The only way you can beat a condition warrior as a necro is using well of power and plague signet. AFAIK no warrior utilities apply condition damage so they are free to use endure pain and berserker stance for even more survivability. also endurance signet clears all condis.

Condition damage itself is fine. The methods of application, however, are not. No auto attacks should apply conditions.

Since there are really only three builds in this game: full zerk DPS, condition, and 0 dps support, if you nerf condition damage, there is only one build left: full zerk. You will be getting one-shot even more often if condition damage is nerfed at all.

I feel like condition damage wouldn’t be so bad if control effects weren’t so prevalent. Like, yeah, you’re getting dominated by cheesefire necros with fear, thief/engi perplex cheese, PU mesmer, etc, but it’s also worsened by the fact that you’re being constantly cc’d. thief steal, basilisk venom on 32/45 second cd, mesmer chaos storm/power lock, engi supply crate, shield 4/5, tool kit 2, and so on. There is also immobilize. You can get immobilized, feared, dazed, and stunned all at the same time. 2 sec defiant for players on cc pls.

Warrior is boring and a cheese class. It’s like making an all-star roster in a sports video game with all the best players from the sport. It just isn’t fun. That’s why. If you want a challenge, play an elementalist or a non-condi-cheese engineer. Better yet, if you want a challenge, don’t play condi builds at all. Only just realized that ele and guardian are literally the only two classes that don’t have cheesy condition builds.

Any condi build is pure cheese.

Why? Because of the speed at which conditions can be applied and re-applied, and the ineffective counters of them. Auto-attacks should not apply conditions. No more conditions that apply on X condition being met. Only weapon skills and utilities should apply condition. No more random 20% chance to cause confusion on hit, 66% or whatever to cause bleeding, etc. Remove the randomness and unpredictability from condition application and you fix one of the major problems.

Condition damage will continue to be over the top until weapon auto attacks are no longer able to apply conditions.

Including:
Ele scepter
Warrior sword
Necro scepter

Basically, anything where 66% or more of the chain applies a condition. ranger shortbow is fine because it is situation (behind/sides) and mesmer staff is fine because it’s so slow and the conditions have a short duration.

If a warrior didn’t apply bleeds on almost every hit with sword, you wouldn’t be melting from 25 stacks of bleeding as often. If necro scepter atk chain only applied a condition on 1/3 attacks but with higher stacks OR longer duration, it would be much better. other than that, the application of conditions is not really that bad.

tldr: remove conditions or greatly reduce/rework conditions on auto attacks

Dhuumfire is probably the cheesiest thing in this entire game. Even PU isn’t as bad as dhuumfire. It is a random +700 dps for 7(base duration 4 + 30% spite + 40% food) seconds. that’s almost 5k damage (at least) for not doing anything but attacking. no strategy involved. at least PU mesmers have to actually stealth to get those boons. DF should not have been binded to something as trivial and common as critical hits.

Biggest downside i see with this nerf is that is takes away a big reason for a condition necro to get precision.
People are cheering that this is getting nerfed in the way that it is, but all this will do is prompt even more bunker condition builds, as people find there is less reason to get precision.

Conditions themselves cannot crit, and its these kind of condition-on-crit traits that give condition builds a good reason to invest into getting a decent crit rate.

not really so.. if u are not running signet of spite, your bleeds are gnna get cleansed easily. a lot of condi necros run on crit sigils like sigil of torment/earth that give a condition or effect on critical hit, which requires precision.

dhuumfire is bad because burning does so much damage. if you are fully buffed it is fairly easy to get burns to tick for 900-1000 per tick. given that 30 in spite is 30% condi dmg and no necro isnt running 40% condi food, the dhuumfire burning lasts for like 7 seconds. thats around 6-7k damage for something they dont have to skillfully cast. it just happens. for scepter skills you have to predict where they will be to use the scepter2 skill and same with dagger 5, and the resulting conditions from those skills do less damage than dhuumfire.

the trait itself is not that bad, the duration is too long. it should be a 1 second burning, and then able to be brought up to ~2 seconds with boosts and what not. an average of 700-1400 dmg is not as life threatening as 7k, obviously.

Cliche skeleton mask/black+bleeding eye mask – necro

has attunement icons, atunement effects on hands (fire, water etc) – ele

has a pet/is perpetually downed- ranger

shield + pistol/giant backpack – can only be used by engineer

spamming phantasmal berserker/purple spell animations/tehre are more than one of them – mesmer

don’t really have anything for warrior besides seeing what signets they are using. almost all warriors use healing signet so that’s a dead giveaway.

you can also see what buffs they are using to determine their spec (to counter it)

what if condition damage in traits was moved to the last trait? i.e. necro soul reaping is ds life pool + condition damage, guardian is virtue recharge rate + condition damage, etc..

that way, in order to still keep precision for the on crit procs some traits/sigils offer, they would need to sacrifice some condition damage to do so.

