It doesn’t give them an unfair advantage in terms of actual game-play. There is not hack, not exploit, that gives the some means of upping the average players.
It means they are smart and they have used their intelligence in a way that’s confused you, in real life, and that intelligence shouldn’t be considered an exploit since its not manipulating or altering the game in some way that’s giving an unfair advantage.

Apparently ANET wanted to punish us because we make so many threads on the forums about things that are little more than pointless attempts at stirring up kittens.

God, YB is as bad as BP with hiding in the towers. Almost an hour in their BL and I couldn’t get one person to actually duel me. Always gotta be 3:1 or better. One guy of higher rank than me actually hid inside a camp, behind the guards of all things. Wouldn’t come out and play, so I walked off, went in a big circle, came back, and capped it anyway. I am disappoint.
I honestly don’t understand why people bother playing the game if they aren’t going to PLAY THE GAME. If you’re in WvW, you obviously enjoy PvP so why are you making the NPC’s do the work for you? Or why wait until you outnumber the enemy to attack? If you don’t enjoy using SKILL to beat players, go back to PvE where you can gang up with your group and auto attack a mob to death.
If you “honestly” don’t understand, allow me to explain.
Not everyone plays World vs. World because they want to duel players. Some people play because they enjoy WvW in its entirety – and fighting is just one part of it! I for one really don’t enjoy PvP at all in almost any game.
Additionally, some players are not built for dueling, so there is no illusion that someone who is roaming solo is probably built for it and will likely spike them. My Guardian is a great example of a really good team player built off buffing and healing others, and in a mid-large group she is a beast. But she doesn’t do enough burst damage to take down most players 1v1, and if I’m facing a Mesmer or a Thief I’m smart enough to know the fight is just going to be annoying.
So if I’m the guy standing in the camp defending it – perhaps communicating enemy movement to a camp that we strategically need to feed a tower or keep we are trying to upgrade – why would I give that up to jump into a 1v1 fight with someone who has multiple advantages over me in 1v1 play?
BTW, it wasn’t me in the camp but I thought it might help you to understand an easy concept that apparently isn’t understood by some people.
So what you’re saying is, you enjoy roaming with a zerg, but you solo roam to towers to report 1 or 2 enemies coming by? Yes, that sounds like an important job. It just baffles me that people play WvW, knowing that 70% of the gameplay there is PvP, and then they say they don’t enjoy PvP. Healing and protecting allies against enemies is technically PvP (refer to monks from gw1).
Not exactly.
What I’m saying is that I enjoy WvW as a complete package that includes small group roaming, camp flipping and yak killing, the leadership of commanding a group, coordinating and communicating with my team, offensive siege warfare against towers and keeps, the strategy of where to attack and when, large scale battles (zerg on zerg), and yes even scouting can be an important role and enjoyable at times (depending on my energy level and mood).
I’ll happily hang out and scout a tower or camp for a brief time and communicate enemy movement and numbers to our commanders if its going to benefit our overall success. And yes, I would do that over a 1v1 duel if my overall goal was to be alive at that particular camp as a scout for the benefit of my team.
Some of us do enjoy playing for points, playing with strategy and tactics, and look at the entire picture of what our server is doing instead of simply focusing on getting into as many fights as possible.
Now let me also clarify that fighting is a very enjoyable part of the package that is WvW. In fact without it the whole thing would be rather pointless. Running around PvDoor is incredibly boring and if that’s all there was to WvW no one would play (except some people farming I suppose). My ideal night in WvW would be with a group of 3-7 people flipping camps and towers, disrupting our opponents supply lines, distracting their focus on defending their BL instead of going offensive into our BL, resetting upgraded towers, maybe ninja-flipping a keep if we are lucky, and all the while running into small groups of 5-20 enemies to fight. But, my actual focus in WvW is to help my server win, and I’ll take on a number of roles in order to make that happen be it scout, yak escort, running supply to repair walls, etc.
On the issue of my Guardian’s build the point I was making is simply that not everyone is optimized for 1v1 fights. I’m pretty confident that unless you really suck, you are probably going to kill me in a 1v1 fight especially if you are roaming and looking for just such a fight. My guardian has a staff (terrible single-target damage), is set up with traits that only benefit me when I heal/buff allies, etc. So while I want to run with groups (small and large), I’m not really interested in dueling. This would be even more the case if I’m doing any of things I listed above – yak escort, supply run, scout, etc.
Make sense now?

