If you run 3d mark vantage, if your system is unstable, it should hardlock on you as well. I would give that a try.
One more.. butt if you have SATA drives already, you just need to replace your motherboard, cpu and ram and keep everything else.
So basically you would need to build a whole new PC most likely. You could probably keep your case and power supply, but you might as well get those new as well since you are getting everything else.
It depends on what intel chip you want to get. If you get an i5-3570k http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504 you’ll want an LGA 1155 socket motherboard and accompanying ram. Also if you have harddrives and a cd drive that are IDE (thin really wide cables) than you will need SATA drices to replace them. Since all the newer motherboards use SATA now.
so its best if i trash my phenom and get an intel?
Yea. There’s quite a few people that have Amd cpus that are waiting for GW2 to be “optimized” for them. Unfortunately those people shouldn’t hold their breath. Amd processors get good fps in a lot of other types of games but get slaughtered in this game.
You most likely will have to build yourself an intel system. Keep the 7970 though. Its a great video card.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/guild-wars-2-performance-benchmark,3268-7.html
Here’s the toms hardware article showing fps amount with different cpus. You can see the difference between amd cpus and intel cpus.
Ya this game is very cpu heavy. Those are actually good frame rates for having and Amd cpu.
Also do you have the newesr drivers and Catalyst application profiles?
What settings do you use?
How come GW2 is the only game that overheats my GPUs… By overheat, i mean they hover over 85-92°C which from time to time go even higher crashing my computer.
Battlefield 3 doesn’t overheat them. Borderlands w/ High PhysX doesn’t overheat them. Planetside 2 doesn’t overheat them either.
Running 2x GTX 560Tis @ 925Mhz Core / 2100Mhz Mem / 1GB / 384Cores with a 2560×1440 monitor @ 100hz.
(I know there was another GPU overheating thread, but search isn’t working).
It could be that since GW2 does tax your cpu more so than any of those other games, that the air temperature in your case is rising a lot more and the graphics cards are sucking in all that hot air and running hotter. But ya you should try running a custom.fan profile.
What’s DirectX 11?
Oh you mean that thing companies told us to go out and buy and spend money on, only to then later get Tessellation Water thrown in our faces in some games?
Ya, the day GW2 gets REALL tessellation will be the day I give away 15 GTX 690’s (and I don’t mean Tessellation water, because that seems to be the only thing developers know how to toy with)
It still would be amazing to get real tessellation. Would make gw2 look even more amazing. And just in case they do ever introduce it to gw2, I wouldn’t mind if you sent two of those gtx 690s my way
You could play it with Wine. But typically games played with Wine in linux get half the fps they do in windows, because of the directx calls having to be converted to opengl calls. And based on the size of the Low Fps thread, I think its safe to say that not too many people have rigs beast enough to get even 30 fps in linux.
I think we can agree that any improvements that can be made to the game to improve fps even by a small margin is worth it. If that is switching to DX11 from DX9 then do it. If it was 3 to 5 fps, then lets do it. Those of us that get good fps might not care. Those players that get 15-20 fps on older hardware im positive would accept another 5 fps if theres anything Anet can do to get it.
Very jealous of that set up Swordbreaker :P. It seems I need to do a waaay better job on my cable management. I’m almost afraid to upload a pic of the inside of my tower, but I’m going to do it anyways just to show what it looks like.
http://tinypic.com/r/2dqvtf/6 ….very messy T_T
heart attack
Except the i5-2500ks and i5-3570ks at 5 ghz still dont match the SB-E 2011 sockets at 4 ghz

