Yaah, when I run glass cannon mesmer, thieves hit me 2.5k with their spammable, bouncing number #1 downed skill.

They’re probably specc’d for deadly arts I, I believe it’s called “back fighting” and gives 50% damage while downed.

yeah, I’ve noticed a large burn out of players

hopefully this March update fixes the issue because, if not, another game will come along and arenanet will lose a lot of customer base (free game or not – there will be expansions and players buying from the gem store) to another franchise

Reset was a blast. Had a lot of good fights all around (focusing on SF of course).

The battle at SF over the northern towers was pretty epic was well as bay.

The best however, had to be the bout we had in EB over the keep and Langor. Great fights from the tower to the camp (also, nice attempt at the keep from the side :P). You finally got enough to really tear us open from two sides of the keep though and it was a fun “alamo” style defense while it lasted.

Had fun taking down your groups around the camp (the siege really blocked our bombs towards the end) and, all in all, I feel we both made the best of the match up.

The pics are of fights in EB. Also, I’m really kicking myself for not taking a screenshot of the final keep fight or while in SF bl -_-

I am simply baffled as how this word, which is censored here, can be thrown around so lightly in game.

Let’s face it, many people sub this word for “pwn, own” We use it in conjunction to completely defeating another player. I’ve seen this word used in many games and on different mmo’s including this one, but people fail to see how incredibly painful and hateful this word really is.

A recent conversation with someone on voice chat has really opened my eyes to how hurtful this word it. It might not carry weight for many of us, but it really hurts victims and causes them to, in part, relive the experience. I personally think this is incredibly wrong and am amazed this word isn’t in the chat filter. People actually have to see insensitive and immature players use this word, and for victims, this isn’t fair. The guild wars team should step up and be progressive. This word should be put into the filter and monitored because, if we can save at least one person reliving this disgusting act, then it’s worth it.

Mods or devs I urge you to look at the word in question and put it in the filter and make hurtful uses of it considered a “hate” word such as some racist remarks.

Props to KWBH+whoever. It only took 40 minutes, 9 golems and 25ish players to overwhelm the 5 defenders of our keep @ 7am EST.

haha, well… I just got on and saw we had no commanders on and a total of 15 people so maybe whoever took it logged? We do have a lot of players and gaining more by the day so you’ll always see some of us running around

props to them all the same, upgraded keeps with full supply are hard to cap

A server is made up of many different types of people. Can’t blame the many for the actions of a few. Can’t even blame the whole guild in general. There are no hard feelings and just following them around (like we did for the guild on our server that glitched) and /report spamming works. Although, following them around usually stops that kind of behavior / as does talking to them.

Most GMs don’t want their guild to look bad…. sort of cuts down on new recruits / people wanting to stay in the guild so anything like that gets handled pretty quickly if they’re running guild tags

You take our lack of begging as a sign of not caring. I prefer to consider it having class and letting people decide… which is why I made an ET or FC post as opposed to just the server I’m on. No reason to slander one or the other, instead, let people check out both and see which is right for them. We both need people.

Tbh, it’s flattering that the larger server wants to derail us so badly. ET growing in numbers must threaten them.

We have a small window of 2-3 hours where we can make the map blue before the majority of your players get back and swarms us. I would hardly call that a decisive advantage. However, as more people get tired of the lag issues on higher servers and look for great communities, ET and FC will fill and then maybe that will play into giving us an edge.

ET and FC have a growing asian and aussie player base as well as EU players starting to come over to check us out.

Almost everyone I talk to that has made the move absolutely loves it here.

No queues, no server lag, great community, resilient players, and a slew of friendly commanders who care about players instead of using them as pawns… can’t ask for a better gaming atmosphere.

Because as I remember the only time we wiped was when FC was trying to get into ogre and there was a gigantic SF zerg that fought them and finished off the remainder of us inside. After which myself and several people logged off. Excuse me if I don’t indulge in your fantasies.

Also, good fights all around. It was a fun 3-4 hours. No one expects us to hold the points. Still not enough coverage, but it sure is fun taking them

Hopefully we get more people moving over here in the near future. If we’re going to be here, we might as well make the best of our fights.

Also shout out to all the smaller ET guilds growing and developing. You guys are progressing by leaps and bounds, and our night crew is really coming together. Great job all!