I’ve not played all classes to level 80, so its not a fair comparison, but I’ve found my Necromancer to be the most enjoyable, and although I completely enjoy my Guardian its probably the most straight-forward and routine to play (although being GOOD at Guardian is harder than people think).
Raingarde – Level 80 Necromancer
What type of a player – I spend about 50-60% of my time in PvE and the rest in WvW. When I PvE I really like to change up the content I play and I rarely ever choose what I’m doing based on the loot. I play for a short time (1-2 hours) a few days a week, and some weekends I can get a good 8-10 hours, but that’s not all the time.
1. Add an in-game Looking for Game tool.
2. Housing – simply for the enjoyment of designing and furnishing it with reward items. I always found this to be a fun addition to RPGs.
3. Update the meta-events to be something more than stand in one spot and auto-attack.

Sorry, but regardless of whether you play mmorpg or any other video game, there is always a goal to reach … or there is no fun or sense of accomplishment. My hubby loves his xbox. He plays all the games he likes to unlock ACHIEVEMENTS. You might play a game for a few hours without some type of reward, but i dont’t think you would play for 500 hours. I love GW2, but part of what i like is having the chance for loot and achievements.
You touched on why I asked the question. I was curious as to what motivated people to play this game, other than the obvious answer of “loot”.
Clearly there are goals to achieve in GW2 other than finding loot, some of which are clearly laid out for us by ANet, and others that are not and that instead require someone to be creative in setting their own goals.
My background is mostly with console games going all the way back to the NES. There have been plenty of games I’ve played just for the enjoyment of playing the game, not because of any specific in-game loot. However, I do enjoy seeking out new loot in GW2 but its just one of many aspects of the game I enjoy. I will take the enjoyment of playing the game over grinding or farming for loot any day, but it appears some people may solely be driven by the quest for loot (which is a strange concept to me and why I’m curious about the behavior).
Raingarde – Level 80 Necromancer
This is just hypothetically speaking, so please don’t think I’m trying to advocate for there to be no loot.
What if there was no loot? If you had access to every item available in the game what would you spend your time doing? What content would you choose to do if you weren’t concerned about rewards? How would this change your play style?
Raingarde – Level 80 Necromancer
I love the fact that events happen that also go away, and for people to be able to look back and say, “remember when..”. Really, that’s the kind of thing that people will look back on with nostalgia!
I would love to say, “Remember when…” and only have the veterans of the game be able to talk of said event. Those people will eventually be the real legends of GW2, and as such probably are the people that would be most deserving of carrying a Legendary weapon.
Raingarde – Level 80 Necromancer
It sounds like you use some very specific food in WvW, which isn’t uncommon, but if you did want alternative inexpensive food you can buy Zhaitaffy still and purchase food with it, making level 80 food incredibly inexpensive.
I know there is at least one food that you can buy that’s equivalent to the Veggie Pizza I used with my Necromancer, only its far less expensive to buy with Zhaitaffy than it is straight-up on the TP.
Raingarde – Level 80 Necromancer
It`s not bannable to complete events. It`s just people being idiots with the new champion loot. The community went from nice to being total kittens. I saw someone call someone else a kittenbag for killing the Champion Spider in Queensdale just before. Map chat went from being helpful to just one giant zerg calling champions out.
One of the best things and one of the worst things Anet has done in a while.
I’ve noticed this behavior as well in Queensdale last night, with someone getting upset in Map Chat because a champion was up and downed without someone calling it out in Map Chat first. Interesting to see that’s been a larger trend in behavior. I wouldn’t have expected people to get quite that hung up on the pursuit of the loot since its not really that special.
Raingarde – Level 80 Necromancer
They have said that they are working on a system that will allow old living world content to be played so that players don’t miss out.
Raingarde – Level 80 Necromancer
I’m a long-time console gamer. This is the first computer game I’ve purchased in 5+ years, maybe longer.
I enjoy playing a variety of the content in the game, although I will admit I don’t regularly cycle around lower levels to do Hearts and I don’t PvP. One thing I will do is a couple of the meta-events for the chests, but this isn’t time consuming so I wouldn’t say its the bulk of my time in-game, not by a long-shot.
In WvW I don’t typically run in a giant zerg, although I will at times and I think that overpowering your enemy is a great tactic in warfare. However, you will find that even when there are zergs there are also disruption groups and other smaller groups attacking other targets. So I think the OP may have simplified this point.
So did ANet create a game that’s different than other MMOs and that attracts nontraditional MMO players? At least in my case the answer is a resounding YES. My PS3, and the 15+ games I own for it, has been collecting dust now since I purchased GW2.
Do I farm, grind, and run WvW karma-trains? Absolutely not. While there may be times when I go for easy-reward content, I’m still focused on enjoying playing the game.
Raingarde – Level 80 Necromancer
Reality check: other people have the EXACT SAME goods as you do – and if they are willing to take a lower price for it, their product moves before yours does.
Your choice of price is not sacred. It deserves no special protection.
Yup, I know, and the things I’m selling, I tracked the prices of and they’re always just a little over 3g. I matched lowest price, suddenly I"m undercut, and that guy is undercut, and that guy is undercut, and now my listing is buried under 20+ other listings. The price difference between mine and the lowest is only about 12s. But if I remove my listings I lose about 2g in posting fees. That’s the stupid part of it, the posting fees.
If you could adjust your sell price without losing posting fees this wouldn’t be an issue.
But you can’t.
You eat the posting fees because someone undercut you by 1c.
The only thing I can think is that you can research the historic sell price of the item before you post it. That way you aren’t posting it at the lowest sell price at a time when said price is much higher than the historic sell price.
For example, if Abyss dye usually trends around 21g, and when you go to sell your Abyss you see the lowest sell price is at 24g, you might want to consider that it is likely to be undercut unless someone buys yours quickly or unless something else in the market has changed.

