I love the people who say “Just join a bigger guild too.” I think the point that some people are missing is the fact that we have such a thing as guild pride. I have been in a smaller guild from day 1. My guild earns a good deal of influence but I can tell you one thing that was not invested in was Art of War. We chose to skip that useless tree in favor of using things that matter like the MF buffs and others. I think it’s insane to throw the first mission in that tree, and so high up as well. There needs to be a lower entrance barrier for smaller guilds.

In case you guys were wondering my guild has around 25 players, with 3-10 who will be active at any given moment. We choose this lifestyle because big guilds are too restrictive. You can not have a voice in a large guild. You can not know everyone in one. Most of the time, the only people that are heard are the loudest and I know there are a lot of people in GW2 who don’t like that.

All I ask of this update is to give us smaller guilds a chance. You said this would be a great way for guilds to build a name on the server and that’s what I want to do. Nothing beats seeing your name at the beginning of a tourney or seeing your emblem on a freshly taken WvW camp. Don’t deprive others the chance to have that and feel pride in their guild.

Each guild mission type becomes available through an upgrade that is researched in the guild tech tree. The first one is Guild Bounties, which does require Art of War level 5.

Is this true for all missions? If it is then it is a HUGE hit to smaller guilds. I know mine is only at level 2 and we don’t have enough faction to get to Art of war level 5. It’s basically gating off content and promoting larger guilds.

Honestly, the best way is to save up jugs of karma and then use ice cream+ guild banner+ guild buff+ booster for 175% karma and open them all.

Now there’s also an infusion that gives +15% karma if you want to use that as well, but you can only get it and the item you can add it to with laurels.

I already have done this. I never miss a daily or monthly and have recently stack them all with the buffs for Orrian Jewelry Box. I have the warm and hard potion but am going for the Cool potion. So I need an added method.

This has bugged me as well! I wear cleric’s sets and apoc sets a lot and not having a higher level of them has been frustrating. Luckily I was able to settle on Luna and Solaris to be a more balance character. I would like to see these added in the future however.

So you want a contested loot system? And you also want to take away combo fields for everyone not in your party? This just sounds silly. People party all the time. If you like playing with someone, party them. The advance? Quick access to information like their health, boons, and conditions, paired with the ability to talk to them privately. You could whisper but that is if you only like being with one person. There should be no disadvantages for people who don’t want to party either. What you said would people a lot of people out

I wasn’t really sure that this was a problem until I sat at the rich ori mine and noticed several lv 2 characters mining the nod with no problem. I don’t that that this is something should really be allowed. There should be some sort of level restriction on nods so countless alts aren’t created and safely ran to mine ori. There must be some level commitment to a character to a character before it can make you that kind of money. If normal picks have a lv 60 requirement, make that apply to all mining tools please.

There is a vet spider event in the ruins in the SW of timberline falls that spawns on top of the commune skill point there that does not scale down correctly.

There is a vet spider that spawns outside of the event in the same location that does spawn correctly.

You should invest in some Spy kits for these types of skill points! They make these kinds of situations much more manageable if you are having a bit a trouble.

As for the champion question.. I believe that any class can solo those types of events as long as you have your class down. It also helps to know the bosses attack patterns so you can dodge or block ((If you have one)) at the right times. Personally my favorite champ soloing class is my necro because I can control the battleground with my marks and have a second health bar for those mistake moments. With a little practice we all can get the hang out it =)

Honestly this is just stupid. So you want to punish a person for a fractal DC? Guess what.. A DC in a fractal is it’s own punishment. Suggesting that they should be punished even more for something that is out of their control is lunacy. The internet they have is the internet they can afford to have. Anet is not in the business of kicking people while they are down nor will they.

Basic Transmutation Stones share the same problem as many things in this game. There is no point in investing in something that will be obsolete by the time you reach lvl 80. Minor and Major Runes are an other example of this. You really don’t need to care about runes until you are 80 so you’d rather save your money for Superiors.
This is also the reason why I don’t craft. Because this aspect of the game basically failed on the promise that we wouldn’t need to craft hundreds of worthless items to finally be able to get to the useful ones.

So it’s not a problem exclusive to transmutation stones but I too would welcome anything that could change my stack of Basics into something useful

I would have do disagree with you on the fact that crafting is something that becomes useless when you get to 80. With crafting you can create all sorts of gear for you alts and a lot of the crafted skins on the way to 80 have a nice and unique feel to them. It is very helpful!

