How to improve?

Hello!

Im a thief main, but I played some warrior/necro today to get the profession achi for the backpack, and well.. I used the metabattle builds, the first one for both class, condi berzerker and condi reaper. But In both cases I really feel like:
1, My burst is not enough,
2, my dmg in longer fights is just bad
3, 0 mobility
4, too squishy

Now I want to learn these classes and slowly the others too, because it helps -I have to get diamond 2x in the remaining seasons to get the backpack, currently in t5 sapphire-
So any tips what should I improve on? Or some tips on how to play these classes?

Warrior was : sword/torch and mace/shield necro is : staff scepter/warhorn

Hello!

I don’t think I will be able to finish my pvp back, but I can reach around t3-t4. Now I heard that the achievements will be closed after the 4. season, and there might be a new way of getting the backpacks… but does this mean that the achievements and my progress will be nothing? So someone who got only t1, and someone who almost finished t4 will both be ‘deleted’? Or the fact that I got further will count somewhat after the seasons are over?

Ehh…AB multiloot creates no new gold, so the AH fees from shifting all your salvage loot around probably acts as an overall sink.

Exactly, different from Silverwastes where in a train with 50 people each chest will pump approximately 60 silver into the economy together with the mats, Auric Basin will only give things that can be sold for money but won’t generate more money, only gear, materials or recipes that can be traded and some account bound stuff.

If anything it’s reducing inflation while still giving players a shot at get some good gear out of it. You’re making lots of money because of this using the TP? That’s great because TP taxation is removing even more gold from the economy.

This makes 0 sense in so many ways…. At least think a little bit please.
What makes gold in sw chest farm? The champ bags. Do you get ton of champ bags from AB farm? Yes
What you said about the tp sell price is also true for selling mats -linen, plat leather if salvaged on a 40-50 chara- you get from sw farming. So sw also has gold sink and AB also gives liquid gold, your argument is invalid, and besides it has nothing to do with the multi-loot, since you can still open like 20-30chests for a meta event YOU CONTRIBUTED FOR. And not go to 5-6 more instance where you did NOTHING.

@SkyShroud Yes, and that means that ecto prices will drastically drop, which will affect those who don’t do AB. If it won’t then people who don’t do AB multiloot, because they -very logically- find opening chests for 15min boring will get behind in gold compared to those who do AB multi-loot, and this affects others too since their gold value will decrease compared to those who make 40gold in this 20 MINUITES! Which is 120gold an hour if you only log in 3x a day to loot AB…. And that is INSANE. (yes, many ppl told me on map chat they get this amount -40gold – by one meta event… JOKE.

The reason you are wrong, is that no one who is supporting the multi loot brought up any reasonable points . Not to mention very probably all of them are AB multilooters…

Let’s not change topics, I never said it’s an exploit just that it’s unfair…
You do the meta ONCE, why would you have the right to loot 5-6 meta maps?

Selling dungeons and SAB etc. while I dislike that as well, untill people pay why not? If someone is willing to pay others for a completed dungeon etc let them be.
SW chest farm is not locked behind meta, and also it results in a way less gold/hour…

@Draknar It does affect the market prices of ectos and many other things…

EDIT: Really would be great if a team member would response to topics involved in gameplay/balance etc. and not only in discussions which involve gem store suggestions, gilder skins and other stuff which is for $$$ …..

@danielrjones Yeah i mean the amount of rares/exos you get on top of the champ bags and ton of other stuff is just…. -You get the map CURRENCY TOO, so you do some events, and then infinite loot…. It’s fine btw, im sure you couldn’t guess how bad this farming is…:D

@Nemesis No you don’t… meta takes is like 10min usually, really easy and it gives you enough keys+auric currency to buy enough keys and loot 5-6 instances… much work such time…

Awesome idea. Hopefully when legendary armors come out, Anet will make this change and the armors will follow the same principle, with selectable runes.
Tho imo buying or unlocking sigils after spending thousands of golds for a weapon is… well.. too much, so we can just have free selectable sigils, but if we have to unlock SOME that’s fine too, just not all of it…

Congratulations for getting rich by either pressing 1 or F for hours straight Qasa. I hope you feel accomplished with this really challenging method of acquiring gold.
Oh, and thank you very much, but my wallet is just fine with normal playing, and more skillful ways of farming. But I rather enjoy the game, it’s a game not work after all
Would be nice tho if gw2 would reward skilled players with other farming methods, where the reward is increasing with the players skill, but this mmo is made for ‘casuals after all…’ I like the game, just the farming part is bothering me, some mmos make farming hard and enjoyable too.

