You seem upset that others don’t like Scarlet. It’s fine to like her, but it’s probably best to recognize her for what she is and the caliber of writing put into her. You don’t need to defend yourself by trying to make her and her writing out to be something they’re plainly not. Like I said, I like watching awful old b-movies sometimes, I don’t have to try to compare them to Citizen Kane to justify my enjoyment of them to myself or anyone else. They’re bad movies and I like them because they amuse me, but a lot of people can’t stand things like Sharknado, even for comedic value. You like Scarlet, I don’t, and both of those things are okay.

Now, I’ll be bowing out of this back-and-forth between us, as I’ve said what needed to be said and, while I can hope, I don’t really see this exchange improving in tone. I have a pretty good idea why this thread was made in the first place, and I don’t have much interest in humoring any more than I already have.

The only problem I have with Scarlet is her motive. She’s been behind so many things, and the only motive we have is “she’s crazy”. That just doesn’t cut it.

We haven’t revealed her motive yet. I can understand the confusion and/or frustration surrounding that so we’re looking at ways to accelerate the plot and implement some features that will make it easier to track Living World content. The first phase of that system will be implemented before the end of the year.

I noticed that A-Net decided against release the back to school school uniforms.
During most of the interviews at PAX, and the forum constantly bashing the idea of useless town clothes, and they admitted they really serve no purpose.

So I gotta ask cus I am a curious type of person, what is the policy and direction of town clothing?

They don’t serve a purpose, they aren’t worn for any events, will they useful in future?
I come a RP server, most people don’t RP in town clothes.

They are sort of there, and they are ugly… but that’s my opinion.

What would you prefer:

• A purple glow like the mesmer phantasm weapons?
• A black aura like the Tequatl weapons?
• A yellow glow like the Soveriegn and Zenith weapons?

Make a stand? I haven’t seen anything positive on the forums about the Living Story for a long time. People do not like scarlet, the OP says she’s the best but the best from a bad bunch does not make her a good villain.

The stories they are crafting lack any creativity and it worries me. The little short stories found on this site are pretty good, but the overall story arcs are NOT. They lack depth, fail to spark any sort of emotion except boredom.

I never played GW1 but after reading about the blood stone prophecies I can imagine the feeling the players had when they found out that the people they were sending to the White Mantle were not being trained in magic but sacrificed for their souls. The betrayal, trickery, deceit… now there you have a good villain(s). To know you were tricked into sending innocents to their doom would of spark a feeling of revenge, how dare you use me as a pawn for your evil. You would feel guilty for doing it, angry for being tricked, revenge to redeem yourself, satisfaction when you finally plunge you sword into the architect of their schemes.

scarlet? who cares, she’s just some nutcase. I don’t feel compelled to hunt her down, I just want to see new content.

It just doesn’t excite me. Sure, some of the wing skins have been cool, albeit, a little gimmicky and out of place, but whatever, I’m just not really diggin’ backpack skins being a common reward for these events.

Sure, I guess that’s true, and this all probably comes off really complainy (that’s a word, right?) but I enjoy these events, and spending time completing the new content is a lot of fun, I just wish there were some cooler incentives. Though to be fair… Demons didn’t come from the mists, they came from the Foundry of Failed creations and also from the “Mad Corruption” of being locked away with Abbadon all those years after his defeat.

Razah came from the Rift itself…. says so right in his bio. All we can assume is that he’s a collection of consciousness sort of like how the Sylvari came into being but he’s not actually Empathetically linked together with anyone like they all are…

So this could mean a link with Abbadon and Insane characters?

Hey guys I was getting ready to post some info for you, but saw this thread and thought it would be the most fitting place. I’ve been reading through the threads so far and wanted to write on a few points brought up.

Our team’s put a great deal of effort into getting this new dungeon path right, so that it is both challenging and fun. We’re comprised of folks that worked on the Aetherblade Retreat, as well as myself from Molten Facility, so we’ve been putting everything we’ve learned from the past months’ development into what we think is a pretty exciting experience.

There’s a whole lot to do in this dungeon, even after the final boss is downed. Expect some nods to the existing TA paths, as well as a few to previous Living World dungeons. You’ve probably already seen some in the screenshots & trailer released so far.

Our hope is that once you get in there, you’ll see why this is the primary thing we’ve been working on. That said, Halloween is just around the corner, and you won’t be waiting too long after Twilight Assault to see what we’ve got in store for you with this year’s Mad King shindig.

