As a brand new player I would LOVE to be able to play LS1 first to “catch up” with what is going on, as LA before it was destroyed looks great and would love to be able to play up to current, so I am then up to date…

Honestly, there are only two downsides I can see to this:

- Players who cannot, for whatever reason, purchase Gems to purchase the unlocks. Let’s face it, there is a considerable chance people will not be willing/able to put the grind time in to earn Gold enough to buy 200 Gems. There are also people who are without access to a credit card for buying them via the store. This can foster a feeling of dissatisfaction over the apparently insurmountable fence between them and content they missed.

- New players when we hit Season 6 could look back, see the huge pile of price tags for the previous seasons, and decide to just opt out of the game entirely as a “naked and blatant cash grab” is seen. Assuming we actually get new players six years from now . . .

If you can’t earn 20 gold in this game chances are you have other things you could be doing then reliving old stories out of curiosity

By season 6 seasons 1 to 4 would likely be in unlock packs are reduced prices. Like skill packs in – 21

lol i doubt gw2 will even reach season 6.
And if it is already season 6 and you still haven’t done Seasons 1 – 4, i’d
recommend moving on to a newer mmo rather then pay for them tbh.

Season 2 is Guild Wars 2 expansion pack.

Gw2 will NEVER feature boxed expansion pack ever.
Living Story is the only way to go now.

I like how people toss out premium features like HBOgo, which all have an additional cost. Where as this does not. I can see the argument that we can set out DVRs up to record in advance…to an extent. I think mine only goes out like 2 weeks…

Anyway, how is paying 200gems if you miss the content any different if they had simply boxed it all up as an expansion / mini expansion / whatever and made you buy a box to get it? I guess FF11, FF14 and SWTOR are the only MMOs I know that continue taking Story telling seriously in an epic adventure through missions and exploring… Only problem with those games is Combat sucks… and no Jumping Puzzles and such content I liked from GW2. I dont play games just for story, I play games with good story and gameplay together.

Anyway gw2 isn’t such a bad game tbh. at least its not as stupid as SWTOR where you literally must pay to even wear epic gear i think.

It is however not a conventional mmo, think of it as a very casual mmo, where it encourages you to have alts and doll up your avatar in nice mix and match armors.
Oh, if you like wvw zerging, gw2 can be fun for you.

If you don’t hold too much hope for gw2, you will be happier.
Just treat it as an mmo, that you can come back to play anytime with no subs and obligations to pay for anything.

They can simply solve it by splitting the 3 stats (power, precision, ferocity)
Or maybe allowing maximum only 1 or 2 pieces of zerker stat gear.

Is there a reason why they are still allowing zerker gear in game?

It’s rather toxic to see a party list that does this:
lvl80s zerkers only, ping gear, >10,000AP only

Then imagine the poor just lvl80 new GW2 player who joined the party only to get kicked without knowing the real reason why.

During Launch, i have hopes of Mounts.
I argue how it will benefit the game, how cool it will be.

2 years later….

The best way to tell a story is through these 2 contents.
The Living World is the worst way to tell a story due to it’s temporarily nature.
I want more story and adventure at my own time with challenge and I feel that the Personal Story, Story Dungeons and even the GW1 Story Missions were the best formula to tell a story. So what’s happening?

I wish ArenaNet would just tell us about this situation. It’s been 2 years now.

GW2 is currently at a situation where while it is still mildly popular (just mildly),
it is no longer the flagship or most important valuable product to parent company NCSoft. Wildstar currently holds that title.

So, throughout the 2 years, after they have already milked most of their profits mainly from launch, they probably don’t think spending extra money for an expansion for a 2 year old game is profitable, thus halt any plans for it and thats why you don’t hear a peep even after 2 years, just speculations here and there even from the devs.

Living story is their alternative to provide content, while trying to milk as much money as possible before they kill off gw2 perhaps. Minimum effort for maximum gain. Don’t hold high hopes for any significant content to be added in the so-called Season 2. We’ll probably have another Scarlett 2.0 or something along that line.

