I would use it because seeing the animation moves of Asurans is very difficult. Those giant backpacks also make it hard to distinguish certain moves and some of the outfits players can wear can obscure their entire class unless they are selected.
Anyone who is engaging the enemy and wants to level the playing field a bit would probably like this feature. It is certainly possible.

Every color 300g.
Really?
REALLY?
How can one screw up something so simple as colored commander tags?
I feel so confirmed that I quit this developer’s product a couple months ago.
They didn’t screw it up… gem sales will probably go up with this change. They can even have limited time color choices available as time goes on.

well to be honest, my experience with GS on the warrior is – great for single target. rubbish for multi target (cleave).
GS with the proper trait adds might for each critical hit. I can get 20 stacks of might in 1v1 and 25 with 2+ enemies without needing party buffs. GS also comes pre-equipped with two speed burst skills one of which deals damage while evading and the other is a long range run. Then we have HB which is highly situational but devastating since it builds adrenal, might (given the right build) and when fully channeled is one of the hardest hitting attacks in the game. It even comes with a ranged cripple for running people down and is brilliant with Mobile Strikes. The weapon screams utility but isn’t as group friendly as the warhorn.
The only thing that sucks about GS currently is Arcing Slice. When paired with a hammer it lacks a non-channeled alpha strike. After the patch a warrior should be able to clock some players for near 8k when they drop below 50% and they won’t be able to teleport, stun break their way away from it. They will also be able to proc Cleansing Ire while on the GS which is something rarely worth it before.
The damage nerfs to this weapon are slight and hardly noticeable. The upgrade to Arcing Slice will make being near a GS warrior when hurt dangerous.
As for the Axe offhand, it is near worthless in WvW in its current state (remember it is 50% stronger in sPvP). The main hand attack deals about 10 attacks in the same time frame as Axe5 and the total DPS is higher.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
I also thought low settings didn’t change the character model. I thought Char still looked like Char even though they were a “standard” Char.

Because not knowing how long a commander has been in WvW playing is more exciting.

There is nothing wrong with bolstering the WvW population of a server via paid transfers.
All a server offering to pay for transfers means to me is that they are serious about WvW and want to move up to larger competition. Even better is that it mixes up the otherwise stale competition.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Is it wrong that I would love to have this feature in WvW?
Our solution is what we’re calling “Standard Enemy Models.” It consists of a human model, a weapon set, and a set of armor per profession and gender. We put together looks that we feel preserve the feeling of each profession and are visually distinct from other professions.
So what does all of this mean for you? It’s pretty simple. There’s now a setting in the General Options tab of your F11 menu. If you enable the Standard Enemy Models and enter a game type that supports them, all of your opponents will be represented by these models based on their gender and profession. This set will only replace enemy models; your teammates will not be affected. As this functionality is intended for high-end, skilled players at the top tier of PvP, this option will work only in Team Arenas and Custom Arenas that allow Tournament Commands.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
I dun think gs will ever be a good option for zerging other then taggin with gs3, however if you want to tag, axe5 is better at it.
Hammer and healshout + defy pain is probably the most forgiving setup you can run. If you need more defense, run sword + shield for shield stance block.
Arcing Slice is about to become an AoE that does 2/3 the damage of the one of the hardest hitting attacks in the game. While it won’t replace ?/WH for shout builds it is a great weapon for DPS zerg warrior builds. Those two extra targets are going to be even better for might generating builds. Outside of zergs GS warriors are going to have a near Evis spike damager which is great for roaming and skirmish.
Currently off hand axe is useless. The attacks deal less damage than the mainhand axe base attack. Even post patch it will barely be comparable to main hand axe damage. Currently there is no reason to use the axe in the offhand especially when the warhorn is an incredibly good option.

YH create warrior and cry in few weeks that it is gona be nerfed
no more hammerstuns , no more one shooting zerkers in full PVT . Warriors tears are gona cover entire Tyria . Create guard always usefull .
Warriors have been missing a big hitter that wasn’t channeled and we are about to get one. The nerfs are minor and more of an inconvenience.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Just for some clarification, warriors are easily made that have completely passive healing, passive condition removal and can spam control skills simply by attacking. All you need to do is point them in the right direction and attack. When you get knocked down, use a utility skill. When you are very low on health, use a utility skill.
Later on you can refine the warrior builds but out of the box it requires the most minimal skill to be tough, controlling and effective. Mastering the warrior is also fairly easy. Becoming good in duels against seasoned players is difficult which IMO is the only warrior blind spot.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Nope… you are in good amount of company.

