As a condi necro, I’m forced to use dhuumfire /30 in spite because all of the death magic traits are really only beneficial if you use minions.
I’ve pretty much been obsessed with finding ways to chain-fear people.
I run a sorta-terrormancer build and my utilities are locust signet(swapped frequently), spectral, and spectral grasp. Something I recently started doing is putting a wall down in front of me and then using spectral grasp to pull them into the wall. Then I can continue the chain with staff-5 + ds-3 for a total of like 8 seconds of fear. DS is pretty useless in a condi build for me, so I pretty much just flash it for the fear.
You can also put the wall down behind them and fear them into it using ds-3 or staff-5, and then using your remaining fear to extend the chain. Spectral grasp is a great finisher or starter to any fear chain because it causes disorientation and an added bonus of chilling the target. I’m not sure if this is how it works, but, if you interrupt them after a fear chain (usually a heal) and then apply chill with spectral grasp, then the interrupt time is actually 5 sec + 66%, or about 8 seconds. Again, I’m not sure if chill is only cooldown or if it counts with interrupt.
I use torment on offhand. I got it when it was like 3g, and I saw that it spiked to 18g one weekend so I decided to keep it. The main purpose I use it for is covering bleeds, since you will not often get more than one stack with it.
I already don’t like where this is going. Everybody wants their 15 minutes/time in the limelight, and so lots of people will rush to make multiple communities, causing there to be many communities with only a few members here and there. There are already established places to discuss GW2 apart from the official forums.. however, none of them are free from the overzealous moderation found here. All communities start out as a place promoting lax moderation/“freedom” of speech, etc.. but when they become big enough, they start cracking down. Why? Because banning a few members for bad behavior here and there is not damaging enough to the size of the community to do otherwise.
I think everyone wants to be responsible for something great happening, and they usually have good intentions.. but, in this case, it’s not doing anyone any good.
It is a technical limitation because Condition Damage is a stat. If all condi damage didn’t scale with stats, they could make the limit way higher but as it stands the system would have to calculate every condition on a target, and the condi stat of it’s caster every second. In a fight like a world boss where they always have max conditions on the boss that would create a massive delay in whatever function dictates damage.
An average home CPU, say an Intel i7 3930, can perform billions of floating point math operations every second, most commercial servers and leading edge home computers can get up in to the trillions of calculations pers second, yet there’s a technical limitation that prevents a few dozen people from having private stacks of damage? Can’t be much more than a few hundred stacks in a very busy event. Less that 100 total for an average event…even if every user is applying every condition possible. Perhaps a few million calculations on a given server at any given time. If there are technical limitations it’s in the software design.
It isn’t a computational limit, but a bandwidth one. Apparently the server keeps track of all conditions on a target so that they can’t be manipulated client side(if this is even possible, I’m not sure – doubtful, though). When one person puts a condition, say, a stack of bleeding on a target, every other person who has that NPC targeted (or maybe just everyone in the area in general, idk), will have to receive that information. So, the server is sending that information out to all relevant players and doing calculations.
I don’t believe that increasing the cap for AoE limit and/or condition stacks would put such a strain on the server so as to become unplayable. I think it is just a way to say that it is for balancing purposes. If you think about it, being able to get an unlimited number of stacks of bleeding on a boss would trivialize the content even further. One necro/warrior can easily get 25 stacks of bleeding, and world events/bosses are huge. I can easily imagine at least 200 stacks of bleeding being possible with no cap.
There is no penalty for getting downed besides having less times you can get downed for a short period. It goes white > yellow > red > you’re dead. Your armor should be damaged each time you get downed, in addition to this downed sickness. It’s so annoying that people can get downed over and over again and keep getting rallied by NPCs, killing stuff with downed abilities, or teammates reviving them.
If armor was damaged on down, even if you got downed 4 times and won the fight, your armor would still be damaged. Persistent penalty for getting downed. Any reason why this is a bad idea, and why?
gotta say, fc has some of the worst roamers i’ve ever fought. zerg on.
Downed state used to be an issue for me, now I don’t really care. With all of the stupid interrupts people have I can actually down them enough times to where they just die straight away. Unless you have ez-mode stomping like engi elixir, thief invis, mist form, etc, it’s not even worth it in a 1vX setting.
Rallying is too easy in general and there needs to be a smaller limit. The limit now is like 4 or 5 times before you just die anyway, but it needs to be two or even one rally allowed. There are NPCs almost everywhere in WvW and most downed skills have 900+ range so if you down someone they can constantly rally off of an NPC, and if you try to stomp they will just interrupt/friend will save/they’ll rally off an NPC. It’s total crap. I was 1v2’ing some people earlier and this guy kept rallying on wolves over by umberglade and I was eventually “outplayed” (lol). I don’t expect downed to be removed permanently from WVW because too many people would cry and ANET just doesn’t care in general, so greatly reducing the amount of rallies before death is the only solution.
The real problem is full reviving from death. This should not be possible in WvW. Straight to spawn, or just lay there dead. Idc about spying, but being able to power rez your team mates is just so kitten cheap and it shouldn’t be in WvW. There is literally no point to doing anything not zerg v zerg if people can just come back indefinitely.