I do agree that the system used to get a Legendary weapon is kind of lame. It really doesn’t seem to signify any true distinction upon the person, which is why I am not impressed with people who have one.
Raingarde – Level 80 Necromancer
So again, is all of this talk of zerker gear in the context of doing dungeon speed runs, specifically CoF, or are people talking about all general play?
Raingarde – Level 80 Necromancer
What’s up with all the crying on the forums lately that zerker gear is practically required now? I’ve never used it and I’ve quite successful at every aspect of the game I play.
What am I missing here? Are these all people trying to farm CoF and being rejected? I can’t imagine anywhere else in the game, PvE, where anyone would really care all that much what your character build is like. I guess some people might not want failed dungeon parties, but there are plenty of viable builds for dungeons so unless people were farming they shouldn’t care.
Is this whole crying about zerker thing on the forums lately really about farming CoF 1?

I’ve just purchased the game today. My friend told me that Guild Wars 2 still has good population and still is a good MMORPG. I hope he’s right, but I just wanted to post to ask about the game. Is there anything a newbie should know about this before going on? I plan on becoming a Necromancer so if anyone can just give me some tips not only on the class itself but the game as well I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
Have fun playing the game and don’t be in too much of a rush to reach level 80. Also, find some friends to play with, or join a guild. It should make playing more enjoyable.

I use the compact feature regularly. As others have mentioned I have many different types of bags including
Two invisible bag slots that I use for things like tonics, merchant express, repair canisters, mini-pets, and other non-essential items that I like to keep on my character. These are the bottom two bags in my slots since I don’t need to access them often.
Two equipment slot bags so that all the weapons and armor I fall there. In the first two slots I keep my salvage kits for salvaging rares I don’t want to sell. This is also nice when I go to sell since the weapons/armor are listed together in the sell menu.
One craftsman bag so my crafting materials will get sorted.
An oiled slot bag so my junk items get sorted. The oiled slot bag has inexpensive salvage kits in the first two slots so that I can salvage any salvageable junk items.
Finally, I have one normal bag which is just for overflow, and my starter bag which has my food and siege for wvw.
Its all kept neatly sorted without any real work, and I can still use the compact feature.

