Actually there is already a GVG in guildwars 2. However, the thing is, spvp and tpvp does not allow more than 10 players to fight each other.
It will not be easy to make a format where 10 ppl fight each other, but if everyone is willing to adapt to such a change, gvg will continue despite the blood lust buffs.
Else, it will be a open field fighting with the random thought of having or not having stat buffs in wvw bls.
I’d like gvgs to be 15v15 or 20v20, but I think 10v10 isn’t bad too.
You can also rotate the players involved if there are those who haven’t tried fighting. And there wil be no one to bother ya

The stat boost, while controversial, is there to give the buff meaning in the context of the general WvW battle. Providing boosts like %WXP, etc. don’t have impact in fights against other sides, they are just a nice bonus for you. The stat boost and the points for finishing players mean that not only do you want to have the buff, but you don’t want your opponents to have it.
what game are you playing? because your not playing gw2 WvW.
Wxp gives bonuses which aid players get ppt by making it easier to use sieges, kill other players, survive longer etc.
whereas the bloodlust buff also does the same by making it easier for players to kill others, and be a bit tankier and gain points (by spiking only direct link to ppt).
Both make it easier for players to gain ppt, but also at the same time players don’t only fight for ppt, either way, wxp rank traits and bloodlust gives an advantage to the person who has it in wvw.
The good thing about bloodlust is it’s not permanent since it requires players to activate whereas wxp is permanent once traited.

It’s flipping the opposite now. I think all servers are a bit bloodlust obsessed now and the others take advantage of it.
it’s a good thing, strategy wise. hehe
The problem with gvg is players vs players of 15 to 20 in size duking it out. This simply could be fixed with an in game spvp zone where players can use their gear, not spvp like, and can be done by being brought in tp; so this way anet gets to earn some cash too.
It’s a win win.

True. A group of at most 15, will be good to go to the ruins, and that 15, can roam and split into 3, thus 3 parties of 5 to cap the nodes, unless met with sufficient force – group up again to 15.
And if the enemy zergs up in ruins – it makes structures open to attack. In a sense, there is 1 huge party defending, and the other attacking, while roamers/camp hunters/ruin nodes hunters – small party in a borderland.
some servers can fight back even with the bloodlust buff. how’s it going over yours?
The original tier system was the best. This random matchup thing should have been reverted after having tried it out and it resulted to WVW becoming less competitive and players leaving the game.
It’s good to try new things, and stick with it if it works, and throw it out if it doesn’t.
The same principle should apply with this bloodlust thing. Give it a few days, a week or so. If it’s really really game breaking that players no longer wish to transfer but leave the game, then the devs need to fix this, and do something about it. Because we players pay for this game, and we can easily choose to leave it if it no longer serves it’s purpose.
So, don’t jump the gun guys. Give it a few days, weeks, and see what happens.
I myself am looking forward to destiny, two souls, and other games out there. 
Science teaches us to test stuff, experiment and gather data. There are no authorities in science because they can always be challenged by the scientific method. Which is the rational way of doing things. Meaning, no jumping to conclusions.
We can make our hypothesis, which is – blood lust sucks. Our null, which is – blood lust doesn’t affect wvw. And then get some footage where one party has bloodlust and another one has none, and see if it’s really game breaking. We repeat this again and again, and see more videos showing if it’s a good or bad idea.
So, the devs will see what’s happening rather than our words in the forum.

Isn’t the 103% damage reduction from stacking ram mastery, guard killer, etc? That’s unrelated, but definitely broken!

And that folks is what WVW is at this moment. Will have to gather more information whether this buff really is affecting wvw gameplay or it’s pretty much we’re overthinking it.

the new map overhaul is great i love it seems like a lot of minor sized groups are wandering between them ofc the blobs are in the middle a lot too atm but i think that will die out once it’s not as new anymore.
I kinda agree with the fact that the stat buff is a lot of bullkitten and who didnt know something like that would happen? It only makes the stronger server stronger i wonder why devs implement it… makes no sense
Also the skill lag has become a looooot worse or is that just me? im practicly lagging all the time even when i fight a 1on1 lol wth is this

the rest, though, the map design etc. is awesome. it should have been like, if you cap it, every enemey you kill whether spike or otherwise gives ppt (cd of 30s per player)
and those who are quitting or about to quit because they can no longer do gvg, will stay

I get that you are playing for TC, which is – surprise surprise – leading the match up against FA and DB by a large margin. No surprise that the players on the winning side are having “fun”. Talk about power creep.
I have had countless of small scale fights before this patch (note I am 90% solo roamer in WvWvW). And they were more fun. Now the fun is gone.
Unfortunately for you, we’ve been leading against DB and FA prior to the patch. And surprisingly, DB is really putting up a good fight better than prior to the patch.
It’s really up to you to define what fun is. And if you find the current setup not fun, then it says something doesn’kitten

Please explain how fighting and roaming in the ruins is more fun after these changes.
The side with superior numbers have +150 buff to all their stats, plus +1 to +10% buff to their vitality and healing power via Power of the Mists and much more players all over the map. These are really balance breaking buffs considering small scale and solo roaming. I am mostly a solo roamer, but after seeing how bad this is, I think I will just call it /quit.
A lot of players do not like spvp/tpvp, because it is mostly about capturing and contesting the points. Now the 5 BL bloodlust ruins points are pretty much the same. Instead of having more versatility (underwater combat), we got more of the same.
the terain is fun to put an ambush, you can have 5 man parties taking these nodes and often in tc, we’d fight db and fa other 5 man teams. so it’s a small team vs small team.
and killing each other is awesome, finally being rewarded for open ground pk.
and even if the enemy has or has no blood lust buff, they can still be killed or kill us.
and because of the power nodes, the enemy is sure to return especially if it is their home bl.
so far this is what has been happening.
and unfortunately if you guys haven’t noticed since the beginning of wvw, it has always been about capturing land, towers, keeps – if you talk to that npc guy.
openfield fighting came about because we fight other teams out there. pretty much fun.

now, better server is rewarded with more health, power a crit power, enjoy loosers on weaker server!

