it is the pve condition spam design that is to much in WvW(since classes are deigned to carry the players with damage output), epidemic is fine….
Epidemic is taking the blame due lack of balance…. and lack of healthy combat.
Theres to much aoe and damage ouput and it isnt that hard to ovrestack it on targets.ahh so there werent so many condo focushed builds huh
After Glamour confusion mesmer nerf there were no condition builds until HOT release. Shout warhorn warrior was also meta, which took care of many condies.
Now everything is spaming condies and even if you have no condi damage there is always epidemic.
A lot of things are pointless in pugs, but guilds that do GvGs can use all profesions, since they all have something unique they do.
Those changes would be great DuckDuckBOOM.4097
I hate playing zergs, but in 15v15 guild format, having a single mesmer(since SOI nerf) is still very beneficial. Gravity well or time warp can swing a battle. Sword 3 immob, shield 5 stun. A little bit over 50% quickness uptime or great resistance share. Distortion sharing for rezing, best blink stomper.
But yea, being in zerg kinda sucks if you’re new or especialy when it starts lagging, since active defense op.
Try commander/wanderer/minstrel equipment. Oh yea, sword+shield/staff.
I’m sorry, but i was trying to come up with a viable build for this, but i just can’t. Necro will always do it better.
If you don’t know the builds yourself you are by no mean ready to do something like that, even more so since HOT release.
Sry man, but this is the truth.
EDIT: Nvm.

Just return to PvE and leave WvW alone with these gimicky ideas.
You are way too tanky for the party you are playing in.
Attacking a t3 keep with a zoneblob is not the only way to do it, once people realize that(when score acctuly matters) WvW is going to get better.
Only problem with all these changes ANet is doing is that score is totaly irelevant, otherwise they are ok, these have also been promised half a year back.
I think it to be a great change and an incitive to defend, since it makes defending a t3 way more important than flipping t0 or t1, since it is worth more than 2x of what base is.
It was already stated that they will not deliver a massive overhaul(i will not look for source), but do it bit by bit, which i think is a real shame, but what can you do.
Never and i realy don’t want to.
1. Well it’s something i guess, not particulary hyped or anything. I wonder what would cause people to join these new worlds?
2. I don’t realy know, but linking is making hard to recruit people into a guild, since everyone is aware that that person is going to have to transfer to next linking server or host server. I think just merging servers or some entire new mechanic should be in order.
3. No. What does it offer me? No people, no guilds, no infrastructure (website, TS,…),…
Honestly, i have no idea how to make this better. Massive overhaul maby, but that would take years and if you make a slightest mistake, people will hate you.
If you look at it WvW doesn’t offer much to veteran player, exept for fights(combat system is fantastic, best i’ve ever played), which makes WvW a sandbox without any particular goal.

Generaly spreading up on open field will wear opponents group down, since you will not wipe and given supperior numbers eventualy prevail(reinforcements, rezes come in handy).
Pugs against a guild group(same numbers) will never result in Pugs winning, unless some pretty crapy guild is against group made of mostly guild players.
When I picture open field dispersal like that I just see a tightly packed arrowhead doing circles in a field mowing down sheep with auto-attack spam. The sheep on the outside toss rocks and stuff at the zerg but there is no avenue for focus fire, and the heal and deflect and block renewals are too strong for uncoordinated sticks and stones to do anything.
I can definitely see this working with a way-point nearby though. Where the level of reinforcement is as you described.
I have seen it employed on Gandara to great success. At one point it was known as cloud formation, where all ranged(gandara always had problems with to much ranged) would simply disperse around the enemy and evade the spearhead like a colony of fish. Sure 1 or 2 might be picked off on every push but they have time to return to the fight with this formation.
There is still commander and melee, it just doesn’t engage direcly, but engages on people that have fallen out of the group, eather by their own mistake or a lucky corrupt.
You also have to know that in pugs a lot more people run zerk gear, that coupled with being outnumbered can realy hurt the guild group, since damage done to whole group is comparable to what is done to an individual in GvGs.
Think of this as defense in depth as opposed to blitzkrieg.
EDIT: But yea, you still need some veteran players on the pugs side to acctuly succed.
You also have to know that a good organized guild punches a lot higher, than a pug group, in terms of numbers.
Also hiting the back of a guild will not get you anything in current meta, since there is no backline anymore.
Links should be abandoned and a new solution found.
ANet is creating tiers(while linking was soppost to achive relative equalness between server), and not only tiers but winners also(FSP was created to fight french monster??? WHAT.
Glicko is not keeping up with the changes. Changing to 1-up, 1-down won’t achive anything without better balance and like i said multiple times links aren’t creating the balance required.
Some communities are strugling after relinking happens->it can destroy a server.(not mine, Gandara is pretty healthy).
I’m sorry but it might be time to bomb wvw system and realy rework it instead of these minor changes, which aren’t realy doing much. Maby remember the “elaborate” solution described here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Additional-World-Linking-Information/first#post6172091
or something else, but linking in it’s current form can not stay pernament solution.