Everyone is so dramatic. Please consider another perspective than, “Anet h8 us dey ony kare abt da monies.”
Bugs are not easy things to fix in general. Some bugs are even harder to fix than others. For example, if a gem store item isn’t selling properly, it will take some time for them to fix the coding on that particular item in the gem store. Once the error in the coding has been identified, it can be resolved.
As a long time developer (25 years now) I agree with the sentiment but many of the WvW bugs have endured since release. Bugs don’t sit around that long when a product is being actively developed unless the developer simply doesn’t want to fix them or is incompetent. I don’t think ANet devs are incompetent.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Do that and please showcase the results it would be awesome
I ran it yesterday on our dual 10 core processor system and it ran about as fast as it does on my Haswell laptop. Both those systems have integrated graphics but GW2 performance seems to apex quickly on modern hardware. The crappy FPS and lag in WvW seems to be a limit of the game not the hardware.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Over time it has gotten better. Early on there was only the hammer train. Then came the outside staff ele to the mix followed shortly by the necro boon striping. Now GWEN dominates and the hammer train is only part of optimized large group fights. Hammer Train v GWEN… GWEN will win almost every time.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Don’t get target locked early on. If you get wiped continually, people will stop following you and it is hard to rebuild reputation if you do this early on.
Safely PvDoor early on. Later when players trust you a bit more, do some open field fights. If you lose go right back to PvDoor for a bit.
No protracted sieging. Players get bored so you want to keep the action brisk. Once you are established you can take harder objectives that require trebs and the like. Early on just move on once a structure is actively defended and will take a while to crack.
Oh and for F sake learn how and where to place siege. Watching a commander drop rams on Klovan when the keep mortar is firing or attacking an AC ridden tower without dropping counter ACs is just painful to watch.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
+1 to the warrior… stupid simple to play and relatively low bar to master.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Best stacks now come from players… 5 kills = 25 stacks. Monsters = 1 kill 1 stack.
This. If you need monsters, mosquitos by the EB green keep are good because they bunch up and their drops are decently valuable craft materials.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Wvw is about scouting, siege refreshing and comunication. Usualy it’s done by few player who sacrifice their time and fun so much more others plalyers(zerg) can think are winning the week match pvding.
Once I hit gold, I started sieging, scouting and refreshing. While it isn’t directly rewarding, I find it to be passively engaging. It is sort of like playing Solitaire.
It is pretty thrilling when one person can thwart an almost certain loss. Course there is a lot of running between towers with no action for those moments.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Our Overlook outside gate was at 10% from someone under the map damaging it. So many bugs have gone unfixed in WvW. I really hope they have a big WvW surprise patch in the wings but at this point will anyone be left to care?
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
God kitten man, your rig is amazing I feel so bad for you, this is what makes me so sceptical to buying new stuff to my computer just for GW2. It makes me extremely uneasy…
The plus side is a play a lot more games than just GW2. GW2 also runs with all the highest settings in PvE. Unfortunately I don’t play PvE.
The sad part is my laptop (i7 Haswell, 32GB RAM, SSD but with integrated graphics) runs it just as well at a slightly lower res.
Seems the game is mostly CPU bound but there seems to be a CPU core wall. I am curious to see how fast it runs on a Dual Core OC’d. I would not be surprised if it ran much better.
We have a workstation we are building in the office that has 128GB RAM, 2 Xeon 10 core processors and an SSD array. The graphics card is crap though. I will load it up tomorrow and see what it can do in WvW.

I don’t think it is Mags fault that SoS and to some extent FA runs PvDoor squads in off hours to jack up the score and reset the WPs. We more than hold our own during most of NA prime.
From this side of the fence SoS is the T2 oddball.

