We’ll due to time constraints (and real life) I have not stepped back into FoTM to regain any personal levels.
Far too many pugs, far too much risk of a 4 hr session with bugs.

Would I have stopped at FoTM lvl 30 if I had known about this. – ABSOLUTELY.
I still feel extremely angry about this release and how the player base has been treated over this release.

Is it any surprise that lvl 50 has already been hit now? No.
The only word from ANET we have your feedback and have been discussing it.

This needs more how about some action and recognition of the gems, items and time people have feel has been wasted and doing something positive towards the players they have upset.

The goal posts are moving too rapidly in this MMO for my liking without consideration of the impact it will have.

It’s for this very reason I have not stepped back into FoTM since having my personal level reset. FoTM is way too long with pugs.

To me this has been the most disappointing release so far. – as it fails to fix the numerous FoTM existing bugs. It would be nice to see that the devs actually can do these things in a reasonable time limit at the higher limits.

Yes – this achievement is bugged.

Let me tell you a secret on how QA departments generally work in the real world:
QA departments are there often to validate or verify if things work or not.
They often generate a large amount of feedback for the development & management team to resolve (confirmed bugs or problems).

The people who make the decision “when to fix” or “release with the bugs/problems” are often not the QA dept. These decisions are usually made a lot higher up (and not by developers!). Generally unless is a complete show stopper – e.g. Crashs the entire worlds – things do get released in the real world which often considered sub-par quality.

The devs may have fixed the issue but it may be in an internal code release which is being retested/validated by QA. The decision to push out the code which actually fixs the issue is probably not made by the developer (think higher up – like program manager on which portions of code get released).

This is often the reason why many programs are released with major bugs (known internally by a select small group of people) or bugs (fixs) which may have been resolved by are yet to see the light of day. [Think MS Windows, Office, etc – all major pieces of software with extensive bugs even to this day].

I do agree the communication could be much improved to ensure that when something is “fixed” – it is working for the public release.

I would love to see a lot less bugs (frustrating issues) and a higher quality release/update.
High quality takes time (not rushed) to get a polished product instead we seem to be getting an average quality – where players are finding workarounds to each bug (or unintended feature) in order to progress.

Hi Pax,

I would also be interested to hear if you experience any side effects from the temple of dwayna quests – where there is a lot of ‘strobe/flashing’ all over the screen of flames when battling vs Dwayna.

(This bug has been present for over a year and reported many times to the developers/forums).

I know this issue (strobing/intense flashing) has been found difficult to deal with from players who do not suffer like you do.

Fractals Take Too Kitten Long

I agree fractals at higher levels is too long.

There are some good health and safety guidelines which are published by the UK Goverment:

“short, frequent breaks are more satisfactory than occasional, longer breaks: e.g., a 5-10 minute break after 50-60 minutes continuous screen and/or keyboard work is likely to be better than a 15 minute break every 2 hours;”

All content should be designed with health and safety in mind.
These recommendations exist for good reasons.

Unfortunately if you even think of taking a break within a pug run this can often result in being kicked or flamed.
Yes – I have experienced this during a 3hr+ run when taking a small <3 min break (not running with that group again). A 10 min break being agreed by an entire team is highly unlikely hence you will get kicked.

Well I’ve been getting this issue on a ‘FIXED’ ADSL line.

Its seems to be happening a lot on Malcors Leap map (Jade Quarry).
The other maps are fine – its only this one.

I suspect its server side.

I agree completely with you Jmar.

The equity loss is more than just time here, it is access to better loot tables and rewards that these players (>30) have earnt in many cases.
I ran FoTM lvl 48s (once I had enough AR) after hitting lvl 38 knowing that the end daily chest has a better % chance of fractal/ascended weapons.

We the players had no idea how much difference lvl 30 loot tables are from lvl 50 – they would need to be significant to ensure people played the higher levels instead. This is what we are being denied access to. We now have to redo the levels (which are now easier to reach lvl 50) to get access to the same prior loot tables.

