I’d like to mention that tonight, we are planning on hosting a Jump Puzzle event from 8pm EST until about 11pm EST, and anyone is welcome to join us! These events are always open to suggestions, so if you need a jump puzzle for a collection or achievement, feel free to speak up and we’ll try to get it done for you!
We have also just achieved Level 19 in our Guild Hall! I have created a video guide to our Gilded Hollow to showcase some of the services that can be found there, for anyone who is not that familiar with guild halls. Some of the services are locked until the expansion has been purchased, but there are a few handy vendors and things that can be used by new accounts as well!

There are dozens of posts here from players of all skill levels asking for advice or help. No matter how long you’ve played, whether two days or two years, there will always be something you need a hand with!

The Nuinqua is a community guild based on helping our members in achieving their goals and getting their questions answered. We were established at the launch of Guild Wars 2 and are headed by myself and my husband, Darkahn (who has played years of Guild Wars 1, in addition).

We don’t focus on any one part of the game — there are too many cool things out there for us to put our hands into! Instead, we spend time exploring maps, leading and participating in endgame metas, scaling jump puzzles, running dungeons and Fractals (all skill levels welcome!), farming hero points and masteries, completing guild missions, and so much more. That’s just in PvE!

In PvP, we have a set of skilled players who schedule structured arenas to help train anyone who is new to Structured PvP maps and builds. These arenas are often in a 1v1 setting with a spectator to offer advice and constructive criticism. We are multi-server, so we focus less on WvW, but anyone on Tarnished Coast is welcome to join together for roaming.

We have weekly events (jump puzzles, map metas, and dungeon nights); we are in the process of building up a casual raid group (inquire for details with our leadership if you are interested); and our Guild Hall is nearly level 16! Message any of us in-game if you’re interested in more information!

The Nuinqua [Nuin] is a small, casual guild housed on Tarnished Coast, but we accept applicants from all NA servers. We are headed by Darkahn and Silvaria, a husband and wife team who have been around Guild Wars 2 (and Guild Wars 1) for years.

We’re proud to announce that we have captured the Gilded Hollow guild hall successfully! Our guild hall is now Level 15 and climbing quickly! Our typical weekly events include Jump Puzzles on Wednesdays, Map clearing on Fridays, Dungeon Running on Sundays, with guild missions coordinated on the same days (guild missions usually take place before we begin the weekly event). At this time, most guild events begin between 7-8pm EST and last until about midnight.

With the real Wintersday taking place for so many of us IRL, this week we’ve been a bit quiet. Yesterday, we still picked up a few guildies and ran the Story Mode dungeons together to get some easy and fast EXP for the lowbies.
Wednesday, we’ll be holding our next Humpday Jumpday event, with Jumping Puzzles from 8pm EST until we have no more puzzlers around to jump! Every jumping puzzle is available for us to do and we have copious amounts of mesmers available for portaling, so let us know which puzzles you might need!

We’re trying to form a raid group that raids every Saturday evening, with a possible continuation on Sundays, for anyone who is interested in joining! We have 6 places filled and are mainly looking for some high-end Condi DPS to fill the last 4 or so spots. Send us an ingame message for more details!

We have had a great week!! Tonight is the night for Mordrem slaughtering! Guild Race to begin at 8pm EST, followed by Map Meta events, featuring lots of Weed Whacking! Keep an eye out for the [Nuin] tag! I’ll have my Commander tag up, too, and we’ll be running around with whoever wants to come kill some overgrown vine monsters.

This Friday, we take on a slew of bosses and events! Well, as many as we can fit into a few hours, anyway… Starting at 8pm EST and going until we run out of Weed Killers, we will be venturing out into the Silverwastes, Verdant Brink, and Auric Basin to kill as many of the mordrem as we can!!