You would think so at some point, but system memory bandwidth isn’t really that important for gaming. In fact DDR3-1600 is still more than adequate. The companies that sell components marketed at gamers / enthusiast would have you think otherwise though.
Overclocking memory can have a noticeable improvement in overall performance for memory heavy programs. Moving from 1600 to a 2100 range can yield a 5% or higher overall performance bump depending on the processes running. It is possible that no significant gain at all will be achieved for some processes however and to some extent we are splitting hairs. However an extra 5 FPS out of a game is very possible with only faster RAM.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Yep. Everything is settled in and even with the randomizer it doesn’t change much.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
T1 is probably the best choice. The T2 competition dies off around midnight EST (about the time you are logging in). There are still trains running on SoS and sometimes FA but the action dwindles for all styles of fighting. At 1AM EST Maguuma is running out manned on pretty much every map with some exceptions. I would guess the population to be less than 25 towards the end of your play time. Seeing orange swords is unusual that late as well.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Mistake no. I don’t think it is optimal but it does have one HUGE thing going for it. Not many players run a similar build so enemies won’t know your timing. You will catch a lot of players off guard with a build like this. More optimal builds might tear you apart once they get used to style you are fighting though.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Roll a Warrior. They do everything good to great (roam, skirmish, zerg). Their only knock is they can be a bit boring to play after a while . However, I still love to play mine.
The upcoming warrior changes will have a minor nerfing effect but a possible significant upgrade to the greatsword.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Time of stay/age of player does not determine who is and is not a good commander. On every server I have played on, a good commander will have a bunch of people following and bad one will run with few or none. The system as it is works well enough for sorting good/bad commanders. More tag options would be appreciated though.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Anyone else find it odd that the keep/tower archers have no problem hitting from the top of a wall but players (particularly rangers) are screwed?
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
The populations are way down but roaming and skirmish are still strong at least in T2.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Golem rush, problem solved, you’re welcome.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
T2 is full of pickup fights. I routinely fight in 1v1, 5v5, etc size fights. I cannot imagine going below T2 for skirmish fights now. I could spend hours flipping camps in T4 outside of NA prime and not see a soul.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
I roam A LOT and can say with certainty that the greatsword is by far the best roaming tool in the warrior toolbox. Get it and love it. Second to that is Endure Pain and either Balanced Stance or Dolyak Signet (maybe both). That combination of skills makes a warrior VERY hard to kill. It is also an easy jump to a might generating build which is what I run.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
If you want payback, as said above roll a condi-bunker necro. Thieves will effectively ignore you. Necro is one of those classes that does real well with patience and isn’t as much of a twitch based class. The condi-bunker is almost like auto pilot much of the fight.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
One of the recent patches has really slowed the game on my system. I finally killed every graphical option and I am running OK most of the time. This bothers me mainly because my rig is in the upper high end (i7 Haswell OC’d, Fast 16GB Memory, SSD and a GTX770 also OC’d). Contrast that to nearly 100 FPS in Farcry 3 at 1080P and a 13k 3DMark.
I cannot get the game to use much over 50 percent CPU even though it clearly needs more. I suspect some kitten poor multi-threading in the client. Oh and my CPUs are not parked.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
At this point even an ANet F-U post to the WvW player base would be nice.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Additionally, in my opinion a good d/d ele is the hardest match-up in a 1v1 duel. Followed closely by a condition engie with APT.
Warrior has less options, thus you have to make sure to land your best hits. This is what makes warrior very hard to play successfully in high level duels.
Anything that kites is a PIA for a warrior. Skilled mesmers, P/D and evasion thieves, D/D eles (that are very good), etc are all a tough fight when facing off against equally skilled or better players. They know all the warrior moves and have every advantage… most of the time you will swinging at air while slowly getting whittled down.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
My preference is a Hammer and Axe/Wh shout build with PVT gear in zergs. It is one of the most hardened builds in the game and can dish out a decent amount of DPS and lots of control for a primarily support build.
Skirmish (small group fights) I go with half zerk/half PVT using GS and Hammer. My skirmish build centers around might generation and control with a steady stream of DPS.
Dueling I usually go with GS and Axe/Shield and skirmish gear setup. It is sort of oddball but it is easy setting up the Bash/Eviscerate combo. Tons of escape and counter play ability as well.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Bolt is the obvious choice but of course ridiculously expensive.
The other two mentioned above are nice looking. You may also consider Corrupted, Fractal and I cannot believe I am saying this but the Zodiac sword.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
100B is very powerful when coupled with the hammer stuns. 5% is significant but not skill breaking. 100B is also an amazing might generating skill for might builds good to see that part will remain untouched.
Whirlwind is a meh change. I use it for mobility mostly.
Arcing Slice could be a FTW skill on some builds. Warriors have a nice consistent DPS but not a lot of spike (outside of Axe and Rifle). Adding a big instant spike damager nearly on par with HB will make non-bunker targets far easier to take down. HB was potent but easily countered by stun breaks and teleports. This will not be easily countered.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
They just took a giant dump on my build… ouch. I was sort of excited about the Adrenal change since a weakness in my build is being constantly blinded. However if I lose adrenal and fail to trigger Ire that is a considerable nerf.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
I run D/D and the easiest camp solo I have found is to switch my elite to DS and my heal to SoM. While in DS the thief is effectively unkillable in a grouped up camp. When the spin ends usually both scouts are dead, the warriors almost dead and the supervisor is at half. I can usually finish off a regular camp in under 20s with this trick.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
I think the question still stands… do ANY of the top ranked GvG guilds run with a Ranger in either orgranized or open field play? If so, what is the spec?
I would like to actually hear from someone who CURRENTLY plays in a top rated GvG guild to answer these questions. My guess is we are about to here a lot of crickets because IMO the Ranger class is as effective as a fart in a stiff breeze.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
This couldn’t be easier actually. Log out, roll a warrior, grab a hammer.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Anyone notice that Veloka is missing archers on the walls and instead has warriors… strange bug.
It has been a ridiculously long time since I was Red. I already missed the fact that Red Keep’s water gate has no built in siege (cannons, mortars, oil) which seems like a bug and now caught Veloka missing archers.

Quality of life changes are so low on their priority it is difficult to imagine this change ever coming.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
1-3 people is not a match for a necro, down the weakeset and use him as bait, and actually if you want to be VERY mobile it is totally possible for a necro, ive seen necros run circles around 5-10 people. I run from 3-5 and in the process 1-2 go down from all my marks i turn around and fight the whole group.
2+ scrubs maybe. 2 skilled players will wreck any necro even the best ones. I actually have zero fear from a necro alone. They are just too slow and easily kited. Now a necro in a skirmish team can be evil as hell.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
I have an idea…….why not penalize the over stacked winning server instead to try and even things out.
Oh this is rich coming from a guy on FA… wait… I agree with your overall point.