@danielrjones I only did a few hours of cf, and I tried this multiloot once before I started complaining, just to see how it is…. -both were boring and a really kitteny way of farming…. boring, no skill needed… Seriously I like gw2, but the farming methods are just bad… cf or zerg farms where you press autoattack and loot… in other mmos you either farm alone or do dungeons -yes you can farm dungeons/fracs here too but thats the only way of ‘skilled’ but i would rather call it semi-skilled farming….- so yeah i think my point is clear..

The person has to find a 2nd successful AB map, have enough keys, and run it. How is it unfair? Because you don’t want to take the time to find another squad to join for a 2nd map? Or that you don’t have enough keys for a 2nd run though?

I have both the time and the keys to do it, but I don’t want to since its a really stupid way of farming. Wow, what a hard job to do find a multi loot squad in lfg, when its full of it. I hope you don’t sweat too much when you find these groups.

No, since you don’t do anything just open chests… WOOW GUYS WE GOT AN ALTERNATIVE FOR SW CHEST FARM…. AB CHEST FARM WOOW SO GREAT….NOT…
It’s so easy to get keys, if you do the last 2-3 events and tarir meta you got enough keys to loot the medium/big chests in 4-5 intance… at least sw is a bit more work…

Joke…. 65s is not a lot anyways, and there are other methods to get mystic clovers, go play some pvp or www and finish the reward tracks, you get 2/track or 7 at the non-repeatable ones. Oh you actually have to work for that, not like pressing F on sw cf? I’m sorry, but we are talking about legendary weapons which should be exclusive…

It’s not just that the mystic coins are increasing in price. It’s the reasons behind it and players feeling that the equilibrium price for mystic coins is higher than it should be.

ANet lowered the supply when they went from the old daily system to the daily login reward system by 1/3. You used to get 365 coins per year if you did the daily every day. Now you get about 260 coins per year. A loss of about 100 coins.

Then they added the new legendaries with HoT. All four of the new legendary weapons require a full stack of Mystic Coins AND 77 Mystic Clovers. Which on average DOUBLES the requirement of Mystic Coins needed.

So that makes people wonder if ANet miscalculated what that would do the price of Mystic Coins and if they overshot the price they were aiming to get Mystic Coins to.

The best solution is to increase the supply somehow. The only problem is since the main usage of Mystic Coins is to make legendary weapons any reduction in price in a major component may lead to higher demand for the other legendary weapon ingredients. Such as T6 mats, which some have experienced a drastic price increase already. Namely Vials of Powerful Blood.

So if the equilibrium price increased, those who hoarded it might sell more, since it’s more appealing to sell it for more. I got like 400 in my bank, and i’m not willing to sell any rn, if it goes to like 80s-1g then i would sell it. That increased supply and then price will get lower again… let the market sort it out itself, untill it’s not like you can’t find any mystic coin anet shouldn’t interfer like they did with resonating silvers… that was just a joke… 50s>5copper…
Same in real life… why do you think some luxury goods are expensive? Because it’s rare? What if a food will have shortage? You can’t just complain at governments to lower the prices by increasing supply, since there is no land…
So the price is perfectly fine, until an item will have a huge shortage only then should it’s supply modified.

Being at the top makes sense as it’s designed for things to be used across all characters, such as bank access, merchants, TP, etc. Being at the top makes it easier and faster for the items to be accessed.

Just amazes me people can always find ways to complain about being given something for free…

“Stop complaining it’s free”… So if someone gives you drugs for free, would you just consume it without complaining? I guess not.. Even if it’s free, if it annoys some people -like me- that it’s in the wrong place and we can’t move it, then let us complain…

Its going to be an annual festival from now on, so yes. It’ll return.

