worth investing any points into this at all? would having 0 precision affect my gameplay? currently feel like removing all my air points and putting them into fire instead, since my dps is so crap. currently running 20 fire, 20 earth, 20 water. (i pumped hp/healing/toughness cause i got sick of getting owned constantly)
-NaughtyProwler.8653
I didn’t even know you could get them from mobs, I’ve only ever gotten oranges from zone completion.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
Just so ya’ll know, I saw a bot chopping wood, so it is entirely possible that people are bot farming wood/harvestables and spamming the tp with them. How do I know he was a bot? observation of his unnatural movement patterns eg. walking into obstacles and getting stuck, random dodge rolls when no enemy there, random shooting at thin air. etc..If you’ve seen many bots, you’ll eventually learn to pick out even the more sophisticated ones.
And now, people if you think your server is unplayable because of botting, i suggest changing server. i did. Tarnished coast has relatively few bots and a decent community (from my initial impressions anyway). Leave the bot infested servers and let them play with themselves in the meanwhile.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
Just re-read major parts of this thread and made a decision, with a heavy heart. I’m giving up to report botters, because the fact nothing has been changed for weeks except it became worse, no one from Anet shows a real reaction here EXCEPT measures and warnings against players for mentioning bot names or locations (lol…) gives me the certainty the way the reports go is not Report—->Customer Support—->Dev but Report—->Trash Bin.
This my friend, is the same thing I’ve been saying since the Great Jade Quarry Bot Plague of ‘10-’11. Ingame report is useless. It’s probably just there to troll us. The only way to get a response is to file a ticket on the support page to get a real, live support staff reply (and even then i have my doubts about the “live” part)

Firstly, I am not accusing you of doing anything untoward.
I am however, interested to know how you are playing eight characters without any 3rd-party automation.
There is no “follow” function in GW2, so how do you get your characters to where they need to be?
Once there, how do you actually DO anything with 8 characters at the same time?
Read his last post. He admits to using a key cloner, which IS a third party programn.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
I had a post infracted too, possibly for naming the bot locations. I don’t know. Let them censor then; its not going to make the bots go away. In the meanwhile the bots continue to ruin the economy while the state of the community goes down the drain. I did an event last night where only me and one other guy were the only human players, the rest were rangers +1 warrior bot. It felt so bizarre.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
All the jungle ones are my favourites. Also the sylvari lands with their exotic plants and bioluminescence, those are the places i stop to admire the most.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
Dye preview on tp is also badly needed, what with the ridiculous costs on rare dyes.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
I’d say yes to this, if only to shutup the constant spam of “ETA on dragon” in the public chat. Like I said, these guys need a huge neon signboard with a countdown timer…
-NaughtyProwler.8653
yep, better than it taking up invent space anyway.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
I miss actually being to keep track of whatever the hell it is I’m attacking. The targetting system in GW2 is horrible.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
dear anet
Please add “offensive guild name” as a report option, also under the report menu, add an additional details field so that you can key in the reasons for your report. I saw a guild with a very rude chinese name but I didn’t report because I know the GMs probably won’t understand.
Also please enable “/report playername” in chat because sometimes the other person runs out of the area and you can’t find them. Botters often keep moving (sometimes teleporting about) so it’s hard to manually target and rightclick on their picture.
thanks

oh jesus, i remember those JQ bots, they were like kittening roaches. I reported so many of them, but they just kept coming faster than i could report them…never expected it to be just as bad in GW2.. i sincerely hope anet intends to bring the banhammer down hard before this spirals out of control. BS like speedhack and teleportation hack was impossible in GW1, I was shocked to see them in GW2..
-NaughtyProwler.8653
Am I asocial? I don’t know..It’s just that my playstyle involves doing one thing, then suddenly dropping everything and running off to do something else, wherever my mood takes me. I don’t think party members would appreciate me suddenly leaving the scene to warp off to god knows where, thats why I usually decline random party invites.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
Favourite playable: Sylvari. everything about them is just gorgeous, their appearances, their home environments, their childish enthusiasm and naivete.. yes. i do spend a disproportionate amount of time admiring the sylvari npcs. bite me. i just havent gotten round to making one yet because I cant decide on a name or class.
least favourite playable: the norn with their swaggering machismo… acting tough gets old fast.
favourite unplayable: quaggan, hylek, skritt… i’d befriend all the races if it was possible, too bad you can only chose to help one.
least favourite unplayable: largos.. just kittening creep me out, plus they remind me too much of DnD Drow.. no thanks.

