The reason for the “high” cost is to stop people from jumping between servers every week.
I know not all servers have a high WvW population/focus, but the transfer fee system took WvW into consideration. If transfers were still free people would be jumping ship to the winning server each match-up.
I also understand that it’s to keep people from jumping servers to complete PvE activities more than once per day (or something like that, I don’t play PvE much).
That said, I think WvW population should be taken into account when determining the transfer fee to join a server.
You can PvE on any server for free through the guesting system.
Don’t we have enough sample size by now to say that this matchup system is still terrible.
+1 … It’s getting as bad as the last match up system. There are some servers that are simply not supposed to be pitted against one another. Some realistic cut offs based on WvW population would be nice.
I wish everyone who answers here support their “claims” with an official link. I am also curious how a server gets a “High Population” where I don’t see much people other than on LA, Queensdale, DR and Frostgorge.
Sorry, I’m going to put on my tin foil hat and say that it’s about making it cost massive $$ for xfers. If I wanted to go to a less populated server for let’s say… wvw… I’d have to pay 80 gold unless I go to tier 8. I’ve guested all over and someone has gone to servers such as this and they tell me they’re ghost towns. There’s no incentive and being greedy is just hurting your game.

I know quite a few that have moved down because of skill lag etc. and the xfer cost def does help them choose where to go, but no one wants to get stomped week in and week out
It would have been interesting had anet done the free xfers over more than just a weekend and based on WvW population instead of general population
Even if they don’t go the free xfer route they could just lower prices and see how that works because they haven’t been stable for a while
They need to even the playing field for xfers. Right now an xfer to a t6-7 server costs almost as much as to a t3 who wants to pay to play on a losing team? Give them some incentive and stop being so greedy anet it’s killing your game.
I agree it would make sense though that they would release the information on what gives a server it’s population and how that ties in to xfer costs… there’s a lot of smoke and mirrors here and some of the servers that aren’t doing so hot can’t get the xfers they need because it costs just as much as let’s say a t3 server to move to.
We all know world population =/= wvw population and we can all guest for free for pve… so, is it truly fair to tether pve population to transfer costs when the only real reason to xfer is wvw?It seems like it’s hurting the lower tiers. I ask because I see tons of issues with the cost of moving. Also, what exactly puts a server into “high” population? I’m seeing pretty much every server at high although some of these servers are ghost towns right now. So what’s the cut off?
Once again in case you missed it. Close to even numbers (check dead bodies after rendering). You built siege after agreed not to. /classy emote at the end… and 3 people out of our zerg have armor
GH GF and random roaming warrior I have had good duels with all of you and we’ve talked about builds and such in game.
Otherwise, when you say we only beat disorganized zergs the zerg we beat in this video has the same guild tag… which is oddly similar to the guild tags talking smack on this forum from ebay.

Not my video but we’re going for comedic value so I borrowed this one. So, granted some people will mess up their rotations or screw up and lose a 1v1… but I have to ask, are you guys coming here to post each time you kill us like some kind of trophy moment? If so, then we must really be getting under your skin, and in that case I’ll take it as a huge compliment.

I hate to be the one to remind you of this, but FTF got rolled by KWBH outside of SBI Garrison. That in itself is nothing; it happens all the time. What’s interesting is that it was our training night, 1/3 of the group was uplevels who’d never been in WvW before, and not a single one of us was wearing armor. But the best part is that after some of you ran away from us and into Garrison, you built arrow carts and began firing on us. I don’t know how you can be this bad, and still come to the forums with a claim that no other guild has challenged you. The only way for us to make it more challenging would be to unequip our weapons as well. Let me know if you’re interested so we can record that one too.
Actually we had 3 people armored! I can’t believe it! I’m gonna have a talk with those guys because being in armor against FTF is unacceptable.
We set the fight up. We talked in /w then you gathered. It was supposed to be ZvZ with your 15-20 vs ours. First thing you do against a naked zerg is set up an open field AC (@59 seconds). Too bad you didn’t get to use it… then you set down more on the garrison walls… still wiped

Rl stuff kept me out of the game this week but last week was one of the best wvw match ups I have been a part of. Your server lacked the coverage ours did, but what you lacked in coverage you made up with in tenacity. We had some of your bls queued and you’d defend every tower like it was the last tower you guys owned (bp as well although we did not fight you as often) and that was awesome. I’ll have to say I regret not being on your side when we decided to move and instead having to fight you guys.
CD, please fight my 25 man when you have 40. What is wrong with you?
Also, KWBH, not engaging in open field because you don’t have any supply for AC’s is no excuse.
We had plenty of open fields like at the NE camp then around the south with both you guys and yaks. At the garrison you had a blob twice our size (what was it burn + pyro and some other guilds… goat maybe?) so we put down one ac (didn’t matter just rolled in because there were enough of you to cause skill lag). You had an AC taking our treb @ redbriar so we built a ballista…so idk what you’re talking about there either …
if we hit hard enough to make you think we’re setting down acs every fight I’ll take it as a compliment tbh and as far as not engaging yeah we’re not gonna run at you not stacked or separated or when considerably outmatched :p we did that once @ hills (staggered =/= not fun)
Otherwise good fights all around we had a great time fighting your guild and the other mag guilds as well as yaks guilds that were out there… even when we were getting sandwiched a lot of the time haha
on a positive note, repairs were free for most of the night

