I didn’t see Surfeuze mentioned. First GW2 player to cap at 80. Surfeuze did this in 32 hours by PvE to 60 then crafting to 80 using mats his guild gave him. Even though it sounds like the content was mostly skipped over to me that seems like an insane amount of time to cap that fast.

Meh~ i don’t consider being the 1st to lvl cap to 80 to be of any great achievement,
it just tells me he has loads of time and plays the game way too efficiently.
Still, gratz to him for being the first.

Personally for me, good celebrities are the ones who actually contribute to the community in a good way, like Mr Prometheus did for guiding mesmers, and of
course Dulfy for her invaluable GW2 guide.

I remembered if not because of Dulfy’s guide, NO ONE really knew how
to do the first Halloween event at all. Anet didn’t even bother to give any
guides for those who needed it. Thats how important her guides were.

Nice event you’ve got going there.
You know, one thing i really liked about this game is how the community hosts these sort of open world events. I really love it very much.

The last server event i attended was the CD’s pink ribbon awareness one, and i had alot of fun.

I have to agree with you.
Anet, right now personally for me, GW2 is the BEST mmorpg on the market.
The amount of blood, sweat and tears poured into this project is definitely
not wasted as i can see that this game is truly a labour of love.

Paying only a 1 time fee for such a AAA quality MMO with no monthly subscriptions and only non-compulsory cashshop transaction is truly astounding.

Right now however, what you’ve got really very good, but not truly great.
The road ahead is long, and you have got an uphill battle waiting for you everytime.

Sit down, re-evaluate your goals for GW2 and even if this brings a bad taste
to your mouth, take a long hard look at WoW.

Before you delete my post, hear me out.
WoW has stayed at the top for over 8 years, and even though it has recently been a joke lately, it is still at the top. Research and find out why is it that makes it the best, and incorporate its good parts into GW2.

You have a winning game with GW2 and if you play your cards right,
you could finally be the one that dethrone WoW, or at least be one
of the MAJOR contenders in the MMO market in the years to come.

Do not be disheartened by the negative posts on the forum.
We post negative posts or constructive posts if you prefer to call them,
because we want this game to succeed.
If we didn’t we won’t even BOTHER to post at all.

I think you just found the KEY problem here. In another thread everyone was discussing why we think that Anet has been so slow on fixing all of the serious issues with this game and I thought it was most likely a managerial issue.

I think you touched on it right there. The problem I don’t think is the Devs as I once thought I think it’s also management because there’s something that’s not quite right in the decision making process and the organization process of the patches that’s made me wonder for a while now about their decisions.

Played a elementalist since launch and gave up for a few months.

It was Mr Prometheus’s mesmer guide that gave me the push to replay GW2
and choose a Mesmer instead, and guess what? I Love Mesmers so much

Not sure if he’s still playing tho, he has not been updating his Youtube video for awhile now.

Personally i am abit worried why are NCSoft and Arenanet not on the same wavelength. NCSoft hinting expansion coming, and Arenanet saying no expansions
are currently planned??

Here are a bunch of things that happened:

1) Ascended items are a new type of gear that you gotta grind for. A new dungeon instance had been created for it, and it is actually a series of randomized series of mini dungeons.

2) No more zerg parties around Orr, its literally a dead place now, Everyone now just do COF P1 for gold farming.

3) AC Dungeon has had its difficulties increased alot more now, and many players don’t find a need to visit it any more. (Too much trouble for too little reward)

4) You are now able to preview items in the Auction House.

5) Living story is well….don’t get your hopes too high for them. They’re just mini quests that most people just click thru and get it over with.

6) There was a very cool Retro 80s jumping puzzle kitten dungeon called “Super Adventure Box” which was cute and fun, but its removed now, as it was only available as a temporary content only.

7) Additional content has been added for Guilds to participate in. Most of them are quite fun actually.

8) A new living story will be available soon called “Secret of Southsun” which takes place in a new area called Southsun Cove. Again, its only a living story so don’t expect too much from it. It’ll probably be just a few forgettable mini quests and probably a dungeon.

I played Rappelz as well, and this dungeon idea is great. But I think it should be done in a way that the percentage of gold the dominant guild earns wont affect the rewards we have now
I mean, if that lowers the prize from 50 silver to 40 silver, I’d probably stop running dungeons for money (no, I dont speedrun CoF, I prefer other dungeons)

Why can’t dragon’s morph into a humanoid form and can actually talk?
Man i hope we see Zhaitan again, maybe in a humanoid form, and have
a whole story crafted around him, maybe even sympathetic to him.

