Short answer:
- not going to happen
I don’t see any official response. Do you have dev quotes to back up that assumption?
Generally the only point i had a problem with was the egg running achievements, where, if you get hit, you have to repeat all the running and battles before it.
Eh, I did that one a few days ago (last achievements I needed besides Migraine), and yes, indeed, those dialogues between the 2 fights and the run are way too long when you replay it several times for the achievement. They’re fine the first time though. There should be a retry mote or something before the run…
That being said, those achievements are not that hard. The only nightmarish achievement with no retry mote is Caithe’s LS2 episode in SW IMHO. But again, we’re talking about master achievements here, and they’re supposed to take time and to be challenging. I don’t see that being an issue with the regular version of the missions (even though I would also welcome some sort of resume option after a disconnection).
As always, +1.
Build templates were a great addition to GW1 that encouraged build diversity rather than sticking to the same build (only changing a couple of utilities from time to time). It made me rediscover some of my characters. I really don’t understand why we can’t have it in GW2…

What games did you play in the 80’s with save points? At best we got save codes. When you started a game back then, you where in it till you finished it, or ran out of lives.
I played Final Fantasy 1 and Phantasy Star 1 on Wii Virtual Console and those have saves. They’re too hard even with them though in FF1 the wizards keep killing me while in Phantasy Star the sea monsters near the eastern cave at the beginning literally one shot me. I’d hate to see how Street Fighter 1 was if even the RPGs are like that.
Console cartridges were mostly read-only: there was no save (but there were cheat / save codes sometimes as Agemnon said). There were a few exception though: some games, including FF1, were shipped with a battery integrated to the cartridge that allowed game saves (pretty much like your BIOS saves data). However, it was more the exception than the rule, and most of us who were born in the late 70s / early 80s can’t even remember them.
Have you ever tried Lotus Training in PvE? It’s the best way to aggro every neutral monster around (hello stun-chaining Moas!)…
Just one question: do you want to go condi because you enjoy the gameplay, or is it because you think it’s the best build (hint: it’s not)?
Guys, I am seriously. I want to make pleasure.
You’re trying too hard, mate. It’s not an adult-only site.
EDIT – Looking at the OP’s posts history, his English is fine, so he’s either trolling or he’s had his account hacked. Either way, don’t send him anything.

I guess the title refers to how you basically had to start over again and again and… just to make it a little bit further every time in the game in the 80s (games that eventually no one would finish). It’s the feeling I have when I play some GW2 content (and I kinda enjoy it – nostalgia…), namely: SAB, adventures, some PS master achievements, and some JP, but the base story missions ain’t one of them.
What makes you say they take too long? Do you fail way too often and have to start over? What makes you fail?
It’s going to get out of control. We will have to travel to Elona to seek the help of the only “creature” powerful enough to stop it: Palawa Joko, and get double-crossed again.
OK so first we were newbies, now we’re lazy afkers… Alright…
Otherwise, don’t make the same mistake many newbies do. They think how amazing 25% speed boost signet is and completely waste a utility slot for this useless skill. You want to maintain swiftness, which can be harder on some classes than others, but it gives you 33% speed boost which is much better than any signet can give you.
I beg to differ… Swiftness doesn’t come out of nowhere. While I may agree that 25% speed boost signets feel like a waste of an utility slot, you would be “wasting” another one or a trait to get Swiftness otherwise.
Let’s take thieves for instance… You want Swiftness? You have to take Dash. Does that mean that all the thieves who take Bound instead for the extra 10% damage after a dodge, the flat 5k damage AoE (without buffs), and more generally how it turns your dodges into an offensive attack are all “newbies”? I don’t think so. It’s a choice. And since not having speed boosts is a pita, running Signet of Shadows makes sense in that case.
Yes, Signet of Shadows is pretty bad. Yes, there are other great utilities it could be replaced with, such as Shadowstep, Bandit’s Defence, or heck, even Roll for Initiative. But if you choose to go down the Bounding Dodger road (and especially if you don’t use a SB either), Signet of Shadows remain an option – possibly the best one (or the least bad should I say).
Thanks a lot for the reactivity!
Just because I’m picky, I’d point out 2 things though:
- Some ley-line thingies still seem to disappear when picked by another character (need to double check this one – it could simply be some sort of time out) – not a big deal since there are tons of them anyways.
- The hand icon above the ley-line thingies doesn’t always disappear when picked.
But of course, that’s really minor, and the events are much more enjoyable now (they were nightmarish before). Cheers!
You can use any music on your computer, yeah (some formats may not play though because of the lack of codecs – just reencode the track if that happens).
