The new trailer looks absolutely fantastic. I can’t wait to see what ArenaNet brings us. I hope it lives up to the suspense of the trailer.
And as for the details of the trailer, obviously it looks like Scruffy’s been destroyed and Taimi is powerless with only Braham to protect her. Then there’s the fact that the Pale Tree looks like it’s going to be attacked (although I don’t think it’s going to be completely destroyed).
Either way, looks like a fun update.
Trahearnes Wyld Hunt isn’t to killl Zhaitan, it’s to cleanse Orr. Obviously that hasn’t happened.
Actually he has started the ritual that will cleanse orr. It just takes time.
Actually, he has cleansed Orr. The game world simply doesn’t represent that. If you look back at the dialogue in the personal story, it’s clearly stated that he cleansed Orr in the Source of Orr mission. That doesn’t mean the Risen will disappear immediately, but it does mean that life can return to Orr. Keep in mind that the Risen aren’t the only dead things in Orr. Orr itself is implied to be dead until the events of that mission.
There is absolutely nothing constructive about this thread. At least the people who cared enough to voice their criticism have given ArenaNet feedback to reflect on for how they can improve, whether it was all warranted or not.
So you’re saying it’s not constructive to maybe suggest we, as a community, step back a bit and think to ourselves whether some of the issues we are complaining about are really worth complaining about?
This entire thread was meant to be humorous, but people seem to have taken offense to something that shouldn’t even be taken offense to. Is it really that offensive to suggest, albeit in a joking manner, that perhaps we should focus on more important things?
Like the original post says, we jump the gun on updates and threaten to quit, etc. all the time. That is what this thread is aimed at. You’re telling me jumping the gun on updates is something not worth talking about, something that should never be questioned whatsoever?
I feel like people aren’t even reading the entire thread…
Another thing I want to point out in this thread…
The Biconics are nothing like Scooby Doo. And the parallels the OP draws are nitpicky at best, but the context just isn’t the same. You don’t see a human being strangled horrifically by a vine in the most heinous way possible in Scooby Doo, nor do you see entire cities get destroyed and the members of the Scooby Doo cast saving the city.
Also, while Job-o-Tron is amusing, he is definitely not the kind of character I would view as the epitome of storytelling, even in the context of Guild Wars.
(edited by Sorann Peace.9056)
I don’t think their agendas have been forgotten. I remember seeing numerous references to their agendas in the living world throughout the recent updates.
Also want to add, Job-o-Tron’s story was rather corny and cliché, and although he was an amusing character, he’s far from what I would expect ArenaNet to draw inspiration from for their other characters.
(edited by Sorann Peace.9056)
I don’t see what’s wrong about it. All the complaints made lead to improvements in the later versions of those events. So what is your exact complaint here?
Scroll up and read the numerous posts I made answering this very question.
In other games you have overchallenge here you have no challenge at all. And plus in other games most of the monsters you can’t kill in 1v1 are bosses (which you can’t do here also) and dungeon monsters (made to be killed in a group) just an FYI…
Oh yeah, no challange, whatever. And absolutelly no 1v1 against bosses.
Thanks for making my point even better by giving an example of how easy this game turns out to be.
Can you link your fractal lvl50 solo? I know you won’t and just find a poor excuse and continue to troll, but who knows right?
Do you even read all the topic? Im guessing: no, so yeh… This is awkward
You clearly don’t undestand the point.
Soloing lvl50 is not considered “challenging” because the game not only doesn’t reward you, as it doesn’t ever ask you to do this…
Is like doing 1 million laps around Lion Guard, It requires dedication, it requires time, but doesn’t make it endgame content, does it?
I fail to see what you mean. Endgame content is endgame content. It’s content that one does at the end of a game’s leveling experience. It doesn’t matter how challenging it is to you (which is entirely subjective btw), it’s still endgame content. You’re not seriously trying to tell me Fractals of the Mists isn’t endgame content, are you? Especially since that’s one of its primary functions.
This game was advertised specifically as having no subscription fee. Adding one would mean ArenaNet lied and people wouldn’t trust them anymore. I sure wouldn’t, at least. Even if it’s optional, a subscription fee generally implies “added benefits that you can only get by paying real money.”
Unless you’re going to come up with a subscription fee that can be paid with in-game gold as well, i’m not interested in having that sort of a system. And ArenaNet makes plenty of money to run the game efficiently last I checked. Their updates tend to be of a relatively good quality, a good quality that wouldn’t be available if they didn’t have the money.
