so low that offensive buffs are the only reason to exist for a (druid) healer? Because otherwise, your statement doesn’t make sense.

For a really good group, yes. Really good groups dont run with “real” healers, but simply have a full dmg druid for GotL.

For “normal” good groups, partly, the healing from a druid is more then enough. And since you need to bring a druid anyway (spotter/spirits) it just make sense for him to be the healer. We have started to see a few heal chronos also, where the chrono then heal, tank and do his normal buffing all at the same time. This mean that the druid can go more dmg (or full dmg) and just use avatar for GotL.

For bad groups, or groups learning new fights. Heal temp or ventari is a good second healer, but even here you still need the druid buffs (spotter/spirits) and can therefore just as easy also have the druid heal. Then you will often just end up with running 2 FULL healers over the normal 1 full heal + 1 off-healer.

All this said, if you have a good group, you can naturally bring any healer and have a good run. The 10% buff from GotL will just make you kill faster.

GS 5 pull is really good. And since you rarely have both a mesmer and a guard in your frac party. A guard will be assumed to be doing the pulls. Pulling mobs together so the temp can blind them and your group can nuke them down is vital for frac running. So using gs is not a problem. All that said, having all the weapons. Hammer, gs, sword, scepter, torch, focus and even shield and knowing when and how to use them is what differs a good and a ok guard.

Its not 100% “optimal” gameplay, but it is “generally” good.

Do I really need all-Berserkers?

For open world, and when playing with guildys use whatever you want. Full berserker or full soldier or any mix of whatever. Main thing here is that you ENJOY it, If you are having fun then THAT is what is importent.

For dungeons/fractals with pugs, use something meta or close to meta. They dont know you and no reason to carry you. So be nice to them and bring your best

Raids, even with guildys I’d recommend bringing good stats to raids, since you will need the extra dmg.

All this said, the thing that really will keep you alive are understanding the game and your class. Using reflect, protection, blind etc will let you stay alive alot better and longer then any gear change. But that will (hopefully) come with time spand in game

Some of them are guild names, but that aside. I think making a small list of “shorts” used by the raid community (I also see many of them in open world, but it seems not all know them) is a good ideer. I will start, but I am sure others can add.

Bosses:
VG = Vale Guardian, first boss of wing 1
Gors = Gorseval, second boss of wing 1
Sab = Sabetha the Saboteur, 3’th boss of wing 1
Sloth = Slothasor, first boss wing 2
trio = Prison Camp (3 minor bosses), second boss of wing 2
Matt = Matthias Gabrel, 3’th boss of wing 2
Escort or Siege = Siege the Stronghold, first boss wing 3
KC = Keep Construct, second boss of wing 3
TC = Twisted Castle (not a boss, but the mini event between boss 2 and 3 in wing 3)
Xera = Xera (short, so people just use the whole name ^^), 3’th boss wing 3

W1 = raid 1, wing 1
W2 = raid 1, wing 2
W3 = raid 1, wing 3
W4 = raid 2, people just call it wing 4 even if it is a new raid and not just a added wing.

Prot = protection, the boon that make people take 33% less dmg
Break = Used to tell people to break a breakbar, using soft and hard cc
CC = Control effects, stuns, push, pulls, daze etc are hard cc, and blind, chill, cripple ect are soft cc. CC are really importent in many raid fights so make sure you know what cc skills you have and how to use them. CC is also sometimes used to call for people to use the cc skills. So as a “CC NOW” call.
Stack = stand close to the commander (or marked player), since boon sharing, heal sharing ect are really importent in raids. Having people standing away from the group is often bad. In some fight there is a reason for 1 or 2 players to not stack. But as a general rule, if noone give you a specific “job” to do. Then stack. The number of times I have attemted to heal someone new at a raid boss, only to have that person run away from me all the time is

More class specific there are a toon of acronyms and listing them all will take a long time, safe to say, learning the importent ones for your profession is enough. Here are a few:

BiP = Blood is Power, a necro skill
GotL = Grace of the Land, Druid trait/skill
EA = Empower Allies, Warrior trait
FGS = Fiery Greatsword, elementalist skill

hope it helps

Juvenile Black Moa (and other locked pets)

I haven’t missed having those pets. I would like to get the lightning wyvern, but since it’s locked behind a map event in DS (which no one is running anymore… ;-;) I don’t think I have a prayer of getting it.

DS is run daily at any time of the day. Use lfg at the timers to find a map

Who cares, the raid has plenty of tools for breakbars. With quick draw you can solo a raid bar with 2x lunar impact and other people’s debuffs without gimping your DPS by using a worthless pet.

And using you quick draw on lunar just cost you 5stack*5people of GotL, so alot more dmg then then any pet change will give Dont forget that you always loose dmg somewhere, nomatter how you decide to break a breakbar. And black moa or lightning wyvern are amoung the cheapest ways (in dps loss). that said, if you dont like then, np. do what you like

Don’t worry, the moa pets are useless pets. Garbage damage, their CC is completely unreliable too and their heal screech is not something you can control and has a small radius.

PvE pets: cats & drakes.

Not quite true, For raids/fractals either black moa or lightning wyvern is the best when it comes to breakbars, it depends abit on if its a big or small hitbox.

Are the complaints on forums valid?

For PvE, it depends abit on the kind of PvE you are talking about

Open PvE (open world events like dragon stand, world bosses etc): Condi war, condi necro, condi druid/ranger and engi are all better or equal to their power variants.

Low lvl fracs and dungeons: power wins

High lvl Fracs and raids: Condi war, condi necro, condi druid/ranger and engi are all better or equal to their power variants.

Condi ranger (highest condi dmg in the game atm) have started to see more and more play in raids, it started as mainly on VG, but now people play it on close to all bosses and we see it in more and more record running also. Just take the 5 man SAB kill by LN that used 1 chrono (power) + 1 condi war + 1 condi druid + 2 condi rangers.

How to unlock Glenna's vendor?

Hi

You can only buy the weapons from glenna that is from the boss/bosses that you have killed. Soo if you have killed sloth, then its the sloth weapons you can get. Enter the raid (the wing where you have kills from) and talk to glenna. If this dont work… then bug?

About sharts, I’d recommend doing escort, this is a really easy boss. Our guild do it every sunday after guild missions as a “open for all, any build, all levels, all welcome no matter what” event. Use LFG to find an escort group, and just take one that welcome all. It takes 30 min or so if you do it slow and safe. And will give you 1 LI + some sharts.

If you want to buy raids to get the 600 sharts… I have no ideer what it cost, I hear a kill cost between 30-100 gold (EU) but not sure since I’d never cared about buying raids.

Question regarding condition damage builds

in Players Helping Players

Hard to help when you dont state content you want to use it in, but for..

Low lvl Fractals + dungeond: power all the way

High lvl fracs: condi druid, condi war, condi engi, condi necro are all good

Open world: Who cares, since everything works, but both condi druid, condi war and condi necro are good

Raids: condi druid, condi ranger, condi engi, condi war and condi mesmer are all meta (from fight to fight)

PvP/WvW: dont know, sry.

Safe bets are condi druid (condi ranger is same build, with abit different traits) and condi war. Both are high dmg and just as good as any of the power variations. Though depending on the fight it will change if the power or the condi varient will pull ahead.
