i don’t know how supportive can all the classes be but i had the pleasure of doing fractals with a suport elementalist. He had no damage and played mostly with water but nobody got downed the entire fractal run. He was all over the place with heals and condi removal. I don’t know elementalist skills and how he was doing all that healing but it was really impressive to see someone keep people alive so well.
You might want to check out elementalist if you are looking for a good support class.

I have mixed feeling about Time Warp, is it really that valuable or how are you using it (on your self or on the monsters?)

So I am guessing the 1 second of double attacks is for a large group around a champ? Otherwise for solo or 2 players I may be at a distance the 1 sec on me is not that valuable, and monsters just run out of it if cast on them.

So what am I missing? they is this an Elite skill with very long cool down?

The long cd was justified because quickness had 100% atk speed increase before, but they nerfed it to 50% and while all the other classes got some kind of compensation for the nerf TW remained the same for mes. I don’t find it usefull atm, 50% atk speed for 10 sec on 240 sec cd is not that impresive, i prefer 2 use mass invi in case of trouble. Having a skill that i can use once every 4 minutes for a 10 sec area buff is not my ideea of a skill i should equip.
They should add a reflect projectile to it or buff it in some way or maybe reduce the cd on it to make it viable again at least in some areas of the game. I rarely see it being used anymore by mesmers even in dungeons.

How about a game mode where there are 2 teams of 5 people. Fights are just 1v1 and when one member of a team dies another instantly replaces him. Last team to have people alive wins. People should be able to spectate the fight until their turn comes but they should not be able to change skills/traits or weapons in order to counter the enemies build.

I think i should clarify on the ideea a bit more seeing as some of you might have misunderstood it a bit. My suggestion is that the summons not die after the npc death and could be summoned without target and they should pick up the players target in order to improve the pve experience because we all know lvling as a mesmer is a hard job, but i did not suggest that they would follow the mesmer while moving around the map. My ideea is that they would be stationary like engi turrets and fight in a certain radius. Without the player to target and attack anything they would be inactive and just provide the mesmer with the passive benefits that come from certain traits.
While moving away from the summons any new summons would replace the ones furthest away.
I understand that running around with 3 summoned phantasms would be way to op and that was not what i wanted to suggest. I am sorry if i didn’t explain my ideea properly. Do you still think it would be OP with stationary summons ?

I am wondering if this would be op, or it would just increase the quality of life of the class.
I would imagine various instances in which this would be fun and usefull, one which comes to mind is maybe intimidating some roamers in wvw from attacking a supply camp with numbers.
Also we have a few traits that benefit from our illusions being alive, like Chaos 3 or Inspiration 6. I would enjoy the option of summoning my illusions somewhere safe so i could use the speed provided by the trait while roaming the map.
What do you guys think about this?

Mesmer swiftness from focus does not add up with swiftness from other sources and is not replace an older swiftness buff even if the current swiftness has a shorter duration left.

How would you guys feel about the removal of conditions from the game. I think removing conditions and adding some boons to replace some of them would increase many aspects of the game including pve. I do see the necessity for the current condition system atm. because it’s the optimal way of taking out bunkers, condition damage ignoring armor, but what i propose is that condition damage would be the same as normal damage.
You could spec for condi damage the same way you do now but it wouldn’t apply the condition it would just deal the damage directly, not dot. This way condition cap wouldn’t be a problem in pve anymore, taking out bunkers is the same for a condition build, and the condition removal skills can be turned into buffing skills which would improve the support game style in the game.
I know this means major work on Anet’s part but i think it would improve the overall quality of the game.
Leave your opinion on this matter with an argument be it pro or against it.

No one uses Adrenalin skills?… Have you seen Hammer Longbow?

Basilisk venom is awesome, especially with Lyssa Runes. 1.5sec stun can be all the time a Thief needs to kill someone.

You want to talk about unused bad Elites, how about the Guardian Tomes.

