Captain Romke, the Norn player’s ancestor if they choose Lost an Heirloom.
Okay, how about have it downed skill 0? Anyone hits that instead of 4, well that speaks for itself.
Sometimes when you get mobbed , you know you aren’t going to rally, nobody is there to heal you, how about a self destruct button to skip it? Posting it here as it would be something that could be used in PVE, PVP or WVW.
Thinking of a time in PVP a ranger I’m sure was trying to keep me in some kind of limbo. Only me and him for miles, I was downed, he went into base leaving me, I almost rallied but then he came out and started shooting arrows, I used skills 1 2 3 on him but he kept going behind the crates. Coming out to shoot and stop me rallying, my downed health was almost full so I wasn’t going to bleed to death any time soon. It might be rare that another player is trying to keep you in limbo but would also save time when you know you aren’t going to rally with what your up against and want to just wp quickly.
So how about it? Downed skill 5, Self Destruct?
If he declines then he puts the other 9 back in que. Wasting there time even further in already long que times. Dishonor discourages him from doing so again.
Couldn’t it be changed so that if one person declines or fails to accept it just gets offered to the next person in the queue? I thought it might have already been like that, often 9 of us accept within the first few seconds and number 10 takes a lot longer. Could even have it that it would break up parties, maybe if a party member fails to accept or declines anyone on their party gets a message “One of your party declined. Their place has been offered to another player” 10 seconds to choose between stay or leave. If they leave their place gets offered to another player as well, they don’t get dishonour as it wasn’t their fault for it.
Does dishonor affect pip or MMR?
As far as I know not directly but I’m sure I’ve read that if you have dishonour your more likely to get put with players who have dishonour. So team members that are moe likely to rage quit than ones without dishonour. Though players don’t get dishonour for staying in base when it starts leaning towards the enemy winning even though that is no more helpful than disconnecting, probably why some of them do that instead of just disconnecting so dishonour shouldn’t have a huge impact on how the match goes.

Seeing as unlocking a Mist Champion unlocks a reward track to get the miniature how about having it that unlocking the miniature unlocks a track to get a finisher based on the Mist Champion? Could just Imagine Grymm Svaard standing over the body, pointing his canon right down at them and firing. For Nika maybe if she does the animation for the Daredevil’s 3 parts of Impact Strike, or maybe she just appears on the body and you see her doing Dagger Storm. For Tybalt, I don’t really know, definitely something to do with apples, maybe That barrel of exploding apples he had in Bloodtide Coast. Something like he appears, the barrel of apples falls on the corpse and explodes, finisher over.
Buff him into stronghold style lord with a break bar, dangerous attacks, more HP, and better guards.
If they did that it would be fair to make him worth 500 points to kill. Both teams would probably rush lord to begin with. Well killing a Stronghold Lord wins the game for you, if the Foefire lord was as strong it would be fair to make killing him an automatic win.
My least favourite map. Points are too close together and too far from spawn. Once a team wins mid it’s too much of a struggle to regain control.
That’s exactly why I don’t like Foefire and fail to see how it is so popular. Flat map, points too close together and too far from spawn point. Well, I unchecked Conquest but before that Foefire always either got the majority of the votes and ended up being where we would fight or it would get the od vote and the hand would gravitate towards it. Only thing I didn’t like about the Lord was when our own was under attack sometimes the entire team thought that meant you had to go on defence leaving the rest of the enemy team free to cap what they wanted.
Though for people who are against the lord being there my way of never needing to enter Legacy of Foefire might not be the answer. In Stronghold the lord isn’t just for 150 points, the whole match is won if you defeat the enemy lord.
3 guardians attacking the enemy gate without our hero spawned. Telling them what to do didnt help. Even the enemy left them alone… plowed through the map, killed out lord in one go. While the 3 guards kept hitting the gate….
Hmmmm They wouldn’t have been wearing orange sashes by any chance. These three guards seem pretty lazy and undisciplined to me.
Though in seriousness, you could maybe expect that occasionally one player might attack the gate thinking they can damage it(and hopefully quickly realising that they need a mercenary, be it a door breaker, archer of mist champion, or at least asking the team, “how do you damage the gate?”) but three going at it and not stopping is terrible, shameful is what it is.