Now IF the loot table at lvl 30 (new) = existing loot table at lvl 48 – this would be more interesting. It still would not be fair but the sense of equity loss would be less.

Many people don’t read the news or new patch release notes until after the release hits. I expect more fireworks next week (not the “happy new year” fireworks type either).

Okay – it’s pretty safe to say ANET might be getting the message.
I don’t agree with the equity loss at all. The number of posts ‘against the change’ vs ‘for’ is overwhelming for people who have progressed up to the lvl 50 (and many who are 30-50).

What they can do about it now (who knows) – I would like to hope that they have had several internal meetings about this. I sincerely hope like many of the players here that ANET carefully considers their impact of there decisions in future – especially when going back on design principles or prior patch advertising (infinite levelling dungeons etc).

Many players consider the long-term goals and not just short-term when playing based on new content (such as FoTM).

Considering the uproar pre-patch it’s going to be worse when the release hits in two days time and people realise what has just happened or a returning player.

This change in my consideration is as bad as the dreaded “server rollback” of a weeks effort (a good example of equity loss with a much larger affected player base) – I just hope that this never occurs.

Imagine a player returning after a months break to discover the equity loss – this may be just enough to ensure they never return (to them it feels like a server rollback).

Automatic Reset of Bugged Events

Hi ANET,

There are a number of events that frequently seem to get bugged on various servers.
Could there be some way to automatically reset the bugged event chains without manual intervention ?

My thoughts on this:
There is a public API that shows where big events are and the status.

Example:
Event: Temple of Dwayna
Status: Beat Up Malchor
Time in this stage: 221 hrs+ (Jade Quarry)

Is there some way of putting a wrapper around the event to check the API – if the API detects an event has not progressed it resets the chain in some way on the server you are in?

I know humans are great at seeing from the above information that something is definitly wrong.

If certain stages are still up > N hours something is probably wrong (especially mid-chain).

I know this wont help if an event has not started – in these cases it should be has this event started within N hours of the prior chain event starting?
If not reset the ‘primary event’ to kick the chain off again.

Right now if we are lucky the events will kick-start into life every 2-weeks when a major release happens (but not always).

I know this wont fix the root-cause of the bug (which is often intermittent – sometimes it works, sometimes it does not) but this would lessen the pain being experienced until the bugs are stomped out.

I wouldnt mind opting out of all of the leaderboards tbh at least from public view.

Prehaps we need some simple options on our account:
1) Opt out from public viewing your stats / leaderboard (excludes friends in common)
→ You appear as ‘annonymous’ or something if you have opted out?

2) Opt out from friends viewing your stats / leaderboard

- I dont mind my friends seeing (where we are common friends for example).

This allows us to retain some privacy and security to our status.

Client side : skills stop responding

Hi All,

I and several other members in our guild have been experiencing a very unusual type of skill lag where our skills would stop working. We would press a skill (mouse or keyboard) the skills wont light up or attempt to be executed.
We will be running around in a zone and all of a sudden all character skills will stop working (we can continue to run about, jump, talk to others in party/chat).

There is no noticeable lag or any packet loss (confirmed as I was ran a wireshark network capture as the issue started – so I can confirm all packets were reaching ANET servers and communications were working correctly with no packet loss occurring and network traffic was responding quickly ).

It is not a server side lag issue as others in our party are all working fine (they can use skills and do stuff). We know this via chat/voice comms as our team can see us running about fine avoiding monsters in PvE (not in a high population map zone) and kiting the baddies to avoid damage. They do see us running around without any noticeable lag on map (from the team members – hence it does not seem like ‘lag’ between an individual and the server)

The only fix we have found is to close and reopen the GW2 application and then this allows skills to work normally instantly. Unfortunately this can mean a loss of event rewards if a map goes into overflow or a long que if we were in WvW.

This seems to be an intermittent bug (not easily repeatable) and random to when it will occur (low populated maps, high populated maps) and infrequently (eg once a month or week). I have seen people report this bug in-guild during WvW and PvE. This is not a Zerg issue as we can move to a quiet corner of a map and our skills do not start responding (even after 5 mins) – we can still use waypoint and move about. We just cannot use any character skills.