Before starting all of that, however, we are offering a chance to be rewarded some Guild Commendations and other free loot in the form of a Guild Race! Our TeamSpeak server is available for guests to join (just ask for the login information) and, if you find you might want to stick around for more, we’ll be happy to have you! We still have a Guild Bounty and a Guild Challenge mission this week, so commendations abound!

But really, Friday night Mordrem slaughtering and obstacle coursing… What better way to start the weekend?

Good evening Esmerauld! If you had not found a guild as of yet, I would like to offer my own as a potential option.
We are a small group of casual players (approx. 10 active accounts with a total of 30 accounts in the guild), generally most active during the weekends but we also play during the evenings in our time zones (EST -5 for some, PT -8 for others). We are PvX, though we are disinterested in WvW due to the variety of servers represented by our members. We were created on TC, though.
I wanted to reach out to you on the off chance that, despite the time zone difference, we may offer some of what you seek. I do not require RP in my guild but it is something that I find fun and I certainly encourage and support creativity in all aspects.
Among the other things we do together are dungeon runs, map/exploration runs, trait unlocks, world boss farming, and sPvP.
I would like to incorporate in the near future things like guild events, jumping puzzle/achievement clearing, 80 content farming, and other player support events.
We have a privately hosted Mumble server for voice chat (completely optional but some hilarity does take place there), there is no represent requirement (but we would love to have you all the time!), and the only other consideration you may need to take is that we consider ourselves a mature guild (18+, for themes in conversation and potential RP).

I uninstalled my GW2 Mac Beta Client to free up space and because it was being phased out of support with 10.6.8.

If I had the OS to run it, you bet I’d reinstall it, especially if it’s native.

So far, I’ve been making do with Bootcamp, but most of my projects are done on Mac anymore. I don’t particularly care to log to Windows (for reasons I won’t list because I’m windy and they’re relatively minor inconveniences that I put up with when I do really want to play the game). If progress on projects for the evening weighs out my desire to play, I don’t log over to Bootcamp, and I don’t play Guild Wars.

As a queen of multi-tasking, I would play far more if I could play on Mac. And that’s all it comes down to.

My point of view stands that if they determine that a Mac native client is within the scope of their programming department, meaning they actually have the resources to devote to such a project instead of other game features (because, realistically, unless they have a Mac-only department, it is going to be worked on in lieu of other things), so be it. We will rejoice as Mac-users.

If they determine that a Mac native client is not within their scope, they will be out the users who either cannot afford a copy of Windows 7, or choose not to run Bootcamp for the sole purpose of an online game. And raging about it won’t change that.

I’m hoping to find a little enlightenment pertaining to endgame gearing.

First off, here is my basic build. I pulled it off of Noxxic because I wanted to go support, and this was the one I found that I enjoyed most. I’d be willing to listen to tweaking ideas, but I’m more or less happy with it.

The runes of Altruism are new. I took a look at some generalized support mesmer advice and came to the conclusion that they would be best. I’m open to advice on these as well. I’m currently using all “Cleric” gear (Power/Tough/Heal), but I’ve been baffled by the sets of stats on some of the karma exotics from Orr.

I’ve been looking at Rubicon (Lyssa), because that has a large amount of Healing Power (203 total), but it also has a ton of Precision (224) and not much Toughness or any Power at all. Aurora (Melandru) is similar in that it has Healing Power and Vitality, but no Toughness or Power. The only set that has any Power or Toughness is Balthazar’s, but it has no Heal Power. >:/
I feel like 252k karma is a lot to spend on a set of gear, only to find out that it breaks the build I’ve been enjoying for the past month.

I have this problem on my thief as well, but I won’t get into that here.

So I’m pretty much wanting to find out if karma exotics are viable, or if I should look forward to crafting a bunch of “Cleric’s” exotics to keep my build happy and working. If I could get some feedback, I would very much appreciate it.

@Lexy, I can also vouch for this… The recipe was not on my alt (it happened to be my artifacer that I was looking at) after I learned it on my thief. When I bought it a second time and sent it to my artifacer, once she learned it, it appeared on her crafting tab in red, as described.