Can’t remember what profession they are, different people as I’ve seen it more than once, anyway but I when two mist escences appear on the map, I take one, see teammates on the mini map running right past the other one and getting supplies. Pretty sure the enemy inner gate was even down as well at the time. Two archers worth more than not only us getting a mist hero but stopping the enemy from getting it?

I would suggest to match a premade team like that to the lowest tier player, I come up with the same matching way too often.
That wouldn’t work, 3 or 4 diamond players would invite an amber to their group that way and be playing against ambers. It’s would be win win for their team and unfair on the other team. The Diamonds easy battles and the Amber gets carried through. If one of 4 diamond players had a spare computer they could go as far to make a f2p account, invite it to the party and although it would be idle the entire match 4 Diamonds vs 5 Ambers, I’d expect the Diamonds to win.
Maybe it would be fairer to match everyone’s division or to average them. Say if Amber-Emerald-Saphire could be put against 3 Emeralds. If you look at the solo diamond player in the first match, if he checked everyone’s divisions at the end he’d have probably been a bit peeved at that moment. Though this isn’t a very fair season with MMR Hell.
BTW guys, I’m not sure if it is important because you aren’t saying anything bad about them but I think your supposed to censor the player names before uploading here.
It’s gotten to that point too where premades will all pick Legacy if it’s available, and that will be their plan from the get go. If the team does decent not good decent enough to get 350 all 5 can rush lord, and be given a gurantee win, nothing you can do at all when 5 people are focusing lord, even in their downed stata, insta gib him, and steal the victory. Ridiculous.
I wouldn’t really call it a stolen victory. I’ve lost that way, know the feeling, move on to next match. I’ve also won that way so can’t really say anything bad about that way of winning. Pros, good, decent, call them what you want. The fact is they made it to 350.
What about your own team? How were they doing? Losing? Well a victory was hardly stolen from them. Winning? If so why didn’t they rush the lord when they got to 350? The enemy has a lord you can kill as well. When I was doing Conquest if we got to 350 I’d type, “All to lord.” Often I or somebody on the team would say would say at the beginning, “All to lord at 350.” If they didn’t rush the lord, the other team makes it to 350, rushes our lord, wins then hey, my team may have been playing better up until that point but they had a chance to win and didn’t take it. Already killed the enemy lord? Well they’ve had their 150 point boost early on, the other team just waited and took theirs later.
I could give an example from Temple of Silent Storm, was quite a close match but leaning towards the enemy winning. I think both teams were above 400 at the time but the enemy closer to 500. I was playing as a Dragon Hunter. 8:40 for time left I was at the gate, made my way down the steps, as a DH I was dropping traps along the way. Enemy necro who was quite a strong player began following, well, just before tranquillity appeared I saw numbers behind me showing a player was taking damage from my traps. obviously he knew Tranquility appears at 8:30 time left, wanted to solidify their victory and stop us getting it. Anyway, I got to Tranquilioty and started communing, meanwhile he’s getting caught in another trap. He starts typing, “noob!” “noob!” Runs towards me, staff firing projectiles, I finish communing just before he gets in range. We fight, he wins, types “noob” again. I just typed back, “I got Tranquility.” I suppose kind of like saying, “I got what I came here for.”
Anyway, pretty soon after we got all 3 points my team won the match, maybe one of my players took Stillness as well which would have sped things up, or maybe an enemy took it and it was useless because we had all 3 points. I remember the enemy team put a lot of focus on getting the gate back while my team controlled near and far for the rest of the match. So in that example, it was leaning towards them winning, would you say their victory was stolen because I lay traps along that corridor and took Tranquility? I wouldn’t, I see it as things like Tranquility and the Lord are on the map, it’s up to the player to either take advantage of them or try to stop the enemy from doing so.
I’d say just let dishonour deal with it. Maybe dishonour could be brought in if somebody stays in vase too long, like if it could flag up if you stay behind the gate for a certain amount of time. Hey, if you stay in base for the entire match then although you don’t get dishonour yet you aren’t helping the team any more than if you log off.
If players could rate you and have you timed out then there would be too many problems. Say after loosing a match, how many players are going to take the time to vote, good, good, good, good? One decides to vote bad, bad, bad, bad, they re the only one who votes so everyone else gets negative karma. Or all 5 think that they were the only good player, the rest of the team were responsible for the loss. Though maybe they would deserve that.