I am wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this issue with the same symptoms?
- I think it’s best if people chime in here if they have this problem in “quiet” areas of a map (not in a wvw Zerg) when in a party with voice comms to confirm that you can move without lag from your party members.

I did the following:
1) request refund for excessive tools via support ticket
2) waited for instructions from ANET to proceed via email
3) proceeded to follow the instructions as follows:
designate 3 soul bound tools -> account bound (which were on my character) and put them back on the character.
I then took these 5 tools from my inbox (account bound until used – when they become soul bound) and proceeded to delete them as I read the instructions and then emailed ANET (was the next step).
This required that I typed to confirm the delete each time for each of the tools that was being deleted.
4) emailed ANET immediately (within 5 mins) that I had deleted 5 tools (after they were deleted) and these are the tool types as I listed in the request for refund.

I am on the Jade Quarry server.

Yes – I followed the rules (as I read them from the email).

I converted a set on my character to account bound (from soul bound) at the Black lion vendor.

I then took the items I no longer required from my “inbox” and then proceeded to delete each tool in turn. It required me to even type the “tool name”’ for each delete. After I completed the deletion process I then sent an email to support on the ticket.

A quick count of how many tools I purchase on my account and how many tools I currently have would also prove the deletion.
E.g 14 tools purchased – 9 remain (across all chars).

I am very concerned that I will not get my refund.
How can ANET not find a deletion of tools?

I really think there needed to be a better process than this.
I am still waiting for my refund (5×800 gems = 4000 gems).

I am 100% certain that it was deleted at that time / date specified and wrote the email back to support immedietly (or near as) after deleting the tools. It would not allow me to create screen shots of the deletion process as you cannot generate screen shot when running the delete (in-game).

Prehaps next time – an in-game NPC for a refund would have been a lot better.

Given that the infinite gathering tools can now be account bound and swapped between characters – I have extra tools that I no longer require.
Would it please be possible to get a refund on my extra sets that are no longer required ?

These are 1xBL Picks, 3 x Consortium harvest tool, 1x Chop-it all axe

These items are currently sitting in my ‘inbox’ and are now surplus to requirements.

A simple GEM refund on these items would be nice:
5×800 Gems = 4000 gems.

This will still leave me with 3xFull sets of the tools (which is more than sufficient for my needs).

This thread has certainly provided interesting reading – some of us here inherently understand the problems of trying to generate a ‘RNG’ system.

This is why basic things like the C++ function: rand(value,seed) are often not good enough to be classified as random enough for many real world applications (esp for security keys).

It would be great if the devs at least have a look at this thread.

They don’t need to give us how it works or tell us anything . I certainly would be more comfortable knowing the RNG was based on an external factor rather than a simple seeding based RNG or tied to a character or an account property. An external RNG service is more likely to not be insider tampered either for their own gain as it is more random.

We already know WvW Ques are not Ques – who knows the Devs may even improve the RNG algorithm in GW2 over time based on suggestions in this thread.
Some people do seem more lucky than others (2 precursors in one week as a loot drop – yes it has happened to a single person and they are not hardcore farming, the odds of this should be astronomically low) – that’s why we wonder is it based on some character trait or something.

I even hear the odd report if you don’t play for a while and come back your loot significantly improves for a few days. All based around the RNG (like mystic forge).

In the same way I have had more luck getting mystic clovers if I make one attempt /day (much higher than I should). If I try to make more than one set of clovers per day my success drastically decreases.

You are more than welcome to give yourself a stop watch and set your own personal challenges.

E.g. Solo FoTM If you want !
Fastest guild run! (I participated in many timed runs in GW1 and broke a timed few records)

The idea is not to alienate a majority of players so they don’t even bother with a zone at all or attempt it.

The resetting of progress is a different issue entirely and has been discussed in multiple other threads lets not confuse the two please. (Equity loss is something I do not support or rewinding of players personal levels > 30 down to 30.)

