Belmont.4682I agree with the OP, griefing in the jumping puzzle is ruining the game experience for many people.
People having 50 catapults/ballistae/arrow carts due to completing jumping puzzles and not actually PvPing or doing anything to get badges to actual buy siege weapons is what’s ruining the game experience. If you honestly think you should be able to waltz in and get free weapons of mass destruction at 0 cost then you have another thing coming.
I personally have never done the jumping puzzle and i have 15 of each siege weapons sans golem. It isn’t even hard to at least dot people when you’re zerging and get a ton of badges. I can easily get 100+ badges each WvW session I have. If you don’t like PvP, leave and let someone join who does. It isn’t fair for your server who is actually trying to win if all you want to do is PvE and do jumping puzzles.
If you’re tired of all these hacker rejects come to Isle of Janthir, we do things the right way.
It IS a strategy, it’s just you doesn’t have the enough experience. Learn to wipe clean your base & double check before you defend it. You don’t come complain because your base got wiped by a mesmer portal caused by your own mistakes.
Casue obviously you can see invisible Mesmers and constantly AoE an entire position of siege weapons to be safe right ?
Don’t listen to anyone who tells you to “learn” how to do something. These people are often vapid and full of themselves and do not actually have a god kitten clue of what they’re talking about.
The mesmer portal is used for all kinds of cheap snake tactics like this but I don’t think it’s an exploit and I don’t think it’s something ArenaNet can or is willing to fix.

Love getting ET and CD bads alone and crushing them. People have an overwhelming amount of confidence in a group, but their noobiness shows when you get them alone.
Anyway, loving this match so far. Seems to be a bit of CD/ET teaming on us but that’s to be expected. Surprised the match as remained this close so far and definitely interested to see how things will progress.

So glad CD has 2 orbs instead of ET. Now ET being the middle ranked server is going to get 2v1’d.
^ From what I can tell, hacking is not something ANet ever expected their players to do. You can tell by the lack of communication and action being taken against these people. There are obvious quick solutions like punkbuster(god, forbid), gameguard, yada yada. I refuse to do WvW this week because we are up against two major hacking servers (CD and ET).

It’s a horrible system. The worst. I almost considered buying gems and converting to gold last night because I was tired of having to kill kitten for 30 minutes, hit DR, repeat, repeat, for minimal gold. I only log in for WvW now and due to all the cheating/exploiting/hacking/double-teaming going on I can’t even be bothered with that now. The DR will never be removed from the game so I’ll just have to remove myself. It’s good there is no subscription, maybe if I come back later they’ll have realized what a dumb mistake they’ve made.
During the day events I considered IoJ the worst server we faced in terms of strategy and tactics.
There aren’t any tactics in WvW. Wait until you (if ever) get matched up with SoS. We played around the world with them for 3 hours as they took supply camps and had nothing else to do. IoJ was pretty garbage in the 24h matches but we’re probably the only server who has never had complaints about hackers. ET is chock full of hackers and exploiters (as is CD), so it’s really no surprise you guys thought you could beat HoD; still got pounded.

It doesn’t matter one bit how badly you own X keep/camp/supply. It all boils down to the end of the week when your server comes in last place.
Ya, on the first day of last weeks match when I logged on and saw the scores were like 15k 6k 6k with IoJ being one of the 6k, I decided I wasn’t gonna bother. I think the majority of the server gave up after the first or second day. Can’t really say it was much competition for ET and doesn’t say anything about what that server is capable. Going up a against two servers and especially against the #1 server and getting their kitten wrecked only goes to show that ET (ruin) is filled with nothing but griefers and people who are just bad in general as it took 2 servers to dislodge HoD and you still ended up getting wrecked.
This week’s match was a huge moral boost for all IoJ players as we decimated both FA and SoS even amidst their rampant cheating/exploiting to get our orbs. Servers like CD and ET seem like a joke now.
I saw some pic of WvW posted on these forums and there were 5 commanders on the map.. wut