I still remember a match I played, we were behind but had >350. I think the enemy team had >490 and at least 2 points capped when we killed their lord and won. A player on the enemy team said on map chat, “kitten useless team.” By the tone of the thread people might ot like that I laughed. Still wondering whether he was meaning the rest of his own team for not either defending their lord or my team for killing the lord seconds before his victory.
I’ll admit, I unchecked Conquest because of Foefire, I don’t want to do that map but it’s more the layout of the map, so flat and boring, the only thing I don’t like about having a lord is when the voice shouts “your base is under attack” near the beginning because a lone enemy is attacking the gate and the rest of the team think that means they all need to defend. Or when one of them says, “Defend the base” as if they think you are a noob for not, can’t win on defence alone.
As for the lord, well Foefire isn’t Champion’s Dusk, it’s not an automatic victory for killing the lord. You win if you already have above 350 or you can try early and get a head start. When I was doing Foefire(either because everyone else voted it or it got one vote and the spinning hand seemed to gravitate towards it) I always thought of it as playing to 350 then going for lord. You call them a team of losers because they were in their down state when they did it but they did manage to get >350 from doing things other than killing the lord. One thing, if they changed the lord too drastically, either buffing him or lowering the point given I can imagine seeing more requests like “remove Tranquility” or “Nerf the Skyhammer.” They are other things that can have a huge influence on the outcome of a match. I thought that was what made it more interesting than just capping and holding points.
I suppose as I said, I’m only interested in Stronghold justnow so changes made to Foefire or other bonuses you can win in Conquest don’t really effect me. Just saying what I think from when I was doing a lot of Conquest.

Under botting I believe but I really doubt if Anet does anything. I remember reporting a particular blocked player for both under verbal abuse (for flaming and cursing) and afk’ing and he is on almost everyday.
Same happened with me, two players spent an entire match insulting and slagging me off. I reported them for verbal abuse but they are still on almost every day. I really don’t think people should be able to spend their time in game slagging off other players.
There isn’t really an option to report for AFK, they get dishonour, timed out and paired with players with the same dishonour level if they disconnect. Staying in base for the match is annoying but I don’t think there is much you can do by way of reporting. Gets annoying when a player says, “Just let them kill our lord, we’re losing.” We may lose a match but I’d rather it not be because we gave up. If you can defend the lord for long enough, time runs out and they win at least there is some satisfaction that they couldn’t do it and hey, maybe you’ll get lucky, they’ll keep throwing themselves at your lord you’ll get player kills and get ahead of them with the score..
Cool, I suppose it makes sense to at the time of joining saying I’d represent my friend’s guild by default and them if participating in an event with them. Does also seem better that people rep because they want to not because they have to.
I could have replied saying what I said here, I wasn’t in the squad with them even though I was in WvW, was on my own so wanted to represent my default guild. If I was leading a guild I’d have a hard time argueing against that unless it was a 100% rep guild. Pretty sure it was along the lines of “Rep if possible especially in WvW.” If possible, not really possible if representing another guild. That was on the “Message of the Day.” They didn’t say anything about representing when I was invited.
I suppose I could have told him when I joined, I’d represent when I’m in his squad or party(if he was arranging to do something with the guild in PvE or PvP I’d happily represent if I was part of it, then go back to default after.) the rest of the time I’d be with my default guild wherever I am in the game. Then he could decide if he wanted me in his guild.
I would say it isn’t a very good attitude to threaten to kick for not repping when I’m in a certain part of the game, for that matter making threats kind of makes me less likely to want to do him the favour of representing.
I think hiding online status from the guild panel would be a nice feature to have. Maybe if we had the options “Show” “Hide Location” “Appear Offline” If GLs didn’t know you were not representing in WvW or wherever the focus of the guild is there wouldn’t be the chance to breath down your neck about it.
There are a bunch of reasons why some WvW guilds want you to rep them whenever you’re in WvW, even if they don’t care when you’re in PvE or PvP. Some of them are good reasons and some… not so much. Regardless, that’s something that is up to the guild’s leadership to decide, not the individual member.
What are the reasons they have for wanting you to rep any time you are in WvW? I’ve seen some camps the guards are representing a guild(or at least have the initials after the name “Guard” like players have after their name.) is that a guild upgrade that if a representing guild member takes the camp the guards will represent the guild not just the server? Are things like that the reasons they want you to represent any time in WvW?