I would like the developers proving that the later harder fractals can be completed fin the average amount of time specified e.g. Dredge in the 15-20 min window at the higher levels not just <lvl 30. No-one likes being stuck in an single FoTM that they know will take 1hr to complete a single stage (for whatever reason) whatever the team composition.

The pro-hardcore players should be able to take the 15-20 min aim and take the time to sub 10 mins.

I take a different example: Underworld / FoW from GW1 – casuals took 4 hrs.
Pro teams worked out how to get this down to <10 mins (Yes I could get a ~8 min full run back in the day and 2 man UW runs in about 20 mins)

There is your challenge – prove you are the best and fastest around.
There is no need to force people to get bits of stuff done within time limits or it resets – it just causes griefing between a team of players and much frustration.

The idea is to try to have both groups of players catered for.
If something is not challenging enough for you – set yourself some goals such as the fastest, a particular build composition or even soloing high end stuff.

Time limit would be fun. If you time out you start that round over again (not the whole thing).

This seems orientated to a hard core crowd – I cannot support this suggestion.
Often new zones are difficult and may take a while to figure out how to do it.
If you want to ‘time your run’ for bragging rights that’s fine.

Remember the devs stated that each fractal should take approx 15-20 mins each. Unfortunately this has proven not to be the case often at higher levels this is why they are making fractals “easier” (even at lv 50 – they have stated this numerous times)

It’s worse than this…. You can’t join party’s (team up) which means:
No dungeons
No Toxic Tower instances
No co-operative play
No FoTM
No guild buffs
No guild storage
Lower quality drops (known factor if you adventure solo)

Too many things have been broken – this needs looking at please.
Please someone wake up and at least acknowledge there is a problem.

Yeah like that will ever happen… 24hrs and counting the loss of influence, no access in guild for things such as consumables etc.. no worries the TP will sort you out, just stock up on gems first then xfer to gold then go Christmas shopping for your guild.. it wont come back the other way, ever!

I would rather these bugs are fixed.

The NA servers also have APAC Players (Chinese) on them who also seem to be affected.

Suggestion:
Can ANET please implement a ‘follow the sun’ support model to fix these ‘big bug’ issues quickly or at least issue an update. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Follow-the-sun)

Currently us non-NA Players have a long wait for America to wake up and start looking at support tickets or replying back.

It really is making me feel like a 2nd class citizen as I’m not American and on the same support-timeframe as ANET support. (Its how I feel – they may have support techs working overnight in America answering querys for the EU / APAC – but I just dont see it or they are overworked possibly)

The question is:
Have I missed out on good loot ? (A precursor drop as I cannot party up?)
Do I miss out as I cant do any dungeons / other stuff with friends ?

We all know that being in a Party means that you get better loot.

This bug last happend on the 21st October, It started repeating again on the 22nd November.

Should I put an entry in my diary not to play on the 21nd-23th December?
If it goes wrong again on that date – we’ll know its too frequent to be a co-incidence.

Dear ANET,

I would like to OPT-OUT of the leaderboard if it is implemented in a public form or at least have some privacy in the leaderboard.

Why?
If it is a public leader board – e.g. like the following:
1 = ‘My name is FOTM’ (in-game character name)
2 = ‘Volcanarous’
3 = ‘I play too much FoTM’

There is a big security risk (IMO) that players on the public leader board will be bombarded in-game by players with PMs/Messages or hack-attempts to steal someones account (as they are known to be good at what they do).

At minimum please require players to type in a players name to find out where they are in the leader board.

OK – Works: Escort the supplies to Siegemaster Denbi (71)
OK – Works: Defend Agent Carver as she attempts to capture Izz-al-Din Sarayi (72)
OK – Works: Defend Agent Carver from Risen attackers (72)
OK – Works: Escort the weapons transport to Lasciate Gate on Orr (73)
OK – Works: Use Pact weaponry from the weapons transport to break through Lasciate Gate (74)

Alone in the Guild Bugg.... Again

There does seem to be a bit of a patern to this..It is almost exactly 1 month ago this problem occured to the day.

