Caledon Forest is really just Alabama
Race: Sylvari
Gender: Male
Profession: Warrior
The glow pattern that shows at night on of the model’s legs gets a bit messed up when wearing the PvP pit fighters set. Unsure if the issue occurs with all ‘skirt’ type armors but with the pit fighters set it does.
Armor
Helmet(Hidden): PvP Heavy Helm
Shoulders: PvP Pit Fighter’s Shoulderguard
Chest: PvP Reinforced Scale Coat
Arms: PvP Pit Fighter’s Wrist Guards
Legs: PvP Pit Fighter’s Skirt
Feet: PvP Reinforced Scale Boots
6/10 Would be higher but the “Nox” in the first name and “Dark” of the last name make it sound redundant
My character is “Trynt”
Mesmer of the Vigil
=/ This is off-topic. OP is talking about the quality of the legendaries, not the grind to get them.
Sorta relevant though.
The effort involved in getting the “crappy” Legendaries is very much the same as the one for the “good” ones.
It simply isn’t fair.
I am still going for the Warhorn though, but it will be bittersweet when I finally get it.
If you don’t like the crappy ones don’t go after the crappy ones -.- If you’re using the warhorn you’re what? A ranger, Necro, or Warrior. All of them have other legendary weapon options that are fitting: frostfang for Necro, Kudzu or Rogdort for Ranger, and Warriors have plenty of options because everything’s designed for them lol. But yeah crappy legendaries shouldn’t require the same grind: if the chicken harp played music and left a trail of music notes then it’d be great. The scepter should leave like cloud footprints and a trail of clouds when swung. I think the rest are pretty cool though I understand that not everyone loves rainbows and unicorns
Yeah I wish Sylvari males had more kitten animations like females. Sylvari females run around like a kid with ADD and it’s adorable “OOOH A BUTTERFLY!” runs like a moron
Bragging rights.
You get to brag when you do something awesome. Not when a random dice roll gives you a prize. Oh I just got doubles in Monopoly I get to go again and I won community chest: Congratulations, you’ve accomplished nothing.
I don’t care what it is but I think only mesmers should get a weapon because at the moment we have the least number of skills (only like 89 I believe and everyone else has 93+) and two of our weapons are almost completely obsolete. Some utilities are awful but all classes have some bad utilities.
Here is the strategy:
Kick party members in the following professions:
-Rangers
-Thieves
-Elementalists
-Mesmers
-Necromancers
-EngineersThen recruit only these professions:
-Guardian
-WarriorsMmmm ignorance is bliss… How does it feel to think that way?
It’s true, how much it seems the devs favor the soldier professions in PvE is despicable. A group of 2 guards and 3 wars or 2 wars and 3 guards that knows what they’re doing will do every single dungeon faster and die less than any other profession combination if they know what they’re doing as well. Soldiers are just made better (I main a mesmer, before you ask)
Happy New Years Mesmers!
Sincerely, ArenaNet
Yep, I’m very happy with the game right now so I wouldn’t mind paying for an expansion.
That’s never going to happen. It’s the polar opposite of Anet and every fan’s vision for the game. It was always advertised as defying the trinity. It will continue to do so. Face it, the trinity is not coming back.
RPing is fine and as far as I know Arenanet allows it I mean they have a /emote command, no non-roleplayers have a use for that. People saying Anet doesn’t are simply putting words in their mouths. If the RP is racy then keep it in private channels not in map chat, public profanity is against the agreement and you can be reported for it. So if they were saying “kitten this, kitten that, kitten me” in map chat then sure I see why they were reported. Some of the posters need to realize that this IS a ROLE PLAYING GAME so ROLE PLAYERS are allowed to ROLE PLAY, huh not that complicated. Leave them be if they’re not interfering with others.
I wear full magic find armor and accessories ALL the time and no one has ever complained. I don’t care if I’m called a leech MF gives you a chance at better loot in a terrible loot system. Others are welcome to wear it I have no problem. Don’t be concerned with what gear someone’s wearing, as long as they aren’t dying every second you don’t get to tell them how to play. Seriously, this is a dumb conversation!
Sylvari mesmer
Sylvari warrior
Human guardian
Human thief
Human elementalist
Norn Ranger
all male
I want to make a charr but I feel like I’d get sick of the running animation and I do not like asura, too small.
