Black Screen fixed when Laptop unplugged

When you unplug the laptop, the laptop will switch to its integrated graphics chip instead of using your gpu to save power. Thats why he is able to not have the problem with it unplugged.

What specs do you have? Cpu? Ram? Video card? Since alienware laptops are so customizable somebody else with a m17x may have completely different specs than you based on how they customized it. They could have picked a lowerend cpu or a nvidia gpu where you picked an amd gpu and your problem wouldnt be relevant to what they have or vice versa.

Ah I just reread and you did confirm that SLI is working.

I have heard of games not seeing the second gpu in the gtx690 because both gpus are on one pcb, but I cant confirm nor deny that may be your problem.

I think in your case nvidia just has not kept up on driver support for gw2 as amd has. Which is funny because its normally the opposite way around. The Gtx690 should be right up there if not more powerful in real world fps in games than my two 7970’s. I beleive its just a driver issue at this point. The game just came out so I wouldnt expect for you to continue having fps issues with your setup as patches are released and drivers are updated.

I have a 3930k at stock speeds 3.8ghz turbo and two 7970s at stock speed (925mhz) crossfired and I run everything at max with nothing turned down and get 70-120 fps and when theres a ton of people on the screen maybe 50-55. Its certainly possible to have a rig that runs it at max.

This game is much more demandimg than APB. Could we have your system specs to better assist you.

Where does it say that eyefinity is not supported? Check this youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nHKqbNX4fs

@Serbius You wont see the profile in the catalyst control center. The profiles are added but they’re not user set profiles.

Youre very welcome

Check out amds support page for drivers. They just updated the drivers to 12.8 as well as just updated the CAPs (or Catalyst Application Profiles). Download and install both of them. Nothing special you have to do besides that. After your computer reboots give GW2 a try again and let me know how it runs. The CAP should improve performance of GW2.

What cpu are you running? Also what version drivers are you using and have you downloaded and installed the latest CAP?

CPU- Intel i7 3930k 3.8ghz -no overclock
GPU- 2x Radeon HD 7970 925mhz -no overclock
RAM- 32gb kingston hyperx 1600mhz
Windows 7 64bit
AMD drivers 12.8 with 12.7 caps
exploring, I get 60-100 fps
WvW 30-50fps
I’m not sure if its a placebo but I did notice an increase in FPS performance after that last patch on the 3rd I believe?
I did notice that the asura starter area is a lot harder on my computer than just about anywhere else.
There are some random moments when the fps drops, but I think thats just loading of resources, I don’t have an SSD. 10,000 rpm WD velociraptor but still not as fast as SSD.
Over all, considering everything is on high, I get very good performance considering this is an MMO and not a FPS. There could be a little tweaking to crossfire performance, but so far so good, Arenanet has done a very good job with this game. Much better than Rift, if you’ve played that game, it was terrible in scaling with higher end hardware.
