The reason for charging 7 tickets isn’t to make maximum profit (though that probably is an added bonus for them), but rather to keep a rare item rare. The cheaper it is, the more people will buy it. The higher numbers bought, the cheaper it is to buy with gold. That’s why when new weapons have been released they have been 1 ticket as opposed to 5, to give them off in abundance first then cut back the numbers drastically (keeping it rare, but not making it extinct).

Assuming they will cost the same amount as they did when previously available (like all other items released in the sale so far), it will be 1 for 125 gems or 5 for 500 gems. Remember though the dye kits are NOT guaranteed to drop one of the exotic Flame & Frost dyes, it’s about a 5% chance per kit opened to get one of the few based on players research.

Remove account bound on fractal weapons too!

I’ve done over 300 fractals according to my achievements, and I only just got the fractal weapon I wanted last week. I’m sick of everything in this game being able to be sold. The fractal set of skins are amongst very few in game that shows that people have put in time to get it and not just farmed CoF P1 or champions to buy them. >.>

Infinite Watchknight Tonic Cooldown

If they are worried people will just stay in the Watchknight form the entire time, it would be better to make it 10 minutes in the tonic with a 5 minute cooldown. For the people who actually want to play around in the tonic (like myself), this gives us plenty of time. For those who are always wearing the tonic, hopefully the 5 minute cooldown will put them off having to constantly select it. I honestly feel like 5 minutes with a 25 minute cooldown is ridiculous – I can barely even use it. I’d rather not be able to fight in the tonic form if it meant I could play as a Watchknight for longer.

The Queen's Speech Theory

This is purely a theory based on my evaluations of the living story so far and my own speculation. Take from it what you will.


In an interview between IGN and Guild Wars 2 developers it is stated that this update is going to tie together the past living story plots into a single knot. Colin Johanson states that “it’s a story that really affects the entire world and permanently creates content and change for the entire world game-wide.”

The living story so far (minus traditional holiday events) includes the Karka/Consortium, the Molten Alliance, the Aetherblades and the Zephyrites. All of these events had seemingly insignificant lore, but by putting them together we can start to draw a picture with the little information we’ve been given.

I’ve looked back at the events from the past year and have compiled this theory. In particular I will focus on the Molten Alliance, Aetherblades and Zephyrites.


The Molten Alliance:

- Flame Legion and Dredge form an alliance.
- Attacks lead from the north (invasions of Ascalon/Shiverpeaks).
- Alliance formed by an unknown “silver tongued city dweller”.

Above the regions which were invaded lies the Charr Homelands. In 1320 AE, the elder dragon Kralkatorrik awoke from this very spot and flew south over Ascalon into the Crystal Desert to hunt down Glint (one of it’s former champions who betrayed it). During this event the Dragonbrand was created, which turned all forms of life into Branded.

If the Branded grew too powerful to the north, it could have provoked the Molten Alliance to push south in hopes of escaping the terrors and colonising a new area free of Kralkatorrik’s corruption.

The Aetherblades:

- Lead by their captain, Mai Trin.
- Mysterious figure known as ‘Scarlet’.
- Weaponry a direct result of Inquest backing.
- Captain’s Council member killed by a member of the Molten Alliance, an election would be held to find a replacement.

Like the Molten Alliance, the Aetherblades have a mysterious figure working behind the scenes. The Aetherblades also assassinated one of the members of the Captain’s Council which left an opening for a new member, which their captain Mai Trin intended to take.

Instead, Ellen Kiel won this election, and as a campaign promise she announces fractal research into the explosion of an Inquest lab. What is interesting is that the Inquest are confirmed to be backing the Aetherblades by supplying weaponry. We also know they are working on harvesting the magic of elder dragons and are currently preparing a lab to test a minion of the Deep Sea Dragon.

The overarching goal of the Aetherblades in this plot was to gain a seat on the Captain’s Council, and when the plan is foiled Mail Trin is overheard saying that ‘Scarlet’ would not be pleased. This suggests that Scarlet had an unknown motive behind gaining a seat on the Captain’s Council, and is most likely linked to the Inquest and possibly their research into the elder dragons.

