I would actually say that CnD needs a damage nerf. That thing can hit very hard even though it’s a “utility” skill that is primarily for putting you back in stealth. Either that or maybe give it the mug treatment where it can’t crit.
i am ok with this to nerf damage or make it non-crit only!
But therefore give it a 600 unit or even just 300 if you think 600 is too much (for PvE i would say 900 is ok but i guess it’s too strong for PvP) shadowstep range so it doesn’t miss unless it’s been dodged by the enemy.
would nerf it in PvE where it is really strong and it would be actually reliable in PvP imo.
possible buff for dancing dagger might be to apply Immobilized for 1-2 sec on the main target. what’s your opinion on this, guys?
I don’t think there is anything wrong with CnD, it’s a weapon skill after all and I don’t have an issue with the dmg it does. It doesn’t make sense IMO to make a weapon skill non-crit.
I don’t think Dancing Dagger needs immob either. The cripple is perfectly useful when it actually hits a target, it’s just bad because it doesn’t properly follow a moving target and it is too slow. Ever watched Dancing Dagger when you throw it at someone who is running perpendicular to you? It just like, kind of randomly flies in front of them and disappears usually with an “obstructed” or “out of range” message, even when there is nothing in the way and the target is in range lol.. very frustrating. If they could fix this, it would be fine.
I would suggest they make a movement speed food… but god I can only imagine how expensive it would be lol.
You’re missing the point of those traits/signets, you’re opting to have MORE mobility at the cost of something else, whether it’s a utility skill, another trait, rune perks etc. it’s to give the professions that are supposed to be mobile an option to actually be mobile, and with necromancers it’s to give the “you can’t run from me!” Profession a way to make that even more so (unless they’re fighting a thief but that applies to everyone).
Not to mention some of those + move speed traits only apply in combat (see engi and Mesmer). Also, making EVERYONE move faster completely defeats the goal that some profs are supposed to be a lot more mobile than others.
Good points thanks. Though I would think certain traits that have in-combat only rules wouldn’t be treated the same as just the “take this and run faster all the time”. They could be adjusted to just have less of an impact due to the base boost of 25% and since in combat speed is much slower anyways I don’t think it will have that much of a different impact.
In addition, with the system as it is currently It’s like if you want to be different and choose to NOT “sacrifice something to be more mobile” you’re that one guy that can’t keep up in non-stationary fight, because not only do your allies have traveler runes/passives, but so do all of your enemies. Also consider some classes it’s just far easier to sacrifice something for a passive 25%, for those that have one at least. Others not so much. Some it’s a LOT riskier to be the absolute slowest in the game than it is for others.
Making everyone faster would only be on a passive level, pretty much everyone (as far as I know) has some form of swiftness still, so you can still achieve “faster”, no?
The thing is, with traveler runes everyone CAN be the same speed anyways, it just costs a lot and forces you to be less effective but still everyone is doing it. I feel it doesn’t bode well for build diversity or make things at all interesting if EVERYONE is doing the “sacrifice something to gain more mobility” method.
At least if everyone was on the same passive level, swiftness would have more focus for those that would want to run 10% faster than everyone else, but you take out of the equation the need for the one element that everyone wants to have anyways.
So I thought of this the other day…
Some classes want a passive trait, some have one. Some have a signet, but wish they had a trait. Some have neither (mesmer) and have to use traveler runes. Everyone else that doesn’t want to waste a trait/signet slot uses traveler runes. Some signets and traits are much more useless in combat than others as well as it forces you to build around it.
I haven’t thought TOO long and kitten this, but I’m throwing it out there. So:
Running in this game is more like jogging. Running 25% faster is more like actual running. (Running in combat at base run speed is like “there is no immediate danger, Sunday stroll time please kill me!”) Let me just say I hate when games have different in and out of combat run speeds…
Why not boost base run speed by 25% for all classes, get rid of all passive (active swiftness still exists) 25% run speed bonuses (traits/signets/rune) and make swiftness simply boost run by 10%. I would think this would allow for more interesting builds with rune sets/traits.
For example, I love running with Runes of Strength but I hate being slower than a snail when I use them. I constantly have to catch up to my guild by swapping in my signet, but many a time the signet gets me killed if I get ambushed before I can swap it back.
I can throw on traveler rune armor but then it makes my build less effective as my build supplies might and I no longer get the power or 5% dmg buff from Strength runes, which also means I use different food.