The only issue with underwater tracks is they only play if you’re underwater when the previous track ends, not as soon as you jump in a river.
Also, I wish that there could be more than just ONE piece of music that would play underwater. It gets very old. We get different music in different zones, why not underwater as well?
That’s true, but just in case, let me point out you can create your own soundtracks specifically for underwater.
A sidebar… Why not… Or simply keep it on top but make the scrollable area start under the shared slots.
It wouldn’t be the company’s best interest unless the players get tired of the gem store’s omnipresence and start leaving the game…
But yeah, I second female dreadlocks.
I do the portal jumping / perfect landing / walking to destination -errr… nodes – too.
Besides that… I guess I jump to much. I main a thief with Bound, and when I’m in a hurry and I wanna skip mobs, I can’t help but dodging onto them. And if I don’t 1 shot them (that only works in low level areas), I have to go back dodge onto them again to finish the job. Of course, that also means I almost never skips mobs, even when I want to…
Oh and I kill pigs, even though it’s my guild’s tag. Don’t ask me why, but if I see a pig, I must kill it. That works with cows and chickens too (which reminds me… I STRONGLY encourage you to try and kill the chickens in the Stronghold of Ebonhawke – be ready for a surprise).

The footfalls need to be DRASTICALLY increased in duration.
As said in other topics, I completely respect your point of view, but not everybody shares it. I love subtle footsteps and would be kinda kittened if they increased the new legendary ones (I don’t have the new SB yet, but I’ve crafted Nevermore).
How does it change the business model?
I’m not sure how familiar you are with MMOs, OP, but they’re different from other games. They take a lot of money to run. That money has to come from somewhere.
Games like WoW and FFXIV have subscriptions that keep them afloat. If you have a million people giving you $15 a month, that’s $15 million dollars a month. Games like SWToR have “optional” subscriptions that don’t really let you do anything unless you subscribe. You can play through the story and that’s about it. Same with most games that have optional subs.
Then there are pay to win games that require you to pay to do well or advance.
Anet is none of these. It’s a buy to play game that supports it’s staff of 300 plus employees with sales from the gem store.
Anet isn’t going to stop making gem store items any more than the company you work for is going to cease to try to make a profit and pay their employees.
Someone has never played GW1.
If you had read my first in this topic, you wouldn’t have had to type all this, you know…
I am suggesting getting a reward without putting any effort is killing the game.
If you only want easy dailies like the gathering ones, ask for that instead of asking people to play the game for you so you don’t have to do it yourself (“any mesmer @ JP?”). I don’t give a kitten about the dailies. But I do mind Anet’s been destroying some content (JPs) while trying to promote it through dailies (cf my post above).
How long do you think you would keep playing the game if you could get everything without any effort, just like JP achievements after crossing a portal? Only PvPers / WvWers would. And then again, for how long?
Why do I have to fight during 2 hours in DS to open a chest? Why do I have to farm for months to craft a legendary? Why do I have to play all those dungeons to get that title?
Would I open DS chest if it spawned at the pact camp every 2 hours without any requirement? Yes. Would I do the meta again? No. Or maybe once every 6 months. Did I feel satisfaction when I completed the meta? Definitely.
The problem with portals is not so much that people who aren’t skilled enough to complete a JP get the reward (daily, or achievement), it’s the fact new players will be tempted not to even try the JP to get the reward immediately, and therefore completely miss a content they may end up enjoying.
It’s like the level 80 boost. I love it, but I also think letting us use it on our first character is a huge mistake. I don’t care if a new player gets to level 80 the day he buys the game. What I do care about is the fact I know if I was a new player, I would have used it too, and I would have missed the whole pre-level 80 content (you know when you go back to low level areas with a lvl 80 character, you rush through things and can’t enjoy them as you do with a low level char).
Now, of course, portals have always existed. What is new however is the fact you’re now guaranteed to find one for a JP every day, which wasn’t the case. Anet has started to cheapen and therefore destroy content from the game (with the last patch: JP and the whole leveling process for your first char), and that, I care about. For the others, but even for me who have already played this content. Because it’s a MMO. And because MMO are not fun when played alone after the population has been driven away by the lack of content.
So yeah, remove portals from the JP, and add another PvE daily to the rotation.
Quip. Definitely Quip. Or maybe Quip, I’m not sure.
Nah, it’s Quip. Or wait… is it Quip?
1) Just follow the story to get there. You indeed have to cross SW – not sure what you mean by exploring. You simply walk through it and voilĂ .
2) You can explore HoT on your own, but keep in mind a few things:
- A few places won’t be accessible before you learn a specific mastery (some you will learn in no time like basic gliding and bouncing shrooms, some that will take much longer).