The Zephyrites:

- Zephyrite emphasis on Glint, mourning of her death.
- Replacements for the “Brotherhood of the Dragon” who guarded Glint in GW1.
- Emphasis on crystals (Kralkatorrik is the crystal elder dragon).

Based purely on theory and speculation, it is highly like that the Zephyrites (consisting of humans) overtook the role of the “protectors of heritage” from the Brotherhood of the Dragon (consisting of dwarves). We also know that Glint had dragon eggs in GW1, and it is said that a fragment from Glint was left behind. Perhaps this fragment was the egg, and the heritage is one of Glint’s offspring. This would mean that the Zephyrites are guarding one of Kralkatorrik’s offspring and may hold the power which was given to other champions of the elder dragon.

The Zephyrites are also heavily focussed on crystals and studying powerful magics. As Kralkatorrik is the elder dragon of crystals, and the Branded are crystalline creatures, the crystals used for Zephyrite magic most likely comes from Glint’s offspring or magic harvested from Kralkatorrik.


All of these plot lines are very loosely related, but from all of them you can derive relations to the elder dragons, and specifically Kralkatorrik. Now to link it back to what the developers told IGN about this upcoming release, the new content will pave the way for more permanent content in GW2. Based on the past living story content, it is likely that the following year will see the release of the Charr Homelands and the Crystal Desert, but mainly the progression of the storyline as we hunt for Kralkatorrik.

[WvW] Siege Lock

Since yesterday’s patch, Dragonbrand, along with other servers, has experienced a bug preventing us to place any siege, which our server has dubbed a “Siege Lock”. I was offline at the time, but from information I’ve gathered it started only being locked in FABL, then a few hours later EB, FABL’s siege lock was then lifted, and then all three borderlands were locked (FABL, TCBL and DBBL). We’ve tested it out, and we can manage to place about three rams in the map at a time. I haven’t looked into numbers for other siege, but it appears to be the same. Either way, we’re basically always unable to place any siege in any of our maps. The exception to this, however, is Golems. I assume they aren’t bound by a siege cap and therefore aren’t Siege Locked with the rest. It has made for an eventful day, playing around with golem tactics, but we do all miss our other siege.

Solution to RNG skin issue

Or just don’t make them soulbound/account bound. If I really want a skin, I would rather spend 50g in game than waste $100 of my real money and get nothing. If people want to spend real money to grind for the weapon skins to keep or sell, that’s fine, but at least give those who don’t want to waste real money a chance. :/

Crucial WvW Sunnyhill Bug (Green Borderlands)

Tonight I was running with a group on Jade Quarry Borderlands and we were going for Sunnyhill tower to the west of Garrison. We set up three regular rams at the gate, and were tapping away at the door with AoE and DPS. When using sprint skills such as “Burning Speed” (Main-Hand Dagger, Elementalist) people would bounce through the door. This bug however is not unique to the Elementalist, is it occurred to players of other professions who used similar types of sprint skills.

New Infusions Suggestion

This is a pretty simply idea, but I think it would be incredibly useful for a lot of players. Here is a small list of infusions I think should be added for Ascended Gear:


Offensive (Basic) – Condition Duration: +5%
Offensive (Fine) – Condition Duration: +5% | Agony: +5

Offensive (Basic) – Critical Damage: +5%
Offensive (Fine) – Critical Damage: +5% | Agony: +5

Defensive (Basic) – Condition Duration: -5%
Defensive (Fine) – Condition Duration: -5% | Agony: +5

Defensive (Basic) – Boon Duration: +5%
Defensive (Fine) – Boon Duration: +5% | Agony: +5


As a frequent WvW player, the most invaluable infusion to me would be a Condition Duration Infusion with -5%. If a ‘Bowl of Lemongrass Poultry Soup’ can give -40% Condition Duration, then I don’t believe this infusion would cause an imbalance. A wider range of infusions will allow players to create a more unique character and give a wider range of options as to how a person builds and players the game.