Now about the stones.. I have been wanting something like this for awhile too. Sure I may use a stone here or there on the way to getting more alts to 80 but I have accumulated WAY more than I will ever need. With a fair exchange rate at the forge you will find a lot of happy customers =)

I am very worried about the future of the necro is the AoE nerf hits them in any form. Using a series of wells and marks in the battlefield seems to be the only thing on the necro that I feel was done right. It is what makes the class enjoyable and playable. This could very well kill the class!

A year is a VERY reasonable promise no new tier. Especially considering that is more that double the time that the game has come out. Think of how much you have done, and how much progression you have made on one of all of your characters. By the time 2014 comes everyone will be ready for some new stuff.

The problem that people had with ascended weapons was that they came out way too soon. People will be ready this next time and even an expansion will be welcome! Let’s hear it for more skill points!!

Remember the Halloween jumping puzzle? I hope I don’t end up having to do it again.

You won’t lose any achievement progress and will get full credit for all that kind of thing, absolutely. The only stuff that might need to be capped are achievements that extend infinitely that a handful of people have taken to extreme levels, we’ll discuss other options as well but I think if an effort to be transparent, it’s better to get out ahead of expectations so no one is surprised.

Colin, will we still be rewarded for the things like map completetion? I am wondering if I should wait to level the last 3 of my alts and get 100% until after? Will that sort of thing be retroactive also?

Can I just say, as a huge fan of the original game that I LOVE TITLES. In guild wars 2 however I have felt like they have been very lacking and not as rewarding as they used to be. This didn’t stop me from completing as many as the achievements as I could because, well, I just am addicted to that kind of thing. I have managed to hit just over a 4k score with no real incentive.

I feel with this new system the score you see will actually matter now and people will start to pay attention. Including map specific dailies and achievements will also drive people back to PvE and in a way that will repopulate the world. Let’s face it, most people are running either instanced dungeons(mostly fractals), or are involved in some sort of PvE environment. The fact that you will be able to earn these tokens and trade them in for things like ascended items is even more exciting. With increased loot drops I think Anet can really reward huge PvE fans in the way that they have been missing in the past.

Now with this new system I think there is still a couple things we need to know.

Will token rewards be retroactive for people like me that have had a head start getting their achievement points? How about the map completion?
How easy will these tokens be to obtain?
Will they be account bound?
Will the be rolling out new titles or find ways to make them more visible to others? ((Cool special effects would be great))
Could this idea be linked to the future legendary precursor scavenger hunt?
Most importantly.. How long until we see this amazing new system?

I wish I were making it up. These people were very anxious from the very beginning and caused problems. Like I said my guildie was not being a perfect angel to them but that is only because he is a lv28 fractal player and they were telling him how to play maw. The part that worried me before was that before we went into battle one said that they could 2 man maw if they had to ((Other guildie had to take a bio break before and the didn’t feel like waiting)) Once I had the attention and support of my guildie I kicked them.

Has there been any mention of the kicking system in the past? Or about possible changes to make it more fair?

So, I just came from a fractal where things were going a little rough. Now knowing how PuG groups can be, I just accepted that my guildies and I were going to have to work a little harder to make up for these guys.

We get to the end of the final fractal level ((Maw)) and one of the players start yelling at my guildie about dodging backwards to avoid maw’s attack instead of grabbing a crystal. My guildie, admittedly being teasing the other player a bit dodges the next attack with mist form which isn’t really a problem to because he isn’t dying and is doing damage to other things. In an act of rage this play requests a kick and his other warrior friend seconds it. Just like that one of my guilies who has been working extra hard to support one of these players is now out of his chest and daily.

Do you believe this is fair? I had to say that in the moment I wasn’t sure what to do. I knew that my guildie was already out but I couldn’t let these two characters get away with depriving him of something just because they didn’t like his actions. They in no way justified a kicking. With that in mind I felt that they too should be kicked. It wasn’t something I wanted to do but an eye for an eye seemed to be the only way to make the crimes fit. Afterwards I blocked and reported them both to make sure they wouldn’t be group with me again.

I’m here on the forum to ask if my actions were wrong? Were they right? What would have all of you done in that sort of situation?