I’m standing outside United Arcanist Lab (sea of sorrows) RIGHT NOW and there is a group of about 6-7 bots clustered in the same place. I just got here last night so I have no idea how long they have been there. I’ve seen the teleporting bots too.. 3 in the middle of thundertroll swamp. I’ve also noticed that many of the bots seem to have chinese user or account names, gold farmers possibly? (not to be racist, but it’s true.)
update: ok the bots outside the lab (near splintered coast wp) just seem to be getting more. 6-7 was a very conservative estimate, now i realized that some of the players running to and fro farming the 2 events are prolly botting. its so bad i dont even know whos a bot and who isnt anymore..

honestly i find myself having to use earth attune and putting a bunch of points into water just to solo in pve. doesnt help that our aoes have a bad tendency to aggro unwanted mobs either..
-NaughtyProwler.8653
click to move/interact
ping spamming “im attacking X” in the party chat
drawing crap on the minimap
8 man parties
12 man parties (elite missions)
party search window
being able to chose skills
team camaraderie.. becoming an extremely scarce thing nowadays..
-NaughtyProwler.8653
maybe, but you can’t say “I’m casting ABC on XYZ!!”, instead it shows up as “player X has called target on blabla”. Doesnt seem like you can ping different targets on the fly either. Once you’ve called a target, the target can’t change for a few seconds. correct me if im wrong though, i tried this in a dungeon last night and it didnt seem to work very well.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
I hate ground targetting skills.. I didnt know there was a way to cast aoe on target location; thanks for the headsup. +1 to everything else you said. The controls in this game are very awkward and took me a long time to get used to.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
I dont know about you guys but being a low hp squishy caster, I feel the effects of this “chase you to the death” mode more than most. And it is exceedingly annoying when the mobs chase you over what appears to be an insanely long distance.
Another thing. I suspect that mobs are programmed to fixate on whoever has the lowest hp. In boss fights often I have noticed sometimes that one player becomes “it”, and the boss mob will just continue chasing that one player round and round until either one dies. If you res that player, or if that player respawns at a wp and come back, he will still have aggro. Not sure if this is a bug or just bad AI.

BRING BACK point-click for movement [like in Guild Wars 1]...

Posted by: StormcrowX.9236
I would like to be able to use BOTH keyboard and mouse as movement control, the same way I did in GW. (Yes, its entirely possible to move with mouseclick and key strafe at the same time, they are not mutually exclusive. I played DA and SBA for more hours than anyone in the right mind should.)
Perhaps make the pathfinding limited to a straight line only, so that a reasonable amount of player imput is required, and bots that rely on this will get stuck on obstacles. Otherwise, I see no reason why I can’t just click on the merchant in front of me and have my character run up to it immediately. I too, get tired of constantly mashing keys and holding down W. (i find autorun awkward to use.)
I use qwes as my main movement keys, tried to make it as similar as possible to my GW setup. That said, being unable to free up one hand to control movement and the other to activate skills is not good.. i really do feel the strain after a few hours.
I know this is not high on anet’s priority list but i would really like to see it return as an option.

Keep that WoW kitten as far away from me as possible. It was annoying enough when we had people sitting on top of NPCs with their stupid jotun/golem tonics or whatever.. I dont want to see your huge fatass dolyak taking up pixel space in town. There have never been mounts in GW, they are not part of the lore, so I see no good reason for adding them out of the blue. I’d imagine there would be a gazillion clipping issues as well. No. Better luck asking for spaceships and lazors that go pew pew. Those at least have a statistically higher chance of manifestation.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
I would pay for an appearance change and additional face/hair options. I gladly paid the 9.99 for it in GW. You want my money dont you anet?
-NaughtyProwler.8653
definitely. i want to know what the gold dye looks like before i spend a bloody bomb on it. but hasnt this one been suggested lots of times already?
+1 to filters for different armor classes.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
it would certaintly make alot of mundane crap easier though, like if i wanted to merch junk all i’d have to do is click on the npc and my character would automatically move forward in a straight line. something simple like that would help a lot, specially underwater where you have to keep swimming up and down to get to the various npcs. and when i want to get somewhere fast, its easier to click on the spot rather than to keep holding down W.(i know theres auto run but i find it awkward to use)
Also, i don’ believe mouseclicking is detrimental to strafing, it can even complement it, like i used to do in dragonball arena. but they probably arent gonna bring it back which sucks. no good reason to restrict people with different playstyles imo.