Did SBI lose more than one large guild? It’s a ghost town on your bl and it’s pretty much pvdoor tonight. I feel for you guys…and I hope you land some fights that are both fun and exciting for you.
As someone who fought SoS (only for a short while), I can tell you they seemed pretty okay on the forums as well as respectful on the field. They have the oceanic as evidenced by our bls being painted their color every morning, but they have a weaker NA.
CD you just had to use your Keep trebs in EB to take out our treb at the cliff…
We were trying to treb the same spot on SMC as you!!
So yah thats why FA went over there and AOE’d down your trebs/mortars/arrow carts. And then we took Mendons etc…

We were there and we ran in behind you at SMC and tried to wipe both groups with our small group (skill lag roflpwned us though)… honestly, I live for those kinds of fights and would do it again in a heartbeat. That’s why we kept luring you to your camp even though we knew your zerg was a lot larger than our ~23 people. Poking the bear is kind of my thing… it doesn’t always work out but it beats rolling over everything with a large mindless zerg. Call it nostalgia from being outmanned on ET for 2-3 months.
So, is there any plan to fix the ridiculous skill lag @ stonemist when there’s a three way fight or large zergs clashing? Honestly, all you can do is spam 1 and hope it goes off once in a while… can’t heal… can’t get boons up… honestly can’t do anything except, like I said, mindlessly spam 1.
So… you’re leading a large guild which you’re splitting, and from that large guild you can’t find anyone you like/trust/respect enough to co-lead with you? No officers?
Another point since you piped in here Gismor, I know for a fact you want to make a difference on CD, it’s obvious and you’ve made it a goal. Know this though Gismor, we are not from where you came from, we’re not all like you and yours and what you’re trying to build. We don’t all want to be on TS3, some don’t want to hear a kitten thing beyond game sounds. Know this though, CD folks do watch keeps, do watch towers, do run dolyaks. CD folks may be “weak underdogs” because of our lower “tier”, but we do refresh siege and set it as we can, and people do sit like kittenes, or dedicated folks to a stupid game, at towers and keeps like any other server.
Yes, I have some animosity in a way and I should say it to you Gismor. You came from what? TC? You expected another group of players and another server to instantly accept you? To accept your style of play and dedication instantly because you came from a “higher” place? Nothing works that way unfortunatly, and I’m sure it’s been kitten you that folks haven’t bowed beneath your superior suggestions.
That all said Gismor, I think you’re getting it. You’re spending alot more time now “sleeping” in towers or spawns because you’re bored that folks aren’t getting “IT”. You chose to come to CD, and we’re not too kitten bad, but if you want to be number 1 then you’re quite a long ways from that and you need to move man. We have shown, vs at least 7 to 1 odds for many weeks now, we still do try. If ya wanna “win” go join the team that has the most numbers.
I never said I was better than everyone. If everyone doesn’t wanna get on TS3, then so be it. Those that join me I expect to get up to the level that EK is trying to achieve. I don’t expect to be accepted, either it happens or it doesn’t.
By the way, I came from BG, get your facts right please.
And also, sorry that I’m just trying to help the server against T2 servers, guess I’ll just keep to myself and play for myself.
Next time, if you want to complain, do it to me, no need to make it public, makes the server seem like we’re fighting amongst ourselves.

total garbage… they 4/5 games someone on one team or another leaves midway through – why don’t you have something that makes them unable to play in tournament matches for 24 hours after they leave?

hey yaks guild [ai] if you’re reading this, this morning around 4-5am was one of the best small group roaming fights I’ve had in a long long time … I was the guard with the legendary gs
That were epic camp fights – one of the fights lasted for a good 5-10 minutes
thanks for all the gvgs everyone, sorry CERN we couldn’t get enough people together … we can try before reset again but with the match up it’s hard to get anyone to step into wvw and harder to get them to stay
boring match? quaggan tag! everyone gets a quaggan tonic and one transforms into an ember – whoever he catches also turns into an ember eventually until there is one person left standing
it’s a super fun game you guys should try it (and invite me when you do it!)

If you’re not having fun don’t play… his mentality is correct because he’s playing a game.
Every once in a while, with the random match ups, you’re going to get one of these type of matches. Hopefully next week is better.