Anyone else have thoughts about this? Anything I have overlooked that would make this broken? (Can’t see what would, since it would just mean everyone is on the same level).
I have however been hit by a 15k churning earth.
You have been hit by a churning earth? :O
Got hammer trained and then teleport-churned.. 1v like 15.. won’t say who, but it sucked lol. :P
Try 24k-30k backstab, 18k-23k heartseeker, Perma-Stealth-Nothing New ?)
Guys guys I finally figured it out!!!
He’s lvl 1 and wears no armor in WvW!
All thief players in the thief guild hits for those damages; that’s what i was referring to.
Not I
Like they said, “it only take 2 buttons to play thief class; 1 for stealth, the other for spam”
’That’s it in a nutshell’
I have never been hit by ANYTHING for that much, nor have I hit anything that high, not even an up-leveled light armor character. I have however been hit by a 15k churning earth before and a 15k killshot. Never a backstab.
As an almost full glass build, with 25 Bloodlust stacks, 5 Applied Strength stacks, and 25 might from guardians empowering (which probably brings me to around 4,000 total Attack rating), I can hit about 12k-15k on a tower claimer NPC in WvW depending on how much vulnerability my guild’s necro puts on him. Take away the 25 stacks of might and I hit about 9k backstab on the claimer.
Those numbers you are supplying are simply absurd ESPECIALLY if you’re referring to solo roaming. There is absolutely no way they get those kind of hits, and not even close without support from empower/vulnerability from teammates.
You’re either making it up, or the people you talk to in your guild are making it up to upset you.
Try 24k-30k backstab, 18k-23k heartseeker, Perma-Stealth-Nothing New ?)
Guys guys I finally figured it out!!!

Cloak and Dagger: Decrease casting time to 0.25s
Dancing Dagger: Projectile travels faster and it’s more accurateThere you go.
+1 I would ask for no more.
..for now..
This was literally the BEST freaking thing I have ever seen!!! My guild of abt 10-12 people were fighting in WvW at South Bay (which we didn’t own). Tough battle against a very tanky hammer train. I think they had like 6 guardians and 3 warriors, 2 mesmers and an ele.
We finally started whittling them down after maybe 20 minutes, and then our zerg came out of bay (had capped it while we were battling)… They steamroll the group, and JUST before the chaos ends BOOM! GIANT HEADS! LOLOLOLOL!
We spent so much time ROFL’ing about it that we didn’t realize a group had snuck into Bay and taken it back after a few minutes lol!
Have videos and screenshots. So many hilarious things. MOAS! MOAS look RIDICULOUS! LOLO!
Love dropping my Shadow Refuge, dodging inside it and watching the engies/mesmers/hammers blow their pushes, and then stand there dumbfounded for a second, only to start flailing aimlessly where my refuge was after I’m already gone.
I think it is a deliberate decision by ArenaNet that the game does not include emotes that serve little other purpose than to mock or humiliate other players.
/laugh is a bit borderline, but it has a lot of uses other than ridiculing people. Such as expressing amusement or joy.
This is why they cleverly make /laugh @ say “laughs WITH” and not “laughs AT”..
Or even just let us drop a stack of 250 luck into the mystic forge to make a potion that totals the value of the entire stack.
I would suggest using the LFG tool and change your message to something like “looking for more for Arah. Path (whichever) complete run/no skipping”. Maybe it will take less time without constant wiping. Never done Arah explorable so I am not sure but it’s worth a try.
Usually I can find people pretty quickly using the LFG tool that actually want to listen and do things according to the message I post. I often post “casual run/no speedrunners”.
Dyes will drop in price again anyhow. Check the term economy and you will surely find some articles about it (this isn’t sarcasm). Prices will go up and down sometime soon though they won’t be as cheap as before.
But what I’m saying is even if they go back to where they were a month/2 months ago it’s still pretty crazy. A few months ago (don’t remember exactly but I think like 6 or more months) rare dyes were abt 20s low end, now the low end is like 40-50. I’m not convinced simply making people not require duplicates will have as much of an effect as people think.
I’m just tired of the whole “amg black and white dyez R da bezt I need BILLIONS of gold for it!”.. Seriously, in every MMO that has black and white dye, they are always a billion(exaggeration) gold.