Some vistas are ruining the game for me. Am I alone? Please heed my call.
in Suggestions
Posted by: StormcrowX.9236
lets just say whenever i intend to complete a map i go for the vistas first to get the hard stuff over with. worst memory? falling to my death like a dozen times on that one vista in the shattered coast and having to run all the way back. some of the jumping puzzles in this game are really #$%@. i agree with others, get a friend and do it together, or ask in map chat for help. if not, just avoid it, 100% completion is not an essential part of the game anyway.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
you know you could use both wsad and mouseclicking at the same time right? they’re not mutually exclusive.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
I found that very hard to get used to as well when i first started.. I have no idea why they changed that either, no one has been able to explain it to me.
Imo dont give up on this game. stop for a while, then come back. i did, after a few days. I too nearly quit cause I couldnt get used to the controls.
-NaughtyProwler.8653

Yeah, happens with underwater mobs sometimes. (krait, sharks, branded fish etc)They attack me, as they are about 50% hp, they go invuln, swim away, regen, then come back and attack me again. Don’t see them using any skill or nothing.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
We need the scythe of Dhuum.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
I’d like to know that my reporting is actually doing something though, that hitting that report button is actually sending data to someone at Anet who will review the game log and hand out bans, not a useless perfunctory feature like it was in GW1…
you know i found that the only way to get bots banned in GW (and a response from a real, live staff member) was to file a ticket on the support website..troublesome, but it worked to a certain extent.. i reported dozens of JQ bots. some were banned, some werent. btw i still dont know if ingame report actually does anything at all..
-NaughtyProwler.8653
(edited by StormcrowX.9236)
Yeah, I always wanted to see someone get stomped on by a dragon or batted to death by its tail. All of the dragons I’ve seen have been the same, none of them move from their spawn area and are pretty much just massive slow-moving meatshields. I’ve had better fights from some of the DE champions, esp the ones with 400% faster run speed and 1 hit KOs. Now taking those down actually feel like an accomplishment cause you have to kite like hell.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
I just played this mission again and noticed the exact same thing. During the final battle most of the npcs just stood on the field not attacking. Are those guys bugged or something?
-NaughtyProwler.8653
(edited by StormcrowX.9236)
Okay guys, sometimes when Im using fire attunement I notice these 2 skills triggering randomly in the middle of combat, even though I didnt click on them or hit 3. Regarding burning speed, this is a bit annoying because it causes me to charge straight into the mobs. I don’t know if there’s something I’m not understanding correctly about these skills or if this is a bug.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
it’s not a race/gender specific bug. when i play on my human ele(male) i sometimes randomly hear a female or otherwise inappropriate voice. my female asura also gets this. sometimes random lines trigger when theres nothing going on either.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
nevermind, i got a better image to demonstrate this. its still happening. instead of one rowdy patron you get an army of clones. i have no idea what triggers this.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
Yes, they do exist, lets not stick our proverbial heads in the sand people. I already noticed people botting in the following locations: Steeleye span, northeast entrance of Zintl holy grounds, outside the United Arcanist research lab…(group of ranger bots all with same guild tag that run the same path over and over) pretty sure there are more that I haven’t noticed yet. I report them always. Lets hope they bring out the banscythe before it gets worse… that dhuum thing was good for publicity was it not?
-NaughtyProwler.8653
It IS bad, if you’ve ever tried getting from point A to B on that particular map. I tried getting to the cathedral of radiance because some guy kept spamming for help, only to get delayed by annoying, snaring mobs and a map design that has far too many cliffs and obstacles.
Anyway, why is this bad? Lets see…Event fails because there are too few people, not to mention that when you die, you have a long trek to get back there, if no one else is around to res you→ Waypoint remains contested → Even fewer people want to go there because of how hard it is to get there → Waypoints get stuck perpetually → area remains dead. It’s just overall poor design imo. I never saw so many “contested” wps on any other map, which is why i never said anything about this before.
ps. yeah, i used to FA and JQ alot.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
I do believe that this is a problem. I present to you, 6 contested waypoints all in the same region of Malchor’s Leap. Many of the events in the area were either bugged, or no one was doing them, leaving the waypoints all constantly unusable.
ps. yes, unacceptable because when someone says “XYZ event is up!” or “need help with blabla” I can’t get there! Its pointless. Why would you want to prevent people from getting to DEs that they want to participate in?