So... When are Guild Wars coming?

All they really have to do is modify the WvW system. It would be pretty simple. Make a smaller WvW map about 2/3’s the size of Eternal Battlegrounds, one half for one guild, the other half for the other. It would run exactly the same as WvW with the same siege and such. The games could run for a few hours each, last until a keep at one end of the map is captured by the enemy, or until all points are captured by a single guild. I honestly don’t know why such a feature already isn’t implemented, as already said, it is called Guild Wars.

SoS Vs JQ Vs BG 18/01-25/01

If you had posted a month ago BG would move to T1 and fight JQ with PRX, Redguard, SF, and others along with SOS with ND and the other new additions and asked for a score prediction the answers would have been almost comical.

LOL yeah probably so.

Still, when BG drops to T2 it will be because SOR is fighting a dead and gone server (SBI) and picking up a lot of rating. Much like when BG fought HOD and ET, only not as extreme as TC is still a solid server.

If SOR picks up enough rating next week BG will move down just in time for some tougher competition to arrive. I personally think SOR is going to get squashed a lot harder than BG is, but that won’t stop them from hanging in the tier for a lot longer than they should if that is truly how it shakes out.

I think SoR may surprise a lot of people. They definitely play hard, and they finally picked up some off hour coverage to at least not get fully PvDoored all night long. Still, I guess we’ll have our answers when the inevitable comes to pass.

BG won’t have a declining server to blow out and get a big rating jump from, but we didn’t this time around either. Still, it took a struggling SBI server to open the T1 door after 2 months in T2. I guess it really boils down to the coverage of whoever the new T2 servers are going to be, and of course how SoR scores in T1. By the looks of things, it’s going to be Maguuma and Kaineng.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m fairly sure that SoR picked up several guilds from SBI as their server dropped out of tier 1 and started to die. If that’s the case, they’ve probably got the powerhouse guilds from SoR and SBI combined and that could make a huge blow into tier 1. I definitely agree that if/when they reach tier 1 they will surprise a lot of people.

Paid Transfers & WvW

With free server transfers coming to an end, nobody seems to be concerned about its possible impact on WvW. From what I’ve noticed, when servers loose in WvW and drop a tier or two, people seem to find quitting easier than admitting defeat. When people start to quit fighting in WvW it reflects clearly as the server starts to drop through the tiers and WvW-focused guilds disappear from the activity.

Since the start of GW2 guilds which focus on WvW and have a passion for the activity tend to jump their sinking ships and move to servers in higher tiers in hope of finding more competition. But now that free transfers are ending, I doubt guilds are going to be able to easily jump servers if their world starts to loose interest in WvW.

My greatest concern is what I’ve been observing the past week since the announce that free transfers will be ending. Many guilds from lower tiers have been quickly transferring to tier 1 and tier 2 servers since they want to be stuck in good competition. Many WvW guilds have hopped to Jade Quarry particularly, as well as a few to Sea of Sorrows and Blackgate. As Stormbluff Isle fell from tier 1 in the last few weeks, many of its powerhouse WvW guilds have transferred over to Sanctum of Rall, joining their numerous guilds already there.

Once paid transfers are bought into play, the location of these WvW guilds will be set in stone. Sanctum of Rall is going to remain with the combined forces of Stormbluff Isle and Sanctum of Rall, as will all the other servers with their guilds transfers.

This frightens me because by the look of things, within the next few weeks its possible that Blackgate will fall from tier 1 and be replaced by SoR. If that happens, its possible that some of our smaller guilds might loose motivation and drop in activity. Same with other guilds in the same situation in other tiers. If activity drops, it sets off a chain reaction and the rest of the server suffers with it.