So there’s endgame, it just doesn’t happen to be your typical World of Warcraft raiding scenario, which by the way, not everyone happens to enjoy.
But some do. The other items you bolded are, after two years, getting stale for most people. Living story is a two hour event with a laundry list of pointless achievements.
We need more events like Teq and Wurm.
A few of those things weren’t there at launch anyways. Tequatl isn’t even a year old since the revamp, and triple trouble is like half a year old. In addition, I do not want raiding since that implies vertical progression which then leads to a gear grind which I specifically bought this game to avoid. In WoW, raiding is virtually the only endgame, and it isn’t even that accessible for people.
I like having accessible content in Gw2, rather than the elitist raiding system that WoW uses, where people are encouraged not to group with you even though you’re fully capable of running a raid, just because you happen to have an item level that isn’t the best of the best.
So I have been playing since day 1 beta, I come to the game for a while, and then go and then come back, and everytime I come back I am reminded of why I left in the first place… There is absolutly no endgame… You either farm for a legendary or play the same fractals over, and over, and over, and over, and over again… The new LS season added Dry Top as a new map, which is an amazing map, I really like it, but it took me about 1 hour to see everything new in the map, and then about 1 day to get through all the 3 new “quests” and after that… Back to the “just sitting around” content, where there is no point in doing anything other than farm for a slightly better looking charecter…
Is there any new endgame planed? Like better dungeon mechanics and stuff?
I feel like right now this game as no way to keep anyone interested in it for more than a few months…
No endgame? Are you kidding? Just because the endgame isn’t something you happen to like or be familiar with doesn’t mean there isn’t endgame. And dungeons aren’t the only thing you can do at endgame. You can make a legendary, for example, collect skins, complete achievements and earn titles, collect minis, compete in world vs. world, play through sPvP, participate in living world content, such as new story episodes for example, create and run an alt, organize to fight tequatl or the triple trouble wurm, find/create ascended gear, participate in a roleplaying guild, run guild missions, etc.
So there’s endgame, it just doesn’t happen to be your typical World of Warcraft raiding scenario, which by the way, not everyone happens to enjoy.
(edited by Sorann Peace.9056)
No, no, and simply put, no.
This game should not have a subscription fee attached. It was advertised as specifically buy to play. Adding a subscription would cause many players to quit and the game revenue would, ironically, very likely drop.
Thanks for the source. I read it thoroughly in addition to some of the comments that were posted below. I’ll probably look into it more tomorrow, when it’s not so late. Perhaps a comparison of that to a game that belongs to a genre that isn’t generally sub-based (like skyrim, perhaps) might give a better idea of GW2’s popularity, since GW2’s revenue structure is far different from most p2p mmos or heck, even f2p mmos for that matter.
As for the topic of this thread specifically, I suppose we’ll just have to agree to disagree. This largely comes down to a matter of subjective opinion, unfortunately, and one’s personal interpretation of a story. And because of that, i’m not sure what else to say besides what I’ve already said.
Either way though, I hope you find a game you enjoy. There’s a lot of games out there.
True. The living world does focus on the world as a whole quite a bit, hence the name. But, even so, I’ve found there to be a sort of balance between both. And to be honest, at least to me, the prospect of a “living world” is a rather interesting thing, and it’s also one of the things they promised. Originally, the dynamic events system was advertised as a means of creating a “living world” though it’s been debated if that has actually succeeded.
I suspect the living world system might be their way to create a living world that wasn’t accomplished through the dynamic event system. And I think they’re trying to balance a PS type story (with the biconics, kiel, evon, you , etc.) with said living world (kessex and LA destruction, molten alliance, queen’s jubilee attack, etc.)
As for the earnings, I’d like a source for that. Not because I think it’s somehow necessarily incorrect, but I wasn’t aware of the report so seeing the source would be nice to sate my curiosity.
… TAKE MY MONEY!
-throws money at the wall-
Erm… sorry. My bad. Seriously though, combine this with the idea that Rytlock might meet Rurik in the Underworld and have Rurik cleanse the Foefire and I’d be sold.
It’s sad to see that you feel that way about the game. Many others feel that way as well. Personally, I’ve never felt like my story was taken from me. Sure, I might share that story with others, but apart from the fact my character has no voice (which is due to technical limitations according to ArenaNet), I never really felt like my character was taken out of the spotlight, so to speak.
