Is anyone curious how this will work? I know it was said that have to equip the armor for the skin to unlock, but if you are buying say a heavy piece on your light armor class how would that work? I’m assuming that the transmutation window is gone so we can put it on things we can’t equip anymore.

Perma contested waypoints is NOT a good idea. Usually I am supportive and I think you guys are doing a great job, but come on. My computer is not the fastest, and I already get stuck in loading screens. Now you’re saying I am going to have to port to a map safe spot, and then again to where I want to go? Is there even going to be enough places open in orr? Wont this double the cost of waypoints? This feels like a giant obstacle to me, and I don’t think there is any justification that would make me feel better about it.
Loving the other stuff though >.>
It’s not a “totally different game.” It’s a squeal to a game made by the same company with the same ideas of how a game should work. Therefore, it stands to reason that they would want to encourage the sort of diversity that came with the original. If you look at how new traits are acquire, it already resembles the skill hunting that you found in gw1. If they add savable builds, they should do it in the same manor.
Paying addition money to open up experimentation is what would be unreasonable. And if they did restrict it like that, I can 100% guarantee that it will be fought about up and down the forums until everyone’s fingers are blue.
The objective of this patch is open up the game, no restrict it.
First thing I thought of =o But we would need a lot more than 2 free slots. Once you can save builds, people will start trying crazy things. It will really open up diversity ^.^
Buy in gem store if you need more than two. Simple as that.
In gw1, I had a minimum of 10 specs for each class, and almost everyone that I knew that played did. Just 2 spots for free would be a huge mistake, and I think anet would already know that. IF a restriction was to be added, it should be much larger, as there will be dozens of builds a person will want to save on their main.
The Art of Combat: Class balance discussion. New sigils and runes discussed
Critical!: Crit changes, and talks about gear stats.
A New Way to Explore the Looks of Guild Wars 2: Discussion on using existing world content to acquire new skills and traits!!
A Colorful Outlook: Please be new dye system! I want account bound dye, and the ability to dye more things, like hair pieces and maybe to a controlled extent, weapons
Looking For Group?: I’m stumped on this one
Removing Restrictions: All classes get all weapons!! Who doesn’t want this??
Account-Bound: The removal of soul bound equipment. Your exotics will now be able to be swapped to other characters in one account!! No more wasted gear =P
A Solid Foundation: Talks about the future of gw2 and how to open up room for expansions ^.^ This is wishful thinking =)
Facilitating Friendly Play: Talks about how to make helping people more rewarding. Maybe lowering total loot requirements on mobs, better tutorial systems for new players, and training zones for pvp? idk.
First thing I thought of =o But we would need a lot more than 2 free slots. Once you can save builds, people will start trying crazy things. It will really open up diversity ^.^
I know a lot of people who have been through the 11 and 14 scenario and I think that changing the way traits work is going to be awesome. It will really help new players get the most out of their builds without hurting themselves unknowingly.
And when you talk about getting bored, you have to remember your first days in gw2. Getting to level 30 isn’t about trait points. It’s about learning your weapons, unlocking all of the new skills, and deciding how you play the game. There is a lot that new players have to learn, which is why it will be much easier on them in the long run.
And this new trait anywhere option is going to be great for someone who caries around multiple armor sets ^.^ Now we just need a saved build option like gw1!!! The more this game can reflect that one, the better it will be =)
It’s great for those duel sword condi builds. Moar bleeds! Faster cripples! I can hear all the outrage now ^.^
I’d love to see it this year. Anywayz I’d love to get new playable race. Skrit anyone?
There is another =o The Skritt shall walk this earth in numbers!!
But on topic, I believe an expansion is around the corner. That is why they hyped the dragon rise. We will get our first expansion, followed by the second living story =)
I love how dramatic people get before a big release hits. You already know something is on the way, so why question their focus? For all you know, everything you’ve ever wanted is waiting in the feature patch.
Btw, this game is a steal at $60 and no sub fees. I’ve gotten a lot more out of it than any other $60 game!
SAB will be back on the 1st, and the feature patch will be the 15th. Those are my predictions based on the ready up schedule =P
This really bugs me. I worked hard to get the right in place, only to find the halo looks like a spaghettio. It’s not even centered x.x I really hope they fix this.
I am really hoping something like this comes soon. What I imagine with new elites is that each one also be tied to an existing utility type so they can have some sort of synergy with existing builds. I’d really love an elite well on my necro, or maybe a good signet on my ele to encourage signet build play.