I think the goal of this thread is for people to come to both our communities, ET and FC depending on which they will have more fun in / fit in better… which is why I gave a FC contact as well :P

In college football, I am pretty sure teams play more than two other teams all year. Also, when “Savannah State” gets a ton of new recruits and stomps every other team they play by double to triple their scores, they should move up in rank.

(talking about DR and Kain being stuck in t8 for a long time while each in turn roflstomped the other servers then moved up to t5 or higher… it’s hard to gauge the talent when you don’t have a very good sample size… the problem is that t8 is a pitfall and until we do get another server in here, all you can do is speculate)

t8 community is a great place to be; however, being green would be nice once in a while.

I think you’re missing the point. People from ET and FC post screenshots because it’s a bit more impressive when the underdog takes it to you. It’s less impressive when the numerically superior server (who already has the advantage) takes a point.

For example:
Italian conquest of Ethiopia = not impressive
Leonidas I holding against the massive Persian army with only a 300 Spartans and a few thousand other Greeks = impressive

Of course this is just a game, and Leonidas eventually got wiped out, but you can see where I’m drawing the similarities from. It’s a good morale booster so don’t take it personally. It’s not meant to be offensive… people are just celebrating their accomplishments against a presumably larger force.

no… no we didn’t get any “numbers blast” … it’s more of a second wind and a lot of fc players leaving

you getting weaker is not us getting stronger, it’s just us capitalizing on your lack of coverage to devour extra points and coast into 2nd place.

Actually you are quite wrong the tier is very much still alive. There has been a second wind so to speak and a lot of us are rallying. Now is the time to get your feet wet because it’s the cheapest to transfer to (10g a piece is a few hours of farming) and there’s a lot of new players to fill your ranks.

It’s a lot more than 5v5, believe it or not, we do field some average sized zergs once in a while

Along with siege placement, t8 is about communication and movement. Since there aren’t massive amounts of people, a lot of it comes down to individual skill and teamwork which is a lot like spvp but there is also a lot of roaming and movement around maps. Sometimes we have fun holding camps and other times we do costume races. There’s been some pretty epic water battles as well as golem rushes (ET’s recent fetish).

Give it a shot if you want or I can take some SS’s for you tomorrow if that’ll sway you one way or another.

Although the match up isn’t great right now with the system the way it is, we do have some of the best communities around. Whether it be ET or FC, there are commanders and guilds on these two servers that love to teach new players and work together. We do everything from quaggan parades to having fun fortifying camps against zergs. There’s always something to do in WvW and I know a lot of the guilds here do a lot of pve events (might be irrelevant with guesting up).

To keep the post short and sweet, we are a really solid group here that has had a lot of practice against the odds and any members of our servers that join will make a lasting impact on wvw. Also, it’s around 10g offpeak to move

If you are interested in coming, throw out a pm to myself or Detharos.3157 (a player from a large FC guild). Moving servers is a big step for a lot of players and it’s important you get a feel for where you’re going to plant your feet. Anyway, time to get off the soapbox. Gl and hf in wvw all.

It’s a lot lower scale. Fights are more about movement and a good,organized force really does work (no matter how large or small). I’d say, before this stifling match, t8 on dr kain and et was the most fun I’ve ever had in wvw.

They’ll be out of our hair soon enough though so I look forward to more great match ups as time goes on.

I really do hope they fix commander tags soon though, the outrageous amount of people with tags is a little annoying and confusing to new players who have no idea about the /join squad function. – side rant

WM joins a t8 server (for whatever reason), RE joins and as they climb the get recruit more and more from the servers they defeat all the way up. I believe WP told me they got 100g and a free teamspeak server for moving there (before paid xfers).

As you climbed, there was a snowball effect, and now, understandably, you need more players to climb to tier 1.

I’d love to hear a reply on how aggressively getting all these guilds to join the rising star isn’t “stacking” a server.

Any press is good press I guess, and there’s nothing wrong with any of that, but the definition stands. It isn’t meant to be derogatory… it’s what you’re doing and so you should take pride in stacking kaineng and wanting your server to be better… no idea why you pretend otherwise.