The world could stand that at least rare dye prices (and a couple masterwork here and there) be cut by 50%. Maybe they will simply with the account bound change, but then again… I didn’t expect unidentified dyes to go UP in price either but since they won’t drop anymore I would think that would serve to lower the dye supply across the board and essentially normalize the supply vs demand to be basically what it is now.. I suppose we won’t know until the change lands though.
Then there’s still the simple part about how finding unidentified dyes as drops is fun and I would be disappointed to not find any more.
I’m actually a believer that the dye market NEEDS to crash a bit.. like by 50%.. Keeping dyes as drops would accomplish this. I mean you can already see how bad unidentified dyes are exploding.
I also enjoy when dyes drop too. It’s super fun even when you get a lame color lol. Maybe keep them as drops but slightly adjust the drop rate so the combination of dyes still dropping plus the fact that people don’t need to buy multiples, might drive prices down from where they were (Unid dye was around 35s before this announcement.. anyone remember when they were 11s a piece?).
Nobody in the world needs to keep Abyss dye at 40-50 gold… Nobody… lol.
Town Clothes sold through the gem store as outfits, such as the Pirate Captain’s Outfit, will be usable as a single outfit skin through the Wardrobe. Purchasing an outfit will unlock it for all characters on your account to use. Outfits will replace the look of equipped armors, are equipped in a separate appearance slot, and do not require Transmutation Charges to use. Single items, such as the Fuzzy Hats and Scarlet’s Spaulders, will be unlocked for your entire account and usable with any armor weight. Some basic clothing items that are no longer available for purchase will be converted into endless tonics.
I was confused at first.. maybe I still am, but It seems that this is only about skins that are no longer available for purchase. However, I do also disagree with the way these are handled mainly because the main point of the wardrobe is to streamline everything, yet you are introducing a level of fragmentation by making some skins work differently than others.
In my opinion I don’t see why all skins for armor shouldn’t work the same way. Whatever the initial reasons are for doing it the way you have initially decided it’s obvious that even though it may make sense to you guys (devs), it’s causing confusion to the community.
So why not make all town clothes/outfits work differently with separate pieces interchangeable with any other type of wearables? Mad king helmet with Citadel of flame chest? Why not?
The tonic thing regarding existing town clothes that are no longer obtainable does really stink too because you are also taking something that functioned a particular way, and though expanding it in one way to allow something that didn’t exist before (in-combat use) you are removing the function everyone had available and was used to (mix and matching purchased pieces). In my opinion this is always a bad idea. You don’t want such a negative to overshadow the overall great concept.
I for one am super stoked about the whole wardrobe thing and very appreciative that it is being implemented, but I think I speak for most people when I say that for such a great feature, take a bit more time and make it everything it could be!

Welp… time to destroy my non-salvageable bloodlust stacking weapons that I spent all that gold on.. lol.
Last I knew ANET specifically said that they did not know when account bound WXP was coming. It takes time to make sure all this stuff keeps working after consolidating it.
I just came on to report this lol.
Happened to me to. Didn’t even realize it was part of the daily. For me it was nightmare court in Sparkfly Fen.
I did the LS event on day 1. My first attempt it was bugged, but they patched it later to make it playable the same day and I got it..
Because of the way the content is live unless they had a test server with an NDA for new content where a large amount of players could test it without releasing spoilers there’s no way they could accurately test everything with the amount of players doing different things all at the same time.
Plus people would still leak spoilers most likely because they feel entitled to, so..
Personally I think they do pretty well with the LS patches and fixing the stuff that launches broken. So the knights didn’t drop loot for a day, who cares? You still were able to do the entire event and get the achievements/chest reward.
Fake.. :P
No combat log, was ready to hit Print Screen?
Also, you cut off part of the 9 that you copy/pasted and flipped to make the 6.. lol.
[EDIT]: I mean! Teef OP plz nerf!
@ Steel Fenrir, you cannot map “combos” to the buttons as ANET does not approve of “macros”. They support key bindings only, meaning one button does one function such as one of the side buttons mapped to the elite skill or heal skill, but NOT one button mapped to launch skills 5-4-3-2-1 in succession etc.
Woops! Thanks for the warning Sir Kaboomski. :O :O

No prob. I was curious before as it was one of the first things I checked when I got the game lol.
@Dahkeus : I guess that’s further proof that players just kind of have to try the mice out for themselves. Personally I find the G600 one of the most comfortable mice I have ever used and I love the placement of the thumb buttons. Everybody’s different though.