Conditions are only bad if you are a solo roamer, like someone else said earlier. I main a necro and have been wrecking people lately, but still get owned by thieves, or kill them just barely, because they are invisible 90% of the fight. You can’t counter that. You can counter conditions by using melandru runes, -40% food, and having high vitality. There is no -40% physical damage food and toughness scaling is a joke. Nothing can stop a thief from taking 8k of your health away in one shot. Backstab should only hit 150% or whatever if the target is standing still and it is from behind them.

I fought some necro my condi vs his dunno wtf it was, but i have 2k toughness and he 3-shot me from 21k health at least 6 times before i finally got tired of it. how is it even possible to hit that high? did they buff it or something? my armor wasn’t broken and i’m not upscaled. i don’t think he ever hit below 7k and it was constant crits (im aware of the 50% crit while in shroud)
I saw the screen shot, and I believe very much you can and did get hit for 9000, but I don’t believe for a second it was with 2000 toughness. With 2000 ARMOR I could believe. If you had 2000 toughness, on a level 80 character, there is no way someone hit you for 9k lifeblast.
The math doesn’t add up to give you that figure if your toughness was really that high. I have full ascended zerker and scholar and I don’t life-blast anyone that high unless they are full glass AND vuln stacked or with me might stacked to the roof. I routinely run around with 4500 attack and an ascended staff and that is not a common number on any level 80.
So in short, you ran a glass build, and he ran a glass build, and he had better gear, a better build, or way more buffs.

My life blast hit was with 114% crit damage and 3500 attack. i just don’t see how hits like this are possible.. it’s like i’m an upscale or something.

unfortunately nope.. there are a lot of really bad/inexperienced players on yaks bend and guilds liek Os and XOXO on NSP don’t generally solo/small group roam – just big zergs. kinda boring really. hopefully action picks up in bronze league
I just log out if I get chain cc’d. I don’t care about repair costs or anything like that – it’s just a waste of my time.

it should be available and it should be an option. something only u can see. or show it at the end of dungeons or something. idk. either that or improve the combat log and have there be some kind of way to have it write to a file and show more detailed information like heals and condition dmg ticks.
Any class with a speed signet. Warrior with 10 in disc for +25% speed with melee weapon and then warhorn traited to get perma swiftness.
I think either critical chance or critical damage is too high. Maybe if it wasn’t possible to get like 120% crit damage or 100%+ crit chance via runes/traits/trinkets, it would be better. Nerf these things and then make it so fury adds more ~50% and lasts for a shorter duration. Things like hidden killer and +50% crit chance in deathshroud are fine because they are situational. You could also give support-y classes like guardian or even ranger the ability to increase crit dmg/chance in the same fashion as warrior banners. Banners at the current time (especially discipline) are overkill.
@Ari: Yeah, this is actually pretty good against ppl who use zerker gear. you could use valkyrie and get the same power + crit damage but have a lot more hp. either that or soldiers/sentinel and get a lot of vitality and toughness. both way better options than zerker, at least for fighting teq itself.

WvW is broken. Look at the leaderboards. The problem is not solely with t2. There is not one single match this week that isn’t a complete blowout. Last week, the T1 matchup I think was the only even relatively close matchup.
It seems like this would only be a problem in 1v1 or something where the whole points for stomp thing doesn’t even matter. Really, there should be no resurrection downed skills and if there are, all classes should have them.
I don’t mind it as much anymore. I alt-f4 any time I get downed and don’t rally instantly. I don’t care about repair costs or giving the other team points or anything like that, I just hate sitting there and waiting to die if nobody has immediately stomped me. it’s a waste of time. it is much quicker to just log out to character select/alt-f4 and log back in and get back into the fray then it is to wait to have your ridiculous downed health pool go away.
All CC should have an immunity period of like 2-3s after using to avoid being constantly knocked down even with stun breakers and stability.

Anything that is put in the hands of the players like this is just going to get abused. It’s really the only way to deal with bad commanders because ANet shouldn’t have any say in it, but it just won’t work.

This is just PR speak for “hey, it’s going to suck and be poorly optimized/laggy because we didn’t have a good amount of people to test it”
it is basically saying ‘expect the worst’ so when things go better than expected you’re happy about it.. when it should be good from the beginning.
if they are going to go around saying stuff like this there needs to be a public testing realm.