Ascended equipment has infusion slots. These slots can be either offensive or defensive slots. The three types of infusions are: offensive, defensive, and omni. You can upgrade ascended equipment with an offensive slot with an offensive infusion. You can upgrade ascended equipment with a defensive slot with a defensive infusion. Omni infusions can be applied to either offensive OR defensive slots. All individual infusions provide +5 agony resistance. Offensive infusions can provide the +5 agony resistance along with +5 condition damage, power, or precision. Defensive infusions can provide the +5 agony resistance along with +5 healing power, vitality, or toughness. Omni infusions can provide +5 agony resistance along with +5 condition damage, power, precision, healing power, vitality, or toughness. Ascended equipment on it’s own provides no agony resistance. But when you infuse the equipment you gain +5 agony resistance. I hope this helps.
We’re really versatile but we have no group healing unless we roll a (lol)mantra build and not a strong ability to grant boons.
I use sword/focus and staff
People don’t use the scepter and torch because those are terrible terrible weapons. Probably the worst in the game. And less people are using greatsword because of it’s recent damage nerf. Focus is good in WvW and PvE because mobility and dat pull and pistol is great. I really like the offhand sword and I use it sometimes but the phantasm is melee which means it won’t last long and the counter skill isn’t as good as magic bullet or temporal curtain. Staff has always been good and it’s a great defensive weapon. People are sticking to these weapons because the other options just aren’t nearly as good. I wouldn’t blame players for using “cookie cutter” builds because the other options just aren’t as good for general gameplay, blame Arenanet for not improving the scepter and torch to something players can use without feeling like they’re gimping themselves.
Class name: Reaver
Class type: Soldier
Weapons: Axes (dual), Scepter (MH), Shield(OH), Staff, dagger (OH)
Theme: Dark knight type character (we already have holy knight, and normal knight, now we need a dark knight for a third soldier class) Can summon temporary specters that are fairly powerful but they have low health. Specializes in inflicting conditions and doing more damage for each condition on the foe.
Healing skill 1: Gain more health based on the number of conditions inflicted on your foe
Healing skill 2: Gain more health based on number of conditions on yourself
Healing skill 3: Channel that absorbs damage for 3 sec and heals for amount of damage inflicted (longer CD)
F1-F4 Specters: Spirits from the beyond that fight alongside the reaver, they are fragile and can only be controlled for a limited time period
-Specter of agony: lasts 10 sec with 20 sec CD, attacks in melee range while inflicting vulnerability
-Specter of flames: lasts 10 sec with 30 sec CD, attacks ranged while inflicting burning and granting might to allies
-Specter of plague: lasts 10 sec with 40 sec CD, releases AoE pulses of conditions every 2 sec while granting boons to allies within radius
-Specter of feast: lasts 10 sec with 45 sec CD, stationary grants aegis and regen to nearby allies and heals conditions
Axe mainhand is about raw damage that increases based on conditions on the foe but cannot inflict many conditions itself, axe offhand inflicts bleeding and vulnerability, dagger offhand inflicts poison, scepter skills focus staying ranged with a skill that allows stripping boons from enemies, staff melee range and releasing auras that drain enemy health, shield allows you to sacrifice some of your health to grant regen and aegis to allies and a coutner skill that releases aura that damages and inflicts fear
First off, don’t call people that don’t like skimpy armor prudes. One could call you a perv for liking said armors. I have no problem with skimpy or conservative armors. But I do have a problem with the “skimpy balance” between males and females. The winged set for for male humanoids is fully covered up and the female version is a bikini with some tattoos, the male masquerade armor is a fully covered suit and the female version is like a burlesque outfit. Medium armors suck for both genders but females get the infamous underboob armor. It’s freaking ridiculous and I thought Anet said that they’d focus on having skimpy AND conservative armor for everyone and they don’t and it’s pretty upsetting.
-Currently heavy armors have many skimpy and non-skimpy options for females but significantly less for males
-Medium armors have no skimpy options for males and only a few for females. All sets are mostly trenhcoats and that sucks
-Light armor females have WAY too many skimpy sets and not enough normal sets, males have way too many covered up sets and a grand total of one skimpy set (feathered)
For the most part they kind of lied about giving people more armor options and instead decided to pander to the straight male playerbase like every other game. The worst part is that they give norn, sylvari, charr, and asura cool body tattoos, glows, and patterns but male norn and sylvari and all charr and asura characters aren’t even able to appreciate it.
(edited by SuperSpicyCurry.2415)
-Fixed a bug where staff clones inflicted conditions
-Null field no longer removes conditions
-Changed feedback to only work if attacking from outside the dome, for balancing purposes
-When mesmer is hit by CC all illusions are killed
Only really funny if they can get the exit in a spot that drops you to your death.
Also good at LA trading post.
Haha, I do this
I got to level 80 when I was crafting something and I was like “Oh, cool level 80” and then I continued crafting. Level maxing isn’t a big deal to me when you can enjoy much of the content without even getting to 80. It would have been nice if one of the legendary weapon components was a token you get by reaching level 80 or something though
Norn tier 2 heavy armor is some of the sexiest in the game. Pick norn, they’re so big and manly! The women too!