Let me read you a book and cast these incredibly slow clunky spells while I err get CC’d and focused.

i may have not given the right examples, but my point is still the same, i think most players agree that elite skills need to be looked at.

I would like it if in the next balance patch some devs could take a look at the current elite skills. The fact that they are grossly unbalanced after all this time is a bit worrying. Some elite skills i bet have never been used by players ever. I can understand balancing classes is a bit hard but each class has 3 elites. I bet it’s not that hard to balance these skills between each other. Overall there are 24 skills and if you take out the elites that are supposed to be used in pve there are even less.
Let me compare elite so it becomes more obvious what i am talking about :
Necromancer : Flesh Golem – hits like a truck, has kd and is on low cd (permanent damage increase to Necro while golem is up)
Warrior Signet : (passive effect nobody cares because adrenaline skills are rarely used and it’s not even that good) Active effect Furry, 5 Might and Swiftness. 3 Buffs that can easily be acquired and striped.
Thief Basilisk Venom : 1,5 sec stun on 45 sec cd…
So if you take a quick look we can clearly see that while a necromancer has access to kd and damage with one skill that has almost 100% uptime, the thief has a lousy stun and the war some buffs.
TL;DR Elite skills are very unbalanced and could use some attention

I would like to see in the item shop an item that would allow me to transform a soulbound item into account bound so i may soulbound it to another character. I think this would encourage ppl to make alts and try different classes. The reason i want this is so i can move the infinite harvesting items from my former main class to my actual main. I don’t like my items to be stuck on a class that i don’t enjoy playing anymore.

I really like alot of things about Guild Wars 2.
I believe it managed to successfully stand out amidst the concept of MMO.
I particularly like the style of the world, art and UI.
I like the semi-targetless system and dodge.

Still, alot of it feels unpolished, but I won’t get into details here.
Instead, I want to voice my concerns on ANet’s current design philosophy, comparing to their claims in the Guild Wars 2 Manifesto Trailer:

Everything ANet said in the Manifesto was spot on what I wanted to see in an MMO, but they seem to have gone the opposite direction on some of it.

I greatly disagree here. Apart from the world, Lore and nomenclature of game systems, most of GW1 is gone.
GW1 was greatly renowned for its extreme customizability.
You could effectively build your equipment exactly the way you wanted; you could play around with builds anytime; there was no gear treadmill and no one missed it.
There was very little randomness in combat.
There was no trash loot – everything was either useful for crafting, or for collectors.
Your superiority over someone else was mostly defined by your skill and strategy, not gear.
GW2 threw away alot of great, solid concepts from GW1 to – apparently – meet halfway with popular MMO standards.

Isn’t that exactly what we do when we get to max level?
We repeat the same content endlessly for the sake of obtaining certain items.
In fact, isn’t the Magic Find stat proof that you intend players to grind?

Isn’t this precicely what happens throughout the whole game?
The same enemy, boss or event repeating every 5-20 minutes?
The process of retaking or defending a point should take longer, last longer and be alot more worthwhile.

Furthermore, the personal story makes you feel like something of a hero for a little while, but in the end the true Hero is Trehearne.
He’s the one who does everything worth mentioning, and then just tells you “he couldn’t have done it without you.”
I didn’t feel like a hero at all in the last half of the personal story.

i just hope they move on from this capture the point stuff faster, i would like to play gw2 but in it’s current state i do not find it enjoyable. Tera’s pvp is much more entertaining and more skill based but i do like the absence of the trinity in gw2 so this is why i am sticking around…. but not much longer

So i don’t know exactly how much time has passed since gw2 has released but i think it’s about time for something good regarding the pvp.
Don’t get me wrong, capturing points was fun and all the first few months and i am sure lots of ppl still enjoy it, but let’s be fair, capture the point is not pvp. I don’t even care that the classes aren’t balanced and pvp is not rewarding or w/e. I just want some good old fashioned pvp. I want to have a team and go kill the other team. As simple as that. Or if you rly feel the need to complicate it blue lord / red lord last lord standing wins the game. I would love for this capture the point crap to pass so we can get serious about pvp and maybe eventually become an esport.

