I’m not happy to have payed full price, played for 2 weeks, not fun, returned a few months back did 100% map completion, finished game. And now its f2p ?

Well, I got powned. Next time tell us its a pre-f2p we are paying for.

Did you read the restrictions the F2p accounts have. With all of though, how can they ruin the economy, and how does it effect you, who can freely still gain wealth unlike them?

True, even without going by restritions, you still had the game much longer then a free player today, and your still playing it now, when they added in the restritions.

You get zero restritions, you get all the X amount of hours you put into it, and wealth. Wealth btw that F2p can’t get, or some things that be hard to get. X more hours of fun still to come after it. What more do you think you “deserve”

lets run down the information objectively;

• 1) 4 new PVE maps
  • some have 3 levels, some dont
• 2) 8 new specializations
  • specialisations represent a new traitline/skills/utilities/weapon they offer a new playstyle for each class
• 3) one new class, the revenant, and 1 specialization for it
• 4) new items
  • 2 new armor sets
  • 5 new weapon sets
  • 3 new legendary weapons
  • 60 new skins/minis etc
• 5)New progression: Masteries
  • gain experience to unlock Area specific abilities and buffs/debuffs
• 6) Guild halls
  • large gathering places for your guild to gather
  • can set up battles
  • can invite others
  • add decorations, 175 decorations will exist
• 7) living story continues
  • the next season in the ongoing story of GW2.
• 8)Raids
  • 3 raid wings released over the course of first month or so
  • 1st raid wing has 3 bosses

There is also the new Wvw, and it updates, and Pvp maps too, though Anet decided to not lock though away to players who did not buy HoT, and so while not fully part of the package, I still count it as too.

I bought the game full price, well my hubby bought it for me… to me this whole going f2p junk is bull, it’s basically a slap in my face. I think those who paid full price should get some sort of compensation, and those who disagree are probably those who’ve joined free. The economy is probably wrecked now.

I’m a veteran (not 3 years ago but close) and I have no problem whatsoever in gw2 becoming f2p. I mean it doesn’t change anything for me. I can understand the frustration of people who bought gw2 not so long ago and didn’t want to buy HoT. But for the others (I think the majority), it doesn’t change anything at all. You’ll still have to buy the expansion no matter how you jumped into the game, by paying or just downloading it for free.

Now regarding the community, we didn’t have to wait the f2p players to get toxic. Also, a lot of new players are just like me and you : people who want to have fun. The only difference is that they don’t have to pay to try the game and that’s GREAT. Just like O’Brien said, Anet is confident that new players will fall in love with the game and buy the expansion and I agree. Gw2 is an amazing and original MMO that deserves to be at least tried. The more new people try the game, the more constent players we’ll have. And in Gw2, more players mean more fun. So that’s a win-win situation honestly.

Regarding the economy, it is in fact an interesting decision. The gem store remains as it is now. New players gathering large amounts of Gold is going to be balanced by the Gold sunk into the new items HoT will provide. And for the price of the core game, it should be “re-earned” by the sales of HoT. Because indeed new players wont pay right now, but they will when they’ll eventually buy HoT or buy gems. So it is a rather good decision, at least in my opinion.

Also, ArenaNet made it clear now : everytime an expansion is available, the previous content becomes FREE. You won’t have to pay the core game + every previous expansion to be able to play. It is a great deal for newcomers and a great choice for the game in general. As for the veteran , it is how markets work. You buy something at launch and over time, its value decreases but you gained the amount of time you played the game. Sometimes I feel like people forget that buying games isn’t a “real” investment as you can’t profit by selling it later. It is something you buy to have fun, nothing more nothing less.

So the main question is : Did you have fun? If yes, then you have nothing to regret. If no, then quit the game and don’t buy HoT or wait till it comes out and see if you’re willing to make the same bet. Really it is as simple as that.

Also, the free outfit is a cool enough Thank you from Anet for us Veteran and we should be thankfull aswell for a game we spent more than a thousand hours playing and awesome people we met by doing so.

I bought the core game at full price and I don’t regret it at all. These last 2,5 years were great and I had a lot of fun, met awesome people that I may have not met if I waited for the game to be free.

