Far Shiverpeaks gets my vote for EU. Had to deal with a huge mass exodus several months ago and have managed to see out the tough times (dropped from T1 – T7 but now knocking on T4’s door) and seem to quietly go about their business.

I would hardly say Piken have the best reputation at the moment. The vast majority of their WvW player base joined within the last month so what reputation they forge themselves in very much unknown. The good times are over apparently.

I plump for a bit of Thin Lizzy, some ace bass lines and most of their songs are about getting into punch ups.

nice fights indeed at bay! my first forray into commanding, shame your numbers dwindled and ours swelled but it is our borderland you pesky invaders!

Good times on Piken borders tonight, we seemed to ninja cap everything lol.

That South Bay AR siege was a nice tactical battle shame our numbers dropped off a bit.
Also feel a bit bad for those Pikens who got smashed while building golems at Garrison West. Was one of those nights where everything seemed to go our way.

We’ll be up against it but I hope we can make a decent fist out of this week!

True like late last night when your 15-20 Yaks felt the need to use 4 Catapults to overwhelm the 4 Pikey’s defending ( we musth have looked scarey :P) that last tower in Gandara BL…you could have made it more interesting!! Great fights all around.. Think I like being in tier 3.. To bad Piken couldnt make it to top this time I would love to switch between tier 2 and tier 3 sometimes.. Fun seeing some guilds just run from us here.

‘Great fights’ is a bit of an exaggeration in my opinion. There has been some fun to be had but the good fights between similar numbers on either side have been very few and far between.

Maybe you’ve just been lucky

just pinch them from obscure books / movies / tv shows.

BLAK are one of my favorite guilds to face, they have great fighting spirit. AR borderlands last night was brutal from all three sides!

Would encourage a bit more tactics on reset than just the same old mega golem & sup ram zerg to hills / bay.

Really enjoyed the fights with AG and RS happening around bay in RS border tonight. I’m sure everyone had their fair share of wins, losses and epic moments. We were supposed to call it a night already but stayed for an extra hour thanks to fights we had because of our “one more try” at bay. Really liked the 3-way chaosness happening around there. Thanks for the fun everyone involved!

Gandara don’t deserve the 1st place. This server is full of bad, arrogant and cheating players. RS maybe will lose, but i hope one of the upper servers will kitten your kittenty server in the kitten till death. I’ve never seen so many arrogant guilds on one server together. After some heavy testing I managed to replicate Humanpony’s claim of the hung process. The sad part is that it was only once and I couldn’t get it to happen again. I did sniff around a bit with wireshark and it appears to be pinging what I guess is the login server, but not the ip of my server (Gates of Madness) or the eternal battlegrounds. I can’t draw any concrete conclusions from this info. Did anyone else manage to test it and have more luck?

GW2.exe does seem to stay in my Task manager after I ‘Exit to Desktop’ from WvW on occasions, but I’m not tech-savy enough to get any other meaty data for you i’m afraid.

nothing stopping you joining a friendly wvw guild to try and get a feel for the format either. It’s not like you have to leave your friends when you join another guild.

I think people are confusing some of the issues here.

Skilled play should be more rewarding than non-skilled play.

Specifically in dungeons this means skilled players completing hard encounters, managing to complete instances quicker than non skilled players etc.

The problem with the new system is that it punishes non skilled play to such a degree that instead of a mistake costing say 5 minutes of a team’s time, one mistake can easily add 30 minutes or more to a dungeon or even cause a team not to complete the instance.

This has a knock on effect that the vast majority of more experienced players will look to only play with people of equal experience. If you had a choice, would you let a level 35 or a level 80 play with your group in Ascalon Catacombs? Or someone with green gear instead of exotics? How about engineers, rangers and necros compared to warriors, guardians and mesmers?

Without a safety net for newer players to experience dungeons and learn encounters the risk is splitting the community into dungeon runners, and non dungeoners. Most sane people don’t want to see content dumbed down, made brain dead or just plain skippable. However I feel this is too much of a swing, there are a few good suggestions in this thread.

So yes difficult dungeons are fine, just make them accessible. (Hard / Easy modes, make all dungeons lvl 80 to not encourage exclusion of lower levels in PuGs)

I’d agree with the OP if the content was gated. That is, if you needed that backpack to do anything. But since I can do anything in the game without that backpack, I don’t see an issue here.

Most games that have gear grind gate content. They say you can’t enter this dungeon without having a stat at X or some sort of requirement. Anet doesn’t do that. They have a level requirement on dungeons and that’s it. You can go in with green gear, blue gear, white gear if you wanted.

And since you can do dungeons in green gear, and rare is so cheap, which is even better, I hardly think this is an issue.

I don’t have a single piece of ascended gear, and I can go anywhere and do anything.

Have fun trying to PuG a dungeon from now on!

I would say it’s much harder to get a dungeon pug group if you are not:

Level 80
Have full exotics
A flavour of the month profession

Pretty much totally against what has been fun for the last 5 months in dungeons. Might as well make all dungeons level 80 content only, at least then the drops won’t suck. Booyah!

Had the game been moving in a better (IMHO) direction, I would have by now spent money on additional character slots and possibly other things. But instead as class after class gets nerfed and rewards get trimmed and difficulty ramped up, I’m more inclined to delete characters and boycott the store.

See i’m frustrated with the game too but for completely the opposite reasons. There were no ‘nerfs’ with this patch just bug fixes, so i’m not sure where you get this from. Also it looks to me as though rewards got better?