So, yes, you can buy the recipe on any character, but learning it on the character that buys it will not unlock it on all other characters across that account.

Bah. But my other characters have no access to it then.

Okay, so I wonder if someone can help me here.

I’m on my level 80 thief getting some world-discovery done, and I found the Karma vendors in Fireheart Rise for the Godskull weapons. I proceeded to buy them for my other characters, as my thief is Leatherworking/Cooking, and I have Artiface and Weaponsmithing on alts.

Upon trying to move the recipes to another bag while continuing my exploring, I accidentally double-clicked one… and a dialogue appeared that I had learned it. On my thief! Who doesn’t have that skill, nor do either of my alts have skill high enough to learn any of them! Does anyone know what might have happened to that recipe? It disappeared from my inventory… I’ll buy another for now, I’m just curious if anyone else has run into this problem.

Part of me wants to buy an extra character slot so I can just randomly make different colored Sylvari and play with their colors and looks. They are so much fun to play with!!

Meet Yvinne, my darkling, in the first. Dark red glow/eyes. Level 22 Mesmer.

My baby, Silvaria, is the second. Bright gold eyes, bright blue glow. Level 80 Thief.

So I have an issue in-game where an important item to the personal story I’m working on disappeared (the Illusory Essence for the Orbs in Temple of the Forgotten Gods — Level 72 Sylvari story). I can’t progress, but the ticket said to stay close to the area that I was experiencing the issue.

It has been almost 30 minutes. Should I wait for a response from someone before moving on? I probably won’t play the character I’m on presently out of frustration… I was pretty far into that area, and I need a break before doing it all over again. Will that affect the processing of the ticket? If I do stick it out, will I still need to re-do everything?

Pandemoniac was correct, I simply didn’t see it under cooking ingredients. I guess, since there are no discoverable recipes with Celery, it just doesn’t show up in the discovery panel?

Regardless, I’ve gotten some good advice on how to manage my cooking ingredients. Thank you so much for that!

So, I’ve been trying to work on my cooking skill these past few hours. I am always gathering and every time I come across a karma vendor with “[Ingredients] in Bulk”, I buy them, no matter the level. I have a lot of ingredients.

I do use a database for help, because I honestly don’t have the space to keep a whole bunch of crafted bases and things available, and today I was scrounging through my ingredients and comparing them to recipes I could discover, when Aha!! I found one that required a level 25 soup that I hadn’t discovered yet!

[Bowl of Staple Soup Vegetables] is the item in question, and I thought to myself, Okay, I don’t see this on my production list… But I must have the ingredients, I’ve bought them in bulk and gathered SO many of them on my main and alts…

Sure enough, I had Celery, Onion, Potato, and Carrots all in my collectibles… But Celery wasn’t showing up in the Discovery panel. I’m stumped! I can put it in my inventory, and it still doesn’t show up! Is there something I’m missing?? Does the Discovery panel “max out” at a certain amount of ingredients??

As far as the topic’s original theme, about sylvari who are Dreamers and very violent…
“You cannot coexist with someone that wants you dead.”

The Nightmare Court attacks the Dreamers. Caithe has probably seen way more brutality than she ever thought she would, or than the Pale Tree ever wanted her to. The same goes for the rest of the Sylvari. They had to respond to a threat that would wipe them out, change their way of thinking, change their whole way of life and corrupt them into creatures that harm instead of nurture… In the face of that, maybe Caithe’s perceived violence is justified.

Ah, but Renvari was kept dangerously close to the Pale Tree, wasn’t he? If only one of the Nightmare Court could damage the Tree, why didn’t he, instead of escaping as he did? Ysvelta could have been brought back to the Tree and held in the prison there. Even if it was in vain, they could’ve tried… Ysvelta hadn’t been in the Court for that long.