To be pedantic, Tibs was killed by minions and not the Elder Dragon itself. However Zhaitan is indirectly responsible for killing one of my favorite NPCs, and therefore has earned a majority of my hatred

I disagree. I think the most effective villain GW2 has had to date have been the Karka. While people might be annoyed by fighting them (Personally I think they’re really well designed as enemies) Let us not forget that Karka are not only terribly mysterious, but also SENTIENT and OLD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER THE LAST DRAGON UPRISING.

It’s easy to forget those two things because we don’t speak with them, and it’s difficult for us to understand the way their ancient hive-mind works, but they are absolutely capable of higher logic and reasoning, at least in a collective sense.

Karka’s Track record is as follows.

• Invaded Lion’s Arch and did permanent, lasting damage.
• Were beaten back at great cost and effort, but have never been truly defeated.
• Own an entire zone, a feat only the Flame Legion and Risen can match.
• Aren’t in their swan song period of LOSING that zone like the FLame Legion and Risen. Nobody attacks the Karka, they just defend and build walls.
• The only enemy faction to have become more powerful and dangerous as the story progresses forward.

They busted in LA for one evening…
They lost their queen the next afternoon.

All events you just posted happened in couple hours.

In fact who still plays in Soutsun cove if Karak are so awesome?

I can empathize with having a busy life and not always being able to fit my gaming schedule in between work, home life, and social commitments. Your comments are not lost on us.

We’re exploring some ideas for the future, including a system that would allow certain bits of Living World content to be accessed independent of the release. Plans and designs have not been solidified yet, so I want to temper your expectations. But if you have any opinions on the matter feel free to let us know. We’re already looking at ways to leave some LW content behind to evolve Tyria and improve the game. This would be one element of it, should we decide to build such a feature.

You should at all the “Living World” posts … and take the initiative to stop that crazy train and for the love of god add some permanent content.

Being old and cautious, I read who wrote the letter, then read the letter, and then took the box and shoved it in the far back of my bank slot.

There may be a reason why I need a suicide gift… so I keep it just in case.

Let me give you a lesson:
Permanently Recurring = Oxymoron Statement

In order for something to be “re” occuring, it would have to stop and become temporary for a period of time.

Everything you mentioned is temporary. Not permanent.

Overall the story and world remains the same from a year ago, new players are experiencing Tyria from a year ago, just with “theme parks” that go away.

It’s true they reoccur, and they are fun events; BUT players will have to wait for that fun for a year. That is not permanent, I can not visit the bazaar or Molten dungeon anytime I wish. Those were fun events BUT TEMPORARY in a otherwise unchanging world.

It’s like hearing a same lecture from a teacher, but he just does the lecture in different outfits. It’s same speech over and over, and eventually the novelty of costume will wear off.

The novelty is wearing off.

The Temp Content is taking a toll on me, and I used to be the most super excited fanboy about Living Story…
Now I had about a year’s worth of frosting… I begging for just basic meat and potatoes.

This all my opinion, not fact, so feel free to bash me if you feel you need to do so.

I feel like I’m being strung along every time the devs mention things like Precursor-crafting, Precursor-scavager hunts, or guild base/housing. Not only those terms I just mentioned, but a lot of things they throw around in carelessly comments… only to find they are not working on those types of projects.

I am grateful for all the work being put into the game, but I am secretly wishing for more quality of life updates. More emotes, player housing for my trophies, more mini-games that do not require you to find a “mini-game representative” in Lion’s arch.

It’s disappointing to know THIS is replacing actual expansions that probably would have the meat and potato story we are all asking for.

The temporary Living Story updates tend to work against the idea of a living world. Nothing in the world has really changed in the story really (maybe except the arena in Divinity’s Reach), Tyria in fall of 2013 is basically the same Tyria in fall of 2012.

I really would like this game turn from temp content, and actually build improvement story-wise, and quality of life upon the world they already have in place.

I’m glad that someone likes her… to me she is almost unbearably annoying. Every time I hear “Later tater” I want to punch my monitor. I, like a lot of people, expected some kind of twist or something.. a giant event or reveal to explain the secrecy, but no, she was just some annoying new character.. lots of suspense building up to the reveal and it was just extremely anti-climatic..

I got a crush on Scarlet, she is so evil and hot and so evil. I got to say I have a soft spot for villains, but yes she plays hard with hostages… I would volunteer for capture.

I would have loved to have helped her blow up the queen with a giant bottle rocket or smashed with an anvil. Maybe even trick Logan into killing the queen, that would be hilarious!

I am creating a Scarlet Fan club Guild, I really hope you are considering making a Scarlet mini.

I would have would to have played the bad-guy in this story, I really wish there was an evil option or storyline.