This seems to be the argument they all use, its not a valid argument. Being satisfied with the product I originally purchased does not mean I have to be satisfied with all future changes or leave. As a customer I have the right to complain about my treatment by said company to the company. What they do with that complaint is up to them, but if I hear one more high school student ask me “Did you get 60 dollars worth of play out of it?” I am going to flip my kitten. That shows an ignorant, ridiculous, naive take on the real world…

You got a game, restriction free, X amount of hours, X more hours coming, and all that wealth, that they can’t get, or some things easily at all till they pay. what more do you want?

Of course, not like you have no restriction, and the 1,000+ hours and everything you earn in that time, over F2P who get to trial the game, and maybe buy it.

They said, it take some time, and to wait, and there a lot of players to mass mail, so I say if you not got yours by next week and you assume you should, then send a support ticket, but for not it best to wait, and relax. No need to be stress, lol.

Yes, I know, it a shame people have to act like this, and such, but with the restriction in place, I am not really worry about free people. It very hard to be a jerk, and the way gw2 is, not much can e kill steal and such, and so i am not sure why the hate.
I can understand dislike, but pretty much, making it feel like it the end of the world confuses me, that all.

Now an expansion is coming, we all have to pay for it, but what you still get is more hours, and more fun out of it, and all though new things, and on top of that, what ever content comes out like it id for the three year of core. so you payed like 20$ a year for the fun, more or less depending if 60$ the correct price tag.

There really is no reason for all this hate. The restriction are pretty good, the security is tighter then it ever been, lets welcome the new players, and be the friendly people we are supposed to be,.

Bots in WoW and FFXIV pay monthly subs for that kitten. Do you really think a mere 10$ was going to stop them here? Guess what, the answer is no. Anet’s anti botting net is what stops them. Now on top of their anti botting technology they’re restricting free player’s gaming experience into oblivion to keep the game pristine. Come back with a better argument.

You know the free trial already restricted to prevent most of what a bot wants to do anyways?

I for one welcome our new players. We are known as a pretty nice community, yet, all the stuff being thrown around saying F2P are not welcome and are scum is just wrong. Most players have not even done anything wrong yet, and we should encourage them to enjoy the game.

They also can’t get daily login to hurt the economy, or be able to give their wealth away. They also protected pvp cause of level restrition, and even then it been added from before you need to be at least rank 20 before entering offical one. WVW can’t till level 60, and such.
Also gw2 already has hacker, and they are still working on differnt way to prevent this stuff.

I love how people are complain about f2p being toxic when all of you are already treating them like mud before they even get here. Shape up and grow up. This is not a bad deal. They will keep a eye on things, and make sure things don’t go crazy, they already limited new accounts pretty hard to where you really have to try to be a jerk, and even then, a simple block will prevent the chat any more. I can’t even seeing it effect WvW really, since not only do you have to level up to 60 before then, most server population already max for joining anyways. the lowers ones, maybe, but then they might turn out to be players, and you will all have a good time.

I thought this was over with the pre sale. Again Anet finds ways to offend people that payed for the game. I can not afford HOT now so basically I paid for what they are now giving away for free.

You might want to read the restritions, and figure out how much you use, that they can’t, and what you earn in the past how ever long you had the game, and then go from there.

I agree to this too. I do not mind people who own a couple accounts to do this, because they are supporting the game, but free player getting them, does not seem fair, as it hurt the trading post in little under a month.

While no one know for sure if this is right, that data from what I read was for the last time a trial version when through it paces.

Also if it is true, we wont know what kind of restriction will happen. How to prove their account to be good and not toxic. Maybe they have to buy gems, to access the gem store and trading, maybe this or that, there lots of way it can go good and bad, I know, but were running on zero info here, and it not worth worring about till we get the official announcement.

I think we all need to relax until some kind of official statement. Letting a rumor or a leak, or what ever, without context, go out of hand, not going to be good for anyone.

I am just going to wait till Saturday. That way i get the full announcement and not get what looks like, out of context info.

I think it might be more than 5 points. Some of those achieves have tiers. Not that it is likely to matter to anyone other than the hardest core AP hunters, of which I believe there are fewer even percentage wise than those affected by the 500 gold cap.

Either we keep the points or we don’t. Their total amount will be minuscule compared to the thousand points per major achieve goalpost.