Pricing should be: 2 handers> 1handers/dual wield> offhand weapons/aquatic because honestly who would pay full price for an aquatic weapon
Shush before they “fix” it
For some people playing certain classes is difficult and if you find playing the mesmer difficult then don’t play it. I don’t agree that mesmer’s are ineffective however, we’re still one of the most powerful pvp classes. I will agree that warriors are able to do well with minimal brain power, for what ever reason devs love to make warrior/soldier classes stupidly easy compared to every other class.
Okay to the people saying you’re having success with the scepter, great. That doesn’t make it a good weapon. MH sword>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>scepter, with sword you get mobility, power, and defensive abilities (blurred frenzy is waaaay better than scepter #2) Illusionary leap is great and the 1 skill is faster and stronger than scepter 1. The scepter is trying to be some kitten power+condition hybrid and it’s inneffective. The only advantage scepter has over mh sword is range and that hardly matters because it’s auto-attack is so slow. And if you’re saying that scepter is better for shatter builds then that’s just dumb, for illusionary persona with MR to be useful you need to be in melee range and scepeter is ranged. Illusionary counter has the same CD as leap and you have to be hit to generate the clone also you don’t get an immobilize with scepter. You may enjoy playing with trash but the rest of us don’t.
I pretend my illusions are yelling in Arabic when they’re running to shatter… I’m a terrible person…
Yeah it’s pretty bad, ranged weapon but it doesn’t deal enough direct or condition damage. Clone generation is too slow to be useful and the clones themselves are only shatter fodder. Compared to mainhand sword, scepter is complete trash. Confusing images is the only good thing about the weapon but confusion’s only useful in pvp. Replace it with mainhand pistol I say.
Now that phantasms are balanced, let’s suggest equal changes to balance other mesmer abilities:
1. Damaging the clones (including shattering) hurts the mesmer.
2. Portal has the same range as blink and also can’t cross walls or gaps like blink.
3. Time warp requires the mesmer to enter an inactive meditation state for the duration. Recharge increased by 30 seconds and duration reduced by 5 seconds.
4. Moa morph affects both the target and the mesmer.
5. Blurred frenzy applies 20 seconds of bleeding on the mesmer. Damage reduced 30%. Recharging increased by 20 seconds.
6. Temporal Curtain pull range is reduced to 300. Pull cannot pull people off ledges.
7. Since iWarden could still be OP, if a target stands in iWarden for more than 1 second, that target is now healed instead of damaged.
8. Magic bullet can now hit allies.
9. Confusion now only works for a targets #5 skill.
10. Mesmer armor is now capped at 1000; health at 15000.
11. Chaos storm should have an hour long cooldown.
12. Chaos armor should now inflict boons on the enemy and conditions on the mesmer.
13.Winds of Chaos should no longer bounce.
14.Also mesmers should no longer be able to use sword or greatsword, we can’t be allowed to do damage ya know that’d be OP.
15. Scepter and torch working as intended :P
This is possibly the worst suggestion anyone has ever made about anything. By making the game free Anet doesn’t benefit so why would they do it. If you think 60 dollars is too much for an MMO with over 100s of hours of content then consider that 6 hour games with repetitive gameplay often routinely sell for the same price. Seriously though why do you want the game to be free, do you not want Anet to make money.
Get the twilight arbor set http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/4/49/Sylvari-NightmareSet-Heavy.jpg
A bunch of you keep listing skills, that’s not what the OP is asking.
OT: Illusionary Persona, that one second of diversion or a supprise daze is always nice
Unfortunately it’s a trash weapon so no good builds are using it. Especially in PvE. Traits for it are all over the place, the phant is terrible. The prestige is good but the other offhands outclass it quite a bit.
Is the glitch with warriors staying alive after using Vengeance still an issue? Because that was annoying.
Edit: Nvm didn’t know they had a trait for rallying when they get a kill using vengeance
I edited it. The clone is a pulsing AoE and the autoattack chain ends with a conal AoE. We’re a duelist class so it’s very unlikely that we’ll get an incredibly AoE focused weapon.
I think it’s weird that we can have dual swords but not dual pistols. Here’s my idea
Skill 1:Phase shot>Phase lock>Phase burst: First is basic damage, second cripples, third shoots three projectiles in a cone with each one inflicting 1 stack of vulnerability.