On playing for points vs. just looking for good fights; I get why people want to just look for fights. It’s understandable since its the most fun aspect of WvW. It’s where the action is at!
It’s my favorite part of WvW as well, but I’m glad there is more to WvW. I like the added dimension of defensive positions with point values, the importance of supplying said positions, and the added strategic value of the point system. I like the added tactical value of siege.
I don’t really care if we win or lose at the end of the week. However, when I play I enjoy playing the entire system of WvW in all its complexity, not just for fighting one another, and that means playing for points. Hopefully those of you who don’t enjoy those aspects of WvW will be granted GvG soon so you don’t have to complain about those of us trying to play WvW.

Where were you guys friday, saturday and sunday night when we basically did what we wanted to in EB?
I am not a member of BS, so I can’t speak directly for them. But, BP in general doesn’t field huge numbers on weekends. We have lives.
So what you’re really saying is you have lives so you can’t play on the weekends, but since none of you have jobs you can all log on during the week? Thanks for the clarificaiton
No, when you grow up you will understand.
You see, people with careers play in the evenings when they can for stress relief during the week and sometimes during the day on the weekends. On the weekend nights, they go out on the town (or to whatever party, charity event, child’s sporting event, etc. their wives have scheduled) because they have better and/or more important things to look forward to than sitting in front of a computer for 6 hours on a Friday night.
I get it now, so when you have kids, you can spend 6 hours on the computer during the week, but not on the weekend, right? You’re probably an excellent parent and career minded adult. I salute your 30% guild wars, 30% work, 30% forum trolling, 10% family balance.
Dude, what are you thinking posting this? I enjoy a little smack talk here and there in the spirit of competition, but all in good fun. Getting personal about people and their family? Come on. Your post really takes it to an inappropriate place.

Standard BP fare:
The funny thing is the aberration you see above is the direct result of getting smashed by ebay for 13 weeks. Towards the end we watched BP evolve and change. They started to practice their zerg ball moves in the open field. They stayed tight and followed the commander mindlessly around in circles, ignoring smaller groups of opposition to prevent penetration into their dense mass. Using numbers became their primary weapon.
Ebay, we created this monster!
Yes, if you go back and read previous match threads you would see that BP was mostly a pug server. We didn’t have large wvw focused guilds, we didn’t use TS much, and our wvw presence would rise and fall with morale. Basically, we weren’t organized.
The ‘numbers’ you all bemoan are typically the guilds which have now organized those pugs, uniting them in voice chat. The guilds and commanders now working together to provide some consistency to our coverage.
Don’t mistake it for zerging, because its not pugs on a karma train following any blue hat on the map.

I feel like I can look up past match up threads, and every BP bragging screen will be posted after SBI all goes to bed. It happens all the time.
What time do you guys go to bed? This was at like 8pm PST last night.
I think yesterday was PvE night, didn’t you get the memo?
Haha, I know. It was just too perfect a setup not to respond to. You guys were clearly not in wvw last night. People left your BL due to boredom.
And yea, the PvE zerg was in full effect as well in BP. Everyone has gone into a loot frenzy with the new content. I was actually surprised at how many BP and Ebay did show up last night.

also, there are conditions cleansing skills, tons of them, even aoe
Pretty much this. Not only can you cleanse conditions yourself, but there are group cleansing skills and combo fields/finishers that also remove conditions.

Unscrupulous members of [Slay] from Borlis Pass, if you find yourself in an area in which you do not belong, no matter how you wound up there, it is your responsibility to leave. Hanging out in SBI’s Citadel for half an hour, killing our crafting NPC’s(one of which I needed to craft sharpening stones), scouting our golems(with the possibility of killing them, as un-piloted they are not invulnerable), rezzing your dead over and over again, are in my opinion actions deserving of account bans and/or character deletion. Those who could be targeted were reported. I only hope that ANet gives this incident all the attention it deserves.
Wow, I haven’t seen anyone do this in a long time. Not since Dolo from Ebay was doing it to BP some months back. Its not cool. Even if its meant as innocent fun, it doesn’t look good.
Just like having someone from an Ebay guild transfer to BP and then stand around in EB BL while his guild is running on the map and admit to being in TeamSpeak with them. Is it possible for him to tell which direction people are going, where commander tags are located, what’s being said in map chat, and if there are golems being ported around? Absolutely. Look, the guy was really nice even while I gave him crap, and he may have been very honest and ethical and said nothing to his own guild that would have given them an advantage – but it doesn’t look good.
Raingarde – Level 80 Necromancer
I agree that a lot of PvE doesn’t require you to play your character’s combat abilities to the fullest. You can spam auto-attack and heals and do pretty well most of the time. But not all of the time. Go to Orr solo and try spamming your auto-attack, dodge and heals and see if you can run around easily laying waste to everything.
My first character in the game was a Guardian, which I still play as my main. When I was new to the game I thought I was awesome because I could tank pretty well. And in time I realized that I actually sucked pretty bad. There was a lot I wasn’t aware of, like the importance of clearing conditions, breaking stuns, and stacking buffs at the appropriate time. I didn’t realize the importance of control and speed. And I didn’t have a clue about combo fields and finishers.
Only after I got into WvW and started to really take the time to perfect the Guardian class did I realize just how terrible I really was at playing a Guardian, even though I felt uber in PvE because I could attack and heal.
So while it seems like combat is shallow – and I do realize why that’s the case – there is actually some depth to it. Its just not always necessary, especially in easy/mild PvE combat.