My concern also lies with lower tiered servers. If most players on the server are PvE focused, and WvW guilds can’t jump to their server, then it will remain a dead activity for them. As well, if it’s just one guild in WvW fighting every week and they keep getting defeated, not many new players will have motivation to join them.

In the past these guilds who have no place for WvW on their server would simply jump ship to a new world which enjoys the activity. For NA, this may only be the top two or three tiers (6 – 9 servers). If players in lower tiers can’t move themselves or their guild to these few servers with a passion for WvW, they really have no hope at all. As time progresses, it may narrow down to the point where the three top servers are still motivated, and WvW will probably loose all motivation on other servers as they stand no chance of every moving up.

I think something definitely needs to be done about this. All of what I’ve said is just my opinion, but from what I’ve seen in the past 6 or 7 months since the start of GW2 the removal of free transfers may have a huge negative impact on WvW.

I don’t really know how to counter this, but something like a “Guild Transfer” feature may be a simple solution. Basically if the guild wanted to jump servers they would pay a fee of maybe 50 – 100 gold, and for an entire week players in that guild would be able to freely move to the designated server without each member having to spend real money on purchasing gems.

That’s just one idea, but I really think more thought needs to be put into this updates possible impact on WvW.

I’ll be moving houses tomorrow, and I don’t know if I’ll have internet for a few days. I know I won’t be able to witness the events in their original locations since the ship will be moving around, but will there be opportunities to get rewards after the event occurs? If so, when and for how long will there be an opportunity to get the rewards.

Weapon Swapping for Elementalists & Engineers

Out of all eight professions in Guild Wars 2, the only two have been deprived of the ability of weapon swapping are Elementalists and Engineers. As many of you may already know, the reasoning behind this is the fact that Elementalists can swap between attunements and Engineers can swap between kits. As an Elementalist though, I feel that during combat as soon as the enemy reaches you in sPvP, WvW or dungeons that all hope is lost.

A profession such as the Guardians, who can swap between weapons during combat like many others, they can swap between melee and ranged weapons. So at a distance they can fight, and when the enemy reaches them, they can swap to melee and defend themselves. Again with Warriors, who also can swap between weapons, they can have a greatsword in one slot and a rifle in another, so as with the Guardian they can fight from a distance and up close.

Even though Elementlists and Engineers can switch between attunements and weapon kits respectively, I feel as though I don’t stand a chance when the enemy gets close (at least as an Elementalist anyway). If Elementalists could swap between weapons, we could use staves from a distance and when the enemy gets close we could switch to something such as Dagger/Dagger to assist ourselves with up close combat. This wouldn’t put Elementalists at any more of an advantage, since we still would get hit just as easily, and do similar amounts of damage, though with close range skills we would have greater ability to move around, evade and deal close range attacks.

I am open to reasons for and against this and will enjoy the discussion if anybody has anything to say. If not, I hope this is taken into consideration as I genuinely feel that these two professions have a huge disadvantage without weapon swapping.

sPvP Shortcut/Binding

This suggestion is incredibly simple and I’m unsure why it isn’t implemented. For those who don’t know what I mean by shortcut or binding, I mean the key on your keyboard that you can press to open up certain interfaces. For example, pressing ‘M’ to open the map, ‘O’ to open the trading post, ‘I’ to open your inventory, etc. I simply propose that in the control options ArenaNet adds a space to bind a key to open the sPvP window. If we can bind keys to our mailbox, WvW and other interfaces, I don’t know why sPvP shouldn’t have the option to have it as well.

Epic lag during middle of the event

I’ve had that much time in the down state without being able to use waypoints or resurrect since GW2 thinks I’m still in combat that I’ve been able to test some things. It takes exactly 4 minutes 23 seconds for a public message to go through. For some reason though guild chat is instant. I don’t know whether I should laugh at this fail, or be super pissed off that I’ve been wasting my time for the two and a half hours. O_o

It is possible for mesmers to hide inside a tower while it is being captured and when everybody leaves simply link a portal from the inside to the outside. It’s easy to do, and if the other team isn’t smart enough to do a quick sweep of the tower before they live, then it’s their loss. The idea is used by many guilds and servers and it isn’t bug abuse.