As for the orange weapons, there’s an achievement under SAB World 2 that gives you a box which gives you a choice of orange weapon skin. Requires you to do 3 SAB dailies 8 times. So we’ll be able to at most get 2 of them this year, with a few days’ leeway to miss some dailies. You can also get one orange ascended weapon for completing the other SAB weapon collections.

Hello!

This is my first time doing SAB, and i’m really happy, because it was fun. Tried it today for a while.
Now im a completionist, and I would like to collect every skin, looking at the prices -50 bauble for each, i don’t think this will be possible in 19 days.
I can easily get every achievement, all the 16 yellow and green skins – 64 gold, RIP. // There was some orange mentioned in the update, but didn’t see any, wbo them?
And I can probably get max 3-4 of the green sets. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want things for free, but probably I could only get all those blue skins if I farm 24hours all of the 19 days, which I won’t. So I would like to ask if SAB will return? It’s fine for me if it’s only next year, I don’t mind getting the rest of the skins then, even the thought that I can finish the collection is enough for me:D

I’m a fairy new player, playing since summer and since I’m really competitive those old achievements which are unobtainable are really annoying me, hopefully they will be re-introduced. No point to have the cap, if there are other 4-5k AP unobtainable for new players, since we will never catch up anyways, might as well let the top players get they daily 10 AP…. //same for already gone minis, skins etc, which can’t be obtained anymore. These are more annoying than some number next to a name tho.

But to make everyone happy, imo the cap should be increased by 500-1000 a year – You can get 3650+ a year, so new players can still catch up, and veterans can keep hunting AP. The wiki has 60k AP chests, so having a cap really makes it hard to get, this way those higher level skins/chests / achis are more easy to get.

EDIT: Someone else before me already mentioned sth similar, well that could work too.

My question is that is there a limit until when I can get the pvp backpack? Or it will be acquirable anytime, like the legendary weapons? I heard that every year a new legendary pvp backpack will be released, but will that mean that the olders ones won’t be craftable anymore? Or i can’t get the precursor etc for it, because the achi will go away?

Hello!

I’m about to start a journey to get my first legendary slowly slowly. My plan is to craft the precursor.-Is there any site which shows the TOTAL amount need from everything for each precursor?-
I don’t know which one to craft yet, so knowing the total value could decide it.
Also i’m planning to farm most of the things myself, and buy as least as possible. I got around 520 gold, 720k karma, 200 obsidian shards, 11 clovers, tons of mats, 430 laurels, the tyria map complete item, 2k badges etc.
Also with these new map rewards farming the T6 mats will be relatively easy, max 1-2months.

Well the main issue is the precursor crafting. I like Twilight and Nevermore the most, but my main is thief, so the dagger isn’t out of question either. But i’m starting to get bored of thief, and already leveled, war, rev and ele to 80, so idk which one to get out of this 3…
Any ideas, tips, tricks?:D

Show recipes, like skins

Recipes could be shown, lets say in an account/character cookbook.
There are recipes which are soulbound, so there would be 2 categories. Would make it easier to see what you have on what characters, since there is no way of seeing this at recipes, only when you get them again and realise you can’t use them.
Im not opening this thread because it happened to me, I hardly craft stuff, but this is the main reason I don’t start crafting.

I find HP trains in HoT zones very useful because a lot of those HPs are rather difficult to many and it would otherwise take them a lifetime to unlock their elite spec. I’m not a huge fan of zergs, but there are situations (many in HoT) where it is a viable option for many players.

That being said, you’re not going to change the zerg culture of MMOs. It’s something that has been around since MMOs were created. Every game adapts to them and learns to tolerate it in varied degrees.

Every game? Maybe at events very rarely, or pvp wars but otherwise no… zergfarming in gw2 is so big its not even funny… Otherwise i never saw any zerg in any mmo before… and i played a few

Really? you’re going to automatically assume, and insult, people who dont agree with you? Why’d you bother even making your thread in the first place?

Beyond that, you do realize group events are for groups from 2 people to a full capacity map (roughly 150 players)? There really isnt much else to discuss in this thread until you understand that.