Even in Orr, Trahearne and many other members of the Pact praise you for your acts. They make you feel like you’re the center of the story. Or, at least they did for me. Did you ever get to the end of the Personal Story, where literally everyone is bowing down to you, and when they talk to you they treat you like you’re the hero? One guy even nicknames you. I think it was “Dragonslayer” but I might be remembering that part wrong.
May I add something in here? Personally, I sort of disagree. Here’s why:
Since when are important characters important from birth? Even Destiny’s Edge wasn’t.
Did you ever read the books? I didn’t read them, but even I know the overall plot of them. Simply put, Destiny’s Edge started out roughly the same way the biconics did to some extent, and then made their way into being famous. Hell, even we, as player characters, started out relatively unimportant in our respective racial storyline and it isn’t until we interact with people who are already important (Destiny’s Edge, for example), that we become important.
If it weren’t for meeting and getting to know our respective racial mentor (Rytlock, Caithe, Eir, Zojja, Logan), we never would have been placed in a position with the orders. In-fact, it’s our racial mentor that refers us to them. I doubt they would have considered us as PCs had a member of Destiny’s Edge not recommended us to them.
It is in the same way that a member of Destiny’s Edge helps us become famous, that we as PCs help the biconics become famous.
EDIT: Want to note there is actually one good point you make, and that has to do with the PCs and their seeming unimportance. You’re right when you say that the Commander should be considered as much more influential in the story than it has been, but to say that we are “above the biconics” and that “we are friends with better people” for example, just… no.
(edited by Sorann Peace.9056)
There will always be someone unhappy about something in the world. So what you did is pick out those opinions and completely disregard and constructive criticism or even the praise. I could make a list with all those releases and list the praise that they got (because, they did.. it seems you missed all that.)
So what exactly does this narrowly-focused post achieve other than to be inflammatory?
It’s primarily meant to point out that we complain so much that it gets to a point where we, as a community, should sort of step back and think to ourselves, “?Is it really worth complaining about petty issues like this?” And I’ve already said I do think there is constructive criticism, and I have seen praise as well. But be honest, how much of either of those is there compared to the massive amounts of complaining that has been a feature of the living world forums for ages now?
And I think people missed the point on something. This is in the living world discussion forum for a reason. It’s directed at complaints about the living world in general. Points regarding engineers aren’t involved in this. If they were, I would’ve put this in the General Discussion forum.
Edit: Want to clarify what I mean by “living world in general” in this post versus a previous post, since I just noticed today the apparent hypocrisy due to lack of context. The previous post was referring to the living world as an entire concept, this post refers to the living world updates all encompassed into a summary. The same wording can be applied to both, but I don’t think I made the difference clear.
(edited by Sorann Peace.9056)
So, I was reading the story journal text for the most recent updates to living world. One thing stuck out in particular. In the text for “Entanglement”, there’s a line where it says “Rox made an offhand comment about Taimi. I think the kid is getting on her nerves.”
I also remember Rox in one of the instances where you enter scarlet’s little dry top hideout, where she tried to argue with Taimi over whether Scarlet was inherently evil or not. She had a distinctly annoyed tone to her voice that I didn’t catch quite at first. And in the Concordia Incident, I remember her speaking a bit ill about Taimi at the beginning, which is what I think the text is referring to.
And this isn’t limited just to Rox and Taimi, Kasmeer is also mentioned as being annoyed with Marjory. In the story journal, it specifically says, “I could tell Kasmeer was upset that Marjory is leaving her behind while she takes care of funeral arrangements for her sister. The relentless fighting and sudden loss is taking its toll on their relationship.”
So my question is… is this a hint at tension between the biconics beginning to form? Perhaps the next time Kasmeer and Marjory meet they won’t be so lovey dovey anymore? It sure seems like that’s what’s being hinted at.
On the off-hand, I liked how Braham sort of reconciled with his mother during the latest episode.
Reading Ask-Marshall-Trahearne Tumblr page and all the memes associated with him, really made me love Trahearne all that much more.
For any of you who didn’t know, Trahearne is a grumpy alcoholic who makes wonderful, drunken love with Riannoc.
How could you not like this guy!?
+1 Internetz to you, my good sir.
I don’t seem to see these problems. And before you say i’m fanboying anet, I do have some problems with the game in some regards, but a lot of the complaints simply don’t come off to me as extremely terrible. Some were actually positive, imo, such as Aetherblade Retreat’s difficulty. I was astonished that people decided to stop running it. But then again, isn’t how enjoyable a game is totally subjective?