Burst is from dagger 4 and staff 4.

If you use DS offensively, that’s burst, since life force does not regenerate OOC ( no sustain)

Long cooldown devastating abilities fill out your burst. Wells, signet of spite, corrupt boon…

has to be, cuz it’s not possible otherwise. 4244 ranks (excluding 1-5) is over 21 million wxp. thats 2100 flipping SM, 350k player kills that all gave 60 wxp each which isn’t likely, and so on.. the guy has to play at least 10-12 hours a day. i saw a gold footman the other day in EotM.

People think that crit proc sigils will be so over the top, but they’re gonna be severely nerfed. Using a flame sigil it is possible to crit for around 2k, and air sigil is like ~1k. they also said they will be changing them to crit 100% of the time on crit, and then have a cooldown. so..

either a) they will get a long (30-60 sec cd) or b) damage will be greatly reduced with a 9 second icd.

they are only changing the way sigils work, not buffing them.

Do the developers really want feedback? If so, then I have a story for them.

Before I played GW2 I used to play Rift. The PvP there was not as good as GW2, but it was decent…at first.

In the beginning the PvP was decent. Then the developers tried to balance the PvP.

And so they buffed warriors and thieves.
And the nerfed warlocks and pyromancers.

And so the game persisted. Players clamored about the imbalance that existed, and even offered suggestions on how to improve the balance.

And the developer response was the same: we have to be mindful of scope (though the changes were typically analogous to changing one or two talents). And they did nothing. And warriors and thieves rampaged over the battlegrounds.

That was about 2 years ago.

The other day I swung into the Rift forums and saw the same complaints. Nothing changed.

Today, in GW2, I see warriors are overpowered and still dominating the meta, as exemplified by teams like Cheese Mode winning tournaments with double warrior.
Thieves are the apex roamer class, pushing out Elementalists and Mesmers from the meta.

And I see ArenaNet doing nothing to change this.

I believe history will repeat itself.

As long as people keep buying gems don’t expect anything to ever really change.

Makes one wonder why you still bother if believe nothing is goign to change. Just for the record, the ones complaining like us are generally not the ones that prop up the game.

Things will change somewhat, but major sweeping changes don’t seem like they will happen or will happen so slowly people will just start to lose interest before they are fully realized. I firmly believe that this games B2P model is it’s biggest saving grace at the moment.

I mean, it’s been almost 2 yeas and we still don’t have a new spvp game mode. WvW got a new map and it’s just more of the “zerg the local” game play we’ve always had.

If Anet had a real competitor that made them afraid to lose customers we’d probably see a lot more innovation and change than we have been with their only real drain being general player bemusement.

Wildstar will give GW2 a run for their money if they don’t fix something before launch. I’m not saying it’s going to kill the game, but I will jump on that gravy train if something isn’t done to GW2 by it’s launch (this summer i think).

wildstar is irrelevant and will fizzle out just as fast as elder scrolls online. you can’t even come close to ‘giving gw2 a run for its money’ when u are using orwellian subscription model. what ur saying is that W* or ESO would have to be so much better than gw2 and be completely worth spending $15 a month + $60 box price to overlook the MINOR inconveniences with class balance.

Anyway, there are more than just two new masteries. There’s siege golem mastery, reinforcement mastery, and assaulter mastery.

Siege golem is self explanatory.

reinforcement mastery just says: improves ur ability to get back to the fight (the another one with ‘faster and safer’), gain bonus exp from enemies, gain improvement swiftness when leaving your base, reduce cost of armor repair, gain stealth when you leave base, and if u have less than 5 supply, periodically replenish suply when leaving your base.

assaulter master just has two for now: gain buffs, send players back to base and ‘stuff’ for killing enemy players — gain buffs when killing players and sending them back to their base

i don’t think these are complete.

I am primarily a WvW player, so I won’t comment on the personal/living story or other PvE elements.

What bothers me most about WvW is that, lately, nobody seems to interested in even fights. They only fight if they severely outnumber you, otherwise they just run away. This is not fun at all. It can’t be changed, so the only thing I can do is just not play.

Also, ever since EoTM came out, or maybe even before, I’ve noticed an increase in zerging and it’s just ruining WvW. WvW is pure karma train and serves no other purpose.

The helplessness you feel when you come across a hacker/someone exploiting and knowing there is almost no chance of them actually getting banned or punished.