I agree with the quickness nerf because it was gamebreaking but what i don’t understand is why it took 7 months for them to realize this and why was it nerfed with 50%.
They always take pride in not moving fast with balance changes because they don’t want to have a “wak-a-mole” style of balance. It took them 7 months to balance something that has been broken since beta. I am very disappointed with the way the devs handle balance and with all the lying.

I have also been having problems with stealth. Not just shadow refuge but all the stealth skills seem 2 break instantly sometimes. I don’t know how to reproduce the bug yet but it’s happening often.

I rolled a mesmer and the veil skill is beyond useless and not even remotely similar to what they show it to be. Why is it a line instead of a circle ? I can’t stay on the line and remain invisible. I would like for the skill to be made as it is shown in the class description or at least update the video so other ppl will not make the same mistake as i did.

I left other mmos i have played because i was getting one shot by ppl with better gear. I am sure most of you have run into players that you one shoted or were one shoted by because of gear. I saw gw2 as the holy grail of pvp because everyone had access to equal gear and lvl. I am very disappointed to see the pvp being ruined not by the gear treadmill but by something far worse, class balance. Before, i could understand if i was being killed by someone else, i needed to get better gear and it was fair to say if i would have had better equipment the fight would have been different but now there is no hope. You either play a class that one shots or get killed. So i want to point out that pvp is being ruined by traits and skills not by gear. There are many ppl who agree that thiefs and mesmers are ruining pvp so please fix these issues so we can all have a fun experience in pvp.

“Just because you can’t target them, doesn’t mean you can’t kill them” i have seen this statement over and over again and it’s complete rubbish and here is why :
1- no ranged atack can hit a stealth thief because you can’t properly aim it especially a mesmer gs auto attack that does not even fire without a target.
2- condition remove is stealth = 1 condition instantly removed when entering stealth and another one after 3 sec of stealth, if u enter stealth with the heal skill that means any burning bleedin poison instantly removed + 1 extra condition so it’s 4 conditions removed with 1 skill that also heals and stealths.
3- thief movement speed 50% while in stealth so if you can tell me you can predict and kill a toon with max movement speed and invisible which is also trying to run away from you i would like to congratulate you on being to awsome

So first of all i am pretty sure this would make it an e-sport and very fun to play.
Remove the point system or add some new maps that do not have it and replace it with a team death match kind of map. So players will stop focusing on the points so much and just do pvp and try to synergize with the reast of your team. And you can make it round based with a last team alive winning the round. The maps could be open field type maps or smaller arena maps. And also a view match option should be available for other players outside of the server.
Post your opinions about this kind of map if you either think it’s a good idea or not and why.

My opinion about balancing is that there is no balance between classes, everyone can tell you with ease what classes to play for pvp. You will never hear play engi if u want to own pvp or play ranger or guardian or necromancer. There are 3 classes that can pvp : warrior thief and messmer and this is how it’s been since beta with thief > all.

2/10 , only because we have PvP.

No balance at all.
No attention to pvp whatsoever.
One numb and boring game mode which looks like it was designed in 10 minutes.
Only 2 viable builds.
Lots and lots of bugs leaving some classes utterly useless.
No rankings,ladders or any sort of achievment system.

And i could continue for long time but i value my time too much to do that.

Thiefs have ruined pvp for me… and after rolling a thief i don’t rly enjoy owning with it either. Maybe the only place a thief is balanced is in a tournament 5v5 scenario even tho i doubt that. The initiative system is broken to the core and the stealth mechanic. Only place a thief does not shine is pve and he’s not to bad there either. In pvp it is to easy to kill ppl with it and escape. I don’t understand why it’s not fixed yet because ppl have been crying about thiefs since launch and they are still broken and op. Is anet balancing pvp only based on competitive 5v5 matches?