- Some places are hard to reach without a specific mastery (you can get there, but it takes much longer) like Nuhoc Wallows. That’s pretty much the whole TD map.
- HoT isn’t exploration friendly. There are tons of mobs, and they strike really hard. You can’t simply run through a pack without dodging and expect to survive as you do in Central Tyria.
3) What’s your issue with SW?
No, there isn’t. You have to play your story to reach HoT, and the story goes through SW.
EDIT – Inculpatus: are you sure you can use the GH if you haven’t unlocked HoT?
At the moment, Light in the Darkness, because the name is cool and fits my main character’s background (a thief raised in the streets of Divinity’s Reach who became the commander of the pact), and because it’s semi-hard to obtain, as opposed to many “free” titles (not the rarest title, for sure, but some of those master rewards were kinda challenging).
i LOVE gliding… it’s an awesome addition to the game….
BUT…… when trying to do jumping puzzles (such as Morgan’s Spiral), and it’s not turned off for one i’m working on, it’s really frustrating…. a player being able to turn gliding on and off would be UHMAYZING!!! is that something that would be considered for a future update/release??
Troll’s and Weyandt’s Revenge say no.
They should disable mesmer portals as well…
Last time, instead of trashing SW recipes as usually, I asked in map chat someone wanted them. A guy responded, I sent him the first 5 and then was blocked for excessive messaging, leaving me with no choice but destroying the rest. I’m not sure what is the most excessive: my messaging, or Anet’s filters.
EDIT – I dunno if it’s still the case, but you also used to get blocked from the LFG tool for the same reason, after relisting a few times your announce, which was quite funny when you know how long it can take to find raid groups with a non FOTM class.
(edited by Sir Mad.1092)
Whenever you need infos on an item (or pretty much anything), type /wiki <item name> in the chat.
Daredevil. Not thief. Daredevil. With a staff. And dodges. Lots of them.
I just can’t play any other class.
I agree, but since there are crafting licenses in the gem store, I doubt it will ever happen.
I had to “forget” leatherworker on my main to learn chef (on top of huntsman) simply not to have to relog to do my daily crafts (spiritwood, deldrimor, elonian leather, oil and food), leaving me with no way to craft damask. Ideally, he would still be leaterworker and possibly scribe so I wouldn’t need to log in other useless characters for the common crafts (I don’t mind reloging for the rare stuff, like ascended equipment).
But again, since there are crafting licenses I’m not willing to pay due to their price, I doubt it will ever change.
I did the maths some time ago, and switching from marauder weapon + armor (and zerk trinkets) to full zerk increases your DPS by 4%. But keep in mind WvW is not only about DPS, it’s also about burst damage, which is where zerk shines.
That being said, I use a Marauder armor and won’t change it anytime soon.
Seconded. I would also add (optionally): hide mobs nameplates at night unless they’re within your light source range / right in front of you..
This is why I gave up on GW almost 5 years ago. Too little information, too many roadblocks in finding it, and too many hoops to jump through. I paid for something, I shouldn’t have to go find an oracle to divine the information I need, or perform acrobatic tricks to get it.
All the info you could possibly need is there: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page
You can even use /wiki in-game to open a page with the article you’re looking for.
As for your monument issue, have you earned any reward yet? What’s your main character name?
Now that infusions with special visual effects seem to have become a new kind of “prestige” reward, would it be possible to have them with WvW stats as well? I guess the easiest way to do that would be to add new MF recipes. For instance:
- Mighty Ghostly Infusion + Mighty WvW Infusion + 10 Siege Masters Guides + 1 Bottle of Elonian Wine (the elementary dude is thirsty) = Mighty WvW Ghostly Infusion
What about carrying mussels in his bag in the hot jungle and leaving them in his bank for months and not getting sick afterwards?
There’s strong magic at work here…
I just hope HoT legendarys will be updated with “stronger” footfalls that last as long as the original Legendarys.
I hate the 1st gen legendaries footsteps and would disable them if there was an option for that. That’s also one of the reasons why I love HoT legendaries. Please, don’t change them.
I want to see if people find this useful and then maybe I will work on another one.
Frankly, yes and no. Yes because there are some good tips, no because I haven"t learned anything and because the weapon sets I use the most are not covered (staff / P/P). But still, I guess I may help new players.
2 remarks though:
- Withdraw: I used to do that, now I simply turn the camera backward manually. If you have your mouse sensibility correctly adjusted (which is kinda required for playing thief anyway), it’s faster and less confusing than hitting several shortkeys.