When I see WFD open field fighting is not the 1st thought that goes through my head.
I’m sure the first thought that goes through your head is “run away”.
Raingarde – Level 80 Necromancer
People sure are interesting. Here you have ‘boring’ label being tossed because we run away and hide in towers, and right above it a post criticizing a 25 min video of BP where you almost never see us hiding in towers, cowering from a fight, or building walls of arrowcarts in order to win.
But this is Ebay and Ive come to expect no less on the forums from you guys.
The whole boring thing was actually started by SBI : |
Doesn’t help that the video you guys posted doesn’t really prove much other than how many numbers you have. Look at what Hawk and GH were able to do with less than your numbers. You guys should post a new SOUL video instead, that would work so much better to prove your point than WFD + Pugs lol.
Also, look at your own Egos in that video. But then again, this is BP and we’ve come to expect no less :]
I’m so proud of you guys, Ebay Jr!
WFD can pull pretty big numbers at times – we are a large guild after all. Our primary commander is well known and when the guild is running with him its common for pugs to gravitate to him and we end up with a pretty large army. I would agree that WFD is known for doing a lot strategically with limited manpower and resources, in fact I rarely see that, because its not really our focus.
From my perspective WFD is focused primarily on field tactics and enjoys engaging the enemy in the open. That’s not to say we don’t cap camps/tower/keeps, because we do, but we aren’t one to stick around, upgrade it, run yaks, build siege, etc. We like to find enemy zergs to decimate. If you watch the video that should be pretty obvious.
Even so we aren’t really hardcore WvW guild. We don’t do armor checks, require players to run specific builds, or specify our group’s composition (meaning certain numbers of each class). So yea, you might find the smaller skill groups are able to do more with less, but that wasn’t really the point of the post.
The point I was making is that people are pretty full of kitten. Personally, I think people just like to throw criticism at the things they hate (usually when they get stomped, or are losing) to try and make their opponent change their behaviors in order to win praise in the forums. It like, if you criticize us enough for being too strategic and focused on points then maybe we’ll feel like we can earn your praise and respect if we stop and just roam around aimlessly.

Sometimes the dailies force players to play change the way they play. By making players play in areas they are not in the mood to play. This can leave whole other zones nearly empty. This goes against the play your own way philosophy.
Wrong.
Nothing is forced. Players make their own choices.
Again, people need to accept responsibility for their behaviors and choices. Look in the mirror, the game doesn’t force it or even require it. Its totally a choice.
I see people say “forced” all the time and I see your typical response. Semantics. Ok we know people are not technically forced, we didn’t even need to buy the game. They add things in like this though that creates the feeling of needing to log in. Do you really need to? No of course not. If you want to stay up on the best gear though, you had better. That is where it became an issue, is when they added laurels into it.
Personally I don’t have any challenges with it, I get mine done everyday. That’s me though. I try to have empathy for others who can’t instead of telling them it sucks to be them.
The issue I have with dailies in any game, and I have said this before; is that it starts off fine, some daily content gives people something to focus on each day. Then they decide they want to add more daily content, and more, and eventually you log in and there is this mass of daily things you feel you need to accomplish. Again you can choose to not do that, but there is a reason they do it. They design it that way so most people will do it. So you’re not forced but they are definitely trying to steer you that way and they are banking on it, literally.
The semantics in this case are very important. Big difference between forced and encouraged and the complaint is thakittens forced. Look, I get that laurels are the easiest way for most people to get ascended items, but no one is forced to have them. People just want them and they want them so badly that they make the choice to not enjoy the game in pursuit of this reward.
That is a decision made by the player. It is their choice and behavior they are unhappy with.
If these were required items to say access other parts of the game, or remain competitive, then you might have more of argument that players are being forced to grind daily. But thats not at all the case as it stands now.