I’d also like to see some less powerful elites with lower cooldowns to help builds out.
I don’t think a fix is out of the question. The thing about weapon dye channels is that every weapon has a unique look to it. Letting us dye them might take away from that a little, especially with the weapons that are just recolored ones.
Yeah, I guess it wouldn’t be too much of a problem if the selection was better. And the hairstyles we currently have are already limited. Maybe if people keep on bringing it up someone will listen. There has to be more people that this bothers -.-
Hairpieces have to be one of the most frustrating part of adjusting my characters in GW2. There are many great hairstyles that use things like ribbons and pins to create something that looks really great, but the color options that you are given are just poor. It puts the player in a place where they have to use a basic dye just match the ribbon and that really kills any sort of cool look that you are trying to create. It also makes matching armor and weapons nearly impossible.
Normally I would just pass up the hairstyle but I have found some I really like and think this issue should be resolved in some way. I’m not sure it would be enough to just open up all the color in the accessory panel either. Whatever it would take to make this happen, I think it’s worth looking into. Maybe add a dye panel somewhere for hair accessories ^.^
Please make this happen!
Here is a pic of my latest frustration! (Yes I know not all of the pin will dye anyways but I would still like an actually gold =] )
Changes like these are why I haven’t been playing my necro. Just remove our burning trait or move it to our precision tree and make it compete with terror in the grandmaster slot. That would solve everything and necromancers everywhere will feel like you care.
I like that you added the scaling with healing power for vamp master. It gives more reasons for the class to go cleric and feel rewarded.
I’m also hoping for some buffs the the else signet actives because they are very very lacking =\
In my opinion, cleric’s is the best for an MM. I use Life transfer to heals allies to keep my minions or my party members alive, and the enemy annoyed.
My mesmer really wants some knights gear in pvp. Make it happen please =)
Hey there!
I’m here today because I have a need to fill. I come from a small guild for friends who have play Gw2 together since beta, and most have recently went inactive. I can manage to play the game alone but things are always better with a group of people you can really have fun with. So that is what I am looking for.
Here’s a little about my Gw2 life..
I have 8 lv80 characters fully geared
4 of those characters have 100% map completion
I do my achievements everyday and am sitting on just under 14k
I love to fit some dungeons on if I have time
When I’m feeling stabby I like small groups in WvW
PvP also fills this urge, but I am in no way pro xD
I’m online for at least 2 hours a day, even if just to check out the tp
Here are some things I’d like..
A guild with active guild chat
Weekly missions for fun and rewards
No 100% rep requirement ((In case I want to dungeon run with old guidies))
A sense of humor! ((24/7 gear discussion can be boring))
What can I give?
Advice on any class you can think of ((Necro is my best))
Help in dungeons and living story
General awesomeness!
As far as Rping is concerned, I can really go either way. Never tried much of it!
If you have any questions or want to question me, feel free to contact me in game! I really hope I can find a new home >.<
It’s not much, but I combined the human tier 1 pants with the devout set to create a chemist sort of feel for my necro. You cant see it in this pic, but I added the feather headpiece to give a little more class to the character.
I think the big problem is that everyone in the train thinks they are entitled to every champion on that train. Today I killed the lovely Oakheart to knock out my daily and put some champ progress towards my monthly, and people were rather rude, on the normally friendly TC server nevertheless. Apparently someone took a video of 3 of killing a champ without them and told the others they would post it on these forums in hopes that the dev would ban us or our guilds would kick us.
Of course I laughed at all of this. With the exception of killing unbuffed champs during the toxic alliance event, there is absolutely nothing wrong with attacking any mob in this game. This is not some free to play mmo where we wait in line to get out boss kills for a quest. Gw2 is so much better than that, and people saying otherwise in mapchat makes new players believe that the community is selfish. Let’s hope anet can find a way to fix this little issue.
P.s. I can’t wait to see that video =)
everybody is still talking about the t3 cultural. nobody is mentioning the WVW medium. That skin is no short investement to get, even though you can get it for basically achievement points now it is a LOT of wvw tokens.
In fact, only the heavy reskin is a “cheap” skin to acquire in game.
I was upset about that a bit, until I saw it and realized that it looked like crap. The original is a lot better
I don’t understand why they would put cultural armor on there for all classes to use. It’s suppose to be special for that race, and letting others races use it is just a slap in the face. I know I planned out my characters based on the cultural look I wanted for them, and if mine where to become available, I would be angry.
Please don’t make a mistake like this again. People will be upset, and they have every right to be.