You can’t make an objective argument for the enjoyability of a game apart from what number of people hold x opinion and what number of people hold y opinion, which still doesn’t prove whose right. You say they’re legitimate, and yes, I actually do think some of them are legitimate, but I pointed them out anyway for the purpose of the post.
But there’s a magnitude of complaints that get thrown around that make no sense to me. One of the most egregious and nearly infuriating for me? The trahearne stole the ps one. That makes me want to rip my hair out everytime I see it (I actually wouldn’t, i’m not stupid, but still.) I think you get the point.
Got to agree you can’t claim something was TOO hard when plenty of people were able to beat it? The tec issues were the only issue that I agree with all the rest was you just whinny.
Ah, right, I forgot about the tech issues. I do remember the frustration of Kiel deciding to go “Look! I’m not gonna proceed! GG guys!” But there were a lot of people who stopped doing it because they claimed it was too hard, as well, rather than because of the tech issues. At least, if I’m remembering correctly. Which, to be honest, though glitches and bugs are frustrating, as long as they get fixed, I really don’t care. Just don’t take like six months for it unless it’s a genuinely hard to fix problem.
And the likelihood you’ll be in the right place and right time for it is slim at best.
And with that you have expressed the very issue.
This is not a 2 year old world of warcraft instance/raid that can be redone for the achievement. This is a barely a month old ongoing event with a criteria that will be impossible to fulfil unless you “happen to be in the right place and right time”.
What kind of explanation is that anyway? Right place and time? What is this, a lottery? Also: To get to tier 4 you would require at least 50 players doing events all over the map. Now tell me about a guild which is willing to do that when they do not need anything from there. It wont happen.
The grind factor on these weapons is high, combined with the addition Tier based strain on the recipes, the chance of ANYONE EVER redoing this, is near zero.
When you add that it would take 50-100 ppl to pull it off, it becomes bs.
I most definitely agree with you there.
I’d rather Destiny’s Edge be dismantled, permanently. I don’t mind them as individual characters (some more than others), but as a team I find them insufferable.
Really? I actually don’t happen to mind Destiny’s Edge as a team. In the personal story they might start out slightly annoying the first time they meet, but they always seemed to come off better in later stages of the story (including Living World.)
No, no, no. More dialogue is better. I play the Living World episodes for the story, not for the achievements. The achievements are fun little things to do after I complete the story, but they are far from being the main reason I play each episode. That, and I also happen to like weapon and armor skins, so those sorts of rewards tend to draw me in as well. And I love titles, give us more titles, ArenaNet!
Unfortunately, the thing about the summit, for me, is that we should have had this type of storyline happen during the personal story, not two seasons into the living world. The fact that the leaders are only just now being called together to unite is sort of odd. I mean sure, we united the orders, but the entire premise of the game was uniting the five races, not three orders.
It’s nice to have a tie back to the original trailers for Guild Wars 2 before the game launched, but I feel it’s a bit late in the game to be tying ourselves back to it. Storywise, at least. We should’ve done all of that in the personal story when we were getting ready to fight Zhaitan.
Eventually Dry Top might need guilds to get up the numbers. Nothing wrong with that.
Except there are no guilds, no players, no nothing.
Well there are, but there’s not many that would likely be willing to go out of their way to do a Dry Top run. And the likelihood you’ll be in the right place and right time for it is slim at best.
People are doing the living story as it is new. After that some will return to Dry Top.
Eventually Dry Top might need guilds to get up the numbers. Nothing wrong with that.
I think there is something wrong with that. In a game where content is supposed to be accessible to as many people as possible, I don’t want this to turn into the classic World of Warcraft scenario where you need a guild to do most of the endgame content and have any fun at all.
We need to be avoiding those situations, not adding more of them. That’s not what this game is about. I already have enough problems with the way Tequatl and Triple Trouble are being handled in-game right now. I don’t want my ability to get a cool skin to be reliant on having a guild.
Don’t get me wrong, having strategy be a thing for world bosses is great, but I prefer it if we have PUGs doing it, but as it is the only people doing tequatl or triple trouble most of the time are TTS and sometimes AARM. Not good, imo.