I also want to know why the kick system only requires 2 votes. Shouldn’t it be at least 3 so the majority of the group can at least decide?

Please tell me what you guys think, and be as blunt as possible.

Something must be done about this. I was lucky enough to create an armor set when they were just released but now that these flowers are harder to obtain the recipe is just insane. Anet should not be punishing people for their choice in stats. The drop rate is also insane. I have only found one in my time casually farming the karka.

I know I am a bit late to this topic but I thought I would put in my thoughts before the next patches come out and we shift our discussion.

So I recently came back to my necro main after a long holiday of focusing on Alt leveling. I ran a few dungeons and realized immediately that fear was not working like it used to. Before this point fear was my main tool of buying my party a little time to save them when I needed. I would interupt deadly boss kill moves and divert them from a dying ally while another would come in and save. With this new change I can really do none of that and my stock as a necro in dungeons have dropped significantly.

Yes you can manage your stacks of defiance but that becomes increasing difficult with PuG that refuse to communicate with each other. I have also received some negative feedback when joining group that I don’t know for just being a necro. It is regrettable because despite how good I may be a necro joining randoms will always be an uphill battle to prove myself.

I know it is a long shot but I believe that fear should be looked at again in terms of it’s ability CC bosses. It makes the necro more viable in a game where they struggle to overcome their shortcoming. That, or give us something to make playing a necro worthwhile again.

Not from sigil either. I have a luck sigil on and my gear is MF with runes. I have turned off all my combo fields and running alone. After a little more testing I think that my necrotic grasp is picking up enemy combo fields and lingering. Not sure if it is something worth reporting as it doesn’t break anything.

Alright I have come here because something has been bugging me as of late. I have noticed from time to time my necrotic grasp skill will have a bolt of lightning trailing it. At first I assumed that this was because there was an ele behind me who was on the same page as me. After I realized that it happened more and more. Most of the time I am alone with no other classes nearby.

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know a possible cause of it?

I do find this kind of strange.. Especailly considering that so many traits are built around it and the fact that we have a 5 trait that raises one too. One of the first things that we see when we roll a necro is the minion healing skill and we learn then just how underwhelming they are. I’m not a minion fan but still think that it should be fixed in some way, even if it just starts with a change in philosophy.

The posting is being weird so I am going to see how well this works =P

Firstly.. No one is crying or whining. I am trying to tell you that people have a valid reason to be upset about the class. I personally love the necro and wouldn’t swap it for the world. But you can not let people think that it doesn’t have its faults. You just need to warn them about it in a mature way. So stop making assumptions of tone based on your biased view of people on this forum.

Now you are mistaken about life siphoning. It is not strong. I have speced for it and it was disappointing. Most of time it ticks for 25 which is only useful when you are attacking and that is only really useful when using a fast attack like a dagger. The least it should do is match the power of regen which does much more and scales with healing power. The fact that it isn’t being rewarded by ANY stat is undesirable. Yes you could go dagger and have the power of the life siphon skill itself but that is restrictive and not every wants to go so close in a game that punishes you for using melee.

As far as the death shroud you are mentioning. That is a bug/exploit. For all we know, this is something that is/will be fixed. New players(Which you are trying to turn onto necros) don’t know about this. Most probably won’t. It shouldn’t be a exploit it should be in the game. I should be able to gather a rich vein in death shroud because it is my class mechanic and it should be working with me not against me. Surely you must agree with that. You would not rage on the forums if you saw that they allowed it in the next patch notes. You would probably smile and do a small victory arm pump. ((We all would))

As far as the “Sea of random mobs” you should know that it is for farming nodes in or which a lot of people do. Every now and then you must kill a couple of mobs to stay alive or save your running buddy. And you will pay the in combat speed reduction for it on your way to your next ori node. And as I stated, it is in dungeons that the jagged horror is most problematic. Spots like in CM right before the last boss when you have 2 snipers on the bridge and no guardian. Team switches to long range weapons because the snipers are on the bridge and on the stairs leading to them these is a mob or 10 enemies. If jagged horror is up I have to wait for it to die before I can join because if I don’t the little hellion will charge up the stairs and passed everyone we were putting off on fighting. The worst part is that some necros are unaware that it happens because not every necro is as good as the next. And one again, it is practically a required trait.To all newbies reading this. Please try the necro because it is very fun and a play style that is unmatched in my opinion. Just be educated in things you will have to work around for now.

