Well looked everywhere I could think of and couldn’t find anything that looked like those boots among medium armor. I only found 3 shoes that didn’t show the toes through, T3 cultural (definitely not those in your pic) and other two are the gem store ones, aetherblade and magitech.

Sorry I don’t know where they got those boots from. I’d almost guess they are ones that only show up on NPC’s in game or something like that.

No you didn’t miss a tutorial, they kind of just toss you in and just give you a few hints a long the way. There’s a lot of stuff they don’t tell you at all.

And to answer your first question you can do the living story before you’re 80. You get side kicked up to 80 which means you get the basic health and defense stats of a level 80 but your traits and skills stay the same. At 65 you should be able to easily participate in the living story while being side kicked. Enjoy!

Ele is hard to level, a lot of skills to unlock and very squishy, a lot of fun at higher levels though. Ranger is quite fun and pretty easy in open world pvp, less wanted for dungeons, though they can still do alright. Quite good at pvp.
I love mesmer, so much fun to play, but again it does take getting up in some levels to really make good use of the class.
Necro is pretty easy to level and quite fun, but can run into problems with condition stack max in large group events or if there are multiple condition builds in a dungeon.
Personally I find guardian and warrior boring, but they are fairly easy to level up.

Good luck!

My Charr Ranger…. Has T3 chest mixed with a Little bit of Everything… The main reason why I chose this are two. No skirt/robe – charr have cool looking legs!! And this one have no clipping issues…. That leaves me with very few options for really good looking armour…

This looks awesome and I think it just goes to show just how terribly the Charr are hurt by the obsession the armor designers have with skirts and trench coats. The Charr do have awesome legs and awesome figures but they are always hidden behind some skirt or but cape type thing that looks so terrible with tail clipping and the way they have these skirts billow around their legs as a huge tent like thing. Your character looks awesome and it is so sad that the options to make a really nice looking Charr are so limited! Even most of the cultural stuff looks pretty bad.

Yeah, I agree, use drops and karma gear when you can and when you get a piece that’s 10 levels below your current level, upgrade it, most easily from the tp, you can easily get greens without spending much and that’ll get you through all the content.

the hearts on your maps in explorable areas take the place of traditional quest chains. Each heart has a recommended level for it and completing it will give you some experience and some gold. The best way to level up in this game is to explore maps, do the hearts, the dynamic events, points of interest and gather everything. Even if you don’t craft you can sell the materials on the trading post. Good luck and have fun.

I like the medium armor. Y’all be crazy.

I like it alright but it has the same problem as all current medium armor, your armor is your coat and nothing else, it covers everything and there is no opportunity to individualize your character by mixing and matching.

Well someone at Anet in the art department agrees with this and the reason I say this is I noticed some bandits in the CM dungeon that were wearing a light top with medium pants. . . hmm I wonder why? Because light armor has no pants and medium armor has no shirts, just trench coats. And it looked good. Seriously the bandits get to be more fashion forward than PC.

I love my Sylvari Mesmer. I spent a lot of time during the bwe’s in sylvari character creation and figured out just what I liked. She’s now got a mix of cultural armors and a warden staff and I think she looks great. I also love her in the wvw “wizard’s” armor. I also like my Norn Ele, she’s a fierce red head who always looks like she’s about to bite your head off. She wears the whispers light armor to show off her shoulder and calf tattoos.

So you want free travel to LA to save you one loading screen. I don’t think it’s going to happen.

I’ll be honest, with crafting stations, bank, blt, merchants and armor repair all super conviently located in each borderlands, I just hop there if I’m out exploring and fill my space or want to get some new gear, pick up some food from my bank etc. Then I can just log out log back in and I’m right where I left off and can finish the zone I was in or whatever. All without costing me anything.

When I want to tp across the map for something if I have time I’ll do the mists to LA to the nearest home city and go from there. Honestly one loading screen doesn’t make much of a difference to m.

get a pvp salvage kit and salvage them into pvp mats that can be used to craft other pvp skins. Or through them in the bank and put them on various characters if you have alts. Or if you are really not into pvp and don’t want the pvp mats, then you may as well just delete them because they serve no other purpose than to make your character look good in pvp.

Oh well, it is what it is, but I’m not sure why half the professions got it and half didn’t.

SuLor.2840

I agree entirely. Also correct me if I’m wrong but it sounded like the comment that all ascended gear would be account bound that if you craft it you won’t be able to sell it, and if you get a drop you won’t be able to sell it, so if you’re not a crafter you have to rely entirely on rng to hopefully get any ascended gear with the right stats. So everyone who hates crafting is suddenly going to have to craft to get what they want, or hope they are extremely lucky.

I definitely find map completion to be the most efficient way to level. When doing so I do all events I come across, gather every resource (it offers xp) also get some cheap food as any food at all gets you a 10%xp bonus for killing stuff and you can get stuff on the trading post for just 1 copper a piece even for really low level. Once you’re five to ten levels ahead of your personal story you can go through a bunch of story steps for some nice xp there as well. Good luck.