The breaking point for me was when the number of people with shiny / expensive loot that did not know how to use a combo field with their class yesterday was crazy. There is probably 1% of the game where skill counts, and people don’t need to learn because they can just skip / mash their skills and get quicker rewards.

I think it is a question of what is missing in the patch (i.e ranger / engineer tweeks) than having ‘bad patch notes’

For me I’ve decided to shelve the game for a while after this patch. Battlefield awareness is basically non-existant. Yesterday was a prime example of how a large chunk of players don’t even know how to use a combo field and still run around with the shiniest / most expensive weapons in game.

I will probably poke my head back in if they ever introduce 8v8 / GvG or something like that.

Sorry for the tangent, I just feel although it helps casual players achieve ascended gear it still doesn’t fix a lot of things that I am personally frustrated with in game.

Its funny to read and see glimpses of Piken in Gandara… after all the guys who sucked it up last match and kept coming out seems to be paying off for you now. Aslong as you stay infront of AG… you will have AR/AS in T4… and AS are a dead server… will almost be straight up GD vs AR… which should boost your evolution alot if you do well(thats if you win this matchup) So big reward for whoever wins this matchup and gets promoted… another grudge match for GD / AR with less third party interference

BB & RS matchup is alot less intense than GD & AR

I actually enjoyed the last week of getting our faces bashed in much more than the previous close 3 weeks. It really did bring our community together!

I’m dead impressed with Aurora and DZ, they never give up and show in force. Mid tier matches are where the party is at!

Sorry to see so much hard work come undone so easily. Especially those who put their time and effort into creating (what seemed from the outside) a great WvW community.

Is there any way of predicting the Dusk market or is it completely in the hands of the few that control it & also if Arenanet make any announcements on pre cursor drop rates?

In the current market would you sell up and risk getting it for cheaper later on down the line, or hang onto it and play the waiting game?

Tonight was my favorite WvW night since launch.

Picture the scene: AR Borderlands……23:00 hours…..Our team of 6 Gandaran YaKs stealth capped RedBriar, Dawns and Woodhaven successfully giving the 20 strong Piken sIN the slip at every turn. Finally we were discovered at Woodhaven, when we were spotted by a couple of roaming Augury Rock! Disaster! Cross swords!

Brown trouser time! Urging the ram, knowing sIN would be breathing down our necks we break it down. Quick get that Lord down!

AR had been licking their lips from their vantage point on the hill. Oh how they swooped! But something was wrong… Piken! Cue particle effects in the distance. Lord nearly down…

First Augury came, 15 or so with different guild tags. We can take them. We CAN take them. The cap was going up, up, up. We’re not going to make it. Battle stations. Line of warding. Ring of warding. they break through.

15 Piken! God no! Wait… A glimmer of hope. It’s not sIN!

Mass invisibility goes up. Whoever popped that saved some good men that day. We hide around the corner. Bodies were flying all over the place. The first men start to fall. Wait for it.. Timing is everything….. Wait for it……

Gogogogo. Bring home the gold! The remaing few start to flee. Keep it up, keep it up! cap goes red! Wait, Green. Find that man, FIND THAT MAN!

Keep swinging! Pop that Stability and Stomp! It’s Red again! Don’t stop! Keep them off the cap, YESSSSSSSSSSSS!

The following hours were just as brutal until Woodhaven finally fell 02:00 hours.

I will ask – what the hell is that Yak fella doing on our server. At first I thought it was innocent, then he starts following the various commanders around, and wherever he goes – yak tries ambushing. Had several complaints from fellow commanders about his suspicious behaviour. Dubious to say the least.

I have had a PM from one of your members about this already and will ask the [YaK] leaders to investigate.

Thought you were classier than to start pointing fingers on the official forums Dranul, although it was late when you posted and I wouldn’t like it happen to us if the roles were switched. (Would posting on the Gandara server forums which you frequent not be more suitable and less flame bait? A PM?)

We have a very large guild (250) spread over several servers so there is a possibility this is an honest mistake. We have had a blast learning from the best over the last 2 days and I honestly don’t see what we would have to gain from knowing your movements. Our scouts need to improve a lot, many of our wipes were from poor communication ( e.g “TUP are coming up the stairs! Get ready!”….. “Which stairs? North? South?”….. WIPE) so if this were true we are just hindering our own progress. We want to be the best we can be.

If there were any foul play going on then yes absolutely we want to stomp that out. I apologise if it takes away from the pretty decent encounters we had. If 1% of the guild are making the other 99% look bad then they will get an absolute beat down. (I mean come on, which serious spy would leave their guild tag up and not expect to get caught?)

So yes less airing dirty laundry in public please, send me / Gandara forum a name or screenies. Reputation means a lot in these online community games and mud slinging just makes everyone involved smell of dirt.

So yes the score is pretty grim reading, but the score stopped mattering after the weekend.

Thanks for CM for sticking with us in the Gandara Borderlands tonight, considering our numbers we made a decent fist of it.

I think the reason most Gandarans are a bit burnt out is that we are a very PuG heavy server, and this matchup has become all about the organised guilds which we have very few.

I have a lot of man love for any brave Gandaran soul in EB tonight. Chin up as we Brits say!

Sadly we didn’t even do much WvW last night, queues, queues, queues, and in the zones that had no queues, we had no enemies. Bandwagoners really aren’t healthy for servers.

I dunno, RG seemed to be able to switch Borderlands pretty easily last night. Queues are never fun though.
