Show Scarlet as a normal sane researcher often bullied by Asura for being a weak-willed soft-spoken Sylvari… she is intelligent but everyone underestimates her, and she has a low-rank job reading meters at the reactor.

One day she shows up for work at the reactor, and then it blows… she burns as the magical energies are released. Scarlet screams then laughs with insanity, and she marches through kills everyone. She is now insane, and displays enjoyment for people’s pain and suffering.

Sympathy for monsters worked well for modern comic book villains.

The title ‘Guild Wars’ refers to the historical guild wars, but it does also draw attention to the heavy emphasis placed on guilds in both guild wars 1 and 2.

The mere fact you can do most of everything without a guild, would counter your argument (not to be rude or offensive, my brother). I do not agree with that the game places emphasis on Guilds, I do not agree a letter from Rox makes it any more relevant.

I am willing to hear an argument where a guild would benefit me in something I really need, but I think it would be difficult.

I believe the push to have players recommend this game is obvious attempt to delay the slide of decline with a population leaving due to the Living World. I used to wonder if the patches of small content, patch-bugs, and gem-store fiascoes are signs of ANET lacking a direction for the game.

While I am sure there are a few people who are taking up the video offer to play Guild Wars 2 (and I do not wish to offend you), but they are the minority compared to the amount of jaded players that want something more than the theme park content.

Player housing, another class, another land to explore, another race, more emotes, new weapon types, would be the typical updates in expansion but there is a serious doubt if we’ll see any of this in any form. We’ll have more gemstore gadgets and gimmicks and that is the ONLY thing most of us are sure of.

The future for Guild Wars 2 isn’t grim, or scary… and it is very childish to say that a game is failing. In fact we have no idea, no clue where this ship is going, after the Fractals patch I am not too sure Arena Net has a clue either. I will wonder if any of the fan-shouting madness is reaching ANet, or maybe they are taking the Nero approach ignoring the screams and watching Rome burn.

There are only things I would like to ask the forum
-Will you recommend Guild Wars 2 to a friend during the “Migration” period?
-Why or why not?
-What do you like about the current Living Story content?

Kiel would have won regardless of which fractal is assign to whom or who provided which discount. Kiel won because she is human. Just look at the % of people who rolled humans and charrs.

Personally i voted against Evon because Evon is a businessman and (more of) a politician.

The attacks only seem random if you are seeing them as a main plot, I think they are really distractions for ultimate goal.

There is a boiling pitch of theories of what she could be doing.

My favorite theory is she is using the alliances for various tasks to build and hide a mega-Thaumanova Reactor to undo reality.

She needs the krait mesmer magic to hide the reactor, the Nightmare Court is still questionable due to Caithe’s secret.. the molten alliance did build weapons, but I have a theory they built something else for Scarlet.

No one has soloed it no matter how much they try to feed their egos on a forum, this is open world, you get help (or in this case harm too) from other players regardless of you being in a party or not, if you think being partyless means you soloed it you need to think more.

I did it and I’m 33, I have arthritis, and computer lag.

This ruse was effective, I actually dropped my guard. I didn’t want to fight Tybalt.

Meh. I don’t even hate Scarlet (in fact, she rather cracks me up), but the desire to connect her to all of Tyria’s dirty deeds is starting to offend the crap out of me.
Nothing personal, LS guys … I know you’re probably worked to the bone, what with the timeframe on this stuff, but it’s got to come to a head soon. Either she needs to straight-up annihilate someone we -the players- care about, be revealed as the unwitting stooge of a greater evil, or be removed from the chessboard.
Please, give us something that makes the girl worth paying more attention to. Hell, I don’t even care if she turns out to be possessed somehow by an Elder Dragon (or some other form of Eldritch Abomination) … it’s something that explains her hyper-intellect and ability to get disparate factions of adversaries to work together in concert.
Another suggestion, for future villains (or even heroes in LS installments) is to actually plant their background story in game. Trickle a bit here, a dash there … bam! You’ve
explained the “major” aspects of their personality and motives. A short story on the website doesn’t honestly work, you kind of have to presume most folks aren’t reading
that. Thus the need for direct in-game clarification/exposition.

BUT The storyline is ridiculous with shoehorning her into every plot for the last several months.

Content is getting weak, story weaker. I am looking to jump ship for many reasons, game longevity, lack of expansion territories, Legendary items are common, lack of RP immersion, and the really bad storyline are wearing thin.

First MMO that looks better, I jumping on it.

NOTE: Not to offend anyone still wanting to play the game, you like what you like after-all, I’m not gonna knock you for it.

Why was this patch better than the Halloween Patch?

I really did enjoy this. I don’t know why.

The new set of weapons, blue.

I realize A-Net has a thing about blue-glow and greatswords, the blue overkill is too much.

The last 3 weapon sets have been blue
-The Zodiac Weapons
-The Pheromones Weapons
-Now these new thistle weapons

We have blue Dungeon and Event Weapons
-Ghastly Weapons
-Dragon Deep Weapons
-Super Adventure Box

I know we have ONE Green-glow weapon set, and a few red but without the glow. So I am asking A-Net, could you hold off on the blue for one patch or two… not everyone is running to color code their armor to match the BLUE weapon overkill.

This I know, Scarlet will not kill us, death will not be marked by the Dragons, the end will not come in the form of the Mad King…

Blue… THE COLOR BLUE will do us all in.

I want to mention something about Roleplaying

I know it may not be important to everyone, but it was be nice to receive more emotes.
Reward emotes for doing tasks would be nice too, and could add for bonus rewards.

More Titles would be great

But Scarlet, she gives you gifts, and admires you….

You are her special Flower… all hers to crush. Snuffing you out slowly in the cruelest way, to savor it.

You mean NOTHING to the other villains, except Scarlet.