On necros being "broken"

Well we are not completely broken, but we do have certain things that are holding us back from being what we are meant to be. I am a 400+ hour necro main and I can see alot of these things.

1) Minions. Everyone knows that their AI is horrible. I dont use them but it would be nice to know that I could if I so desired.

2)Life siphoning. Now I this may be because I played a blood necro in GW1 but this department leaves something to be desired. I was also very disappointed that the traits did not recieve a boost from from something like healing power. They were just set and there was little I could do about it.

3)Death shroud. For some reason you can not rez in it, you can not finish in it, talk to npcs, harvest nodes, or even see what sort of conditions are still on you. It’s a great feature that I love but it is really being held back by all the things I can’t do with it as opposed to what I can.

4)Yes the bleed cap! No I saw there other ways around this and most of the time it doesn’t bother me at all because I live in dungeons, but the cap really hurts your pve necros. When farming in orr and I come across a boss event it seems impossible for my septer to put out enough damage to be effective and forget about me 33% longer conditions being useful. Can I be using another build when I am doing that? Sure. But I shouldn’t have respec for an event that I wasn’t planning on coming across. We should all be able to play the game the way we want to play it.

5)Jagged Horror. I suspect this was meant to scare necros more than the enemies. This little minion slows you down, aggros everything, and takes way too long to die. Often I find myself responsible to pulling mobs in dungeons with spectral grasp and I have to wait a considerable amount of time before I can pull again because if I target with this little hellion alive he will charge the group we are trying to weaken and ruin my day. This is all thrown in with the fact that it an unavoidable stat if you desire death magic toughness or the benefit of staff enhancing traits like I do. Something like this should NEVER be a 5 point skill. You trolled us good ANET!

There are plenty more things that hold us back but that is all I will say for now. Anet did fixed the major issues with life siphoning and made out plus life force trait actually work so it is a step in the right direction!

Passion Flower drop rate broken?

Has anyone else been have a really hard time finding these? I read that they come from the passion fruit nodes but I have harvested 250 of them with no sight of a single flower. This is very frustrating considering it is that stat combination that I am looking for. Can anyone actually confirm that they drop this way or tell me the drop rate?

Using your skills on the targeted enemy will make them attack that target. This however can have a bad effect if you are pure minion as most of the minion skills involve their destruction. Ohhh and your silly little golem with run right through the target and aggro everything behind them >.<

Diversifying Build Viability

Necros do lack a lot of diversity. Most that I see run heavy condition builds that revolve around the scepter. The thing I hate about this is the fact that there is a bleed cap and how easily some classes can remove conditions. Because of this I have decided to stray away from this kind of build. That did however lead me to a well/spectral build. I really would like to have a pure power option to make use of a full clerics set. If daggers were buffed like you said I believe it would make perfect use of the stats.

As far as traits go I would have to disagree. Most of the valuable trait’s for a necro are south of the typical power enhancers. I am currently running 10/0/20/20/20 and find it to be very survivable. When all the bugs are fixed I might even have reason to reinvest that 10 down one of the lines too.

This has bothered me as well. We really do lack a lot of fear options and the fact that two other classes can fear longer than is us is kinda ridiculous. We should be the most feared class!

I also wouldn’t replace the skills function. Having the enemy run away is extremely useful. I use it in dungeons and WvW to get the enemy exactly where I want them so I allies can finish them off. Not to mention the countless time is has saved me in the jumping puzzles. Fearing to their death is by far the most hilarious form of death I can think of =)

I know it may be a little soon to be calling for new elites in future expansion but I have to say it! I would love a well elite for the necromancer. Right now I run a well heavy build for dungeons and my elite bar has always felt empty. The forms are decent for certain situations but I feel like spending time in them takes away from other things I could be doing with my death shroud and marks. An elite well would be perfect for providing AoE conditions with the ability to keep with the flow of battle.

As far as an Idea of what it could do, I think life stealing for you and your allies would be ideal!

If it is meant to be that way it is a slap in the face. Our class mechanic should work with us to make the game more enjoyable for us few necromancers, not against us. My hope is that is one of the many things overlooked by the necromancer class bugwise. I want to be playing to my full potential!
