Anyway, this should make things interesting. It’s easy for people to come on here whining without any constructive way to fix the problem… the same people get on day in and day out and it seems all they want to do is put everything down.

If nothing else, it’ll make wvw a lot more interesting.

Kudos for addressing the problems.

I mean… it is the only legendary known (at this time) which is made of two other legendaries… it’s cool that it changes from twilight to sunrise based on time of day, but since legendaries are almost exclusively aesthetic, eternity should have another layer of “cool effect.”

Right now, having twilight and sunrise and swapping them out looks better (because of the footfalls) than just having eternity.

In short, eternity, because of its cost to make, should have better looking, cooler effects. Also, please add more second tier legendaries (two legendaries combined).

I don’t want to completely ruin the surprise but you should hear something big from us in the coming weeks about this very topic.

Instead of SURPRISING your playerbase, why not start a discussion here in the forums and ASK your playerbase what content they would like to see added, or changes they would like to see made? Involve the community, gauge their responses, and tailor the content based on community feedback, instead of “surprising” us.

On that note, can we get a test server?

people want to have fun… maybe wvw is fun for them and they have haven’t reached 80 yet… what’s wrong with them wanting to play wvw? You’ve never entered with a low character?

it’s a game, people play to have fun and if you don’t want low levels following you get a guild group together and turn your tag off

Because right now you guys have one guy running an Engineer, in our borderlands pulling people from walls, with a rifle. So if you could do something about punks like this, that’d be great. ET has it bad enough without people having to glitch. We get beat through normal play so, stop it.

While there isn’t much we can do about glitchers aside from telling them “hey, stop” providing us with maybe some screenshot proof, as well as a guild tag and something we could use as an identifier to pinpoint who it is would be very helpful.

I am all for policing that stuff, but Anet makes it clear that they want it all kept quiet and within the /report function in game. Just take a screenshot of it and put all the info you know about the guy on the report. These people will get what is coming to them.

Yeah, totally… like when we fought sf and the whole guild reported the speedhacking warrior for a month straight… saw him until the match ended, dunno where he went after that

That guy was loads of fun… he’d be in combat and outrun eles and thieves using shortbow and the movespeed signets then we’d down him somehow and he’d be running at us 3 seconds later… plenty of ss’s of that and plenty of infractions for posting them

Might seem weird to say, but I enjoy the lack of a thread because it shows a lack of trash talk. Scanning the match threads for a few weeks now I have to say this tier’s is my favorite forum-wise.

meh, I had always thought wvw was about being coordinated as a group, using synergy, misdirection, and siege correctly… ACs were already great for attacking up hard to reach places to hit trebs and such

now you spam the buttons on the doors and you can’t be reached… the range is a bit… broken, however, I don’t see what everyone’s arguing about devon has already stated it’s broken and a fix is inc… but like most things they’re taking their sweet time. I just hope they fix them before gw3

We’ve pretty much narrowed it down to one or two servers. Going to let any server that wants to contact us do so via pming me via forum mail so we can set up a meeting on ts or whatever your guild / server uses to give any final reasons why we’d make the best fit for your server as well as what your server can do for us. Hopefully by next Tues (21st), we’ll be trickling into our new home and making a real impact on their wvw and server. Thanks for all the well-wishes and comments, everyone has been incredibly helpful and I really appreciate all of it.

Interesting that this was posted around the time that GW2 turns six months old. What has happened since then? What has ANet done for those of us who have dedicated hours towards this one aspect of the game that we bought the game for? Fixed culling? /golfclap

These are all good suggestions, but I could make two more.

1. Be more forthcoming with what you plan to do. Don’t keep so much stuff a secret. In the event you decide to change things around, at least…

2. Give us a kitten public test server to try things out!

There’s no decay factor, when the rankings first came out I was rank 200 for weeks and weeks without playing (I’m not telling you this to brag I’m telling you this because of how surprised I was that, in a few games, I could be rank 200 and stay there for a week or more of not doing anything)… then I did soloq… honestly, the rank system should be taken with grain of salt because it doesn’t mean much until they get their act together

Sad to see people complaining about being matched against premades. Treat it as a challenge and try to get better…

To both of you, how is soloq supposed to be fun when you have to teach players how to play and the other team is roflstomping you at the spawn points? and the “get better” comment is ridiculous because you could be the best player in the world and get paired with four noobs and still get blown out… it’s okay for players who are in premades farming (although I don’t see the challenge) but for people that soloq it’s not fun going up against a premade team with bunkers and defined roamers who know what they’re doing while you are with rank 1s who have no idea how to play or are in any kind of voip… if I wanted that mosh pit I’d be joining the 8v8s or whatever… the rankings are a joke and the soloq is a joke… I’d like the ranking to generally reflect skill for players not in some kind of premade and who don’t spend hours upon hours destroying soloq players, many of whom don’t know the maps or any viable builds

unfortunately the time difference and pvdoor that lower tier EU servers give NA players won’t bring many of our players enjoyment … combine those with the latency issues and it’s a tough sell…

I mean sure, we could make a huge difference turning the maps one color while everyone’s asleep, but will we have fun doing it? probably not

The shoe being on the other foot, if any larger guild from EU decided to head to the lowest tier of the NA match up they would undoubtedly bring that server up a tier, but they would meet with little or no resistance and just attack mostly empty forts

premades farming pugs → not fun

The only explanation on how this match up even occurred (if things are indeed working as intended) is that there are so few people looking for group that it had to scrape us all together just to face these guys… and that should tell the people at anet something.

Why is a premade with levels such as this even allowed to go against a hotjoin team with a bunch of level 1’s? I thought that arenanet was matching elos (5th such fail today trying to hotjoin tournies)?