I don’t know about medium, but I think a great alternative for the radiant gloves in light would be instead of putting that glowy stuff on top of heavy plate, why not just create skin tight ball room type gloves made of a glowy/sparkly fabric. That could have been so pretty, but the current look just doesn’t look right with any of my light armor.

A nice way to browse the armor skins and see where you can get them. You might try the conjurer mask, it has a pretty flat profile so it is less likely to clip badly with your bangs. The orr karama mask just covers one eye and I don’t think that one would clip at all and I think it would go with the profane pretty well. Hope that helps.

This just makes me want to go back and play rit in gw1. Sigh. . .
Anyway, there is no real equivalent in gw2, I will say though that the necro and the mesmer are both a lot of fun, I’ve enjoyed them both. With a mesmer using phantasms could be a little bit like playing a rit in that they do some damage and can pull agro and you can make them explode before they die on their own. But really the play style isn’t much like the rit. The necro doesn’t have anything really to compare, but it is quite sturdy and pretty fun. The Ele requires all kinds of tricks to stay alive, the necro has a large health pool and then a second health bar on top of that with death shroud.

Anyway, don’t know how much that helps, but I’d give Mesmer or Necro a try.

There are a couple of sources of gear with soldier stats, but the tp isn’t one of them. For exotic pvt stats you can get them from Karma from the various temples in Orr, they aren’t all at the same one and each set is missing one part, the pants for the light and the helm for the heavy, and I think it’s the pants for the medium as well. You can also get those stats from a couple of explorable dungeons, Ascalonian Catacombs, and Honor of the Waves. You can also get it from WvW badges of honor. Good luck.

I wholeheartedly agree. Most boring instance ever. What is fun about going around and disarming mines? Nothing. When they first said there was going to be a solo instance, I was looking forward to testing my skill against a tough boss on my own. There’s a reason people learn how to solo bosses and champions, it’s fun to push your character and skill to the limit. I was hoping for a fun one on one fight, but no, all I get to do is run around in circles setting off mines. Personally I find it very boring, same with the explorable mode instance, very boring.

Ok what am I doing wrong?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: SuLor.2840

SuLor.2840

So I mostly levelled my ele with dagger dagger constantly swapping attunements. I really liked it but did struggle at early levels, I recall dying a lot.

A suggestion I wanted to make as I have a friend who is currently leveling an ele and is at about lvl 20. She said that her preferred solo weapon set is scepter/focus and finds that using earth attunemnt on that set gives her quite a lot of survivability, and while it might take a little longer to kill things, she lives long enough to kill them.

Best of luck to you, Ele does have a bit if a steeper learning curve though I think a lot of it just has to do with that it’s balanced around having quite a few defensive traits and utility skills that you aren’t going to have really early on. I think if you can make it to 30, you’ll find the ele a lot of fun and not quite so difficult to keep alive, though they are by default the squishiest character in the game with the fewest number of hit points and lowest armor.

which class will benfit most from pvt ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

It is not uncommon for a d/d ele to use some pvt gear.

Personally I think it’s a good way to get started with a d/d ele at 80 since you can get the exotics for karma and help with the learning curve, once you know what you’re doing and have some gold saved up you can get more offensive stats and still do well.

Gem Armor (store bought armor skins)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SuLor.2840

SuLor.2840

These answers are based on my general experience in using skins and playing around with the gem store armor in beta, and what I know from other’s experiences. I didn’t buy any gem store armor skins post beta.

1. It soul binds to the character you are using it with.

2. There is no way to salvage the skin, the only way to use it again is with transmuation stones/crystals.

Sorry, it’s at your worst, it works the same as other skins. I don’t know 100% if there’s any difference between applying it to level 79 or 80, but I’d be surprised if there was.

The previous colors of your armor would have been based on the colors you picked during character creation, or which ever you last dyed your armor, all of which are available to you in your dye collection. The thief’s best builds are definitely melee, and from the sound of it I think you’ll like ranger more. Get traps and trait your traps to be able to use ground targeting so that you can set them at a bit of a distance. I like to throw down the spiked trap, which cripples and bleeds and then the flame trap and auto attack with the short bow to stack up burning. From the play style you say you want, you are more likely to get it from ranger and you can get some decent aoe with traps.

in Players Helping Players

SuLor.2840

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Back_item Will give you an idea of where you get back slot items. Basically there are a couple of personal story rewards and a few drops so you can buy a few off the tp, but the selection is very limited. Once you hit level 80 there are karma vendors in orr that sell exotic back slot items.

If you want a back pack that looks like a basic backpack, the only one I know of you get from making an engineer and choosing it in character creation. As long as you have an open character slot, you can create an engineer, get the back pack, transmute it onto one of the back slot items you can get from the tp, but if what you really want is the super adventure skin, I’d say just get your personal story to level 33, and put the skin on that reward.