Skill 2: Fatiguing facade- Jump behind your target leaving a clone behind that releases 2 pulses, first pulse inflicts 3 stacks of vulnerability and second pulse inflicts 6 seconds of weakness. There’s a short delay between pulses
Skill 3: The Gauntlet- Fire a bullet that hits a foe 8 times (slightly weaker, ranged version of blurred frenzy)
The primary focus of this is to get stacks of vulnerability and weakness and then wail on them with your phantasms. I tried giving it a little AoE with a pulsing clone and a conal auto attack while still making it feel like a dueling class

I wish they’d make our scepter clones apply confusion
Sylvaris look off to the side...while other races look forward
in Sylvari
Posted by: SuperSpicyCurry.2415
Golgathoth is correct. Sylvari (males at least, idk about females) angle their bodies but keep their heads forward when they are facing forwards. You can check this on the character select screen if you have multiple toons, rotate a non-sylvari character (it rotates all of your characters) and then click on the Sylvari and you’ll see that he’s looking forward but has his body facing diagonally.
I’m mostly fine with what they have now but it seems human and norn female got the most hairstyles, faces, and body types. I wish they gave every other character the same number of options. There’s always room for improvement.
Doesn’t matter, I know I look fabulous when I dance waiting for the rest of my party in dungeons decked out in hot pink robes
You know how many plants have glossy surfaces? Yeah Sylvari are plants so they look glossy and many hairstyles are based off of glossy plants.
The three different armor types are really irrelevant to stats in this game, it’s all about traits. However appearance, which is arguably the drawing factors of armor in GW2, is the primary difference between the three armor types. Heavies get a wide range of armors from chainmail bikinis, gladiator outfits, fully covered suit of armor looks and Mediums get a great deal of buttcapes… While clothies get frilly pajamas (except for females who get very elaborate costumes *see winged crafted armor). I feel that heavy armor got a lot of attention while cloth armor only had design effort put into the females outfits and medium armor wearers just got completely shafted.
So in PvE it seems that my phantasms have lower health than my clones. I thought that phantasms didn’t have your appearance but were more powerful and had more health than clones. Clones actually are able to take more hits than my phantasms, I think that may be bug. I can’t speak for PvP because people tend to ignore clones entirely so I’m unsure of whether or not they have more/less health than my phantasms. Thanks and I’d appreciate any response to this issue
I understood that the trailer was about GW2 breaking the mold of MMOs and that it is our time as players to get to play something new and fresh but the trailer was still VERY ‘meh’ it was clever but still underwhelming. You couldn’t even tell the trailer was about gw2 until the very end. Though I suppose most of the game’s marketing came from word of mouth and the trailer wasn’t really necessary anyways.
Too many people think Mesmers are OP, they are not and you must learn how to fight them. Here’s some tips:
-Learn the animations, you can dodge Moa.
-If phantasms are doing too much damage then kill them.
-Downed state’s fine, practice fighting against mesmers. Here’s a hint: Nine times out of ten the first downed mesmer you see isn’t the real mesmer! Shocker!
-If you’re inflicted with confusion don’t keep spamming skills like an idiot
-Don’t shoot in a feedback bubble
I’m a mesmer and usually people inexperienced with fighting mesmer’s will get destroyed so if you learn how to fight us then you should be able to hold your own, stop crying for mesmer nerfs guysToo many people think Elementalists are OK, they are not and you must learn how to fight them. Here’s some tips:
-Learn the animations, no need to dodge anything, doesnt hurt.
-If Elementals are doing too much damage then kill elementalist.
-Downed state’s fine, just finish him/herI’m a elementalist and usually people inexperienced with fighting elementalist’s wont get destroyed so if you keep going then you should be able to hold your own, stop crying for ele changes guys
What is the purpose of this post exactly? I know the Elementalist is UP as I’m sure everyone else does. What bearing does that have on a QQ thread about the Mesmer being “OP”? Way to stay on topic.
The notion that females don’t have enough revealing armor options is ridiculous, the males have no where near the amount of revealing options. Currently females have some conservative and some revealing options. Males have almost all conservative options (excluding Norn racial armor because that’s pretty equal on skimpiness) with very few revealing choices as a matter of fact the only revealing male armors I can think of would be the pit fighter and that tribal looking armor. If you’re going to have some skimpy and conservative females do the same for males, if you’re going to go all conservative with females do the same with males, if you’re going to do all skimpy armor for females do the same with females. I believe in Male and Female armor equality!
Change female heavy Arah armor back to its beta model

Seriously!? You’re complaining about a weird claw boob thing? If you want digitalkitten so bad play a med armor human female and get the underboob armor. I’m sick of people complaining about there being too few revealing female armors. There are plenty while the males have significantly less options.
I wouldn’t say all classes but Ele are OP, they are balanced I think but the Ele is drastically UP
Fighting a Necro is like using a physical fighting move against Blissey.
This is my favorite analogy ever.