Nice run, and ye, hylarious is timed as a 5 manned fight. Talking about unbalance.. ah wait, maybe Robert Hrouda is gonna post soon how amazing you are and not about balance every class to do the same ( or underpower those curious classes).

It is indeed pretty amazing. To be honest though, this can probably be done with enough practice with any class. Smart use of evasion, blocking, and only dodge rolling when you should. He saves his dodge roll for the appropriate times, weapon swaps to let his endurance refill… It is honestly just really solid gameplay regardless of class.
I’m actually trying to figure a way to do this using my ranger with shortbow and sword/dagger.

i dunno what ranger you have but i can’t even solo the grub he spawns fast enough so he does not eat it

This whole… argument of “noobs learning to play” is asinine. If this move was so easy to dodge and only kills noobs… why is it even in the game then? It doesn’t hit good players and it one shots bad players…

So what do you get… a lot of “noobs” being demolished and turned off from PvP and all you “pros” running a pointless spec when playing with “good” players who can always avoid this “easy” move.

after the interview i was asking myself the same thing… what is the purpose of the skill if it’s 2 easy to doge by good players and one shots noobs. Maybe lower it’s damage but make it not root you. I don’t rly understand how skills are invented but the amount of weird skills just baffles me. Ranger long bow auto attack has more damage the further the target is…. how is that even logical ? does the arrow accelerate in mid air or how on earth would something be more damaging after it travels a longer distance then just getting shot point blank.

i do not like having 2 buy bag slots for each character either because deleting the toon after you get bored with it seems 2 be a waste… atm i have gems invested in a ranger for max bag slots and i don’t think i will ever be using it again so my gem investment is lost. It would be nice if you would at least get the gems back after deleting a toon that had max slots but i don’t think that will be the case.

Those are some pretty big generalizations though. Not all necromancers are condition-based, and not all thieves have passive condition removal during stealth.

What about Stealth breaking on damage, and when you’re de-stealthed from being damaged you cannot re-stealth for another 10 seconds? Would this be absolutely game-breaking?

i like this idea if stealth would not have a timer so you could stalk your target and wait for a good moment to engage.

maybe it’s not that thiefs need a nerf so much as other classes needing a buff, except warriors they are good atm, but rangers and necromancers are the weakest imo. 1. I do not play the game at all but check the forums from time to time because i like the passionate community which lately has been disappearing also on account of all the infractions and deleted posts.
2. After the 16 nov patch
3. I quit the game after being lied to about the balance changes and after seeing that they have no clue about what needs work and what can wait. The nerf to bs thiefs didn’t come and rangers got underwater buffs…. after being promised substantial improvements. Classes are not balanced in a game that all the classes can have any role i find the class i love to play is subpar and worthless.
I do not mind being weaker in a game on account of my gear or skill but i do mind when i spend 500 hours on a char and it ends up being week because of bugs and balance issues.

All i understand from this post is that you do not have a team that is focused on balancing like you do for other stuff. How can you want to make gw2 an esport but you focus on new maps instead of balance. The spvp part of the game is lacking not because of lack of maps but because the lack of balance. Maybe get a team together that works on balance. Make 1 person play 1 class all the time and he should tell you what’s the problem.

Yes, there are some situations where you just can’t get the benefit of your pet’s damage, but this is the case in ALL mmos with pets.

Look, success won’t be handed to you. If you don’t think the benefits of pets outweighs the problems, then don’t roll a ranger. If these problems were as big as you say they are, then people just wouldn’t play ranger, but guess what…

but like I said, if it’s too much for you, feel free to go warrior or something else, but there are glitches and problems with every class.

after reading some of your other posts i can see you are quite the ranger fan boy, but please tell me have you played any other class or you are just posting stuff just for the sake of posting. Take a look at mist pvp and tell me where are all the rangers if rangers are so balanced. Nobody will take ranger in 5v5 tournament just so you know, so stop speaking like you know what you are talking about because you do not.
