Shatterer and Tequatl

in Dynamic Events

Starscream.6498

Mind you, Shaterrer is much more fun now that they made him a challenge.

1. HP pool increased, doesn’t go down in 5 minutes anymore.
2. Increased Crystal Prison trap frequency.
3. Increased amount of Branded on the field.
4. Increased frequency of the Branded Griffon Lieutenants landing on the mortars and disrupting the fireworks.
5. Brand new (not pun intended) crystal chain ability, he sends out crystals in 3-5 lines all teh way to the mortars and it impales you on a giant crystal and deals heavy damage if you get hit by it. Looks really cool.

And because all of these, the mortars tend to get destroyed more frequently, so it’s not just shooting them at him the entire fight, AND the healing crystals require ORGANIZATION, since there are more of those too, and you need to be prepared for them and take them down asap.

I absolutely adore the new Shaterrer. Honestly I don’t care about his loot anymore, I do Claw and him(since latest patch) just for the fun, getting good loot being a fortunate side effect.

I agree though, that, even though I visit it once in a while, Tequatl needs a bit of reworking. Emptying my rifle into it with the occasional megalaser is not that fun.

Lupicus is one of the few actual bosses in the game, why do people want him nerfed?
Is it because all of the other explorable bosses are so easy people forget how to play the game?

I do not want him nerfed. I want the waypoint distance to be reduced or put right at the gate WITH the solution that has been said, close the gate when everyone enters.

Lupi is like the only skill fight prior to FotM. Just learn to fight it, so many of us are farming arah daily without a problem. If you really need to rely on zerging through a close waypoint, you are really doing it wrong. And you don’t have to dodge every time he tries to attack you. Try use skills that teleport you or jump back, work just as good.

As I have already corrected myself, I do not have to rely on zerging, the gate can be closed. I just feel like so much time is wasted through the stupid running process.

How does this solve anything? this boss doesn’t need to be nerfed so you can wp zerg it?

I forgot to mention in that post that the solution of the gates being closed but the WP being there would be something. So it isn’t as time consuming as running back there all the time.

If you have any movement skills at all, you can kite him indefinitely with 1 person. However, this won’t be viable much longer as it seems they’re making “classic” dungeons more like FotM, which I imagine will remove the graveyard runs.

To top it off, Lupi isn’t all that difficult, it just takes a bit of practice, unlike most of the faceroll bosses in game.

You can’t kite him indefinitely, that’s the thing. You just don’t recharge enough endurance in time.

Example, start of phase 2, as soon as I notice he’s invulnerable, I just back off all the way to the gate, so I don’t even need to dodge anything. We continue to fight him, he shadow walks to me, I dodge it, move away, shoot him, but in the meantime he throws his AoE around again. Unless I happen to be enclosed between them so tightly that doubledoging out of them still doesn’t save me, I will roll out. He shadow walks again, I I barely have enough endurance, because he didn’t switch target. Soon, he’s either gonna walk me (or anyone else for that matter) and AoE again, and the endurance regen is not quick enough for this. Not to mention the people that died (or the ones that do not listen to the viable strategy you and another party member suggested and it works, but that’s not the point). All I’m really asking for is the waypoint distance to be reduced. Hell, as I said, don’t even make him easier, just put that waypoint right in front of the gate.

I wouldn’t mind a closer waypoint if they shut the door to him while he’s in combat.

Not exactly what I’m aiming for, but I would gladly accept much more frequent attempts rather than minute+ runs back from the vaults.

So after so many days of catching Arah uncontested and failing to find an explorable party, I got one. And we proceeded to take The Forgotten path. No big deal, we got through doing some fun stuff with our thief, we had no big problems. I liked the labyrinth part with the balls a lot.

But then, you can guess. Giganticus Lupicus.

We did it 2 times, failed, then googled around on how people did this, we tried various strategies, at the 3th or 4th time we have fully overcome phase 1 without problems, once we didn’t even let him eat a single grub.

Phase 2. Honestly, this requires a bit more focus, and it wouldn’t be that of a problem, but that waypoint distance. Holy kitten, the waypoint distance. I really don’t know how it is on other paths, but walking for about a minute (constantly being supplied by Banner of Discipline’s speed buff) from there back to the arena is ridiculous. I don’t understand why was the waypoint placed so far away.

I am not suggesting the ability to just rez there, do brainless dps on him because you can spawn there instantly, no, just make it a bit closer. having to run that whole labyrinth again is just stupid :S.