- Heartseeker + BP, Whirling Axe + BP, etc: as you know, it’s called combo fields. You’ve taken 2 examples, there a zillions from the thief’s playbook. I think explaining how combo fields work (at least smoke, and eventually dark and ethereal – think Throw Gunk) and quoting the main finishers would help new or not so new players more.
I would say try it out…
But indeed, Staff Daredevil – especially with Bound dodges – are quite different. The whole idea behind the combo is not only to be able to keep attacking while mass dodging (as opposed to burst → hide, rinse and repeat), but also to use your dodges as another attack.
Every staff skill but AA refills your endurance, and you have 3 dodges to starts with. And of course, if that’s not enough, you can use Signet of Agility in case of emergency. And since you also wanna try not to have full endurance to get extra damage, you don’t simply dodge to evade attacks, you also dodge to close gaps, or you dodge for the sake of dodging (monitoring and managing your endurance is primordial: you don’t wanna have full endurance, but you don’t wanna run out either). You no longer dodge away either: you dodge onto your target for even more chaos.
I first though the name “Daredevil” was kinda ridiculous, but you have to play it to understand how accurately it describes the spec. You often have that feeling… you know… “kitten, I have to get in the middle of that fight with my paper armor…” And you know as long as you keep attacking, you will survive, and may very well drop dead as soon as you stop.
The feeling is different with Dash IMHO, but that’s another story.

Inbox = mail box (or more accurately, a box for the mail you’ve received).
The guy was probably a non-native English speaker expecting a simple mail from you.
I have made Nevermore and Hope and when it comes to making the ascended precursor neither of these required this many ascended mats nor did they require ascended inscriptions. To say it needs more than the one handed Prototype is fine, but even when you look at the mats required for The Raven Staff it doesn’t even compare.
Tigris: https://gw2efficiency.com/crafting/calculator/78425-Tigris
- 29 Spiritwood
- 10 Deldrimor Ingots
- 26 Elonian Learther
Total cost (if you don’t craft them yourself): 1,143g
The Raven Staff: https://gw2efficiency.com/crafting/calculator/74068-The-Raven-Staff
- 69 Spiritwood
- 3 Deldrimor Ingots
- 10 Leather Square
Total cost: 1.293g
Basically, they made the precursor more expensive, but the whole set of achievements cheaper, which is IMHO a very good move. And again, I’m not sure what you’re complaining about… The whole thing is actually cheaper.
(edited by Sir Mad.1092)
I kinda agree. Everything post-core Tyria (SW included) is too repetitive and lacks of random dialogs. The guy talking about the mother tree in SW pact camp for instance is on a loop every 30 sec or so, which makes the place the opposite of immersive. The same goes for the guy who greets the players next to the portal, or… or pretty much every NPC in HoT.
My 2 cents, by order of priority:
- Do not make short audio loops. They should be several minutes long. When you hear a NPC say the same thing 20 times in 10 minutes while you’re clearing your inventory, you start wishing the elder dragons had won the fight.
- More random dialogs indeed. That’s what makes Central Tyria so much fun to explore. There’s always something new or funny to discover.
On a side-note: we also need more QA for the audio in foreign languages. Many replies are simply cut in the middle of a sentence because the actor was taking too long to say his text compared to the English stream. That’s especially true in PS, and even more with some specific actors (the French Taimi for instance).
Yeah, ESC key (you may want to disable the “close window on ESC” option first), or if your point is to stop attacking the target, you can assign a shortcut to “stow weapon”, which does the trick.
Hey,
You may want to post your feedback here instead:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Official-Feedback-Thread-WvW-Reward-Tracks/first
I also am a game dev and I know all the code and how it interacts with other code so I know exactly how long this fix should take.
I also know exactly how much they care about thief.
Errr… In that specific case, it should take about 1 min, CTRL+Fing time included…
A big reason why I even take Trickery at all is the damage bonus, which is why I’m upset they nerfed it for any build not playing spam.
I think it’d be better if they just undid the change. It wasn’t necessary at all.
… Which would nerf anything but AA spam.
Either way, the trait is flawed: it’s either skill spam or AA, but I guess I like the former the better.
Aye, no more wings until we get an option to hide the other characters’ backpack.
IMO they just need to make the footfalls last longer. And this for all G2 legendarys, the footfalls disappears as soon as they are made. The G1 legendarys’ last for a while and you can make figure 8s with them.
As for the projectiles, I wish it shot out tiger claws instead of the spirits. The streaks look nice but yeah I wish they made the tiger spirit more visible.
Some of us hate the 1st gen footfalls and have crafted 2nd gen legendaries for that reason (among others)…