@ OP BestBuy usually won’t give you problems as far as I know if you don’t like something and I’m pretty sure they have most of the gaming stuff out on display now so you could try and see what fits your hand well.
(edited by Sir Kaboomski.1508)
Your keyboard has tons of buttons on it and it is already paid for. Just a thought.
But your left hand only has 5 fingers.
I have the Logitech G600 as well and I love it. I also have the old model some people speak of and the ONLY problem I have ever had with it is that the blue LED died. Minor issue, does not affect functionality.
I actually use the G Shift button for the “autoattack” skill.

You know the single best counter to HS spam is chill.
Seriously.. chill your opponent. Makes HS go 1/2 the range. At that point you can outrun it.
I’d simply be happy with an F2 that just discarded the F1 without using it
^This for me as well.
Have you tried running a temp monitor while playing GW2 to see what the temps reach?
Also, could be the power supply.
I’ve never used one but I was under the impression that this is how it already worked??
So long as you didn’t apply the skin to something, and then transmute that to something else at least, no?
I wondered about that…
lol… whoops…?
I posted this the other day but got no feedback: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-Armor-Skins-Usage-and-Wardrobe/first#post3681544
It was an idea on how to revamp how gem store skins work, making them unlimited use but adding another method for ANET to redistribute what would be a loss of revenue, into another revenue generator therefore balancing it out.
Was hoping SOMEONE would give some thoughts/feedback/ideas on it lol.
Globs of Globby Goo..
They also increased the glove size. Looks like the whole mesh is messed up.
My apologies for the low graphics. I’m not at home currently and this laptop is quite old.
Seriously, that looks TERRIBLE… It makes your arms look short and your elbows bent inward.
I have seen this before multiple times, but not in a while, and only in WvW.
Strange thing is, when I saw it, my friend who was playing at the same time saw it too, so I really don’t know that it is client side.
Doesn’t really look like a texture issue.. More like a lighting issue. Also, when I have seen it it has been when it is “night time” in WvW.
Not sure if this has been mentioned before but here it is.
What I propose is the following:
1.) Add to the bank a “Wardrobe” section where you can store gem store (and perhaps other?) skins.
2.) Start off with enough space for like 3 or 5 storebought skin sets, and like Bank tabs, charge gems to increase wardrobe space. (this would be to offset the impact of the proposition of 3.)
3.) Make gem store skins only usable once placed in the wardrobe and make them unlimited use like the Achievement skins.
4.) Design a bunch more gem store armor skins and let people throw money at their computers! Seriously, I want some more awesome ones to buy!
Sidenotess: If someone wants to clear space in the Wardrobe without buying more space, they must choose to destroy an entire skin set (not simply withdraw it) therefore requiring purchase again if they wish to have it back. This would prevent exploitation. (You want to prevent people from just withdrawing a skin, placing another one in wardrobe and withdrawing uses from each piece to skin armor [without consuming it] and then removing it and banking it again.)
This idea could maybe use some tweaks, but I’m trying to think along the lines where it won’t be exploitable by just rotating skins in and out of the “wardrobe” without buying more space. Obviously the reason they are limited use is because of money, which is fine. The idea is to balance the income reduction from making the skins unlimited with the need to buy more wardrobe space.
Input anyone?
I run D/P and D/D. I usually use D/P against D/P to stall them first but once they goof or I get an interrupt off (headshot them mid BP + HS leap or basilisk) I go D/D, CnD + Steal then BS.
Unless you’re leaving out a part that goes something like “we all called the person a bunch of bad names, flamed them, etc.” then I don’t see what there is to worry about.
The point of the kick system is for removing people from party that are impeding progress/trolling/griefing etc. etc.
Smells fishy to me, this “hypothetical” situation.
And yes, if you abuse the kick system you might get a warning in one form or the other.
Real scenario or not it would be absurd if something should be done against you for kicking someone that blatantly refuses to do something correctly or “griefs” the group.
I’d say I probably would have reported THAT person and then kicked them..
What the OP is talking about is a real thing, it’s a very stupid thing, but it happens.
If you cast a channel AFTER your target stealths, within a certain amount of time, you become magically able to track a stealthed target.
I’ve even done it to other thieves. Heartseeker AFTER they drop Shadow Refuge, facing a different direction, but all of a sudden, even though they have been stealthed already my character flies in the direction of the Shadow Refuge.