That is understandable. Just know that the precision is basically a wasted stat for you and you should replace it if you find yourself playing the build for a long time.
I like this build, but have one issue. Why the need for the rabid gear? I have a full dire set and it seems like it would be a lot better for the traits you have. Besides that, I love the set up and might try it out before the reset.
Also, epidemic is not a great skill when it comes to roaming. Typically it’s a wasted slot because you find yourself in a bunch of 1v1s. Save that kinda stuff for group play and zergin dirty!
Guardians are the easiest for me to kill. Especially in WvW when I boon strip like crazy. It’s sad how weak they are without them. And blocking does nothing when your marks are unblockable. Second on the list has to be the thief. I know they have a lot of ability to escape but in truth most are predictable. Put some major cc on them and nuke the hell out of that house. After about 5 seconds pop DS and use life transfer to stop there heal channeling. Stomp when they appear again.
This point of view is strictly as a WvW Roamer.

The living story really needs to be connected. I think it should be viewed as a season and every 2 weeks a new episode should come out. This will keep people entertained and caring about what is going on. A lot of times it feels like what is happening is random and people don’t understand it.
Balance to living story mobs is also something that needs to be reworked. I can’t even begin to explain how frustrating it was to fight the aetherblades. Every single place I went I would get stunned or hit with a crazy amount of immobilize or confusion. It’s also not fun to get one hit when you are running a tankish build either. I know these things were done to slow zerging but there has to be another around the problem.
As far as rewards go we need to cool it on the minis. Yes people love minis every now and again but not as much as they are being rewarded. After the story is over you just throw it in your bank and never leave it again. It would be cool if you could make some sort of token system that is universal to the living story, ((Like with the black lion tickets)) and have it so you can trade in your living story tokens for an item that you actually want/need. As with the other system you could keep old items available but for increased currency and with that would avoid having to create anymore currency.
Class updates are always welcome from the living story too. There has been a lot of talk about gaining these new skills and I think it would be amazing to explain it in the story somehow. Maybe my necro undergoes some training to fight these new krait guys and suddenly picks up a sword! Surprise me anet!
The last thing that I really want to see is some old GW lore! Alot of time has passed since the first game and I really want to know what happened. Remember that amazing bonus mission pack for gw1? I think one of those could be in order! Alot of my favorite heroes have been lost and I still and tearing my hair out wondering what happened to the gods.. WHERE DID THE GODS GO ANET!!! PLEASE TELL US =)
I still can’t get over Bhawb calling us an in your face fighter class with one melee weapon that lacks cleave >.< Ohhh boy!
This addition is really going to save on time for those who are communing =) And is it safe to assume that this means 1 free skill point a day? That might give reason to always visit my home at reset.
It was fun last year! I ran the mad king dungeon like crazy to get my hands on a mad moon and used the rest of my money to craft the crossing. That dungeon was by far my favorite temp dungeon.
They are in the historical tab, so I think that’s the way they want to keep it. What does it matter when there are new achievements? Stop looking to past at what players that were there from the beginning worked hard for and just work for what is coming up now. Enjoy Halloween >.<
Thank god they did this. I took me a lot of work to get the crossing and mad moon last year and I was really hoping they would make it harder to obtain this year. Sure they may have gone a little overboard but it was a first year weapon and there should be some prestige to it. It shows that if you have one you are either a vet whole believed in the game early on, or you have dedicated enough time to the game to be an effective farmer. Either way I’m okay with it.
Thank you Anet =)
And don’t forget that there are other new weapons out. Anet didn’t even have to give you an option to obtain these.
I’ve seen the build and im not really a huge fan. The scepter doesn’t feel right to me at the moment. That’s why I have been staying away from it all together.
This is all really helpful. I’m think I am going to drop the signet of fire for water since it will help with condis and the active is a chill. I’m also going to look the focus like mentioned above because it appears to have more survivability. Other than that I guess it will be trial and error as a level up and reach my gear.
In WvW I don’t roam alone or in the zerg either. I’m usually part of a small 3-5 man hit squad to take camp, yaks, runes, and wandering enemies. There is also almost always a guardian there so I am not too worried about stun locks. I’m really just looking to be a quick survivable striker to clean up. I don’t know if that changes anything.
And thanks for not telling me I MUST go 30 in water and arcane. I hear that a lot on forums =P
Let me start off by saying I’m no ele expert. That’s why I wanted you real eles to look over this build I am putting together and tell me how well you think it will work out in PvE/WvW. In Dungeons I want to swap out a staff of scepter to be a little bit safer but I don’t think it will effect the build very much.