There isn’t much point to comment, if you can’t interpret a simple text.
The main point was that these brainless group ‘events’ are the most effective way to farm. Easiest, and best gold/hour rate…. Which is sad.

Oh, and I was right with the comment at the end. Keep spamming auto attacks for hours, and enjoy it!

For PvE: Both staff and D/D are fine. Brazil posted a comparision between power + condition builds. And basically for power builds: Autoattacking D/D with Trickery instead of Daredevil> Autoattacking with Staff > D/D Daredevil with Backstab (no heartseeker) > Autoattacking D/D Daredevil.

Would this build be viable in PVP- d/p-staff and PVE: d/d staff?
I really like the staff playstyle, with the daggers and pistols, while i got really bored from the shortbow after 6months. It woulnd’t matter for me if this build is a bit weaker than lets day d/p-shortbow, or shortbow-staff thief, but if its much worse than i won’t play it.
Tho aside of giving up mobility, I think it got a strong 1v1 potential in PvP, with high DPS.

Hello!

There are players who play many different professions, and as we know each profession uses different builds in pve/dungeons/raids/pvp/www etc etc. Depending on playstyle players might just change builds in the same game mode, just to not get bored. Now changing weapons/specializations, armor etc might take a while, and its sometimes hard to remember everything, so we might need to prt screen every build we use or use some program like words, which takes away time we spend on gw2:P
So my suggestion is that each character could have 4-6 profiles (just an example), where we can build specializations, and weapon types. (Or just specializations, dont argue with this point, its just an idea yet). Lets say if we have 6 profiles /character, we could expand this number by buying extra slots (lets say untill 10) for 100gems. Each 100gem would unlock +1 profile for the whole account. -Just some extra for ANETs side, remember more money>more updates etc.
Players could swap between profiles anytime when out of combat. And as i said this is just an idea, so profile could consist only from specializations, or weapon types too (without being an extra place to store items, so the weapons need to be in the inventory to equip) maybe armor types too etc. But the main thing is the specializations.

Sometimes when i do open world i wish i could climb up to some mountains to take some amazing screenshots, but it is impossible, since the characters movements are blocked.
My suggestion is to allow more free movements to climb mountains and let us see some amazing views from the top

It is called elite specialization after all, but like this, its nothing special. Its supposed to make your character stronger, but it just offers a little bit of different playstyle to each class and nothing else. I cant speak of other classes, but for thief, daredevil gives a bit more mobility, but way less dps, than using critical strikes, trickery and shadow arts…

And that is what they are meant to do. To give you a different way to play your favourite class. If elite specializations really were stronger than the core specializations, who would ever use the latter?

I dont agree with the vendor one being an exploit… Its just people simply dont know about the vendor selling items for cheap, and the price on the tp is high, because there is a demand… buying it for cheap from a vendor and sellint it is anything but exploit…

So my issue is that i just cant set my logitech rumblepad2 controller for gw2… I have the logitech gaming software, but it cant recognize my controller… Any ideas how to set it up?

So new question again.
I got 2,256 power as a lv80 thief, with full exo set, and scholar runes, is there any way other than ascended to increase the power? I feel like my damage is kinda low…

Well what if someone doesnt welcome them/like them here? Let them be as toxic with them as they want, untill its still following the rules, stop protecting and whine about f2p restrictions, it really starts to get annoying

Hello!

So anets goal is to get new players buy the game.. then they shouldnt basically give them a fully free core game with only chat restricts (please dont come with “www is only from lv 60” nonsense, since getting lv80 is not a big deal…)
So the suggestion is:
-Decrease max lv to 60- with this every map higher than lv60 will be disable for them, along with the lv 70-80 story.
-Make only AC dungeon available
-Dont let them play www, only eotm, for 1hour each day
-Dont let them play unranked/ranked sPvP, only custom games.

With these it would be more of a trial, it would give the players an insight to every game mode, and it also wouldnt let them play them fully, so there is a motivation to buy the game, and also the older players wont feel betrayed neither, afer supporting anet with they money….

I think 2 is already too much, and as everything which supports F2P players, my answer is:NO

EDIT: Why does so many people try to help f2p players?? You got the game, why do you care about them? They didnt buy it, they shouldnt get anything extra…