A good villian deserves sympathy at times, not just flying around for us to pew pew him.

Basically what you are suggesting is a DPS meter.
This is partly a reason how it makes a mmo community very toxic.

Rift was an MMO that i used to enjoy that didn’t had such a meter at first,
then some joker went and created a dps meter. And guess what? Overnight,
the community immediately became very toxic. And no, it is not because
i’m doing bad dps, i do ok actually tbh.

Hey everyone,
Actually this idea comes from an old f2p korean MMO that i used to play: Rappelz.
Hear me out ok? While the whole game is a typical korean grinder type MMO, it
had a very interesting system whereby Dungeons in the world can be owned by
Guilds, max of 1 dungeon per guild.

What is the purpose of owning a dungeon then? Well, for every party that enters the dungeon, the guild will take a certain percentage of gold that was dropped. This will then be stored within a Dungeon Stone that can be withdrawn anytime from either the Dungeon Owner Guild’s GL or appointed officers.

At the beginning of every week, there would be a timeframe where any guild can challenge the owner of the dungeon and an event will begin where the attacking guild will “invade” the dungeon and the defenders can take up position within the dungeon itself. Yes there will STILL be the usual trash mobs and bosses, but they will be friendly towards the Defenders while being Hostile to the invaders.

The attackers main objective is to destroy specific dungeon totems and once all are destroyed, the attackers will win. Else if defenders manage to either kill off all attackers or survive till the end of a clock countdown, defenders win.
If the invading guild loses, it will then have maybe a cooldown of 1 week before it is allowed to invade another dungeon again. This is to prevent guilds mass spamming invading of dungeons.

I thought this was a splendid idea as it had a few benefits:

1) Long awaited Guild VS Guild action!!

2) Provide yet another event for guilds to participate in. It would be cool to have guild members rally together to defend or invade dungeons. This means that EVERY WEEK there will be something for guilds to do.

3) Provide a source of income for guild funds.

4) Entice more people to go dungeoning (The guild owning the dungeon could set incentives to the dungeon such as maybe increased Magic Find %? to entice parties to visit that dungeon more? Or other additional ambient buffs?) Right now, no one wanna visit dungeons other then COF, doing this, people may be more enticed to visit other dungeons IF the owning guild sets some nice incentive buffs for dungeon parties.

5) Bragging rights. Do you wanna know who are the best guilds? Own a dungeon then. Don’t own a dungeon? INVADE one then

Disadvantages:

1) Coding will probably be quite complicated, probably needing an overhaul

2) Doesn’t really fit in lorewise

3) Smaller guilds might be affected as they may never have a chance to get in on this action, and alot of their members may just feel like leaving to join a bigger guild.

Anyway its just a thought on how Anet can spice up the dungeons in this game, to provide more fun for both PVP AND PVE enthusiasts.

Just my 2 cents as to how we can go about making dungeons more valuable and prized content Waddya’ll think?

I prefer content to be permanent instead of temporary.
Anet is giving the signal (at least for me) that it is wasting it time and resources on producing temporary content.

Like the other thread that mentioned. They went thru the trouble of making a dungeon, just so it will only last for 12 days? What?
Either the dungeon is so stupidly easy and simple to design, or Anet employees really like churning out content.

Back to the topic tho, i felt it was really in bad taste to liken the Flame and Frost storyline to an actual expansion. It really adds fuel to the rumor that the game is not profitable anymore and they are not planning to release any more expansions this year (or ever).

I still don’t understand, why go thru all the trouble of designing temporary content that would be removed?? whats the logic in that?? Are they using GW2 as a testing ground to test out new idea for a new MMO that they are cooking up? It doesn’t make any sense.

I hope they don’t go “You can plant an acorn and watch trees grow realtime” next.
I hope they don’t get infected by the “Peter Molyneux” syndrome.

Even if they had little time and little budget, couldn’t they have at least made sure people could get into the dungeon? Isn’t that like the main thing that should be tested? Its like trying to buy a car, but u realize the car has no wheels.

I really don’t mind minor glitches like clipping etc, but having
the most important aspect of this retribution story (the dungeon)
not accessible tells me that they have not even tested at all.

Either that or someone at anet made a very bad mistake and uploaded
a wrong patch or something.

Sorry Anet, im already not impressed with this flame and frost quest, mainly because of having you brag it as having EVEN MOAR CONTENT THEN AN ENTIRE EXPANSION, and this bug is just unacceptable.