Last night (21st Nov) – there were login problems for EU Players on the server.

This seems to happen like clockwork now.
Please get to the bottom of this and fix it once and for all – no more temporary fixs.

Okay lets try to help out a bit…
I Am a EU Player on a NA Server (Jade Quarry) – Friends/Guilds are broken.

I have also asked in Guild Map (Jade Quarry):
This is also Affecting ALL Chinese Players on NA Server (Jade Quarry)

I wonder if this is connected with last night (where all EU Players regardless of server they play on) could not connect or play.

I am disapointed that this problem seems to happen bi-monthly – please improve the stability of the system.

Please make ascended armor ALT friendly

? Here are just a few problems with this:
Armour type: Medium, Light, Heavy – how to do conversion? (They are made using different crafting disciplines)
Prestige: Ascended armor and weapons are considered “elite” and should be hard to get.
A single person who has multiple characters would make it look like everyone has it.
The same is true for legendary items and ascended weapons.

Cost: This is subjective – some people find exotic armor too expensive (Seen the prices recently? They have shot up it can easily cost 30g now for a full set). Some people find ‘rare armor expensive’. These things are not designed so you can have it on every character from day 1. It currently takes less than two weeks to craft/find all the mats to make one ascended weapon – even less time if you are lucky (about a month or so for chars with multiple ascended weapons).

Crafting: This is only one route to getting ascended stuff – it also drops in the open world with a reasonable drop ratio (better than precursors !).

Drops: Ascended weapons have been dropping in FoTM and world bosses – the values of these will become lower if a player only needs one and can use across multiple characters. New dungeons paths have been dropping ascended weapons.
I have been lucky and received one from FoTM (box allowing me to choose any ascended weapon with celestial stats).
Ascended armor will also be dropping in FoTM when it is released (ANET have confirmed this)

Market: It would crash the current crafting market for ascended items (inscriptions etc) and affect a large player base of crafters. These people will feel betrayed and very hurt if the time-gated market crashs and their effort is now worthless. ANET promised that the time gating would help stabilise a market so people have a reason to craft to lvl 500.

There is nothing forcing you to have ascended items on all your toons.
I am afraid that I do understand this all too we’ll – the side effects and complaints will be massive in the player base.

Heck if you want ascended armor account bound, why not rare and exotics?

  • Many new players also find that ANY equipment is too expensive from the TP until they figure out what a champ farm train is.

I have a multiple lvl 80s – I am HAPPY that it takes time to make each toon kitted out.

For new features/items being thought about an initial short list can/should be chosen by ANET as these are hopefully viable ideas that can be fixed.
Players can initially decide the priority of the short list (by priority voting against the list).

Prior to new changes:
I would love to see allowing a player to vote once with priority wrapped against the short list (1= Important to 5=Unimportant).
It is impossible to do everything at once well. It is better to concentrate on a few things and get it right first time than make a complete hash of many things.

The progress of the voting needs to be transparent (updated within a timeframe) ideally see real time or near real time results within the time period. One person = one vote. A person can change there mind (priorities) but when the close period occurs the players decision is locked.

After major changes
People will change their minds about “decisions already made” and a survey of player QA feedback would be fantastic to see if these decisions are working in the long term against parts of the player base. (Teq is one thought which comes to mind – how many people are “still happy” with it – I don’t think anyone really knows. It’s easy when your isolated in a good server or in particular timezones e.g. NA person on a NA server reset. It also needs to be linked against people of various profiles – eg hardcore/semi casual/casual as each of these people have different concerns depending which server they are on).
The beta period was great to give feedback in game.

Players can be encouraged to complete in-game surveys via in-game mail to a NPC that gives a minor carrot for a persons time (dangled carrots work wonders) Or it links to forum to allow voting on a particular topic.
This would also ensure that non-English speakers can have input into the feedback process of how things went (the forums are English only ! – Automatic exclusion of many players). Sometimes it is necessary to repeat asking about the same thing a couple of times over a long period of time to find out how effective a change really has been.
A simple voting system could ideally be multi-language.