So far, I’m enjoying this update because so many people to fight with at the ruins, and if you focus at those power nodes, the enemy can secretly cap your land. Now you have more items to take care of rather than just the ordinary ones.
We’re now forced to have at least 3 parties to take care of the map.
1 for offense
2. for defense
3. for nodes
versus the old ways of 1 mega zerg
and you can still do gvgs, just that both guilds will have blood lust.

I used to play blizzard games, but I chose to gw2 because of its 24/7 pvp system called wvw. Back then I already noticed that spvp is similar to league of legends, but as I was coming from a better dota type game – aeon of storms from starcraft dota, all i can say is laugh.
I love both spvp/tpvp/wvw. Having said that, if wvw is based on pvp, it goes like this. One party has 2 players and the other has 5 or 8. That’s the difference between t1/t2 and lower tiers.
To cope with the coverage issue, all i can think of is, ignore the PPT. They matter a little bit in the sense they give world bonuses, but in the end of the day, it’s all about fun.
Want e-sports, play starcraft. Casual games with jack of all trades style, there’s gw2. As this game is still growing, therefore changing, we’ll soon see if tpvp will fit the e-sports category.
Time will tell.
Nevertheless, I enjoy doing wvw, fotm, and hunting world bosses. You will enjoy your own thing. But it better be because you chose to enjoy those things and not because you were convinced by another person.

My setup currently is a GS/Staff, PVT gear with Melandru runes and a spec of 0/0/30/30/10 and 5/6/11 2/9/11 2.
My friends setup is an elementalist D/D I think they usually run Berserkers gear, just kind of realised i never asked them lol. If theres a better suggestion for what their Ele should run I’m all ears for that too
What runes are you using? And trinkets? Do you use infusions?
Sure, I hope it would be fun. But I’ll soon be able to critique it properly once it is implemented. Since it hasn’t, I reserve biased judgements till then.

A solution where players have to pay for something that isn’t their fault if you guys are correct with the lag is caused by anet’s server. ^.^ That’s more of a graver problem than lag.

Welcome to the stun meta, where condition-immune, 3200 armor 24k HP warriors are stunning you while dealing 4k damage per hit.What it is funny is that the next patch, those warriors will become even more insane thanks to hammer and shout healing buffs. A step into the right direction, I’d say!
I really hope ArenaNet is aware that the meta is even worse compared to what it was a month ago.
We’re now at the apex of warrior OPness. OP in PvE, OP in WvW, OP in PvP. Yeah, they definitely need a buff.
The hammer warrior is one of the oldest warrior builds out there.
Hammer wise, warrior has been nerfed (recent patches)

Whether you’re fiber or phone does not matter. Not everyone has the same speed, whether it be fast or slow. If it were constant where everyone, for example, was running at 500 mbs, then the lag wouldn’t be that bad. but if some where using 50 mbs, others 100 mbs, others so on and so forth, etc. multiply it to as many players in a single zone, then the lag will happen.
That’s just the way it is. Multiple players at one point will result to lag.
This is my comp. I do an action – sent to my model/router – to internet right. It goes to the other player so he can see what I’m doing through the internet – through his router/modem (comp screen)
Multiply that to so many players. The data from your comp is like falling in line to be transported to each of those players. Depending on the line in network – the other players will receive those info. Not all information will be received or others will be delayed due to that. hence the lag.

Yes. There is no solution to it. It happens because not everyone’s internet connection is similar. So, the fluctuations causes lag.
Thus, is the scenario when lots players congregate together in one spot.
Would rather see it removed entirely. Honestly (and this will never happen), I’d rather they remove all of the wxp traits, and replace them with some cosmetic kitten or w/e they want that doesn’t actually affect gameplay.

We all know that WVW is unbalanced in the sense that the server with more coverage will win. But let’s not make it more unbalanced that it already is. WXP made us focus on one hero, a really big irritating update. It should have been like aeon of storms – a mini game in starcraft 2 made my gamers – where a set number of skillpoints that a player can allocated on his or her wxp ranks available to all players; so they be able to choose w/c to upgrade, and resetable – makes it more tactics rather than being their longer = win.
The problem with stomps = points is, an enemy server’s players can send other players to go to another server, and just get stomped for the rest of the week. (will be expensive but it could happen).
The problem with blood is it favors the server with more coverage; so the smaller server will always get pawned.
If those updates were to be implemented, instead of bloodlust, it should just be points like camps, towers, keeps, or smc, or added magicfind – karma boost -wxp boost. or makes the hero look like wearing tonic but can fight.
And for the spike on downed, let it be a stackable increase on wxp gain, magic find, karma boost, gold boost, or what not, or even an animation that makes the character look cool (be more awesome).
p.s. please fix the ability to kick offline party members.
Also add more armor skins (even in pve – i love looking good and more town clothes pls >3<).

The rest of us just want giant open world death match.
It only means each one of us has his or her own preference in playing the game. Some love pve, others pvp, some tpvp, and WVW. And others love playing the TP. ;3
However, we must not fall under the category of confirmation bias.