You have a good MMO on your hands. Don’t squander the opportunity you have by releasing these minor rubbish. (SAB is good tho, kudos to you)

I mean it’ll be really cool to see fellow players of the game, and i dunno, have a chance for developers to answer some Q & A, and of course would be the coolest time to launch an expansion!! (if it was ever coming). Guild Wars 2 cosplay, action figurines, dioramas on display etc lol.

They nerfed the rewards from almost every other part of the game so if they nerf this the forums are going to be epic qq. That is basically the main way players make coin to buy stuff now so messing with it is going to make lots of players mad.

Yes i know this is a very unpopular topic.
And personally i find it very sad that the loot table in GW2 is so unexciting that it forces players to farm this for meagre scraps of gold.

However, for the good of this game’s future, please improve on your loot and nerf this dungeon. I come to GW2 to have a good time, not to grind 5 runs daily for gold. I do that everyday at work already.

I’m probably gonna get flamed / bashed about this,
but i hope Anet knows that everyone using COF (Citadel of Flame Dungeon) path 1 to farm for gold. It yields about 3 to 3.5 gold per run depending if u use food buffs.

I do it myself, and while it is nice to get gold, i feel that this goes against
the idea of having fun. Personally i find it a lil sad that we players have to
resort to do this because of the terrible loot found elsewhere and i hope Anet can look into this. Grind grind grind grind for gold is killing my interest fast.
Everyday, i’ll just log in, do my daily, run 5 runs of COF and call it a day. sad.

If COF P1 is designed to be farmed like this, (which i suspect is to probably keep gold farmer rangers contained within and not out in the open world) Then PLEASE remove the annoying world event timer that locks the COF waypoint and entrance. Might as well make it open 24/7. Quite annoying to have to guest to other servers and find that all servers are also contested.

Used to be Elem, but just found it too hard to survive.
Watched Mr Prometheus video and im a true believer, Mesmer all the way!
The class is so maneurverable so many escape mechanics, its a joy to play.

Trying a Guardian now, not having much luck, not fun in dying a million times.

I’m really excited that Anet is finally gonna release pvp arenas.
Can finally plan on designing a long awaited guild pvp tournament

I have a few enquiries and suggestions tho:

1) Is the custom arena that i buy from the cash shop permanently available for me to use? If so, why would i still need to buy time tokens to add rental time to my own custom arena? How much will these arenas cost?

2) Will there be Non-Cash Shop arenas available on the open world that we don’t ahve to buy from the cash shop? and can i use time tokens to rent them?

3) Instead of holding only 1 v 1 matches, can i customize as to how i want the rules to be? Eg: 3v3? 5v5?

4) Having private arenas is good, however is there a chance for an Open World PVP Arena where players can queue up like in wvw for a spot, and anyone else can join in for free?

+1 to you and it is a very well made video.
Not only does it lists out most of the gripes we have, you have even gone the extra mile to provide solutions to some of them.

Certainly hope ANET watches and studies this video closely.
For me, my number 1 gripe is the Zhaitan fight.
It is so anti-climactic, so stupid that i wanna rage.

Your version of the Zhaitan fight just feels that much more epic.
My only guess is that they probably ran out of funding when designing this fight.

I was so happy that i finished personal story and thought i could get rid of that top-right message. Then came Flame and Frost and that stupid area is blocked again lol.
I can’t wait for this Flame and Frost event to end so i no longer see it anymore lol.

And your solution would mean I can’t do the Pirate jumping puzzle in Lion’s Arch on my main. Namely the dark room. I use my AOE ring to see where I’m jumping as it will give an outline to the next rock I have to jump on. And it took me a while to be able to it with relatively few errors due to my own jumping skills.

Anet could look into amending the existing JPs so that people can still do the JP without using any characters skills. Maybe have a magical torch that can be collected somewhere on the JP or something. (Wait i remember they do have torches. i can’t remember that JP that much now tho)

Anyway I still stand by view that using Mesmer’s Portal to shortcut JPs DEFEATs the purpose of doing JPs in the first place. Why go thru the trouble of designing a JP just so it can be shorcut like this? You might as well just put the chest on the ground right?

Its all nice to say that “Oh mesmers provide an invaluable service, oh it promotes social cohesion”. But in reality, it just encourages lazy players who cannot even bother to do the JP and some outright rude players who literally demand the mesmers to do portal for them. Do these players appreciate the portal being created? No. they just grab the chest and disappear, most without even saying thank you. Players who play as mesmers would probably come across some those people i mentioned at some point or another.