I get badges nearly ever kill. I have almost 2k kills in WvW and have gotten like 400-500 badges. I always spend them on siege equipment so not sure exactly. I think it’s fine, but the price for armor is ridiculous. Then again, it is the same stats of level 80 exotic gear so I can’t really complain
In WvW, if a keep with a waypoint in it is being attacked, you can’t teleport to it because it is ‘contested.’ In sPvP, when you’re neutralizing a point or in some way contesting it (fighting with the other team, etc), they continue to gain points from that.
Wouldn’t it make sense to make it so if a point is being contested you can no longer gain points from it unless it is uncontested? I think it should be THIS way and not make it possible to teleport to contested keeps with waypoints in WvW for obvious reasons.
WvW isn’t even that much about the PvP. PvP only happens when you’re free-roaming as a zerg and run across a group of 5-6 enemies and attack them. Most of the time you’re doing nothing but mindlessly attacking reinforced doors with 500k defense and 20 million hitpoints and getting exp/karma/gold for it. If they removed the scoring mechanism there would be absolutely no point to capturing anything and people would get bored of doing nothing but cluster-kitten pvp and quit.
It would make sense (not really) to make scoring enabled during peak hours and disable it at night and have it just be a PvP free for all (this soundskitten and I hope they never do this).
Killing phantasms might actually be viable except don’t mesmers have some trait that spawns another when they dodge?
Would be a lot easier if there weren’t 500 AoE attacks that can attack every inch of the walls where siege can be placed.
Not personally there but I imagine the only reason we’re camping it is because of the crap SoS were pulling this morning.
Anyway, attacking people doing a jumping puzzle isn’t griefing. You enter into an area of open PvP and you must accept the risks. If you aren’t able to do the puzzle because there are people from an enemy server there you’ll just have to come back another time. It was pretty dumb of ArenaNet to put PvE elements in a PvP activity when they were pretty adamant on keeping PvP/PvE separate from each other.

was hilarious, for like 3-4 hours this morning we chased SoS around the entire map as they did nothing but take our supply camps. we cut them off intentionally at titanpaw a few times and crushed them in every ‘scuffle’ we had. they seemed more interested in running than actual fighting even though at times their numbers were greater than ours. dunno what was up. with the way their characters were behaving it seems like some guy was multiboxing 30 accounts and would just runa round capturing points and not fighting anything
People just cry about classes they constantly lose to in hopes they’ll get nerfed so only their class will be good.

Using hacks is the result of knowing your server is pure garbage and will never win a match honestly. I find it even funnier that arena net is busy dishing out updates that promote buying items from the cash shop yet there has been absolutely no word onhackers

The thing is, you can’t change the formula. After playing WoW, players have an incredibly strict mindset to what any game they play should be like.
This is obvious when players are seen on forums (these, Tera, whatever) kittening about endgame. I’m pretty sure the concept of endgame became popular in WoW, as people say that the lore means nothing and all they do is faceroll to level 80 or 90 or whatever the max level is and grind/raid/pvp. Then, when they’re bored of that content, they cry about no endgame, more content is introduced, rinse and repeat.
The formula will stay the same forever because it’s all the industry knows.
There is a game that is completely different in terms of questing, imo at least, and that’s RuneScape. There are like no quests on that game that revolve around killing X mobs or gathering Y and taking it to Z. The questing in that game is awesome, and is actually different than the standard questing model. Even so, most people just don’t like quests. There are websites that have quest guides for every quest ever made because people are only concerned with the reward.
Recently a game called Forge entered alpha who’s mantra is that everything up to endgame pvp is boring filler, and so they removed it. You start the game with all the abilities on a character and do nothing but pvp. I don’t see how people can enjoy this. It’s like GW2 sPvP, except GW2 sPvP is independent of the actual game.
I think the main problem is that people are just really impatient. They always use the excuse that they have these really busy lives and have no time to play yet they play for 5-6 hours a day. These kinds of people don’t want to actually work for anything and just want the best gear without having to do anything (see: rushing to level 80 for the “ending” and pvp).
Don’t know how this is possible and don’t know what I did right/wrong,but I recently got level 80 (2 days ago) and I’m still on the level 22 story quest.
^ If you are referring to the two-step verification code, it is incredibly unlikely. Each code is generated specifically for that request, leaving something like a 1 in 60.5 million chance of guessing the code.
What sucks about this is that while I find this mechanic absolutely absurd, the prices of materials would be much lower when selling on the trading post, because people could farm for longer thus there would be more items in the game. While I hate drop DR more than anything I am somewhat glad it isn’t an epic mob grinding free for all, because it leaves some profit to be made selling crafting materials.
I don’t believe that the DE and dungeon anti-farm mechanic is a good idea seeing as the amount of $$ rewarded from both of these isn’t really that much.