Example: Survey: Infinite gathering tools
1) do you think these tools should be account bound ?
(1- strongly agree, 5- strongly disagree)
2) do you think it’s important to change the existing tools in your inventory from soul bound to account bounded so they can be swapped and used on multiple characters?
3) Should there be an in-game NPC to refund gems in exchange for returning excess gathering tools if these change to account bound?
4) would you be affected by this change?

If something is shown not to be working well – via a survey in the long term it should be re-examined and possibly reworked (and revoted).
I did not see much information published about the change in tools, and even less about the possibility about a refund of excess tools (I know more now than I did when it was released – and it was not widely published about a possible refund of now excessive tools).

A quick survey on the topic helps promote knowledge and thinking on what changes may happen and how players could react before it is implemented.

A post-change survey might be something like:
1) did you feel ANET handled the change of your tools to account bound smoothly?
(1- agree, 5- disagree or NA)
2) Do you think you had enough information about the change and could understand it ?
3) was the refund process for excessive tools easy?
4) are you a casual player playing < N hours a week ? (Next survey could ask if you are a hardcore player > 40 hrs/week for example)
Etc…
I only found about the refund process via the forums, where it was not published in the patch notes. It could have been better

The votes or results need to be summarised up (rather than individual posts in a forum setting) and published In a graphical way. It might be that a player can pick one of N surveys to give feedback on (they can repeat the same survey at a later date).

It’s all about analytics and numbers to ensure that things happen in the right way and learning from prior mistakes to ensure that PR (and trust) with the community improves over time.

I’m pretty certain feedback from the community of players is important from all the different types of player.

Disconnects and lag

Are you on Jade Quarry by any chance?

I was on that server earlier today in Malcors leap and the following happened:
lag started:
So I did an /IP address and got an IP address back ending .100 (multiple players in zone we’re experiencing lag during Lyssa temple event at about 50% health)
A few mins later a 007 occurred (~I got DC’d)

I reconnect and rerun the /ip command:
I got an IP address ending in x.×.×.166

The server hosting the JQ zone seemed to have changed whilst live.

I have heard other players experience similar things during quest chains (en-mass 007s randomly) and they would log back in and the quest chain would not be there, spawn or occur. This has been on other maps though.

Two days ago in Malcors leap (JQ) – I was farming a resource node and the one next to me disappeared (I had not mined it). It just vanished off the map.

I raise these points as:
I have seen some very weird strangeness going on within Malcors Leap and an unusual number of disconnects from this map in particular and server IP addresses randomly changing. The zone seemed more stable after the IP address change – it could be some form of hardware failover system if an error is detected in the system. I really don’t know.

It could be ANET we love them really are trying to fix bugged event quest chains or something (Dwayna has been stuck on Malcor chain for several days and it just won’t spawn).

Is the mystic forge Really random ?

Okay, what we have to remember here is the following:
Can a logical machine make random numbers ?

Now for a real life example:
ERNIE – which calculates a random number to allocate prize draws (bit like a lotto)

Pseudorandom numbers, often called simply random, can be recreated by anybody who knows the algorithm used to generate them as they are produced in a deterministic way; true random numbers cannot. "

A machine which generates RNG using a software algorithm cannot be truly random.

I would encourage you to look at: http://www.random.org as a site where the randomness comes from atmospheric noise, which for many purposes is better than the pseudo-random number algorithms typically used in computer programs.

I truly hope that we do not use a software pseudo number random generator and the game uses something like an external service. If the random numbers are generated by individual ANET hardware servers in software or by a clients PC then it is highly unlikely to be truly random.

Going even further chaos theory is often used to make sense of what may seem like random events.

I hope ANET is using an external source for randomness and not a software generated algorithm (which is often not very random).

I would love to see a vote ability on these type of crazy suggestions.