At the end of the day, i just wanna say. No matter what excuses you give, be honest, you just want easy loot access right?

I know its strange that i would want portal to be disallowed in JPs as i am a mesmer myself, and why nerf myself rite? But i honestly think that using portal really trivializes JP. Just my 2 cents.

Haven’t played a Necro, but i definitely enjoyed my Mesmer using Staff, Sword/Focus

I’m following Mr Prometheus’s guide and its so easy to lvl.
I keep outlvling the zones i’m in, and with some time and if its not that laggy,
i can solo kill champion mobs 10 levels above me with ease. I don’t get why pple find mesmers so hard to level lol!

Really love the Staff Mesmer for its many escape mechanisms.
1) Standard dodge
2) Phase Retreat
3) Blink

If you want to play a Mesmer you MUST watch Mr Prometheus’s guide first.
He explains everything so well and easy to understand.

I myself play a mesmer and i agree with the poster.
Portals should NEVER be allowed in JPs. It trivializes the content.

While im hoping Portal don’t get nerfed anymore, i’m hoping JPs have a special
way of removing ALL skills from a player so that it can be played ONLY via the player’s actual jumping skills?

Sort of like how SAB removed all your existing skills and replaced them with something completely different.

You want to AFK in an open world PVE zone and expect mobs to NOT kill you??
You want to AFK in a BOSS FIGHT and watch music videos and read news!?! WHAT?

I don’t think ANY mmorpg in existence lets you AFK and NOT be attacked by hostile mobs. It’s like standing in the middle of a busy highway and expect not to be hit by a car!

And i agree with the above posters. If you AFK in a boss fight, you DESERVE to be killed.

So when the Asian server launches, does that mean i’ll be region locked to only

Interesting views guys, so i take it that most of the playerbase understands that Anet is probably taking a more cautious stance in developing Expansion Packs due to the amount of work and money involved.

Yea i myself support the optimistic version because after all, KDB Daewoo Securities even wrote down that they were impressed with GW2 sales. I guess we’ll have to see how the future holds for GW2.

Yea, i guess its wise to be cautious and calculate carefully in this economic climate.
Though i do hope we get more content annoucements soon, can’t wait to finish up this flame and frost thing and get that annoying msg box out of my screen lol!

So i’ve been really enjoying the game when it launched way back, and had thought that we would at least have news of expansion packs in 2013. Instead, we don’t have any news at all, but just peppered with some minor content patches here and there.

I mean i like the Super Adventure Box update, it really rocks, but the entire Flame and Frost questline i just don’t get it. As far as i know, its just a small little quest that basically gets me following a couple of dudes and go kill stuffs lol.

So anyway i went to googling, and found 2 intriguing articles:

Although i haven’t played GW1, i remembered seeing TONS of expansion
pack for it, a sure sign that that game was crazy profitable.

I’m not trying to add Doom and Gloom or predict anything, just a lil concerned that GW2 may have auto-magically suddenly become not profitable anymore and will probably gonna shut down soon without warning. TBH i really enjoy this game very much.

You sound like you are playing the game solo, which may be the reason of your current situation. Join a guild with like-minded individuals and just have fun.

Alot of players nowadays expect MMOs to have an “end game content”. There seriously isn’t any TBH. A good end game content IMO is the bond and friendships that you make with the community/guild, guys and gals that you look forward to logging in every night to chit chat with, run dungeons with etc. That alone beats the so-called “End Game Content” that everyone thinks they want.

I advise not to go rush for any “ingame goals”, crafting a legendary may be fine, but don’t let that consume your life. You’ll get burned out pretty quickly. Make more friends, change server if you have to, but somewhere out there, are some like-minded people like you just waiting for you to join them.

I think its a fine line defining wats sexy and whats overly revealing.
My elementalist is lvl80 and i absolutely love the order of whispers dress.

Its sexy revealing just her sexy legs but not overtly revealing like a prostitute.

My vote goes to No. I don’t want to start having people say I HAVE to have certain addons in order to even do dungeons. Where’s the fun in that?

If Deadly Boss or some other stuffs like that appear, what fun is it to conquer a dungeon using your own instincts and skills then? Definitely no addons pls.

I don’t want to one day having to go to a friends place or LAN party, and have to RE-DOWNLOAD ALL the addons i need just to even enjoy a game. This was one of the worst aspects of WoW.