Linking system is developed, now work on top of this, create something that will make sense and acctuly present it fully, insted of offering poll for 1 sollution or reverse to old system.
Server merges instead of linkings are the solution.
Server communities can never establish if people get rotated in and out every 1 or 2 months.
This might be the best solution in the end. Like i said in post above, there is a lot of community rotation going on, i can’t even track guilds on my server+linking server.
I fell like it was a good change, if for nothing else, it provides some shorter goal, or well that felling, ok why not win this, we only need 100 points,…
I have to admit even i taught about it a few times, but haven’t realy taught of PPT for a very long time.
1-up, 1-down system definetly, just don’t create power tiers with linking, like NA(or old NA, i’m EU so am not up to date with situation there since last linking).
1 month linking might prevent some of the bandwagoning, since it would basily double gem requirement, but i’m not realy sure on this one, since that also doubles community shuffling.

Terrible in solo content. You will be able to do most of it but at about half the speed of other classes while requiring twice the effort. Often more frustrating then fun.
Every raid group will want at least one Chrono for support and can fill in the tank roll
Terrible in large scale WvW unless you like providing portals and nothing else
Roaming we are decent but other classes are better and will move around the map faster
Good condi build in PvP at the moment but we are always vastly overrated by the PvP community that always demands nerfs no matter what posistion we are in and Anet is more then happy to oblige. Though the last few patches were surprisingly good for us.
It is acctully great for gvgs. That quckness and ressistance arent going to share themaelves. Same thing in pugs.
You can change editor to PvE gamemode so that it includes individual pieces of equipment insted of amulet. Where 2 crossed swords, tower and sword and shield simbols are on right.
Mayor problem is that elite specializations covered a lot of weaknesses of classes and as such groups do not require perfect compositions anymore(better for zergs),
a lot more damage seems to be floating around, eather that is becouse of easy boons or new skills,
people have gotten better (guilds did get better-i guess, but quality of pugs has increased dramaticly-remember the days people were using rare armor and some were upleveled),
or the worst case scenario, a good famous commander on an offensive borderland with a bunch of veteran (ex)guild players and 40% guardians(they will just go thourg everything in 1 push).
I don’t know, but this theme realy fits Mesmer better, atleast as i see it.
Question: In a non-queue situation.
- Would you rather have someone play Ranger and stay in the back and be somewhat helpful; at least they provide damage?
- Or get on a Guardian, which they are bad at, and get in the front line and not really be any good there, perhaps even hurting the team by not doing what is needed?
- Or would you rather have them log off and not play at all?
Go on guardian, eventualy you will learn how to play it and be usefull.
Yea, found out yesterday, when i was NPCs in EBG, and it hit like wet noodles. Not that it ever acctuly hit hard.
If server is full it realy is full, becouse it has to many people.
To play with your friends, you can transfer lower, since i don’t think overstacked servers will be getting open any time soon.
I’m not a PvE player, but since there weren’t any replies i guess i can lighten up the situation.
Mesmer(chronomancer) currently has lowest DPS in pve, but it offers great buffs(alacrity and quickness). It is pretty sought after class for raids, since it is pretty hard to play when compared to other classes.
As for dungeons and fractals. In dungeons you can pretty much play any kind of build and do it. For lower level fractals build doesn’t matter, for higher level, i can not comment, since i never got very high.
As for general tips: Get chronomaner to be viable.
EDIT: You might want to ask on reedit, since it is more active than mesmer subforum.
I am sorry, but can you imagine using this instead of arrow carts to defend a keep. Also goodbye rams. Yea it could be used offensivly, but introducing more powerful siege into the game is just not the answer.
Scepter 3 takes 2s to cast. Auto attack is bad, and scepter 2 is defensive skill.
If you use Scepter 3 and sword 5 or focus 5. What do you do for next 7s, until weapon swap? AA on scepter? You said yourself it is bad.
Well don’t use them than. I tend to not use them.
Nah, i don’t feel like going through all characters and putting all masteries to max.
Do you know about Gandara site? Many more (Gandarans) would see the message there http://gankdara.com/
Also ty, we try to keep stable and friendly comunity.
They didn’t add scoring changes yet, only change was 15 min timer to 5 min and adjusting ticks for this. There should be activity levels, skirmishes,… which are not implemented yet.
Condi is good for roaming. For group fights you want power, but to play a viable build in a viable way, you have to be a great mesmer. It probably still is(and it certainly was) the hardest proffesion to play in WvW group play. I can tell you, look into boonshare or boonrip/cc builds, ofc you can always play focus, but currently i feel like thiefs are way more viable. Note: Mesmer is way more viable in preconstructed groups.
Good luck persuading any guild mesmer to reveal their builds, many have tried, many have failed. It might sound harsh, but it’s reality of the situation.