Alternatively, it could be that the brutality of the Nightmare Court destroys the “innocence” of the Sylvari, and that’s why it can’t be “cured”… There’s nothing to cure, because whatever there was is completely gone. Because of their torture, they choose to inflict the pain upon others, so that the “truths” revealed by their suffering will be revealed to others? Just a theory, in which the Dreamers are correct in their assumptions that those who convert to the Nightmare Court are truly “lost”.
My own character’s story (outside of the game’s preset story, of course) deals with a resistance to the Court, so I’m very interested in theorizing what the Nightmare actually is.

Personally, I agree with pmiles. Once the beta-testing is complete, please try to include a notice that upgrading the OS may not improve or allow gameplay, and to upgrade with caution (i.e.: other applications may be affected). An informed customer is a happy customer!
The game still runs well enough on 10.6.8 for me, for the moment. I can deal with that. I will merely log to Bootcamp on the weekends when I don’t have to log into my Mac partition to work.

All in all, your work is greatly appreciated. I was so pleased to find out there would be a Mac client. Thank you for taking the time and effort to supply it to us!!

Okay, I go back to the interaction between Tiachren and Ysvelta. Did anyone else choose to help Tiachren rather than save the village? Lol…
Tiachren did try to bring Ysvelta back to the Dream, through words. And, she tried to bring him to the Nightmare with her own words. When they realized that neither was going to be swayed by the other, Ysvelta stated that she would “kill to have [Tiachren].” At this point, she sent her courtiers after Tiachren and the player, but there’s no telling if it was to kill the player and take Tiachren hostage, or to kill them both. There is also no option to take Ysvelta hostage, to see if the influence of the Pale Tree could remove the touch of the Nightmare. This bothers me, personally.

Both groups are zealots. I dislike this about the entire sylvari story, and I would’ve liked to have seen more with Malyck and his Tree that isn’t under the influence of this commandment-like tablet set forth by a centaur and a human. The Nightmare Court will attack/kill/pillage/kidnap to make the Dreamers see the “truth”. The Dreamers believe that those taken by the Nightmare are lost and better off dead than spreading corruption and doing evil.

Note that I’ve only gotten to level 30 on my Sylvari… still exploring the story deeper, and I have a lot of my own questions…

I think you may want to supply more information, such as your system specs and current version of operating system, so others can try to help you. What other games does it run smoothly?

I took a chance and downloaded the beta (took about 14 hours[!] over my ISP connection) and can happily state that it works fine under 10.6.8 on a vintage 2007 iMac. This does not necessarily mean things will be hunky-dory on a MacBook, but the odds are good.

The only issue I have experienced is that the scroll button on the mouse has no effect (zooming the map, paging through pages in invetory, at al). As the scroll button’s functionality has alternative buttons in every case I’ve seen, that is a minor inconvenience at most.

(Incidentally, I am also running GW2 under Windows XP through Bootcamp on the same ancient iMac. No problems at all.)

pmiles, That is exactly what I was afraid of. When they said the processor needed to be an i5 and I only have a Core 2 Duo… But oh well.

Last night, I noticed a drop in fps when turning my character quickly in the Grove. Fps was also very low during the Shaman event in the Maw, with 20-30 players present. I imagine WvW would be difficult for me on this system. The graphics were set to low, but I experienced 10-20 fps during normal play. I really appreciate the work being done to port the client to Mac.

I am wondering if I will be able to play GW2 with my hardware even if I upgrade my OS? I’m resisting upgrading because I don’t care for 10.7… But to play this, I’ll upgrade. Otherwise, I’ll just continue playing on Bootcamp.

[Edit]: I was also wondering if anyone had issues with the scrolling gesture changing the camera tilt instead of zooming in/out or scrolling on bag/crafting windows? [/Edit]

Haha, thanks for the insight Xelion. Maybe I haven’t given it a chance, but I’ve always resisted new OS upgrades. I suppose I’m just a fogey like that. XD