Why hate her, she loves you.

I like Scarlet.

But I find people excuses for hating her are the following:
-They dislike jovial villains
-They do not fully understand the storyline
-People are bitter about not completing the clockwork storyline
-They call her a plain “Sue” (the laziest of insults, considering she killed LA council members for fun and tried to cook and eat a grown man, but whatever.)
-Some do not like Sylvari
-The most reasonable of the excuses is that the players do not like her to be only mastermind for most of the actions in Tyria. (This I can totally understand).

I think there are a number of ways to remedy this for all pro and anti Scarlet arguments…

Arena-Net needs to make more villains.

I do think we need MORE villains and MORE TYPES than jovial, comical, over the top villains, the Mad King, Scarlet, Bloody Prince (although he leans more on whining).

I would love to see characters having more depth then what we have now.
I was disappointed with Marjory. I was expect a Sherlock Holmes type of hero… instead she was just another NPC gabbing about “How special the Tassi box is”.

I mean with the WEALTH of epic fictional characters out there to emulate, we only have a handful of GW2 NPC personalities. Most people don’t like Scarlet (although I do), it would be nice to see another high caliber villain, and people compare which villain is worse/fun to fight.

Gives us some cerebral villains, untouchable masterminds, or bogeymen.

The heal skill has AoE condi-cleanse of several conditions, which seems a little imbalanced for WvW. Please tell me that this isn’t use-able in WvW – as I don’t see condi-cleanse in a party being balanced. “poison, torment, confusion, and toxin” will be cleansed – meaning effort by the enemy zerg to stack these conditions will be redundant.

Poison is the main one for zerg play, as it also stops heals from being as potent as usual. With that cleanse being available it just reinforces a zergs ability to stack and blast a water field to survive. This also will counter treb. poison clouds as well, as when they are gone you can just pop this skill and they will have had little effect on your party (past the draining supply effect).

Also, as it removes confusion that destroys some builds (perplexity and engi/mesmer builds to name a few) that rely on that condition. By giving all classes another way to cleanse it, you’re just devaluing those builds more. If you are introducing this heal skill as a way to ‘fix’ perplexity runes I see this as a very lazy fix.

I guess we will have to see when the patch hits how this will impact the game, but adding more condi-cleanse to all classes is going to upset the balance a bit no doubt.

As an Engineer I have at least several condition heals….
In fact with the elixir gun I got one ability that heals and removes conditions, and it works exactly like the skill they are introducing…

I see nothing wrong with with this new skill at all.

Ok, so, much of gw1 lore has never come alive in tyria. Most of old secrets stay as old secrets and we never get to see anything about them. I never played gw1 but sometimes whenever I hear or see something related to gw1 in gw2 I always go on wiki and read it, I think it is much more interesting than what we are currently doing. First of all, you introduced whole new villain that is a fruit of a tree which only flowered 25 years ago for the first time. We do not progress in dragons, even thought they have no relation to gw1 really much. Now, why I mentioned GW1 lore, the upcoming update takes place in kessex hills where the mysterious WIZARD’S TOWER stands, and also some part of Dominion of Winds. Instead of giving a word about it you, construct whole new thing, that is still gw1 lore, but call it tower of NIGHTMARES and by the name and you poem on facebook, more certainly “Your foes and enemies are becoming fast friends” kinda makes me think that you neglected yet another detail from lore and allied up Krait, most xenophobic race, with either Nightmare court or scarelt, or maybe court and scarlet are already friends. When are we going to get some information about things that people really want to know?? There are 4 or 5 more Dragons remaining, a huge secret of wizard’s tower and dominion of winds, huge mystery of alternative sylvari source and maybe tons of other stuff. Focusing living story on opening world secrets would be really nice, it would happen slowly, like 1 event around 2 months, but it would then open more possibilities.

I care about actual GW2 lore, so that renders your argument invalid.

It’s hard to judge Scarlet’s actual popularity. There are a lot of threads and posts disparaging her. But they all are from the same relatively small group of people with an ax to grind.

Then Anet should do a poll on the front page and give a message in game telling you about said poll and see if people actually like her.

I think that wouldn’t be honest to set that poll on this forum seeing how toxic and vile the forum is, from critics seem to bash the game, and/or scarlet.

People like Scarlet, and the haters have to deal.

If there are a lack weapon skin types, chances are Engineers are the ones that weild those weapons and we always get nothing or neglected.

If you look at the Halloween weapon skins they are greens and blues…

Chances are you gonna see a lot of them this year.

This isn’t a new game, we had this last year.

I played as both victim and hunter.
As I recall you could hide as the victim but had no weapons, there was safe spots I think… not too sure trying to remember.

The hunter had weapons, and could place traps like poisoned food.

The game was brutal but fun.

Nope it’s her Hologram, how typically boring, and predictable. I’m waiting for a time when we “kill” her and find out later it was just a hologram or a clockwork knight ZZZzzz awesome writing right there.

What would have been a pleasant surprise and not predictable would be that she would be the end boss of the dungeon and then that would be the end of her. They wrote themselves into a hole there, she would either flee as usual, die, or not be there at all.

The dungeon was fun they just need to make the cutscenes skippable because I’m done trying to follow the Story part of the LS.

If Scarlet would have been advertised as a main antagonist for GW2 from the start I probably wouldn’t have bought the game or played it very much if at all now.

Hope you jump to the latter thought there…

I don’t like this half October stuff with one sylvari dungeon…

I was kicked for being Engineer…

and I was the only one that was wearing dungeon armor with ascended gear, and wasn’t rocking lvl 50 pirate and goober armor gear like the rest of the would-be-party…

This was astronomically stupid on their part, and I consider a blessing to get out of that loser squad.

Well, Scarlet is now in a dungeon so guess you are stuck with her.