Cheesy builds, which are just becoming cheesy classes. Everything the thief and mesmer do is considered cheesy and isn’t fun to fight. Condition builds are completely over the top and have no counter w/o sacrificing a lot of offensive capabilities. i.e. to actually negate/severely reduce the effects of conditions you need melandru runes, -40% food, and be playing a warrior. This isn’t okay.

No. The only way to get a speed boost should be swiftness or boost items. All classes should have their running speed increase traits/signets removed/repurposed. Speed is relative so if you’re going to bring everyone up to 25% you may as well bring everyone down instead. That way swiftness is actually highly sought after i.e. stacking swiftness as a group for a huge mobility boost or using items runes/sigils that have swiftness as a bonus (e.g. on heal or on kill/crit/whatever).

I think the funniest thing about warriors is how much they resemble cats. The second they don’t see something they like, they immediately greatsword 3/5 rush outta there. Usually accompanied by a sword 2 or that one hammer leap. Hilarious.

I am annoyed with the warrior class in general, and I don’t find mine fun to play. It makes the cheese that is the mesmer class look tame. I would rather fight a PU mesmer and actually have a shot at killing them than I would fight a warrior who I know will bail as soon as things get tough. Warriors are just as skittish/lame as thieves except they have insane survivability and CC so when they come back from resetting the fight they have a better chance at winning.

You can’t even use stun breakers or stability against a warrior. Why? Because they have access to more CC than any other class has access to stability/stunbreakers.

Seeing as stability makes you an unstoppable killing machine aside from direct/condition damage (which is useless because nobody can catch a warrior), damage should be severely reduced while under the effects of stability.

heard of using stability PRE engagement? Oh wait, i main a ranger so my stability lasts very long, i can afford to use it before going in. Sorry, forgot that most of you only get 10 seconds.

Thief: one method of stability, and you can’t do anything when you have it
Necro: 3 seconds, maximum and it’s only for one build
Mesmer: mantras, minimal duration anyway on a long c/d

etc etc etc. stability doesn’t do anything. ‘use stability’ is just a crutch that people who play classes that abuse cc use to justify.

I really wish they would report on what they are doing about it.

There are people abusing exploits – some I know on my server, but I don’t even bother because there is no indication whether or not they are even doing anything about it.

There are people using hacks – all kinds.

There are people abusing bugs in the game to gain an advantage. There is one in particular with the Bay keep in the borderlands that people on my server are abusing.

Anyway, I really just want some kind of indication that reporting people actually does something. I recently sent a video to the exploits e-mail address about two people from a server that abused a bug to get into our citadel, which should not even be possible at all and there is no indication that anything has been done. I think if they actually responded to emails when action was taken, people would be much more vigilant in reporting exploits.

There is literally only one thing about rangers that is OP: the downed/underwater downed pet heal. If you are fighting a ranger and somehow manage to get downed along with them, you may as well just alt f4/log out/etc because you’re not winning that fight.


If you think about it, there is nothing really OP in terms of zerker stuff besides thief. It’s only OP because of stealth. stealth doesn’t have anything to do with armor or trinkets so they are still able to deal out massive damage while being invisible for most of the fight, which is total bs.

All other zerker builds for other classes besides MAYBE mesmer have like a 99% chance of getting one shot due to not being able to hide in stealth. Zerker ranger, guardian, engi, etc etc. All of these classes do ridiculous damage but it isn’t OP because the sacrifice of armor for damage can actually get them killed whereas a thief can reset the fights over and over.

in short: nerf thief pls

On any of my chars, if I come across a PU mesmer I will either log out or waypoint. The fight will never end unless it ends with you dying. I really hate perma-stealth but PU mesmer is a whole different kind of cheese. It’s actually worse than cheese – it’s velveeta. PU hybrid/condi build is so broken that it is more of a pain than perma stealth.

What if EotM replaces WvW?

I feel like EoTM is a subtle way to test a lot of features.

1) Less objectives, adjusted scoring amounts to make it so night-capping doesn’t completely obliterate a servers chances of winning.

2) Less waypoints. I heard a while ago that they were going to remove all but the citadel waypoint. Dunno why, but this could be a good way to test its viability/sustainability.

3) Goes with point #1. Pooling all servers together to make the huge coverage disparity disappear.

I don’t like this map, at all though. There are too many ways to die that don’t involve dying to a boss or being killed by a player. Being pushed off the edge, accidentally falling off the edge, etc. I don’t like the uncertainty there. It isn’t an enjoyable experience. It is also a really bad map for roaming because there are zergs going on 24/7 and there will be even when the honeymoon period is over for this map due to the server pooling mentioned above.