(edited by Sinmir.6504)
Just wondering about this. A guy once invited me to join his WvW guild when I joined his squad in WvW. I thought it would be fine to join, could do some WvW events with his guild/squad when I happened to be online at the same time.
When we started playing I joined my best friend’s guild, not very active now but I still represent them as my default. Anyway, I was in WvW on my own, you know doing what you do alone in WvW, land claiming, camp capturing, attacking caravans. Representing my friend’s guild. The owner of the WvW guild started whispering to me saying I should be representing them because I was in WvW. Threatening to kick me from the guild for doing WvW and not representing, saying he was asking me nicely(threatening to kick is a very nice way to ask.) I didn’t write back, maybe I should have explaining that I was on my own, not in his squad so at that time I felt it was my choice who I represented.
Looking at his Guild panel half of the members were not representing(though may not have been in WvW)
I personally do not see what his problem was. I was in WvW but I wasn’t in his squad at the time. If I was in a roaming squad with him I’d understand him wanting everyone to represent but I was on my own.
I was in the WvW guild for a couple more weeks but I seem to have been removed from the guild now anyway, either he caught me in WvW not representing again or he was culling the guild of non representing members.
For future reference, maybe I’ll get invited to another WvW guild some time or a guild that has another main focus. Is it possible to hide online status from a guild? So maybe it says I’m online but Unknown as location or even just appear offline. I don’t need the guild owner breathing down my neck when I’m doing what that guild mainly focuses on and they want me representing because I’m doing it even though I’m not with the other members at the time.

I was offered 20 g to lose a match. I didn’t take it. However, another player on my team about 2 mins in basically went afk, running in circles in far corner of map. Obviously, that person took the bait. I reported them both. I certainly hope Anet, at a minimum, banned the guy who offered me the gold to quit.
20g is a lot to for 1 win. You only get 30s for a win, I suppose if you are at the end of the division 1 pip away you get a few gold for winning. You get your reward track whatever part of it reward but you would be lucky if the box contained 1g worth of stuff most of the time.
Though as I said, the guy in your team might not have got the gold. He can’t exactly do much if after throwing the match the other person refuses to pay up. They deserved to be reported(I’ve never seen players offer gold to go afk before, what would it come under? Scamming?) for that type of thing but I’m not sure if they deserve to be banned, warned or maybe barred from playing ranked for the season.
It wouldn’t work anyway. Say somebody offered you gold to go AFK, they send it before the match begins, you play to win. Think they’re going to report you? What can they say, “I paid a player to throw the match and they didn’t.” Could argue that they shouldn’t have taken the gold but still, could possibly say the person who offered deserved to lose the gold for trying to cheat. That could be their fine.
Other way round, offer to send the gold after the match to if you go AFK during it. Offer the gold, win the match because the other team only has 4 active players against your 5. Don’t send the AFKer the gold, think he’s going to report you? “I was offered gold to go AFK, I did and after the match they didn’t send it.” I’d feel more sorry for the 4 who had to play without a 5th member than the guy who didn’t get his gold.
That’s why I can’t see it working. Making a deal to cheat/rig a match, after one side is fulfilled there won’t really be any repercussion if the other person welches.
Team members would probably report if they knew it was going on.
Even if I try again in season 3, with renewed vigour, I can’t get my legs back. My W/L ratio can’t be fixed, it’s over for me. I’ll just have to close the door on something I once enjoyed, but can never get back.
With the amount of complaints they are getting I doubt the matchmaking in season 3 will be the same.
What I really want are for phantasms and minions to have coloured nameplates, which they did before the update. It gets annoying when there are multiple mesmers/necros.
Yup, don’t know who summons belong to whom.
Makes it annoying with your own summons having the same cyan colour as other players. Means you need to look twice to see you don’t have another member of your team with you. Any reason for the change?
If really want the Emperor’s New Wardrobe achievement could make 4 new characters, one of each of the races you don’t have yet and get the cultural gear. Going to be expensive though. Net cost if you buy and sell back a tier 3 set is 104g 20s 50c. One for every race would be 521g 2s 50c.
Plus 43g 66s 25c net cost for a full tier 1 and 2 for each race. Total of 564g 68s 75c. I’m sure there are cheaper achievements out there.