All we can hope is that China GW2 does well enough to let NCSoft take notice again, and hopefully allocate abit more budget to produce more temporary content.

Obviously, i don’t work at Anet or NCSoft so what i’ve said above was pure speculation. But it sure does feel like it though.

My original main was my staff + sword/focus mesmer dealing condition damage. She’s alot of fun to play with despite everyone condemning her. Lots of movements, requires some quick thinking on the feet.

After fooling around for a year on my mesmer though, I rolled a guardian for a change of playstyle, going melee instead of range and i must say i really quite enjoy it. And my guardian is now becoming my main.
(Bonus: My guardian is an Asura, so maybe its psychological, but I feel she just moves faster and does everything faster. Easier to do JPs too. Plus she’s so adorable and hilarious to see a small little creature like her tanking.)

I’d recommend the guardian as your main since you mentioned that you already like it. Greatsword is fantastic and bring lots of useful skill to the fight. If you need range, switch to Scepter/Focus.

For healing, i use “Shelter”
For levelling and moving around fast, i use “Retreat” + “Save Yourselves”
Judge Intervention is fantastic for closing gaps and instantly recovering from Knockbacks.
Elite skill for me is “Renewed Focus” to get a breather due to 2s
of Invulnerability + re-charging all my virtues.

My typical fight style is:
1) Greatsword3 to close in with enemy.
2) (Optional) if i need to pull nearby enemies, use Greatsword5
3) Activate Greatsword4,
4) Activate all Virtues
5) Activate “Retreat” + “Save Yourselves”
6) Greatsword2 for whirling slash
7) Activate Elite Skill “Renewed Focus”
(If you are taking heavy damage even before you use this, move away and switch to Scepter/Focus fast to get some distance and do some healing. If you are not damaged, continue on to Step 8 )
8) Re-activate All Virtues
9) Use Greatsword4 or Greatsword3 (Which should be ready by now)
10) Greatsword2 for another round of whirling slash.

This combo should be able to kill most enemies without your HP dropping.

Grind and crush Trahearne into a salad, and Mordremoth munching on him,
while having him scream “Thiiiiissss woooon’tttt eendddd welll……..bleagh”

Absolutely BEST WAY to kickoff a great season and at the same time remove
an utterly detestable character. I can imagine the loud cheers among everyone.

Bazaar of the rehashed content isn’t what alot of people are looking for.
Expect the same cheesy storylines and zerg style gameplay with the checklist achievements for LS S2.
Expect gemstore to reflect whatever wrapping the content currently is or filled with nostalgia GW1.

Sadly, im gonna have to agree with you there.
I don’t even think there will be any story, probably more of the same achievement grinds and a little bit of re-skin. Oh well, i guess its better then no events at all.

Yeah, because Wildstar developers got so much money that one of the most simple systems in the game that every MMO has, character customization, was universally hated in Beta because of the lack of customization options, which caused more/totally new customization options to be added in later, that were still criticized for being rushed. I don’t see where these statements are coming from about NC giving more funding to Wildstar over other projects. The evidence just doesn’t exist.

How then can we explain the LACK OF AMBITION that GW2 has so far
if its not due to lack of funding from NCSoft?

2 years later and all we had was a feature pack that should have been
implemented at least 1 year ago, a stupid sylvari villian that no one cares,
character dialogue thats just….meh~ and every single event merely another

Good find on the sky pirate leader, its a little small to be a cape, but a nice find nevertheless.

Not too sure about the character at purchase site though. I personally think its just an abstract art of Logan thackary and that red thing is just an artistic sketchy thingy.

I dun think we’ll have capes though because of charrs, cause capes would look strange on them, and i don’t think anet wanna spend that work designing a workaround.

I have been using Mr Prometheus’s Staff build and now with the new changes, i have modified it a little.