If however they are somehow getting inside without having anybody there in the first place, then it is a bug abuse. But as far as I know there isn’t a way to do this since it was patched a week or so after the game went live. More information would have to be provided if you wanted ArenaNet to look into this further.

Guild Wars 2 Client Crash

As many of you know, since the last patch update, many people have been experiencing the client crash regularly. Several people on my server, Blackgate, have figured out that if you change the framerate to 30FPS it will usually fix this crash. It worked for me and I didn’t get any crashing for a while. But now a few hours since the last crash it is getting slightly worse (for me anyway).

Not to long ago my client crashed and I received this error message:

I started up the client again, and got back to playing WvW. Five minutes later though it crashed again and my anti-virus popped up saying that the Guild Wars 2 client was a potential threat to my computer and asked my permission to remove it. Of course I denied that option, since I know other people are experiencing this, and I completely trust ArenaNet, but simply the idea of all these crashes and no response from ArenaNet about it at all so far is quite unpleasant.

Is anybody else experiencing similar problems? If so, have you or anybody you know of found any more permanent fixes?

If you hover over the map you are given from Bingg, it says “Hendo’s Trading Post”. This is a location somewhere on Tyria which is where Noll can be found. Open the spoiler tag below for a quick guide with specifics if you don’t want to find it for yourself.


Hendo’s Trading Post is located in Caledon Forest. It is closest to ‘Caledon Haven Waypoint’ which is further up in Caledon Forest on the map (about two thirds from the bottom end).

There is a short boss fight, but it isn’t too hard if you have a number of people. Still not too sure what to do afterwards, but I’ll keep you all updated.

'Free-For-All' PvP Mode

It’s undeniable that sPvP and WvW are both great additions to Guild Wars 2, but some players may be looking for more of a challenge where they can prove their skill on their own, without a team. My suggestions is that ANet introduces a medium to large PvP map where players can attack anybody (I’ll refer to this as free-for-all, or FFA).

In this form of PvP, which would be separate sPvP and WvW, players will be able to attack anybody, even within their party or guild. Guild tags wouldn’t show in FFA to stop guilds from plunging through the map and turning it into a mass guild war. So you would have to be careful who you trust. Squads would also be disabled to stop commanders from rallying up mass groups. Parties would still be available to everybody, but there won’t be any protection to stop party members from turning on each other.

When inside FFA PvP all players would be scaled up to level 80. There are two options for armour and weapons, which is either have the weapons/armour used in sPvP, or the weapons/armour that is used throughout Tyria (PvE) and WvW. The latter would give FFA a great sense of achievement and worth to your characters build since everything has been pieced together in the game to define your character and playing style. However, using the weapons/armour from sPvP would give all players equal opportunity and would make this mode of PvP more skill-based since everybody has access to the same equipment. This decision would also define which level would be used, your sPvP level or Tyria (PvE) level, or another separate level altogether.

For killing other players you would earn some kind of kill points, and occasionally loot bags dropped at your feet like in WvW. These kill points would accumulate like glory and could be spent on various rewards such as equipment skins. Another alternative for this could be a staking system, where players could place a bounty on their heads and the person who kills them receives that bounty. The bounty would most likely be a sum of money, with a minimum requirement of several silver.

That’s pretty much my idea… If anybody has an feedback or suggestions for this idea please post them and I’ll try to read through all of them if possible.

The one time event, and how i'm not gonna be in it

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure the first two parts of the event on Friday and Saturday will be running all day, and the final part on Sunday will be running for several hours at least. Plus even if you can’t attend the finale, I doubt you’ll be missing too much. It’s just going to be a boss fight which I’m sure won’t drop anything exclusive to this one-time event. If it does drop something rare though, I think they’ll put it on the trading post at least.

WvW Puzzle Glitch: Hidden Cavern

When you first enter the puzzle you appear on your teams platform (which in my case, is the red teams platform).

