I think the problem lies in (a) its the summer and some guilds are short. More so I believe, having GvG’d most of the guilds on Gandara that they took the opportunity to fight people like Fire whom they haven’t fought before.

We usually have to approach guilds every week in order to get a match, I cant remember the last time we were approached – so asking all the time becomes tiresome. We like people to throw down the gauntlet and challenge us. Expected Dius, yak to rematch us. Summer for some prevented numbers. Yak got numbers though :P and GvG’d Fire – just disappointed ya didn’t want a rematch

Pretty sure 2 gvgs in a week is enough, especially seeing as each gvg night we have to leave people out whereas if we stick to our general wvw nights we can include everyone.

Variety is the spice of life as they say.

For me the biggest imbalance is that a lot of other classes’ traits compliment their build where as engineer’s traits define their build.

Engineers lose so much flexibility through this, which is crazy seeing as on the surface they seem the most flexible class due to the amount of kits & skills.

The lack of a decent pve elite also doesn’t help.

I feel the need to apologise on behalf of the vast majority of Piken that are not represented here. We have multiple posts and discussions within our community about official forum conduct yet sadly, you just can’t teach the blatantly stupid.

we felt sorry for the guys stuck on arrow cart duty and thought they could use something to do

impressed with Kodash tbh, you can tell they have a good organised community with scouts in most towers / keeps. would be nicer if you didn’t have waypoints and full supply in every keep most of the time but the platform was built on your weekend dominance so we just have to suck it up and keep trying.

Shame FSP haven’t pushed Kodash BL as much due to their coverage as that would have made things a bit more interesting, but nevermind we’ll keep plugging away

Really enjoying some solo and duo roaming with my engineer over the weekend, still learning the ropes and it shows with the amount of repair bills I had. Every solo fight I’ve had has been against very good players so kudos to FSP and Kodash roaming people!

Looking forward to the guild action during the week, I suspect there will be plentiful lootbags & repair bills for all servers over the coming days!

Bombs and Tool Kit (“Wrench” Kit) for Melee, Grenade Kit and Rifle for range.

Elixir Gun and Pistol are too niche to use while leveling, and Flamethrower is just plain garbage.

A lot of things on Engineer don’t shine until level 80, keep in mind.

Disagree about Flamethrower for PvE content / leveling.

At level 40 you can pick up Juggernaut and Fireforged Trigger meaning a meaty 6-7 constant might stacks. Plus you get easy access to fire field for blasting.

I had a very similar frustrated feeling while leveling my engineer last week. I was running with condition damage, dual pistols, grenade kit & elixirs at level 40. I felt like I was effective as a wet noodle.

After the patch I decided to overhaul my skills and settled on Flamethrower because Juggernaut and Fireforged Trigger only require 20 trait points now which gives a huge bonus in might stacking. I switched over to power focused gear and now i’m breezing through PvE getting to level 50 really quickly.

It’ll be interesting to see how it handles dungeons, hopefully it can do the business!

If this goes on like now, Gandara will drop 2 places (FSP only need like 2.5 rating to get AG’s place / which we will surely have, today even) and becoming 15th..

As far as rangers go, small group and solo, They’re in a good place. We’ve got some nice builds though mostly more bunkery right now.

The problem lies in organised guild groups, when we run as a team we have a group comp, glass eles and tanky guardians for backline damage and stability uptime is a must, mesmers and necros for ground control and heavy condition pressure…A must, hammer warriors are very good and venomshare thieves with SB for blasts….A must, those classes bring things that others can’t, that’s why they’re a staple of any good organised pushes, but rangers don’t have a place bar sometimes using muddy terrain and healing spring for water fields and condition cleansing, spirits are subpar for group comps. Like engis in wvw groups, we simply don’t have a role another class cannot do better, it’s just bad luck that we’re trumped in pretty much everything bar small group stuff right now. As it stands in a group of 10, it’s pretty much necessary to fill 9 of those roles above, rangers or engis are just kind of the 9th wheel and I feel somewhat detrimental to my guild when we do organised wvw sometimes despite the fact I’m running 4 group utilities

Possibly true but which is worse? Your scenario where you have a blow out one week, or the current scenario where half the servers have been getting blown out for 10 weeks or more. I would rather a system of win one week lose the next than lose nonstop against the same server for 10 – 15 weeks straight.

true, probably the lesser of 2 evils. From my own perspective the rating system works ok, but that’s because I play in the middle tiers where it’s designed to work best. The problems lie at the top and bottom tiers or when a mass exodus on a server happens.

I can imagine it sucking pretty badly.

didn’t RiOT transfer like 2 weeks ago? Surely you could see that the ratings gap from T6-T7 was huge and also that the number of guilds to challenge you would be few and far between in that tier?

1 up 1 down would just mean servers yo-yoing up and down with a server sandwiched in the middle not moving anywhere. The extremes would be even greater.

For example next weeks US T2 on a 1 up 1 down would be on current scores:

JQ
TC
Maguuma

You would expect JQ to win massively and move back, Maguuma to come 3rd by a long way and move down again and TC to stay T2.

Both systems have their faults, 1 up 1 down isn’t some kind of holy grail that will save wvw boredom.

Been commanding on FSP since reset, gotta hand it to YaK for being such a massive pain and Dius for very effectively running in small groups. We haven’t seen anything like YaK’s excellent mobility and very fast/frequent use of water fields in Tier 5, we’ll really need to adapt to counter it… It was hard with guild groups on the border and even worse later with only randoms. But hey, at least we kept you busy on FSP while AoA/FSV/etc. were capping everything on your own border