My vote=“No”
I enjoy jumping parts of maps to get to different places, jumping across chasms etc etc.
You often need to jump for the following:
Vistas (even in low level areas)
JPs
Get to a higher vantage point to have a better chance of winning vs a baddie (A person in a sword fight has a better advantage if they are on a staircase and fighting downwards than the person trying to fight upwards. The person at the top of the stair case can chop the persons head off more easily than the person at the bottom etc etc)

Standing in a tree with a bow and arrow fighting baddies below is a common scenario and should not be punished. Is it wrong to be on top of a cliff and shoot below at foes below you?

The problem comes with Ascended ones as they are too expensive specially for me ( got 6 80es ).
I just want Anet to change them from soul bound to account bound.

Compensation for getting reset to level 30?

Anyone who wants to progress in an MMO, whether it be by accumulating gold, going up in PVP or WVW ranks, or accumulating gear, needs to know that any progress achieved is secure. Anet’s reset here undermines my trust in the security of any progress, not just that in fractals.

A lot of people are very upset and are loosing faith in the ethos of the development and are considering quitting especially if other aspects of progress is reset (wvw ranks, server rollbacks etc) all have this effect.

Can you imagine the request for refunds from guild laurels or ectos (spent on each char) for ascended and infused times?

This is almost as kittenaying -
*I want to buy one armor set and use it on all characters at the same time without any penalty or fees.
*I want to buy one amulet and use it across all chars simultaneously.

What about characters without “infused” Backpieces do they automatically get AR that characters with infused Backpieces have.

This suggestion gave me so many giggles for far too long from the first post.

(Account bound AR – given the way infusions work).
I can see many upset players who use fine infusions on have spent time buying rings with laurels on multiple alts would not be laughing.

These things are created as gold sinks – it’s the same reason why you need to buy N armor sets (one per character!) and N weapons per character. The other alternative is the ’soul bound → account bound transmutation stones (via gems) → soul bound when Re-equipped on a new char)

In short “Nope” – I cannot see this happening.

What about Fine infusions (AR)?

This incoming patch has confused me so much (it’s nice to be wrong – I like being wrong to help me understand what’s going on and don’t mind admitting being wrong)

So if I understand correctly:
“Only Infused items get the agony resistance infusion slot (currently we only have infused rings/backpieces). "
- Ascended / Legendary weapons accept the current “fine infusion” (2 per dual handed weapon) and this is not a agony resistance infusion slot (it’s defence, attack or omni and will stay that way). So this would stay the same.

Rings/Backpieces have the (infused) +5 AR built in stat converted to a new “agony infusion slot”. This is the new upgradable slot with more AR via fractal agony infusion drops.

Fine infusions are still best in class remain so for the other types of infusion slots (omni, defence, attack).

Before:
Infusions via FoTM relics or tokens: +5 AR (basic)
Fine infusions : Mystic Forge : +5 AR and +5 stat (fine)

Example of a fine infusion:
Precise Infusion
Source Mystic Forge Output qty. 1

Ingredients:
50 Philosopher’s Stone 20 Mystic Coin 250 (2g) Passion Fruit 100 (1g) Vicious Claw (~30g)
Cost: 33g and skill points (based on current TP prices)

After update:
>+5 AR is possible via drops for a single infusion with lvl 100 art crafting
Will current fine infusions change mystic forge recipe ?

How is it okay that people who have spent >33g per fine infusion for the best in class are suddenly finding that these are going to need to be replaced IF:

  • start getting fractals at a higher limit (requires more than AR 55)
  • A single +10 AR infusion (via drops and now requires crafting) is > +5 AR fine infusion

A full set of fine infusions on a character currently is: 11×33g is > 330g (minimum per character) to have this replaced with a better drop based/crafted infusion. Many of the fine infusions are even more expensive to make (eg requires 250 t6 mats like armoured scales)

Am I missing something here?
Have players which have spent a lot of time and or in-game gold about to be regressively punished for buying/making those fine infusions?
Why do I feel bad if people find there current fine infusions are now seen as worthless?

I am really confused about how this will work out in the long term especially when/if lvl 50 becomes uncapped in the future and requires us to have +10AR in each individual slot. Please help me understand this and how this does not hurt people who currently have and use fine infusions.