This is what I was afraid of. I was hoping perhaps that they would change it so that you’d be able to get all the rewards at tier 1 and that each tier afterwards would reduce the cost of the items, but that doesn’t appear to be how they did it. It sucks, to be honest. I still need my ambrite weapons.
Troll post/thread. Ignore.
So because you don’t agree with me it’s automatically a troll post? Way to use the word troll as a buzzword. It’s awfully annoying when people use the word troll without even knowing what it’s supposed to mean. If anybody’s the troll, it’s you.
If you want to see some constructive criticism, visit the infamous Hobosack thread in the engi forum. It is now well past its first anniversary heading strongly towards the second.
You’ll find lots of great ideas there how to alleviate a longstanding problem for the engineer class concerning the endgame content that is cosmetics . We even got a dev to post there some time in the past
You may ask what this does have to do with complaints about the content you posted above. Well at least half of those content updates held a backpiece as a reward.
Now the latest update lets you collect/craft items to build what?
Quick question. When did I say that wasn’t constructive criticism? Why do people assume I don’t think there is constructive criticism? The whole point of the post is to point out how we complain about nonsensical things all the time. If something does make sense, then I have zero problem with pointing it out, so long as you aren’t whining and actually providing constructive criticism.
Also, I don’t play engineer and never frequent the engineer forums, and this is directed at complaints on this forum, not that of other forums. I know very little of what goes on in other forums because I rarely ever frequent them.
(edited by Sorann Peace.9056)
I think some people enjoy posting on the forums more than they enjoy playing the game. In fact, I’m sure of it considering how many post that they no longer play the game, even.
Go figure. /shrug
I actually happen to be a bit bored of the game lately and with no other games around to keep my interest, well, I resort to the forums! But, I will likely get back in the game in a few days. Still need my ambrite weapons and backpiece. So many geodes to farm…
Back on topic though, I agree, a lot of people who come on to the forums do so more often than they play the game. I think some flat out don’t even play the game at all, as per a post I vaguely remember from a while back when someone said exactly that about themselves, yet they were giving opinions on the game.
And like I’ve already said, there is constructive criticism to make. Some things just aren’t constructive though, which is the purpose of the post.
Want to quickly note: the guy who told me I was being intellectually dishonest, as if I was trying to intentionally give the reader false info… that was not my intention at all. I suppose he took it that way because he happened to see something that he thought I automatically had to have seen. Which is kind of odd to assume, to say the least.
I would be happy if they brought back the SAB for another month or so, but if it doesn’t happen then I really don’t care either way. If it will happen, it will happen. SAB’s so far in the past for me that if they announced world 3 now I would only be slightly happy. I wouldn’t be ecstatic at all. Not because it’s bad, but because long waits can cause things to lose their charm, at least for me.
As for when it is coming back, who knows. When ArenaNet says it’s coming back, I suppose.
While at one point I was opposed to having GvG in Guild Wars 2 (this was back at launch/beta), I have since come to realize that adding new game modes would only further enhance the experience, so I support. My only request is that if it is implemented, that it not be required to get the best of the best rewards or something like that. Unless it’s cosmetic, then that’s fine.
Saying “Yes it is back to front” doesn’t answer my question, it merely re-states what you’ve obviously already said, which I’ve already said I don’t understand the wording. As for not knowing why you would want a different thing… I don’t know? For the fun of it? Who knows. Maybe it’s something you’d like.
It’s not hard to look things up on the internet anyhow if you’re really that curious. If you can’t do a simple google or wiki search, then, hey, your loss.
That? I’m aware of that bug, but that’s also a stupid complaint to make, at least if you’re complaining in a way that includes “This is bad. Terrible. I’m lagging. I might quit this game.”
Now if you’re complaining in a way that includes “Hey, I noticed there was this bug in Frostgorge. Just thought i’d let you know. Here are what seem to be what happens when the bug is triggered, etc.” then I have no problem with that. But that’s not the criticism i’m targeting or have a problem with.
EDIT: Also want to add, bugs happen in all games in all releases. That’s far from something to freak out over.
(edited by Sorann Peace.9056)
I have not seen these “legitimate complaints” that you speak of. Are you talking about complaints about the living world in general? I ask because that wasn’t the original scope of this post, but if you want to know i’m fully aware of the whole “living world is temporary. story quality terrible. too grindy.” complaints about living world.
However, while I do think they should have done the story journal idea from the beginning (something akin to it was what I was expecting until we ended up getting living world. Been a sore spot for me since.), I don’t think the story quality was uber terrible nor was it too grindy.