The NAP was not set in stone or agreed upon by all of ET or FC, and why would it be? It was more of a way to prioritize which BL / who to attack. A lot of people took it literally and then there were some, like a certain night commander on ET, who went out of their way to attack ferg first… Unless you were monitoring WvW nonstop then it’s absurd to play the blame game.

(me msging the commander in question when I saw him making a B line for ferg and his answer was “attack them while they aren’t paying attention”)

To be honest, in video game culture now-a-days, people will try to do things to rile you up for the sake of riling you up. There will always be people on ET and Ferg attacking the other server just in spite of you.

Let’s enjoy the match for what it is (if you can do that) and if not then enjoy the new pve content. People are people, and there is no evil regime here or there. There is no boogeyman server waiting to jump you. Esp not Fergs… I have no problems with them and as far as SF, I have the occasional duel with them when I hop into wvw.

As far as SF, are you going to demand they only field a certain amount of people? no… that’s ridiculous. The system is broken and it’s not their fault. We are outnumbered and everyone knows it, and that’s why most people ignore any chest thumping from certain SF players (who know their situation and try to rile you up). There are bad eggs on every server, and we don’t see ours because we’re not their opponents.

What we need is a constructive solution. We have good communities here, and I am sure SF would appreciate a more even fight as well (how else do you get better except through competition). Recruitment threads are a good step as long as we can get people to funnel in at a somewhat even rate, and my invitation for any FC guilds to move or to work some kind of a move to FC is still on the table.

The problem wasn’t addressed soon enough, and now people have jumped ship at an alarming rate.

To answer the player who mailed me about transfers.

If you catch ET on offpeak, around 2am est to 6am est you can catch our server at med population and sometimes it gets lower so the gold price to transfer would then be anywhere from 8-12 g depending on the gold to gem rate and the population. It’s not unreasonable for a lvl 80 doing runs for a day or to get enough gold for himself and some buddies to come over here. It beats waiting months for the match up to change.

Making one of the servers a wpvp force is totally doable… Most of us came to t8 for a reason and a large part of that reason was because we loved the smaller scale fights, mobility, and tactics. Tier 8 is a WvW chess match. Also, why move somewhere where you don’t know anyone and could be trolled out of your mind? We’ve been fighting each other for quite some time so why not come over here with people you know? The only reason to have a “home” server is to wvw (because you can go anywhere to pve for free with guesting) and no one is having fun in wvw. Let’s make this a competitive tier. Before you decide to hop off to some other tier, think about why you came here. The wpvp and communities are unique here. It’s a no-brainer, come join your old foes here at ET.

Believe me when I extend the olive branch to any ferguson’s crossing guilds. It seems quite clear that arenanet doesn’t care about tier 8 and people are leaving in droves. I have already spoken to several of the FC guilds and I am totally sincere in helping you pay part of the cost of moving servers (I’m sure other wvw oriented guilds on our server would also help if asked)… That way we can have an active wvw population in at least one of the servers. Moobs, it’s a shame you guys didn’t take my offer as well, but I don’t blame you. The lack of caring or response from this company is incredible.

Feel free to mail me if you are interested. I’m sure many of you know this guild by now and you know we have a lot of good players just itching to have less of a pitched battle.

Benefits include but are not limited to: seeing me run around, the ability to play in a great community of spvp and wpvp players, coming somewhere where you’re wanted and can make a difference, serverwide voip, forums, etc.

Come join our side… it honestly couldn’t hurt and maybe you’ll get to like the ET community as much as I have

Not really about server loyalty… people like the pve communities and have a lot of friends they wvw with on a daily basis… if we were allowed to move and could afford to pay for all our friends that we wvw with we would… because I am feeling like t8 is neglected by the current wvw team. However, we won’t abandon people we’ve been playing with and have made friends with, you know?

I don’t see why the numbers just aren’t looked at and we have to go through this whole dance… many people would be satisfied with at least one red tag post about how they are looking into it.

I honestly think it would be amazing if they merged us with the bottom tier of EU… dunno if it would be possible, but it would certainly give us great coverage…

I also liked the idea of opening free xfers to ferg and ET… you could also just open transfers to ET or to ferg from ET or ferg respectively so that the WvW guilds can all be on one server and actually have an enjoyable time