Do you also use Teamspeak with the Overwolf overlay? I found that there are a LOT of hotkey combos with Overwolf, and sometimes when pressed would take focus away from GW2 to the point I couldn’t do anything.
For example, while talking in TS using my push to talk key (shift) and hitting my mouse keybind for F1, GW2 would stop responding to all input whatsoever.
If you have some other program like Overwolf maybe that’s it, otherwise maybe it’s the Razer software.
I don’t know, but I have also had this happen. Pretty sure it goes away if you exit the game completely and relaunch it.
What trading post are you guys looking at? Silk and Linen are the same price they were when I looked at them last week lol.
The last time I opened 15 chests I got 1 hairstyle kit and 2 makeover kits.. How did he only get 1 makeover kit out of 500? O_o
What exactly happens during the black screen? Does the whole computer become unresponsive that you need to reboot or can you alt + tab out of guild wars and still see your desktop?
Does the same thing happen in windowed mode?
What video card are you using and do you know what power supply you have? (manufacturer and wattage?)
Does the LED on your monitor stay green when it happens or does it turn orange?
Just RMA it anyway. It’s free. For someone to waste a free opportunity like that is just stupid, no questions asked.
And don’t jump to conclusions, this sort of thing happens with Nvidia too.
Do these cards have lifetime warranties? Because it’s not new. I bought it in September 2012. Had some of these issues with GW2 then, but I stopped playing for over a year, and since the problem never occurred in other games, I didn’t worry about it. Until now…that I returned to GW2.
Depends on the brand you got. Find out what maker (Sapphire, DIAMOND, XFX, etc.) Then check the manufacturers web site. I think XFX has a decent warranty, some are like 3yrs.
Looking at this more and seeing other threads about it kind of makes me agree that it isn’t the card itself. This isn’t quite the same issue of old, this is different. It’s probably a driver bug with GW2 and those cards. Like you said every other game is fine.
I have had issues on my GTX 670 where some parts of some maps would literally go crazy if I stood in a certain area. The ground/objects would disappear/skew and such, but would go back to normal if I walked a few meters back from that area. It has since resolved itself after a few NVidia driver updates.

They should remove Black lion chests from the game. They provide a method in which children can use real money to gamble. Its no different from a drug dealer going into a school and selling drugs to children. It is unethical for such a large company as Anet to provide such options when they are completely aware a vast portion of their consumers are children.
Should totally remove the killing too…
But hey, you’re surely gonna say “it’s fantasy, boobs are allowed to defy physics”… facepalm
Well, in this game they DO, erm… “bounce” even when wearing metal plate armor, so…
Personally I am not really a fan of the armor. I was really hoping for a well designed medium armor for my thief that wasn’t a coat, didn’t have some form of butt drape, and didn’t make me look fat/clunky/too skinny, and something I never expected… blue and cloudlike…
Sidenote: Here’s my take on the ’it’s skin’/‘no it’s Zodiac’ argument. (I never played GW1, but when did Zodiac become a material?)
So anyways..
Step 1: Go to Heart of the Mists
Step 2: Go to the PvP locker
Step 3: Set the category to Medium Armor and scroll to the end of the medium armor list.
Step 4: Observe the icons for the armor. If you don’t have the skins, mouse over it to see a fully colorized icon.
Step 5: Realize that the helmet fin shows blue on the icon, but there is no blue where the face is. Realize how there is no blue on the leg pieces. Realize the gloves don’t have blue fingers. WUUT??? HOW CAN THIS BE!?
[EDIT: I took another look at this as I discovered this is not foolproof]
Now, it seems they either made a mistake OR because of the “daring” design they foresaw this and decided to make it look as if the chest piece DOES have some form of “blue stuff” attached to it. So, the medium chest, at least the ‘male’ icon shows blue where the chest would show… but where the heck are my arms? There are no blue sleeves so my blue arms are skin?
By majority I would say anything on this armor-set that is “skintight” is in fact skin. Anything not attached to the body, such as the helmet fin/shoulders/and the hip flares on the light armor are not. Obviously since there are “holes” in the icons that show no blue but when you wear the armor those same parts of your body clearly turn blue, definitely at least MOST of what is blue is skin.
Logically since the torso seamlessly runs into the lower body it doesn’t make sense that from the waist down you have blue skin, your arms and face are blue skin, but your chest? Nope that’s just part of the shirt? No..
BUT considering this technicality.. Well played ANet.. well played… lol.