No you are wrong!
If a daily says to kill X number of enemies in one region. You will most likely finish your dailies in that region. But what if a player doesn’t have much time. And they wanted to play in a different region only to find that the daily does not reward them for doing so.
Then the player CHOOSES to work towards a reward instead of playing the way they want. Its not forced, its just a choice. If you decide a reward of a certain type is more important than having fun in your preferred method, again that is your decision., and not a requirement of the game.

Hey, I spent a month collecting Laurels for an Ascended ring only to find out that I can’t have two of the same rings equipped.
NOWHERE did the game inform me that I couldn’t have two of the same Ascended item, and since I tried to equip it and it unequipped the other ring, it instantly became Soulbound.
Talk about a discouraging waste. A post was made and a ticket was submitted and neither got a reply.

People who are compelled to play even when they don’t want to play, or who farm tirelessly for an item but don’t find farming fun, or who grind for a reward and hate grinding, are mistaken to blame the game’s design. You all need to take a hard look in the mirror and take ownership of your own behavior.
Stop acting like a victim. The game is giving you a way to earn a reward, which is completely optional and of no consequence in your ability to play the game to its fullest. Your choices and your behaviors are what’s making you dissatisfied.

. I know, you play for points and siege.
In other words, we WvW?
In other words, you’re boring..
BP likes to play for watching numbers increase, and SBI tends to treat the numbers like Who’s Line Is It Anyway show motto: the points don’t matter.
Personally I am much more of a solo / <4 man roamer, so I judge a server’s worth based on their players skill, which BP doesn’t have a whole lot of.
In some instances you may be right, but in others you are making a false judgment of someone’s skill. I know because my ability to fight 1v1 or in small groups is terrible when I’m playing my Guardian, but excellent when playing my Necromancer. That doesn’t have anything to do with my skill, it has everything to do with how I built my characters.
My Guardian weapons, runes, traits, and utility skills are designed to buff me and my allies, and this only really shines when I’m in mid-large size groups. So if you catch me off on my own for whatever reason, and I can’t convince you that I’m not worth the time (because it is going to take a while to down me) you will eventually spike me because I don’t do enough burst damage to 1v1 most people – especially people who run small groups and solo.
So what you see as a lack of skill may just be from your perception of what skill means, which is solo/small roaming groups, and mine might be the ability for my mid-large size team to consistently beat their opponent.

How the color translates onto the armor piece depends on the material of the armor. Abyss is the darkest black on metal armor, but on cloth or leather I believe there are other dyes that are darker.
If you have metal armor and you want it to be ‘black’ and not ‘old faded black t-shirt black’ then you want Abyss.

Just about the only thing in the game that I look at and give anyone any real respect for is their WvW titles, and that’s just because it signals an estimate on how much time they have put into WvW.

Every time there is a new Living Story, with new unique loot, everyone freaks out and ’just has to have it now!". The sad lot of them farms for it too.
The Molten Facility gloves, the Super Adventure Box weapons, the Southsun super-creepy Karka back piece, etc. All of them are ‘the thing’ and then a few weeks later when new stuff is released people forget all about it.
So don’t sweat it. In a month there will be something else you will want more.

Let’s play the scenario out then, shall we? Let’s say there are no more dailies.
What is better now? Nothing.
What really changed? We lost one option, an easy option, to earn the coin, karma, and a bonus reward once per day.
So if we just lose the once-a-day reward, what does it get replaced with? No reward? An ongoing every second of the game reward? An every hour you are logged on you get a reward type of reward? What?
I get it. People want what they want, and they don’t want to accept the rationale behind the system that prevents them from getting their way. And then there is the, “Its not fair the way I play” people who think that something can be everything to everyone. It’s not, and it never will be, and that’s OK; not everything is needs to be fair or equal to all.