Also you might learn something from videos like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8q2zZYxWTA&list=LLtGII1hTfIOeuvx55rtLpjw&index=1
Ugh not this again…
If you can start a kickstarter to delete the Atlantic Ocean and create a machine that can reverse plate tectonics, then sure, let’s go ahead with that idea.
Lol what? This idea pretty straight forward and simple. If they link NA servers then there must be a way for them to link EU+NA servers
Do you know there is atleast 250ms ping for connections going from EU to NA and vice-versa. It can’t be resolved becouse of physical distance. At least with todays tehnology and budget.
It feels so good. Hearing PvE kittens complaining.
Oh man you don’t know what a strugle map completion was, getting 500 currency from dungeons, going to that kodan to get icy runestones and above all collection so much gold i nerly quit playing the game. Every moment i’m in PvE is agony.
Lets remove PvE content from Legendary crafting, i can’t take it.
Btw, this change has been talked about for a few months, especialy after reward tracks came out.
There is + 5 aura (+ 5 carriable supply), which is very important for all objectives. There are others for all stats +100.
I would also like some indicator as to what was done while i was up and what after i was downed, in addition to what was proposed in OP.
These polls are better than our national election.
Which i don’t go to, since noone deserves my vote.
If Arcane Thievery were AoE around its target, would people use it then?
On same cooldown? It would be so OP. Imagine mesmer using it on aproaching melee and posibly striping stability/protection/resistance, along with applying itself up to 15 boons and than even sharing all of that. I’m talking about WvW ofc.
As for towers being more strategic. Try trebing Garrison from Northern towers, or Bay from briar. Also Garrison can treb Northern towers, Hills can treb Lake.
In addition to that, you can treb Bay from Vale(including inner wall), Northeast tower from NE camp, Hills from NE camp, Hills from Lake(was never used much). All of which are pretty protected locations with source of supply nearby.
Garrison is realy hard to capture from south, since you can have ACs on unhitable locations, but capturing a tower and building a treb, magicly makes defenders abandon outer defenses or come out to play.
General idea is that you put all that NEED stability in guardians parties first. Having necros in frontline parties can increase presure, since they will most likely have 25 might. Having tempests in frontline can increase sustain, as well with druids. But yea it’s realy dependant on builds. Any frontliner (class) has atleast 1 midline build and every backline (class) has 1 aswell.
Squad A:
Party 1(commander party):
G(commander), G, G, W, R
Party 2(melee party 1):
G,G,W,R,N
Party 3, 4 (ranged party 1, 2):
N,N,E,E,E
Squad B:
Party 1(commander party):
G(commander), G, W, W, R
Party 2, 3, 4, 5(melee party 1, 2, 3, 4):
G,G,W, W, R
Party 6(ranged party 1):
N,N,E,E,E
Party 7(ranged party 2):
N,N,N,E,E
Or if you want ranged revenants and with that more ranged presure you can switch all necros with revenants.
Squad C:
Stop playing and cry yourself to sleep, as your composition sucks. Also pirateship like hell.
But yea probably this is best you can do:
G,G,W,W,R
R,E,E,N,N
4X E,E,N,N
Edit: Thiefs tend to go to their own subsquad so they can target opponents, unless their using venshare, in which case put them with necros, but bevare of enemies rage.
(edited by SloRules.3560)
1. I would definetly want a mesmer without freaking illusions that just die all the time, just let them add to some resource instead. Beside that hammer frontliner with good mobility, next to no or absolutly none passive damage reduction but a lot of tricks more distortion and some sustained damage, low cooldowns on weapons and aoe, i would so like some weapon skill to not require a target.
2. No illusions. MH pistol. Chaos theme, warping space as opposed to time(you shot at opponent and he gets hit in the back, another blink like skill). Punishing enemies on whatever they do(enemy choses his own punishment)(if you move you lose health, if you cast something your allies are interupted, if you dont cast anything your next cooldown is +20, if your standing still damage you do is halfed,…) Maby these could be bound to f1-f4/f5 keys
3.No illusion. f keys add pasive effects for a period of time depending on how much resouce(illusions that are just resource not acctuly summoned) you have. Also pulsing to allies for the time its acctivated(maby a trait option). F5 some kind of form skill similar to that of necro, just that you are wearing like a suit of phantasm armor. While in this form you can perform skills that phantasms normaly have + detonate your suit.
Sry for bad language and lack of formating, but this was just some basic brainstorming.
Hoppefully i got my idea through, NO ILLUSIONS.
I run realy effective boonshare build that provides something like 90% uptime on quickness, provided that i dont kitten up. Guild seems pretty satisfied with it.
Boonsharing with only “normal boons” is useless. Have an f2 rev up at all time. Quickness stacks up to 9 times. Time your boonshare with whole party for aditional benefit. Best of luck, maby someone will share a build, though many treads have been made without results.
I’d take domination instead of chaos for signet trait. I think boonshare is very viable, you just have to watch your timings to maximize potential, also 5 man subsquad made around boonshare(or with boonshare in mind) helps a lot.