Reasons? The story wasn’t a masterpiece but at least for me, it gave me a setting I happened to enjoy, meaning large, massive battles between a horde of players and a giant enemy/invading army. The fights were pretty fun, basically. That may not redeem the story entirely but it alleviates some of the problems of it to me, in terms of overall enjoyability.
And the grind is also very little in Guild Wars 2. Try playing even World of Warcraft, and you’ll quickly find other MMOs have long been more grindy. While there is a grind in guild wars 2, most of it is negligible or isn’t something required to play content.
I’m with you. While I would appreciate a better, more improved cutscene system (since the old one was clunky in some ways), I really never thought that bad about the whole two people talking on a splash screen thing. A bit clunky? Sure. Terrible and needing removal/changing? Nope.

Greetings! I will now proceed to show you how much we complain about every update, starting with Halloween 2012 all the way up to the april 2014 feature pack. Have fun!
1. Halloween 2012 (Mad King’s Clocktower, oh noes!)
2. The Lost Shores (Uh, immense lag, lasts about two days… is that everything?)
3. Flame & Frost (too little to do, fixing signs, etc.)
4. Last Stand at Southsun (Mini-dungeon too small. Yep, of course.)
5. Dragon Bash (Dragon Ball buggy… horridly grindy achievements [seriously, we have to eat 800 or so zhaitaffy? Wtf?])
6. Sky Pirates (Aetherblade Retreat way too hard. I literally saw the groups forming it drop massively even though I, personally, liked it. But meh.)
7. Cutthroat Politics (Kiel won! WAAAAH.)
8. Clockwork Chaos (Buggy, nobody does the invasions anymore, and of course, Scarlet’s introduction.)
9. Tequatl Rising (Too hard! Nobody can do it! I quit!)
10. Super Adventure Box: Back to School (Tribulation Mode is too hard. Even though it’s Tribulation Mode. Wtf. Oh, and World 2 in general is too hard [This was actually legitimate criticism imo.])
11. Twilight Assault (But, but, you removed my favorite path of Twilight Arbor! WAAAAH.)
12. Tower of Nightmares (Uh… boring. You ruined kessex. Too hard for people to level. And uh, well yeah.)
13. The Nightmare Within (Oh look, the tower itself is insanely difficult to get through! Everybody’s dying trying to get to the top!)
14. Blood & Madness (WAAAH. You left out all our cool Halloween 2012 stuff. I want the mad king’s dungeon thing!)
15. Fractured (Scarlet? Thaumanova Reactor? Wtf? Does not compute.)
16. Origins of Madness (Nobody… wants… to ORGANIZE.)
17. Edge of the Mists (No real content, just some dialogue [Even though that is also content, which the complaints largely ignored])
18. Escape from Lion’s Arch (halo/horns overpriced, people won’t coordinate, etc.)
19. Battle for Lion’s Arch (Assault knights suck! We need the spinal blade backpiece to access the story? [Wtf? No, that’s not true. kitten .], Scarlet Hologram disconnecting everybody! Wheee!)
20. April 2014 Feature Pack (trait system sucks, megaservers suck, pvp reward system sucks, does everything about it suck? Apparently so.)
And now we’re in season 2. How fun.
(Note: The point of this post is to point out how quickly we jump the gun on updates and complain about them and threaten to quit the game and such. After a point I feel it needs to be said…)

You get it from the bag the first time. Afterwards if you ever run the instance again, if you don’t have one in your inventory, Rox will give it to you. I assume the reason is because story episode rewards outside of the achievements themselves only occur the first time you play through an update on a character, and they wanted to provide a way for someone to still get those items.
Also, you’re welcome.
I’m not sure what back to front is even technically supposed to mean. Would you rather they just give you them all at the end or what? Perhaps provide an alternative method for acquiring them? I don’t see a problem with the way they did it. Sure, it might be nice if you could use them in the instance, but the second you get out in the open world it works.
Even if people can’t use it in the instance, it says “double-click to show”. I would assume a logical player would exit the instance and be like “Hm. Maybe it’s the instance? Eh, might as well give it a shot.” but then maybe that’s just what I’d do, because I’m that kind of person.
And to be honest, the only problem is the fact they can’t be double clicked in an instance. Remove that problem and your back to front issue makes no sense, since like a previous poster said, it says everything right in the tooltip.