Just my opinion but I would keep the antec 300 case and put the extra 100 dollars towards your 250 dollar gpu budget for a more powerful graphics card. A gtx660ti will be the most bang for your buck at the price range you are looking at, at 299 dollars. So that way you’d actually save 50 bucks.
If you aren’t worried about money, get a 3930k , the asus p9x79 deluxe or pro, (the basic model doesn’t have a usb 3.0 internal plug for your case. Get either two 7970s or a gtx690.. or powercolor has released the devil 13 (7990) I believe or it will be out soon.
I would get a corsair h100 to cool it, for no hassle water cooling. and at least a 850 watt power supply, although I went way over and got a 1200 watt power supply (corsair power supplies are awesome). I got 32 gb of ram but sometimes that much ram can complicate overclocking, so id go with 8 or 16 gb of quad channel ram. I rarely dip below 60 fps anywhere except WvW I can go dowm to 35fps in huge zergs but still very playable. Just make sure your case can fit an h100 but any good gaming case should.
Oh and of course the opposite… So if the asura necromancer used the death shroud, it would start the battle suits cool down.
The easiest way around a asura necromancer using the battlesuit as a third health bar is just to activate the death shroud into cool down if the battle suit is used. So they have a choice between using the battlesuit for someone else or death shroud for themselves.
@Dixa you’re right. I used the find feature and found where they added support for sli in guild wars 2 but that was in release 304. Silly me. Then there are no improvements for gw2 in this release?
Was reading the release notes. Looks like they finally added Guild Wars 2 Sli profile. Maybe this driver will help a bunch of people that have multiple nvidia cards now.
Im going to go dentistry school and pull some teeth, then Im going to find a brick wall and smash my head into it repeatedly – just for fun.

“2 – This is actually in the game, but broken”
control+shift+H is broken? :/
WvW is very cpu heavy. More so than any other part of the game. People with MUCH newer computers gets as low as 10 fps in WvW.
mmm…
Minimum requirements: 2ghz …
My CPU: 2.9ghz ….
like 0.9 more ghz of cpu, an averange usage of 60% (controlled with task menager), low settings… mmm, no this is impossible.
so?
You could overclock your cpu to 3.5ghz and it wouldn’t do much. Your cpu is still rather old and newer cpus have newer architecture and many more cores to handle gw2.
yes ok … it’s true… but… if you read, i HAVE more than minimum requirements!
So:
minimum requirements= you can run the game
more than minimum requirements= you can run the game good (not very good, but good)
more than minimum requiremets + low settings = you can run the game VERY good!so?
This is simply not the case. Low settings in this game really only effect the gpu not the cpu. If you have a low end cpu, reducing the settings to low will not gain much of a noticable difference if your cpu is underpowered.
The minimum reqs for the game do not mean that if you meet them, you will get good fps. It simply means you can physically run the game. You have an old PC and will need to buy a new PC to get any real results.
Monthly glitch. Further insight into the sex of Guild Wars 2.
@Count Zero. Arenanet has stated that any external piece of hardware that gives any player an unfair advantage is not allowed. To have a gaming mouse and keyboard is wonderful. You have extra buttons at your disposal and thats perfectly legal. However not everybody has a special gaming mouse or keyvoard that allows them to all macro abilities to a single button. Using these macros in other games may be acceptable but ArenaNet has very clearly stated anything that gives a player an unfair advantage is not acceptable.
@naviiso If he is not simply binding a button on his mouse but using custom software to bimd a custom macro to his mouse outside of using what the game gives you, then yes that is a banable offense.
Ah yes, Lying, the best way to avoid drama /s
If you use a macro with your mouse, then that, in my mind, would be an advantage that not everybody has and therefore be a banable offense. If its done in the game, by enabling auto attack then it would be allowed.
When you say voltages and temps are good, could you elaborate more about the specifics of what voltages and temps you are getting?
It may be worth it to upgrade to an i5 3xxx for WvW. You wont need a k model unless you want to overclock though. The k meaning the cpus multipliers are unlocked.
Something that hasn’t been said either is Quad-SLI is more for benchmarks and E-PEN than anything else. Most games arent optimized for 4 gpus as well as sometimes quad-sli can cause more problems than it solves.
I have one, very serious question.
I have:
Phenom X6 II 1090T @ 3.8 Ghz
16 GB Ram
2 x Radeon 6870 in Crossfire
Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD Mainboard, 750W PSUI bought my rig two years ago. At the time it was the top of the line AMD CPU.
How the KITTEN is that a bottleneck ?
Why the KITTEN is that CPU giving me 10-15 frames per second on sieges at LOWEST possible settings ?
Surely, there is nothing wrong with optimization right ?
Right ?
Top of the line AMD cpu is still not that great for this game. They just dont do as well as intel processors.