This is true, but I don’t think anyone has really considered just everything they’re doing to make money.
1) This dyes thing
2) Dropping a kittenload of Black Lion Chests and marking them as fine to trigger an impulse to buy keys or manipulate someone’s OCD who can’t stand to leave them locked
3) All the diminishing returns. They are only in the game to make you fed up with the crap loot you’re getting and resort to buying gems and converting to gold.
I am willing to bet that every feature that goes in to the game is built around a principle of the player needing to spend more money in the cash shop.
I love this game and I love everything in it, but I think the way ArenaNet handles things is incrediblykitten poor.
^ This is true. Was fighting some thief in WvW and the second he went invisible I switched to SB and used infiltrators arrow to evade a backstab and before I saw him on my screen I was taking damage and heard dagger swipes. Dunno how this can be “working correctly.”
I’ve tanked hundred blades as a thief multiple times. People are getting 1 shot or just being pure trash in sPvP and dying once or twice to the class they whine about and then coming on the forums and crying nerf/SO OP.
Pistol whip, haste, heartseeker, etc, all of these are cheap abilities and anyone who has to rely on these to get kills is pure trash. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve 1v1’d other thieves in WvW and kitten on them because all they can do is spam heartseeker and are totally useless when their initiative goes. I really only think quickness needs to be removed or severely nerfed as an ability for thieves. It isn’t really fair to nerf thieves and leave warriors with fury/haste/might + rush + hb when that is just as bullkitten. not to mention it is often finished by that directional sword spinning attack that does like 8k+ damage.
There are elements of attacking and defending that are total bs. One for attacking is what you mentioned. The other is when the defending server builds a catapult inside the keep and purposely shoots the door to knockback anyone using a ram or meleeing the door. It’s completelykitten
^ SoS and FA are teaming on IoJ because we’re winning. This isn’t how it should be. Wvw should be 1v1 and not 1v1v1. Terrible servers will make alliance and that isn’t fair to anyone. You shouldn’t kid yourself when you’re bad.
Queued on Isle of Janthir for like 2.5 hours before I realized we would just get double teamed by Fort Aspenfail and Sea of Desperate losers so I just closed the game. The queue system is unbelievable broken and stupid.

cleared he murdered some random wolf or deer or eagle gryphon or harpy or veteran guard or one of the other 935 random mobs that litter the map and randomly rally people repeatedly during fights
this is such a problem honestly; there’s really no point in ever 1v1 someone in wvw because of all the mobs. as a thief doing this will get you wrecked, as all attacks on weapons a thief has are multi target

Ya, at level 78 with that heal on crit sigil I was getting healed for 77 each time it actually activated.
I think he’s just speculating. Though, I will agree that it does seem to affect all mobs in all zones. I can also assume that due to the nature of the system and how releasing the specifics of its operation and how it could allow people to circumvent it, ArenaNet will likely never reveal how it works.

I agree with 7, but most of the rest is probably just you playing too many hours at a time. Overcrowding is not an issue for me anymore, despite being on a server that frequently overflows the server is mostly empty now, and other players are rarely seen in the world. Sometimes during dragon events there can be maybe 10 people gathering at most.
I think it is time to start server mergings to keep populations up.