After hearing so much about this buggy quest it worked fine for me when I did it bout an hour ago. Trahearne died twice but it didnt bug … so i dunno
ps. i ressed the first researcher but nothing happened, so i dont think thats the cause.

Just so you know, theres a bug in mount maelstrom where certain NPCs (wyld hunt, vigil crusaders etc) appear as white instead of green, and can be damaged by your attacks. Pretty sure I wasn’t supposed to be able to kill them anyway. Also noticed some normally red mobs like the undead thralls showing up as yellow.
during the event “defend Quandry Scratch”, the skritt defenders were all white then after a while they suddenly changed to green

I was just playing through the “Retribution” instance of the personal story, and one thing that struck me as particularly immersion breaking was how bad the NPC AI in this game is. During the big battle inside the courtyard. You’re supposed to be in the middle of an epic war, fighting for your lives and everything you hold dear right? …
But what I saw was NPCs just standing around doing jack-all most of the time. I noticed that once whatever enemy a particular NPC happens to be fighting dies, they don’t seek new targets and continue to just stand still in the same spot. It’s rather jarring, to say the least.
Those guys who followed me around to cap the points were just as bad, cause half the time they just stood there doing absolutely nothing while i was wailing on the zombies by myself; only occasionally did they attack half heartedly.
It was even worse during the fight with the plaguebringer dragon, most of order npcs just either lay on the ground dead, or stood around doing virtually nothing. One npc stood next to me, ran up and fired and few shots, then ran back to me and just stood there for the rest of the fight. It was so silly. And of course, the dragon itself just stood there.. doing little short of soaking up my rifle shots.. he hardly did any damage to bother kiting. If anet was trying to make something epic they pretty much failed here… even the Nightfall finale was better, even Abaddon put up a better fight than the weak GW2 bosses that do paltry damage… I got promptly disconnected in the middle of that fight, so I dont know what happens after that. but anyway… it was generally all very disappointing.
TLDR: NPCs dont seek targets, they hardly attack, they just stand around once theres nothing within their aggro range. they are dumbkitten bots with AI worse than master togo…
-NaughtyProwler.8653
(edited by StormcrowX.9236)
This is the exact same crap I’ve noticed in lower level “battle” instances as well. Weak boss, NPCs just standing around on the battlefield twiddling their thumbs. Very immersion breaking imo.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
Yeah, noticed a few people botting in blazeridge steppes the past few days (tarnished coast) I heard a couple of guys got banned for it, but theres still one, this rifle warrior thats always hanging around steeleye. I and possibly other people have been reporting her but she is still there.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
He definitely got it mixed up with another game. There is no “better” armor or “recipes for skills” in guild wars.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
I noticed that branded fish will occasionally swim away from me once they have their hp down to about half, become invuln for a period of time, and then return to attack me. Not sure if its the same thing as what you mentioned, but the fact that some mobs can become invuln is annoying in itself. It’s not even a skill, they are not blocking you, they’re just immune to damage for no apparent reason.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
(edited by StormcrowX.9236)
It’s annoying when i hit F to loot and instead it activates some npc dialog or something, so yes, autoloot by all means. perhaps if it activates within a small radius only, so you actually have to walk up to it to pick stuff up.
-NaughtyProwler.8653
4) add a cancel-action key. please.
Esc or the “stow / draw weapons” keybind
Tried that, it doesnt seem too effective, the response time seems to be quite slow. I haven’t been able to cancel mid-cast yet.