This is my second run through as an ele and I feel like I didn’t really master it the first time I went though. I decided to reroll as a charr this time for the tier 3 armor and stay away from cantrips. The celestial gear is because I have the mats for it preped in my inventory but I am willing to take other suggestions.
Tear away >.<
I actually see A LOT of eles. Then again, I play a lot of pve. They are in every dungeon I play outside of CoF. They are always running away from my necro in WvW. I even see a crazy amount of lightning hammer eles running around because it’s suppose to be one of the great dps builds.
I will admit that there are alot less of them than there were before. But that’s mostly because eles used to dominate everywhere in the game. People are realizing that they can get the job done with other classes with lower risk ((Gaurdian and Warrior)) and have more fun doing it too. This shouldn’t concern you though. It means that Anet will take notice and start give you buffs so you can do more things.
I mean it could be worse. You could be an engineer. Finding those guys is like stumbling across a gold mine. Of all the classes I have fully geared to 80 the engi was by far the most annoying >.<
How would skill points be a problem? Refund all skill points used on racail skills and TAAA DAAAA! Problem solved. You are not switching a profession you are only switching a race. Honestly they could not refund the racial skill points and it would still be fine. Gaining that many points as opposed to rerolling a character is nothing.
I will be interested to see what happens when they fix the sigil. I haven’t looked into the build too much because I don’t like to pick builds based off the meta, but I know warriors have gotten annoying. Almost every warrior I see now is running a stun build and as a necro with little access to stability, make one wrong move can cost me greatly.
I believe at some point the devs decided to make a huge nerf on fear by putting a cap on it. They said that they were trying to make sure there wasn’t large periods of time when a player couldn’t control their character because it was very frustrating to a lot of people. I think this is sort of the same situation but a little worse because it seems to have a lot more up time than the fear builds did. Hopefully help is coming soon.
I think this would be a great idea. I currently have 8 classes that are fully geared at level 80. One of them, my human ele, I’m not really happy with. So right now I have two choices. Either I deal with it and just never play my ele, or I spend gems on another character slot/delete the old toon and start the it all over again. It really is a pain and I would gladly let them strip away my characters personal story to let them do it.
As for the cultural armor, anet could do something like they did with mf and let you pick from a set of default crafting skins. I think that would be fair.
It is a little ridiculous. Especially being a necro with very limited access to stability and with knockdown not yet working with stun breakers. Yes you can beat them but the fact that there is little drawback to the build is what needs to change.
I want my scarecrow finisher >.< Help ANET!!!
It’s crazy post like this that makes me love reading the forums >.< The living story and it’s update pace is part of what is keeping GW2 flowing and exciting for a lot of people. I mean there is something fun to do every other Tuesday! I don’t think quality really suffers as the kinds of bugs that are happening are the same kinds of things that were happening before they went with that pace. With the exception of the awful world two water sprout bug, they didn’t have a major impact on game play either.
Keep doing what you’re doing Anet

It’s because you are not allowed to use the shortcut in Trib mode. You are being punished for trying to cheat you way passed the other stuff =P

Is anyone else having a really hard time with the water spouts going up the river? I have completed every zone and this is by far the hardest part of the game for me. Everytime I do my last jump I get flung back even though I have already made the jump. it really doesn’t make any sense and I haven’t made this section again since the first time I did it.
Is it lag or is this area just buggy? I could use some help -.-
Is anyone else encountering a problem where they can’t see the logs that are dropping down the waterfall? I was playing with my friends last night and was completely stumped before I was them the all jumping on air. As I would like to solo this place I was wonder if anyone has encountered this problem and knows how to fix it.
If it helps at all I also haven’t been able to see the moving boulders on COF path 1 for the past month, but always could before that.
I’ve bought a bunch of exotic MF sets now that they are so cheap so I can convert them into better armor stats when the update goes live..
Hell yeah I’m excited for Tuesday!
I was watching this subject like a hawk in hopes of the necromancer receiving some sort of cleave weapon. As far as when we will see this kind of thing.. I am guessing it will be much later in the year after they implement the system for obtaining new skills and traits. So much of what they have talked about is already on it’s way and that’s exciting!
Necromancer with ghostly bullets would be amazing btw >.<
MMORPG is a legitimate source for gw2 news. Whenever anything big happens in the game this site is one of the ones that Anet relies on to get the word out. It can be trusted.