This is primarily a PVE staff condition dmg build + sword/focus optional.
(I use sword/focus if i wanna get up close and personal melee or just travel around faster, or need to pull mobs with temporal curtain)

I enjoy this build and although i don’t see big numbers, my survivability is pretty good, and i have at least 3 escape mechanisms (standard rolling dodge, phase retreat, blink)

I normally start the fight with Winds of Chaos, then roll right and left and use phase retreat to generate my 3 clones. Most of the time mobs will be concentrating on my clones.

I will then continue winds of chaos, or use feedback etc if necessary and shatter my clones if they are low on health, or create new ones simply by dodging somemore.

With this build, and given enuff time and if i am not lagged, i can solo Champion mobs pretty easily.

Just wanna get you guys opinion, and if there are any changes you feel would be more optimal to the build. I personally want to remove “Far Reaching Manipulations” but im not sure which other trait would be more useful.

You could be doing it wrongly. I know because when alot of pple are at the place, it can be confusing as everyone could be placing the rocks everywhere and not know what to do.

Do the pattern on the left first, if successful, you will see the screen shake i think. Then do the pattern on the right. If done right, door will open.

Finished the dungeon for the first time with my guild. 4 were new and guided by 1 who just did the dungeon and we had lots of fun. And we didn’t have TS at all.

Sure it was challenging, but i felt the bosses were great. The whole dungeon didn’t feel very draggy (unlike Molten Facility where i thought it was a little TOO long)
There is no need to nerf anything. Great dungeon overall.

The look what I got that you dont have game. Pretty much the whole point of MMO’s, showing off your shinies. But in this case you didnt earn them or accomplish anything to get them, you bought them. Pretty much ruines the competition for anyone else not “buying” stuff with real money, as you’ll never catch up with those who buy stuff with money. In the end its like being in a race and the people to cross the finish line first didnt drive the track at all, they paid the racetrack owner to put them on the finish line. How are you supposed to get people to join this race and try and compete when you blatanly openly allow cheaters in the game? Imagine any other “fair” game did this, no one would compete in it as its pay to win. kitten is this game, no matter how much you want to pretend “cosmetics” dont matter, they do and are a competition in itself getting them. When you let people buy the prize then no one else is going to want to compete in a game that allows cheating. Pretty much the reason i dont play this game anymore. Its pay to win cash shop garbage.

This is not Pay to Win at all.
People do not get any sudden stat boost or powerup when they buy armor skins on the cash shop, its literally just that, SKIN. for APPEARANCE COSMETIC sake only.

If you can’t fork out the cash to look good, then don’t complain. Its like having money only enough to buy GAP clothes and being bitter about others who have the money to wear Louis Vuitton.

Hey, as topic i’ve been using Mr Prometheus’s staff build and had been enjoying it very much. In fact he explained it so clear and concise in his mesmer tutorial videos that it actually rekindled my interest in GW2 to play as a mesmer when i gave up on my elem a couple of months ago.

Hey Colin, i know in your other post you mentioned how Anet is gonna re-imagine Orr and make rewards more rewarding, make bosses more challenging to fight yadda yadda yadda.

But just in case that does not pan out, can we have variations of the Orr gear purchasable using guild tokens or fractal tokens or dungeon tokens or something?

RNG isn’t a problem. RNG being account bound is. People didn’t mind Lady Kasmeer mini or the Molten mini, because it was available on the TP for the luck-aversed. Hopefully it’s similar to the MF rewards this time.

The random groups i was in were helping each other get crabtacular and other crab toss achievements so yea. If people are gonna cheese, you can’t stop them really.

You didn’t miss anything much during FaF or Retribution.

You literally just did a couple of mini quests, listen to a Norn and a Charr ramble along about things that really doesn’t affect you, and in the end do a dungeon with a boss.
At the end of it all, go to a bonfire and get at 24 hour buff.

Don’t worry about the upcoming Southsun event.
It’ll probably be more mini quests, some crab throwing minigame and finally end with another dungeon. You’ll probably also be upleveled to lvl80 to do the dungeon like the same as the FaF dungeon.