It is funny because the amount of time you would have to spend playing the game to earn the same amount of gold in real world money is probably way less than it would be if you spent it at work.
800 gems cost like, what, 40g? That is quite a lot unless you’re some daytrader or something. 800 gems is only 10 bucks. you can probably make that in an hour or two working at walmart.
10$ on fine trasmutation stones, since that’s mandatory if you don’t want to look like a spaz.
If the prices were more reasonable or the shop wasn’t offering exclusively on one-use, one-character, one-slot items, I’d be more willing to support it. As it stands, everything is literally a waste of your money.
Bank slot upgrades are probably the only thing done right. Fair is fair.
I don’t like that you can’t buy one of transmutation crystal. I’ve got 3 in the bank and I need 3 to transmute an armor set and I’m holding off on buying them because I don’t need to buy 5. I’m fine with buying gems in incr of 800, but all items should give the option to buy only one.
At least $50. Not sure how much total since I used paypal for some and CC for another. I would say at most $80..
I usually spend it on transmutation crystals. I bought a new bank tab and a new char slot.. some FF dyes..and converted a lot to gold.
there is no real reason to go back to those zones unless you’re leveling an alt with a friend. it should’ve never been possible to level through crafting. it’s really sad that the only way anet can get people to go back to zones is by promise of loot (hey look we added 8new champion events to brisban wildlands).
lvling being too easy is another thing that’s emptying out zones. it should’ve taken a lot longer. too late now tho
In RuneScape(yes, I know) there is a spell called entangle which is the exact same as immobilize, except it lasts for 40 seconds against npcs and 20 seconds against players. Another spell called ice barrage freezes for 10 seconds. This would be incredibly OP except after it wears off, there is a period of 2-4 seconds where the affected is immune from getting re-entangled/frozen. This is what GW2 needs.
I don’t even think it would trivialize or devalue stability because stability is 100% ignore and usually for a decent duration.

The whole “NSP doesn’t play for points” thing came about because they are all roamers and have terrible/non-existent group play.

Abys and SE gave us most of our numbers, they’re gone, and because of the scarlet events that happened, we lost more players than was good for our WvW. Plus CD seems to have a night force where as we have none at all. Our server is more or less out of the running for any wvw at this time.
Scarlet events are affecting all servers that aren’t pure WvW.
I agree. Unfortunately, you will get nothing but hate here because everyone is doing it and nobody wants their primary source of income to be taken away from them. That being said..
There really are not enough ways to make money in this game. Playing the market isn’t really an option unless you know what you’re doing. Even so, it just makes it so 2% of the players have 99% of the wealth in the game, and that isn’t okay (just like it isn’t IRL). ANet frequently nerfs ways to make money and brings out new ways that are exploited/abused to hell and then those are nerfed. Rinse + repeat. Soon, the only way to make money will be through gem conversion, and that is just said.

Lets be honest about one thing though. IoJ drops more siege than any other server I have seen. Even if you out number your opponent 3-1. Dude that’s just hilarious. It speaks a ton for your extreme lack of confidence in you abilities. Maybe less zerg/pvdoor/ppt and more small group practice would help that. Once the wvw update comes, and you are somewhat forced to spread out, you will have wished you had zerged less.
Err I haven’t really played much this matchup but what is really wrong with dropping siege? I usually play with my guild CORE and we don’t often have more than 20-25 people with us and run into big groups like DDLG, Rise(gom), and others who have way more than us, so we drop a ballista for support. when it is 40 v 20-25 it doesn’t seem that bad really

this game has gotten a lot more restrictive the past updates and i don’t like it at all.
all of the account bound rewards, character bound items, and time-gated stuff is just a buzz kill. play the way you want, but only if it is one of our approved ways. past few days my enjoyment and interest in playing has been bleeding out and i feel like my time on gw2 is over.

Seems ANet is more interested in upholding rules which do not require any extra work on their part. The game is basically designed to enable hackers and to punish those who report them. See: the current situation in the united states regarding whistle blowing.
The whole punishing publicly shaming people whose sole intent is to ruin the game for others is so bizarre I can almost not comprehend it. You would think they would encourage people to let others know who they should avoid – given there is undeniable proof. Just don’t understand it.
Bad. Catapults aren’t used much, and not many people will put points into this line if there isnt an ability point reset.
i bought my amulet in wvw, my earrings with guild commendations, and my rings in wvw. 25 laurels and 250 badges or something?
Downed state is garbage. It is only “okay” in super small (see: 5v5 or less) team fights, where each person makes a difference. When there is a zerg of like 60 and a bunch of NPC in the area you’re fighting as well as players and people are rallying constantly, it’s totally lame. Downed state just needs to be removed in WvW and suddenly the way people play will change dramatically. People who are bad and suicide/chase people will actually become detrimental to the group and not just another noob they can resurrect or someone that can rally and rejoin the fight.
it should be the complete opposite where people arent upscaled at all. dont understand why upscaled players are allowed to contribute to zerg numbers when they’ve earned nothing on their characters. wvw should be 80 only or no upscaling.
All of the badges and making siege able to be traded has made WvW a siege fest, and it isn’t fun anymore. It was better when it was a rare occasion to see an omega golem or even a superior ballista.
Yeah, if AR could not be entirely useless and attack GoM instead of contesting our keeps, that’d be great. Don’t become a trash griefing server just because you lost numbers.

Signet of Shadows definitely. Also, either assassin’s signet (180 power) or the precision one (180 precision). The last two are definitely optional, but in WvW signet of shadows is pretty much a must.
I don’t really use signet of shadows in dungeons because there aren’t a lot of times you need to run far. I hate how some signets are required and you miss out on other, more useful ones. Balance, i guess.
Cayles crossing or something? It was a new server and it was removed within a few hours.. was a few months ago.