It is pretty much broken. Players shouldn’t rely on the team doing all the work and a win without trying nor should they be expected to carry a team to victory but what is with putting them against a team that is a lot stronger? Having one team control the map for the entire match and the final score being 500-<100 isn’t a fair way to do it.
If players get put in a team with others with the same MMR then shouldn’t they be up against an enemy team with the same MMR? Taking 10 players and putting the top 1-5 together just makes it one sided. If its 10 players with a similar MMR then that’s fair, could go either way. 5 high MMR vs 5 low MMR, seems like one side is meant to win before the match even starts and it just gets harder for the other 5 as their MMR goes down.

I’d say I prefer Stronghold to the Conquest arenas, would probably uncheck Conquest if there was more choice or Stronghold. Same arena over and over would get boring if I unchecked Conquest.
Just thinking if there were a few SH maps to choose from would be cool. Either with different methods of taking the enemy gates down or different objectives completely.
(edited by Sinmir.6504)
I had been thinking about Forgal Kernsson making an appearance since Tybalt was introduced but now I would prefer Eir.
The hero of destiny’s edge who is the master race. That would be cool. Maybe could have a Garm run along beside her.
I was just thinking if we had a list of things we intended to get but don’t have the coin for when first seeing it. Or waiting until the character it would be for hits the right level.
For the upcoming changes. What is the change going to be. Capture and Defend removed? For stronghold would say breaking the enemy door be the capture daily, so renaming it “Capture or door break” killing a player in combat with your lord a defend?
Or points to capture in stronghold which would be quite a dramatic change.
Aids.
Yeah, this thread gave me cancer too. Dipkitten suggestions from thieves.
I don’t usually play as a thief in PVP, I’m more concerned about gaining invisibility against my will and not being able to cap points.
Could also mention that earlier during that same match I saw one of the thieves icons in the mansion on my mini map, it was staying red even though it didn’t look like there was a red player defending it. I’d guess like the time I was effected the guy had casted Shadow Refuge over himself and the point.
I kind of find it annoying that progress is halted for capping a point when invisible. Stealth can be useful after capping a point and an unsuspecting enemy runs in to cap it but a couple of problems, one is when an engineer has a stealth gyro active, nearby allies go invisible as well, run into a point and it stays the enemy colour. The other problem, people who don’t know invisibility halts capping progress. I was on the blue team in Battle of Kyhlo Just after clearing out the clock tower a thief thought it would be a good idea to cast shadow refuge on the point. I couldn’t cap it because I went invisible as well, it stayed red. We had beaten the defending enemy players but couldn’t cap because one team member made a mistake.
Maybe if it could be made possible to cap a point while invisible? Or an option to reject a boon?
(edited by Sinmir.6504)
Race cultural glider skins.
I just never got why they are necessary. They prevent you fast travelling to an event but then isn’t the whole point in having events so that people can take part? If your going for map completion or personal story then it is annoying if the nearest waypoint to where you are going is contested.
Then there are some like Mellaggan’s Valor Waypoint in Verdant Brink that is almost always contested even when there isn’t an event nearby.
I personally think it would be best if contested waypoints were just removed from the game completely or made conmtested a lot less than they are now.
This was what I was talking about in the thread I started. A few amulets get removed and requests come in to remove more. To be honest I would rather they put the amulets back in. Let people choose to be tanky, the opponents had that same choice before the match started whether they wanted to go for DPS stats or defence stats.
I see the more tanky amulets have been removed from PVP. Not really fond of the idea. I thought it would be better to let people decide whether they want to be more offensive or defensive.
What I saw in the Heart of Mists today kind of confirms the way I feel about this. Somebody was saying how they should remove another amulet, I think it was mercenary, what’s important though is the fact that so soon after the change people are starting to request more removed. Kind of being given an inch and then trying to press for a mile.
I always thought Soldier was pretty well balanced, Sentinel, well very defensive although I never paid the 10g to get it unlocked so can’t really comment on the stats. Sad to see celestial go.
I see the Lunar festival seems to have started. Was kind of hoping there would be a PVP reward track like there was for Halloween and Wintersday.
I’ve recently been planning to try for Nevermore. Ravenswood Branch alone requires 35 Spiritwood Planks. Still planning to go for it but isn’t that a bit much for what isn’t even the complete precurser? Just the first tier.
Superior Rune of the Centaur isn’t working for me either for giving swiftness on healing. It was something that I found very useful for my thief, hope it is fixed soon.