Is that why SBI is taking all of Ebay’s stuff in Eternal and not attacking BP at all? Because BP puts up a good asset defense? Pretty lame way to play.
No one wants to treb for 3 hours to avoid the 15 AC BP will build. I am sure your points look nice, but it is just plain boring.
So it is because they put up a good defense…
And you’d rather PvDoor? And that’s not boring?
We would rather fight you(BP). We could care less about your tower. We want to fight you(BP). But all you(BP) do is hide and build AC.
Take just now at Bay. You(BP) guys have equal numbers, easily, and you(BP) choose to setup as many AC that you(BP) can plausibly build, and just hide behind a wall of AC, instead of fighting….
These kind of posts always make me smile. Heaven forbid we do something that is effective in helping us to win or defeat our opponents! Yes, we should change our strategy now that you have enlightened us to the ways of WvW.
BP hides in towers!
BP only zergs!
BP hides behind siege!
So if I understand all the criticism correctly, BP should never defend anything, only stay out in the open field in small groups, and never utilize one of the key elements of WvW – siege.
And oh yea, we shouldn’t worry about the silly little things like camps, towers and keeps! Why how ignorant of us to think they are somehow important since they clearly are not important to you. Yes, yes! That’s it. Ok, now we that we know we can change how we play so that when we come to the forums you sing the praises of how glorious and honorable BP is on the battlefield!
Stupid.

So yeah Kaineng. Dat Briar fight. Only one thing really came to mind. I was that Bronze Raider necromancer at the top of the stairs
This battle over Briar was the most fun I’ve had in WvW in a while. I was in that tower for over a hour!

You are going to find good WvW action on pretty much any server. The top rated servers just have more people playing consistently day and night, and from what I understand you will face a lot of really large scale fights (harder to get small roaming battles or solo fights), major skill lag, and a lot of general slowdown with the Anet servers struggling to keep pace. You will also run into queues more often, meaning you may have to wait to play. On the upside, these servers will be well organized with leadership and a lot of action.
If you want to be able to jump into WvW, not wait for a queue, and perhaps run with small groups you should look at some of the mid-tier servers, say ranks 8-19 or so. You will still find a lot of action, but the size of the fights will generally be smaller, so less skill lag and more opportunity for skirmishes and solo fights, and fewer to no queues.
What Stone is trying to say is Tarnished Coast.
Actually, Borlis Pass has a great WvW community and we are right in the middle of the WvW rankings. We have a server TeamSpeak and have been slowly moving our way up in the rankings. We don’t have the downside of queues (except on occasion), and you should rarely run into skill lag. Plus, you will be able to find small skirmish battles or solo play since the maps wont be crowded with huge armies roaming 24/7 crushing anything that’s not 70+ strong for manpower.
If you want to be part of a growing, improving server, and want to join a server where your addition could actually be of help, the Borlis Pass might be a good choice.

I’ve been playing since February fairly casually. I commute 5 days a week to a 40 hour corporate job, am a homeowner who has to maintain upkeep on a home and yard, and I’m a single dad of a 2 year old. So my play time is limited to nights when my daughter goes to bed and on the weekends when she is with her mom, granted I have nothing else to do.
That’s pretty casual.
I’ve got PLENTY of gold in this game so far and I’ve spent it fairly recklessly, especially during the first few months I played when I didn’t understand the game well. I’ve got 2 level 80s, one with map completion, both all wearing ascended gear (minus back), one with a mix of T1/T3 cultural armor and the other with Vigil armor and aT2 cultural helm. Plus I’ve purchased The Crossing staff which was about 120G, plus I’ve bought a Commander hat. One character has Abyss and a F&F dye for her armor.
Through all of that I’ve still got over 100G banked and I don’t sell my materials; in fact I’ve got over 250 globs as I’ve had to start collecting them in my bank now. I don’t farm, I don’t ever run CoF, and I often spend a good amount of time in WvW.
So has gold been hard to come by for me? Not in the slightest. I’ve got everything I want for both 80s (except for 20 slot bags) and I’ve still got plenty of gold. I’d say I gain 1-2 gold each time I log in to play.