I just wanted to throw out that a lot of people I know have been staying out of tournaments just because of this kind of bs… spvp just isn’t fun. Whoever is doing your testing and implementation (if you’re doing any at all) should probably be fired.

A new ui? great. spectator mode? wonderful … not addressing the fundamental matchmaking flaws? horrible … Also, why is my pet stronger than most warriors?

Yeah, it’s pretty much backstab thief with no stealth, no steal as a gap closer, a telegraphed backstab, and 2/3 of your utilities are spent on pure dps.

It’s too big a decision to rush. We are taking this move seriously because we want to find somewhere we can stay for a very long time… so while people throwing suggestions out on the forums is great, but it’s important to check out each of the servers that contacts us and wants a larger wvw guild in order to really get a feel for what they’re about. We’ve definitely been sending out people to check things out on more than one server though.

A lot of people here have told you what their server needs. However very few has asked you what you need. And I think that’s the single most important issue to consider for you and your guild.

-What kind of players you like to hang out with? Hardcore or goofy?
-Is WvW queue a major issue for you? 5 minute or 30 min+ wait time?
-Do you aim to learn from others or teach others?
-Do you prefer to work with profession guilds or with PUGs?
-Do you prefer to run with a smaller but higher quality zerg, or a bigger but lower quality zerg?
-Is money a huge issue? How important is money when compared to the other topics above?

These can only be answered in an online meeting, like with Teamspeak. Can we set up a time to meet with you to discuss this further? On behalf of Kaineng, I look forward to hearing from you.

I appreciate a post like this, we have already made arrangements to speak to several different guilds on different servers. The fact of the matter is this is a big decision that will span over several weeks because we really want to get to know players and the community of the server we choose. It will also take a lot of coordination to move this many people.

As far as some of your questions, I can definitely give a quick reply.

-What kind of players you like to hang out with? Hardcore or goofy?
We’re somewhat hardcore, but we joke around a lot (not to the point of trolling but a good joke once in a while is appreciated)

-Is WvW queue a major issue for you? 5 minute or 30 min+ wait time?
Queue time is in fact a major issue and we prefer to have zero downtime in getting everyone together

-Do you aim to learn from others or teach others?
We are open to picking up any tactics and we have held tutorials for new players in wvw before, we are all on the same team so helping pugs is helping everyone – also, we are open to constructive criticism and love to gvg in order to become better

-Do you prefer to work with profession guilds or with PUGs?
Right now, we work with a lot of pugs, and although we realize there are many trolls out there, we prefer a community where the people are mostly good-natured and listen to commanders, if we need to we will tag down and do what we can to help, it’s not a big deal

-Do you prefer to run with a smaller but higher quality zerg, or a bigger but lower quality zerg?
We run our own zerg most of the time and try to coordinate with the other guilds. Voip is a requirement in guild to stay coordinated and most of the time we are off in another borderland taking up the lane. Defending is okay for us as well and we will go to whichever bl we are needed in. We want to go somewhere that wants to work with us and can coordinate a defense / attack effectively. When we can’t field 15-20+ people at once, our commanders will either head to another commander or try to rally the militia

SF would love to have some t8 hell-forged brothers with us. KWBH was another one of those forces to be reckoned with on ET. We’re looking for more people regardless as we settle into our tier and would definitely prefer it was people we knew were competent and good at WvW.

So hopefully SF is a consideration for you guys. Feel free to pm me if you need any info/help getting over. Most of the commanders that fought you when we were in t8 are pretty tight and would work with integrating communication with you guys if you wanted.

80-90 online at once? You’re going to screw up whatever match you go to in T5-T7. I’d suggest waiting a week, and if Kaineng is dying enough to go to T4, you’d probably want to go to Sea of Sorrows and bring them up to a well-rounded T3 server.

we usually only have half of that in wvw on resets so I’m not sure about how accurate that is

yeah this is just in order to get in touch with some people from guilds who wvw on those servers regularly – we’ve been quite busy guesting tbh

we don’t want queue times so we’re aiming at lower tiers – the fact that you’re red green or blue doesn’t matter at all… we’re used to playing as the underdog

don’t know maybe I’m rusty but there were viable ranger builds BEFORE the buff… idk seems like everyone’s playing one atm

instead of having a ladder reset let’s just have a open transfer period where all your influence can move as well and do it like in spvp where you can “randomize” where your guild goes and then you get a free transfer voucher via in game mail (a man can dream)

there’s no use talking to this guy he’s desperate to defend (probably) the only spec and class he’s good at because it requires a low skill base

unkillable is okay with you? you must play an ele… but if you’re really “good” at this game you won’t mind instead you’ll just choose other specs. This spec is broken and a lot of spvpers agree… there’s a small minority who play the spec and play it well in order to be invincible who defend it, but a truly good player won’t mind, they’ll just adapt because there are other specs out there (they don’t grant godmode though sorry)

sadly I played against a premade of 5 bunker eles… it made me want to quit this game

in the ctf map (which started as the leaderboards came out) all the ele would have to do is rtl blink pick the orb up before one of us was at it, his buddies would sit next to him aoe healing and wiping off conditions and he’d just rtl and blink to cap the orb… worse yet is when you see one of these or a pack of these roaming in wvw where they come out of nowhere blinking with their earth 5 get about 25 stacks of bleed before you know what hit you and run away whenever they want to – but back to spvp… I’ve seen what you guys are talking about where a good ele is unkillable and it’s sad that people defend this class even if most of them just button mash and target the ground immediately in front of them with no idea what they’re doing… if a player like that can survive then we have a problem