I’d also like to add that you can’t use the “click to show” function in most instances anyway. You know those in-game letters which have the “show” button at the bottom? Those don’t work in instances either. I assume it uses the same code or function or whatever, hence it being unusable in an instance.
That’s her offering the same reward you get the first time you do the mission, though I don’t think it will give you duplicates. I happened to get another as I already converted mine from the first run through of the instance. But yeah, that dialogue will have an option to say “Let me have it.” and you’ll get the phantasmally-infused residue or whatever it’s called, so long as it’s not already in your inventory or something.
My double click did not do anything. My brain was fine thank you.
You have to be in the open world. Double-clicking it doesn’t work if you’re still in an instance.
Trahearne does somewhat take credit for killing a major enemy in the Forging the Pact mission, but that mission felt more like an oversight between gameplay mechanics and storytelling rather than it being an intentional “he stole my credit” thing. But as for the rest of the story, especially after killing Zhaitan? Nowhere does Trahearne take your credit.
Let’s be real here, he explicitly says “I wish I could’ve been there when you killed Zhaitan, <player character>!” Does that not imply him not taking the credit? If that can count as stealing the player’s credit, then pretty much anything can, in which case…

There’s no end to the leaps and bounds the human species will go to justify an incorrect position… Though I like what that poster above linked about crowd psychology! Explains a lot of things.
I think this is a hint at something coming in the near future. Perhaps in part 2 of the Dragon’s Reach? Seems interesting, to say the least.
Rox is supposed to give you an item anytime you do that instance which is a component for the backpiece. The problem is, in some instances, you have to talk to an npc in a situation where it doesn’t actually tell you “talk with this npc” to get the item after the first time you’ve gotten it.
For example, I’ve done the episode twice on my main, and got all the items again except for the ley-line infused rock, which I assume I must’ve skipped since I noticed the thing with rox is easily skippable too if you aren’t paying attention.
Ahh, so it’s Rytlock. I still haven’t done the new story yet, but looking at the achievements I knew instantly that a male was going to die/disappear. Given our limited cast, it was either going to be Rytlock or Braham.
I’m sure that he’ll be fine though. He’s Rytlock! He’s probably just gone to kick down some poor kid’s door and tell him to buy a SAB Entertainment System.
This guy knows his references! +1 Internetz to you, good sir!
(Hint: He’s referring to a particular commercial on a particular april 1 release on a particular year involving a particular charr and a particular kid and a particular critter rampage.)
I still see groups forming for Honor of the Waves in the LFG tool every now and then. Not constantly, of course, but they do pop up. Although it does seem like Ascalonian Catacombs and Citadel of Flame tend to be the dungeons that people run the most, which is sad considering there’s something special about every dungeon, in my opinion.
Second to those two would have to be Arah, probably, although people running Arah seems to have dwindled a bit as well.
Is it just me or does barely anyone do Honor of the Waves anymore? Some people may do path 1 but I have yet to find a party that wants to do paths 2 or 3. It is very sad, it used to be a popular dungeon but now it’s deserted. They need to do what they did to Twilight Arbor here as well. Unfortunately the living story is not going into the Shiverpeaks which means nothing will happen to the dungeon for a long time… Maybe they can make the pay out for doing the paths more than just 1 gold.
No one runs them because the paths are friggin annoying, with the endbosses of p2 and especially p3 being the epitome.
I don’t run dungeons very often, I usually just take a look at the lfg tool every now and then out of boredom, but to be honest, most of the dungeon runs I’ve done were enjoyable, minus the ones where people think they have to be jerks to get anywhere in a dungeon.
Then again, that might simply be due to the fact that I don’t run dungeons very often, so there isn’t enough time for me to get annoyed by any of the bosses.

Make them all! You have 4 more slots – one for each of the Professions you have mentioned.
Play what you like. Why would you play anything but what you find enjoyable?
I agree with the post above, except I want to add in the fact that you probably shouldn’t make four characters all at once.
That is, unless you want to feel overwhelmed by having a bunch of characters which still need to be leveled…
It’s bothered me in every game except EverQuest where you could turn particle effects off . . .
Sadly, people like seeing the pretty lights.
I don’t think it’s that people like seeing the pretty lights. I think it has more to do with the fact it isn’t a major issue. I certainly don’t have problems with it, and I can see tells just fine on most bosses. And yes, I do have my graphics set to max.
That, or I might just be more adept at seeing through it than most people are. Who knows.