If you then walk into that place where my party member was standing, you’ll find a small little cove which looks something like this. Please note that the appearance will change slightly as you rotate the camera since it’s quite glitchy.

If you walk a few steps further into this area, you’ll drop down into a little hidden cavern.

Once you fall into the cavern, there is no way out. So the only way to escape is by teleporting back to a waypoint or by logging out and in. It’s also probably good to note that even though from the cavern you can see a supply camp right next to you (which can’t be seen in the image) you cannot take any supplies from the camp for bug abuse.

I finished both the scavenger hunts for the two variations of Mad Memoires. I did the Pumpkin Carving event, but for the last 30 pumpkins I had a little help from the internet. The Clock Tower was a huge challenge, but after about four hours of many failed attempts I’ve finally mastered it. The Mad King Dungeon was extremely easy, I’ve done that many times already. Over the past week I’ve collected close to 1,000 Candy Corn, so that wasn’t too hard at all. Best advice I can give is just mine every candy corn vein you see in the game and participate in everything to do with Halloween. The achievement for opening Trick-or-Treat bags was quite simple, considering you get multiple bags at the end of the Mad King Dungeon as well as an uncommon drop from mining Candy Corn and killing NPC’s. And finally (unless I missed something), completing 10 Halloween events can be done in less than half an hour. All you do is walk around an area like Queensdale looking for unopened doors.

So honestly, you really have nothing to complain about. Plenty of people have managed to complete all of the events that Halloween has to offer, and you’ve had over a week to complete it all, so I don’t understand what’s bad about this.

I don’t know if they’ve confirmed this or not, but I would assume so. Act IV of the Halloween event won’t be released for roughly another 6 – 8 hours, so you have plenty of time.

This thread is a lament on ANet’s choice of achievements for the holiday event — specifically an achievement that’s:

1. Dependent upon client/server latency
2. Cannot be incrementally progressed

It’s a worthy topic because achievements are a serious goal for many players.

What are you talking about? You don’t even need to finish the puzzle for the achievement. You just need to attempt it.

The Clock Tower Jumping Puzzle is a challenge, so challenge yourself. If ArenaNet created all the content for the event to be easy, people would play through it once and be done with it. That’s exactly how the scavenger hunts for the Mad Memoires book went down. There is a nice enjoyable hunt, but nobody would try it more than once. The Clock Tower is something that if people want to challenge themselves and attempt it, they can. If you don’t succeed, who cares? You can get get the boots other ways (such as killing the Mad King or buying them on the Trading Post). It took me a little over 3 hours to finish the Clock Tower for the first time, but after that I can now do it easily. It just takes practice. Some people do it first go, others could try all day and still not get it. As I’ve already said, it’s an optional challenge with alternative ways to get the rewards, so if you’re up for it just challenge yourself and have fun.

Hey again. Just found out that you won’t be able to see Serene in overflow worlds, or in worlds where there is too many people surrounding the area. I switched to a less populated server and it worked perfectly for me.

Devil Horns

Not sure what happened, but the Devil Horns aren’t in the Gem Story any more. Some people are saying they are completely sold out, but ArenaNet said they would be available until November 6th. So what’s happening? Because it would be ridiculous if they were sold out, especially since when Australians finished school they were already gone.

Assault on Ascalon Settlement [Incompletable!]

Location: Guardian’s Pass (next to the Stoneguard Gate Waypoint)

The world event, “Assault on Ascalon Settlement”, is incompletable because the NPC which you are supposed to return the catapult parts too is missing. I don’t know exactly how long the events been running for, but it must be at least an hour or two now.

If you’re account was hacked, then you should have an email in your inbox saying that somebody tried to login from another IP and you would have had to approve the IP for them to login. So basically, if you were hacked your email might have been hacked along with it. Probably a good idea to change both them passwords.

Otherwise you may have broken a rule without realising it and therefore you might not be able to get the permanent ban lifted.
