You CAN waypoint to all the towns and small outposts provided you visited them once already.

As for the miniquests, you can skip them to your heart content, unless you really want the skill one of those provides since it’s cheaper to do the quest than to buy it from vendors.

Yea i know u can waypoint, but kitten !! are they stingy about it.
Eg: Ascalon City all the way to the The Breach…and….no WP there.
Heck there isn’t even any WP to Old Ascalon!

I really don’t see why pple like this game so much.
To me, this is just another artificial way to add extra padding to lengthen the game.
For those people who played hundreds of hours of GW1, i bet at least 80% of those time was spent jogging all over the place.

Can someone please list out again what is it that makes GW1 good?

Ok i’m probably gonna get flamed like mad here, but man GW1 really really…sucks
There are so many mini quests all over the kitten place, you can’t waypoint, there’s no mount, and you gotta run over the stupid map just to do them, otherwise you can’t unlock skills and stuff. And when you die, you get spawned back far away and u gotta run back.

And don’t even start about the henchmen, who die so fast, its not even funny.
Admittedly im still lvl 7, and just starting out after pre-searing Ascalon, but my patience is wearing thin. Does the game’s story get any better? Or is this whole game just a bunch of doing stupid misc quests? Can i just skip all the mini quests and do the story quests? They are really boring my skull off.

I actually find this game good to play for insomniacs.
It’ll make you so kitten sleepy having to run all over the place.
Man…i’m no stranger to old mmorpgs and old games, but kitten ! GW1 is argggh~

I felt like i wasted my money buying Trilogy+Eotn when i could’ve gotten divinity sin instead

And yes i think Anet will implement VIP system sooner or later.
This is probably another last ditch effort command from NCSoft to wring

Wow..i’m now still in pre-searing Ascalon and trying to do all the quests there.

Is there a faster way to move around? Running feels so slow and theres no mounts, no waypoints. Yes yes, i know we can fast travel to selected cities if unlocked, but does it get faster in later game? Or are we supposed to just jog all over the place?

Good Points so Far:
1) Its interesting to encounter the characters that we eventually fight in AC.
Ralena, Vassar, Adelbern.
2) Its interesting how a small item “Small Girl’s Cloak” together with a bunch of other items can open up a later quest, and this is never even mentioned in the game.

Bad Points so Far:
1) Definitely a very old-school MMO hotbar spamming style, i miss active combat.
2) Getting quests from NPCs from one end of the world to another end isn’t fun.

Unless there is a living story specifically focused on underwater story,
don’t expect much changes to be updated for it.

1) Monk (For healing abilities i guess?)
2) Ranger (To get a pet to tank while i nuke at a safe distance?)
3) Mesmer (To go all out glass cannon and nuke’em b4 they get close?)

Which of the 3 above would be most useful for soloing?

Anyway, I’ve got my DK2 recently and I must say, while it is still quite rough,
I am very impressed with what it can do so far. Playing VR games is
a really special experience that everyone gotta try at least once.

That said, i would like to know if Anet has any plans or if there are any
VR projects out there that will allow GW2 to utilize the Oculus Rift?
I know Anet probably already up to their neck with the work on Living Story,
but I’d just like to know if they are even remotely entertaining the idea.

Can you imagine how stupidly insane cool it would be to view Tyria
in VR, and see the magnificent Divinity Reach out in the distance,
or Rata Sum or any of the really beautiful vistas all over the place?

True, we don’t have a first person view, but if done correctly, it will
still be a very powerful VR experience.

Edit: I found this piece of video showcasing GW2 in VR. Its in french though.
Its not exactly VR as its just a 2D screen being virtually broadcast but it does
give a feel how it might feel like.

Yes, yet another moan and groan thread about Episode 3.
Just finished it, and the whole thing just felt like a filler and busy work.

I get that they are trying to integrate the open world into
Living Story, but after the awesomeness that was Ep1 and
ESPECIALLY ep2, ep3 just comes across as….meh.

The only event that we all looked forward to “The Foefire Cleansing” which
lead to SO MUCH SPECULATION due to the trailer was so…..meh~

Yes, Rytlock failed, but wasn’t it strange that he just jumped into a portal
that leads to who knows where, and everyone else was like “Meh, he’ll be fine”. lol.

NOTHING in Episode 3 made me want to find out more about the story,
i was just plodding along and just bored out of my mind.

Here’s hoping Episode 4 can salvage the story, and hope the rest of
Season 2 isn’t as lackluster as this.

Indeed, Living World Season 2 story so far has completely surpassed Season 1 in both quality and depth. Much kudos to the story team for taking in all the criticisms given. As you can already tell, we enjoyed it very much. As long as the quality of the story continues like this, you’ve got a winner.

I think it would be very mature of Anet to introduce a storyline where the mother has to learn to accept that her daughter is gay.