I don’t think your issue is an AMD problem. I have no issues.

Not exactly sure what your point is… The invisible players in WvW has nothing to do with fps and is it’s own issue. I never said the game didnt have bugs, I said people are running dualcore cpus and Amd processors and expect good frame rates, which is evident if you take the time to read the fps merged section you posted.

It is not your computer. Browse the forums look at threads.
Game is terribly optimized. Everybody is going thru hell and high water to try to fix/overclock buy new video cards for there comps.
IT IS NOT YOUR COMPUTER. Don’t waste your money. This is ANET issue.
You can buy the best computer in the world and you will still have issues running this game.We are all stuck till anet does something.
Game runs flawlessly for me. Not saying they couldnt optimize some things in the game, but you can’t play this game on a 4 and 5 year old computer and get good frame rates. The game is very much cpu bound and a lot of people having issues have core 2 duos and amd processors which without an overclock, just arent powerful enough.

Two things quickly. For the people that are banned and asking why, ask yourself how many men and women in jail would tell you they are innocent. My second point. As long as the software doesn’t give you an unfair advantage, you will not get banned for it.
So you should be fine. Unless of course the software you are using has a secondary function which could be considered giving you an unfair advantage.
I agree. There should be an FOV slider in graphics options. Its a good idea and more than one person has complained about it. I would put this is game suggestions as well.
Not sure about the other methods, but heres what eyefinity with 5 monitors in portrait look like. But theres also videos showing eyefinity with 3 monitors in landscape as well on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nHKqbNX4fs&feature=youtube_gdata_player
That proves that my CPU is bottle necking.
No, it doesn’t; that is still an assumption. What will prove a CPU-bottle-neck is something showing your CPU is fully utilised and your GPU isn’t. GW2 can fully tax both.
However, my WvWvW drops to 30 FPS were not due to hardware as neither the CPU nor the GPU were anywhere near full load (55% and 25-50% generally). I’ve had this occasionally happen in normal PvE.
I agree but stop posting. Everytime I see your name I get hungry for some :/
Wow thats hot. I setup a custom fan profile and my cpu never goes over 65c on any core and my gpus never go above 64c on the top one and 59c on the bottom card. Even without the fan profile they never went above 75 for the top card and 70c for the bottom. But then again they are 3 slots each and 2.5 slots of each one is just for cooling. Highly recommend the asus directcu cards whether you prefer nvidia or amd. They really run cool especially with that custom fan profile.
It kinda sounds like your video card is overheating. Try downloading MSI afterburner and using the on screen display to figure out what temp your card is running at when your screen goes black.
Ya, unfortunately the word “budget” with the phrase “run this game max/ultra” just don’t go together. Check my sig for my system and even in WvW zergs it can go down to 30 fps, and my system was about 3500 with keyboard/mouse/monitor.
Are the temps 70c even at the time of computer turning off?
Look man, you tried the website and it was wrong. You come here and ask us and we’re now wrong because you are arguing for the website that ended up being wrong? So wtf do you want? Us to lie to you? Fine. Yes your system is reallllllllly high end. O m g. I want it.
When you go multiscreen or above 1080p you will generaly need ether SLI or a high end 600 series. A 580 is good ..but im pritty sure your at its limits.
Best way to tell is to monitor its usage when your at your said 30 fps ..if its at 99% ..ur maxed out and need more gpu power. If its not, then there is another problem.
Also ..you have a 3930k ..why are u not overclocking ..its a monster overclocker
Edit: Swordbreaker before you say anything about my gpu and my 3930k ..yes i know i should be running a newer card, preferably sli ..but im waiting on the 700 series..i have my reasons
)
Thats cool. Was talking about cbuzz. I only brought it up as a point specific to him because he acts like he’s so leet and I couldnt stand the hypocricy.