So, while I was thinking about some team possibilities inside dungeons, I noticed that it’s quite annoying to have to go to Lion’s Arch or somewhere else just to retain all your traits for an amount that is quite insignificant anyway, for one use. So I’ve come to the idea that it would be better if we had about 3 or 4 trait pages for start, and we can have our traits allocated differently throughout those pages. Of course, you couldn’t switch pages in combat, but this would save some time spent on travelling to your class trainer just to pay like 3.5s to reallocate your trait points.

Starscream.6498

A new theory I heard last night is that certain large meta-events will only trigger once a critical mass of players in the area has been reached. This may explain why certain events like the Frozen Maw restart so frequently (lots of people tend to hang around the area thanks to the proximity of the crafters and several renown Hearts), but others like Secrets in the Swamp are so rare because Godslost Swamp is quite far off the beaten track and there is only one renown Heart in the area, meaning few people visit the area.

I’m going to try testing this this weekend by asking for a large number of volunteers to gather in Godslost Swamp and hanging around for a while.

Most definitely not. I saw him yesterday, and I was there, there were only 3-4 players wandering around. I wanted to fight him, but the event was bugged. The 3 portals were just standing there and they couldn’t be destroyed, neither was the objective to do so given in the top right corner.

So you have failed me again, Starscream…

Heh, couldn’t resist. But OK, it seems like the theory is debunked then. I was also there for about 3 hours or so on the weekend and there were a fair number of players hanging around Godslost Swamp (about 5 or 6 in the Monastery, 2 people in Greatheart Weald, a few in the swamp itself and I think there were also a few in the Tamnin Foothills), and the chain still failed to start.

I think there might indeed be a bug that is causing the Swamp chain to not fire. Perhaps we need to raise it as a bug report, just in case.

“you have failed me YET again,”. People always forget that.

Already did post it in the bug section, but no reply. Well atleast for the portal bug. It quickly got overwhelmed by other bug reports.

Definitely Claw of Jormag. Shaterrer and Tequatl are fun for me just because they’re both awesome, but both of them are “shoot his feet/head with a rifle or artilerry”.

Claw of Jormag has 2 sections, and even the one you are offered to physically encounter him, you won’t do much, because you HAVE to make those golems reach him, and you have to kill that wall a couple of times. All while having in mind the border of his deadly ice and the minions (“Watch the ledges.”). His fight has different things to do and not just shoot him in the face for 20 minutes.

I really support this idea, it seems pretty awesome to have it as one huge meta event throughout the 3 zones.

First of all, I would like to say that I really like this event and find it way better than Tequatl the Sunless or The Shatterer, because unlike those 2, the dragon fight itself after doing the event before it is not just shoot his hands/head until it drops dead.

And I would really like to see the Shatterer and Tequatl changed so they are actually dynamic fights like this one. You first have to take down the wall, then attack him, then when his wings are gone, protect the golems, then attack him. It has a variation of actions throughout the fight.

What I don’t like though is the small amount of damage that you can deal in the first part, with the wall. Either weaken him a bit or make those cannons player controllable and make them do more damage. Imo it takes a bit too long to force him out of his walling phase, taking his and the wall’s HP into consideration. My only objection to this.

This fight is just so fun and epic, I was really satisfied doing it.

Would like to see others’ opinion on this.

Wow. Didn’t expect such a thread. Is this trolling? Your are leveling 2 of the easier professions and telling us you don’t want to mine and want it made easier for you when all the others had to mine?

Seriously. Be happy that you are able to mine… Leatherworkers and Tailors have it much harder because they need to rely on random drops and the stuff there is more expensive. If you are at 80 you get in a low level zone a mix of 70-80 level items and items on the low level as drop. Even harder to farm salvageable stuff and the salvage only items are random and the bags are containing more and more cooking stuff since they changed it.

First of all, I have no clue why are you upset about this. I’m sorry, maybe I shouldnt’ve asked a simple question. How dare I.

Second, I’m not “not wanting to mine”, it just seems too boring when I can’t do it while I’m finishing a zone except in one unexplored zone that will not nearly sate the amount of ores I will need. I am only asking people to recommend other ways I might not have thought of, not whining about how difficult gathering materials for my professions might be. I AM farming copper on my alts where I can actually do it, when I feel like playing them, and I will go to the lower level areas if I find no better ways, but I already have.