I mean, so many videogames proclaim to include gay characters just for the sake of including them, but none have really tried to tackle the real world issues of conservative parents vs their gay children, and the sometimes very real anguish that develops. Not even Bioware has the balls to do this.

Will anet tackle this issue via a good “Acceptance” storyline?
Probably not, but it would be very gutsy of them to try.

What about….Trahearne?
Since he’s gonna come into the story anyway, might as well be now.

Jory tries to rez Belinda using her necro skills but fails.
Along comes Trahearne who combines power with Jory succeeds in rezzing Belinda.
Or maybe Trahearne gives away part of his lifeforce or something to help rez Belinda.
Trahearne is thus extremely weakened and thus when the fight with Mordy comes, he can’t win and dies as a result much later in the story.

If anet needed for them to be there, at least let them do some sort of /afraid or /cry emote from time to time.

If belinda was to die, then there should have been a scene where we see Marjory absolutely POWERLESS to save her and see her slowly die right before her eyes.
It would have been a much more powerful scene then the one we got right now.

Belinda or Drooburt?

Belinda:
We only saw her for 1 episode, chit chatted abit then saw her hang in Episode 2.
While she’s related to Marjory, and its sad that she died, i can’t help but feel that Anet
wasted an opportunity to pull an “Aeris” on us. She should have stayed for a couple of episodes more IMO, which would make her death MORE impactful. Really lost a golden opportunity with this one IMO.

Drooburt:
Surprisingly, i felt more sad at seeing Drooburt die then Belinda.
Partly because I know i’ll never see my 1 gold back lol.
He was just there, with absolutely no reason other then asking for money.
While we also only saw Droo for only 1 episode, we have absolutely no idea where he’s from, other then a probably down on his luck quaggan just needing a drink and i dunno, i truly felt sad when i saw him just hanging there, because he truly was an innocent victim of Mordy’s onslaught.

Yea, they should have let Belinda stay for a couple of episodes more and maybe adventured with us before they killed her off so the death has more impact.

As of right now, i think players feel more impact for Drooburt then Belinda, because
some of us actually gave gold to that fool.

Love the staff and the stowing animation that i have on my celestially coloued mesmer. Although the head of the staff would look nicer if its a nice sculpt instead of a broken moon look.

Answer: No. As we’ve seen, Mordremoth seems to be going after specific waypoints, not all of them (specifically ones closer to ley lines), and Taimi’s already working up a way to protect waypoints from getting snared by it later on.

Mounts, while possibly being a neat thing, would be redundant and unnecessary in this game as is.

Although, the Sonic Tunneling Tool/Witch Broom might work as a substitute for that, if you feel like using gems for those… (shrugs)

The Waypoints we have are all on ley lines, otherwise, like Taimi said, they wouldn’t work.
Specifically, she said the Asura tried placing a lot of waypoints, but only some of them worked (the ones that were on ley lines), so they removed the rest.

Apparently it seemed like the Asura also didn’t know that it was the ley lines that caused the waypoints to work in the first place.

Sure, Taimi would probably conjure a way to protect the wps from being snared, but wouldn’t it make sense to disable and remove them first as a precaution after what happened in Concordia and Salma? Would the humans even dare to entrust the life of Queen Jennah on an as yet to be proven Asura youngling progeny??

Well said. I especially liked it when Taimi toned down on her excited voice
when Kasmeer mentioned about Belinda’s death to the crew. That was a nice touch,
wouldn’t be very respectful to still be excited when hearing about a recent friend’s death.

Of course she did still go all excited later, but i liked that she toned down after just hearing of the recent belinda’s death.

Yes, while GW2 does have its flaws, it certainly is a great MMO.
Below are just a few points:

1) No monthly fee. And no one forces you to buy anything.
Everything in cashshop is for either convenience or cosmetic, no pay to win.

2) GW2 community are generally alot friendlier then WoW (don’t join groups that advertise as Zerk only though) It helps that GW2 does not allow addons like gearscore or dps meters to toxify the community like wow did. (yes yes you can spout lots of arguments why it is good, but face it, those tools do also contribute to community toxicity)

3) No gear grinding (This may or may not be a plus point depending on you. In GW2, people grind for cosmetic looks, not stats. We fight well, and want to look kitten cool doing it lol)

Great to have you onboard, you’re just in time to enjoy Season 2 of the Living Story which so far isn’t that shabby at all.

I bought this game at launch and enjoyed myself tremendously.
What do I think about the game being half-off for new players?

I say GO FOR IT! I paid my share happily and if a cheaper price can
entice more new players, why not? More people should be playing it IMO.

If you are kittened off that new players are getting it half-off, then
maybe you shouldn’t ever buy ANYTHING. ever.

I’m one of those that was looking forward to an expansion pack.
But 2 years later, i’ve already given up hope for it. Living Story is the way to go now.