Insane condi clear, insane regen, insane damage/cc/mobility all while having insane armor. There is literally nothing about the warrior that is underpowered or not exceptional. I don’t understand why healing signet is so powerful when signet of vampirism is so bad and it doesn’t have a 100% proc rate every second.

I like dueling for the most part, but, what I don’t like is that your opponent has the ability to adjust their build specifically to fight you. i.e. if you are a condi build and go to duel a warrior, they will bust out every condi clear they have and readjust traits if possible in order to secure a victory. WvW should be like sPvP in that you can’t change your skills except at the beginning of a match, only it would be you can only change your skills at your keep.

Reveal is useless on thieves. Stealth traps are the only real hard counter and the cast time/requirements make them ideal in anything less than zerg fights, and in zerg fights they are never used anyway. Your proposed reveal would be on a long cooldown and the 3-4 seconds you suggest is not enough to put down a thief when they can still spam blinds, teleport, and just generally avoid damage. Then they are back to stealth spamming.

With this card, your CPU will become the bottleneck. I have a 7870 and get anywhere from 30-60 fps everything maxed in WvW, but, in zerg fights even on min settings i drop to like 15-20. It seems the FPS difference is less the more people are on screen when using min or max settings. I am gonna say this is because I have a non-overclocked i5-2500 (which is better than your CPU).

According to newegg, a 290 is something like $600. That is a TON of money for a GPU. You could upgrade your CPU to a i7 4770 AND get a gtx770 for like $20 more.

Nahh. You shouldn’t be able to get the benefits of autotargeting while turning it off for others. That is OP. Skills like Rush, Heartseeker, Fiery Rush etc all do a lot of damage and are used as escape skills and gap closers.

Damage all around in this game is out of control.. don’t just think it’s the thief. The problem is just exacerbated by the fact that a thief has such insane damage while also being able to be invisible for 90% of the fight. Mesmer is the same with the amount of clones AND stealth. Clones are just a different method of invisible. If you can’t active “see”/target them, they are invisible to you. Made even worse by the fact that they can also stealth and for a decent duration.

imo if i’m roaming solo, the fight ends when i’m downed, because i either won’t down them/won’t rally off some dumb npc, so i just log out. quick and painless.

4) Getting hit while resurrecting interrupts and the defeated players health goes down to zero (or just treat the res as a commune, all mechanics already there.)

this bothers me so much. in pvp or wherever else you commune, if you get hit, the commune stops. then again, i feel like if all player channels could get interrupted by being hit it would GG a lot of powerful abilities

The only reason people complain about Rangers is because they themselves are terrible at playing them. They immediately think they are useless because they aren’t easy mode (which they aren’t). The Ranger, IMO, is the hardest class to play, so of course to be effective, it takes a lot of skill and patience.

This is such a bad attitude to have. People have had this mindset for years, though. If you don’t like something, you either can’t afford it or you’re bad at it. What does a ranger using point blank shot whenever it is off cooldown, regardless of the situation, have to do with me being bad at player the class? Are you kidding me? I’m bad because the other person is bad and inconsiderate?

In the hands of the right player, they are one of the hardest hitting classes in the game

No, any class wearing full zerker and specced for DPS can be the hardest hitting in the game.

10k zealots fire, 10k fire grab/churning earth/dragons tooth, 15k backstab, 10k+ rapid fire, 10k+ arcing arrow, 15k+ kill shot, 8k life blast, that dumb engineer pull/blunderbuss combo, mesmer shatter, and so on. All of these are achievable by anyone as long as they meet certain crit dmg/power levels. Has nothing to do with how good someone is. A good player will come out on top of the fight regardless of what class/build they are playing.

Things I don’t like about downed/dead state:

1) Full rezzing while in combat. Please remove.
2) Killing someone can revive whoever tagged that person. This needs to be limited to like 1. Maybe 3.
3) The white/yellow/red/dead rally system needs to be changed to only be one rally, and then you’re dead. You get a new debuff called Rally Sickness, which makes it so that if you get downed again in X seconds, you’re dead. If you manage to survive for longer than that time, the rally sickness goes away and you’re free to restart the process.
4) Remove rallying off of NPCs. This is so broken and arguably the most frustrating part of the downed system. They made it so you can’t rally off dolyaks, why not everything else?

well of power though!

when someone is running away from me, i can usually use spectral grasp and then immobilize with dagger 3. maybe a spectral wall if i am on a condi build, but that is pretty much it. also, unless you’re close to a tower and have plague form equipped, you are SOL in terms of escaping. the lack of mobility goes both ways.

Queensdale champ train is so, so, so, sooo bad. For that to be the first thing a new player to be exposed to is just terrible.
