Prehaps my title for the ‘Gear Inspect’ is the wrong title?
- I couldn’t think of a more suitable title.

Being able to ping what I have easily as a “one button press” ping – aka here is the build I’m running with my gear/traits/sigils/runs/etc – seems like we’re in agreement that its a pain to do right now, there should be a better way.

More than happy if its on the onus of the user to ping, but it needs to be ‘easy’ not the mess we currently have.

- Why?
Its an issue across the board, raiders, fotm, (WvW – not so much), PvP defn. issue.

You wouldn’t want something that ensured you swapped your build without having to remember it off your head and change for a boss encounter ?

I remember running dungeons, and I would swap my build about 3 or 4 times during a single dungeon path at speed.

The same now happens in raids with little adjustments to ensure a group manages easily – only takes a few people to forget.. I wonder how many ele’s forget ‘tempest defense’ at KC for example?

People often make mistakes, and expecting people to manually check everything each time before each encounter is tiresome. Is it down to the commander to remind them each time?

- I am talking about traits that make a significant impact, please go calculate the loss in effectiveness of overall healing on a 2 heal party at Matthias, and the impact on a 90% scholar buff.
- Calculate the loss of might in a group as the shout is not used.

These are examples of traits and utilities, which make a very significant impact especially in pug groups.

I can easily think of one on Chrono that can mean a fail for example at Matthias:

- The persistence of a feedback bubble on reflect can cause havoc if someone is running this as a hang-over from a prior boss (E.g. slothy) where it is actually advantageous.

Raids are a perfect example where it is for ‘organised’ groups – this isn’t even “gear” – this is “builds”. How can you truly organise if you cant ensure balance across everyone?

Different groups do things differently, and team comp is the requirement to ensure things are a success. Druids on some encounters may be expected to take more condi clear for a boss in one group, other groups would rely on a mes to do something. Missing the one utility – yes can mean a wipe.

Remember its not so much a problem in static groups, but I certainly lead and have lead pug groups for far too long.

Is another one..
Takes quite a bit of effort / discussion to identify the problem more often than not.
Could easily do it in 10s if could see (a) build or (b) give them a build from a template in-game so they could update their own.

May not be a killer in a static group, but with pugs – who are often close and unknown quantity’s can be a bit of a killer.

Don’t underestimate the complexities of deailing with pug groups.

So let me think of a recent one.. oops I forgot to equip:

My group keeps going boom.. oh my its because I keep forgetting to swap stuff.

Its not always about personal DPS – sometimes one trait such as this can make x2 diff in heals → ability to kill or not kill.

All,

Scenario: Build Template Tool
I go into a RAID or FOTM –
For Boss A:
a) Think I need X,Y,Z equipped, signets/accessories/traits to I conform to build ‘Condi’
For Boss B:
b) I now need build ‘Power’
- spend 5 mins swapping my gear around, traits etc.

I proceed to start killing ‘Boss B’ but oops – I forgot some stuff, group wipes.
(My fault – a single trait or utility skill – just cost our group 6K or a wipe as a needed utility in the team comp was not there).

Is there anything out there that will check I have the right build against what I define as a saved build ?

Is there anything out there that will allow to swap builds for my gear, so I don’t have to spend 5 mins clicking swapping stuff and making mistakes?

Now.. I’m really lazy – I forget to swap stuff about or would like advice on meta.

Scenario: Gear Inspect
Is there a way I can show my build easily in-game, without having to ping everything?

- This way my fellow guildies and team-mates can easily check if I (don’t have build inspect/templates) that I remembered to equip everything up right. There have been sooo many times, when I forget something (E.g. swap power ele -> heal ele) really important which just costs the group a wipe or two.

I know the API can do it – but it takes like 10 mins to update, so that’s not really Practicle as its too slow to update. Going into my build and pining every trait/weapon/utility out is cumbersome and doesn’t show all items with stats shown in some cases (not great).
Have also been trying to help others – and its amazing how many people don’t know how to ping what gear they have/traits/utilities in many cases (let alone get an API key up and working) which can make helping someone take way too long. > 20 mins when it could be done with a simple gear inspect quickly.

The two key things that both of these items bring are:

  • Improve Ease of Use

Seems like these two things are kinda essential to make a game like this work so much better.
Still wondering why we don’t have them – unless I’ve missed something and we do?

Cal – sent you an example (check mail) where I believe the -MMR loss occurred and a player returned after being DC > 3 mins. Used to happen a lot in prior seasons where we would pray a player would not return as pip loss/MMR loss would be guaranteed.

Ofc it could be time moves more quickly than we think when playing a fast moving game.

Hi all,

This bug is something that will hopefully get fixed.
Both scenarios are full of Solo Q players in ranked arena.

Scenario A: The bug
You are in a game where it’s a fun PvP Game (50-60)- player 2 gets DC
Player 2 stats DC for 3 mins of the game (Score now: 300-170).
Your team is now loosing – having lost a key player for an extended time.
Player 2 reconnects back into the game with 20s remaining.
You lose the match (500v400) – Team MMR loss per player is between -16 and -30 (for each player). All players in the solo Q lose MMR on the loosing team.

Scenario B
You are in a game where it’s a fun PvP Game (50-60)- player 2 gets DC
Player 2 stats DC for 3 mins of the game (Score now: 300-170).
Your team is now loosing – having lost a key player for an extended time.
Player 2 does not reconnect back into the game.
You lose the match (500v300) – Team MMR loss per player is 0 (for each player) as there was a DC.

Scenario C
Same as Scenario A but instead of one DC>2 mins the player 2 has 4 DCs of 35s each and reconnects before the end. All solo players lose MMR.

Why is it we have Scenario A?
I cannot think of any circumstances where if a player reconnects after 2 mins the entire team should be punished?

Can anyone justify why Scenario A is different than Scenario B and a reasonable reason why the team could still win and should be punished for Player 2 returning from DC > 2 mins ?

Legendary Jeweler Ideas

Hi All,

Okay we have one major crafting profession outstanding which has not yet resulted in legendary ‘jeweler’…

The idea goes like this.
Allow us to craft the following legendary items:

  • Legendary Rings – Allows stat swapping on rings.
  • Legendary Amulets – Allows stat swapping on amulets
  • Legendary Accessories – Allows stat swapping on accessories.

These three components are missing current from the Legendary category.
We have legendary armor, weapons, backpieces.

Its certainly frustrating swapping 5 items from power -> condition stats – a simple right click -> swap stats would help reduce the inventory of items my toons are carrying around -).

This would be a great “sink” for materials that are currently in strong supply such as ‘Gold’,‘Silver’ which are traditional used to make rings, etc in real life.
We could even have these legendary items have a particle effect like the ghostly infusions when equiped. We all love the particles !

Item 1: The ‘load all’ can still take 5 mins+ – but I would rather hit ‘load all’ rather than be spamming ‘load more’ for 5 mins manually. It can still use the same data ques etc.
Item 3: It’s probably more taxing going back spamming ‘load more’ when swapping between buy/sell order filtering. If the data could be cached client side then verified before changes server side would be much more responsive and less stressful server side
Item 5: TP Crash- it happens in limited circumstances. Deleting the search text means none of the sort criteria then work, nothing works – you cannot use / flick on any other item in the BLTkittenil you close/reopen the BLTC. I tried everything but it seems deleting the search criteria truest crashes it.

Item 2: QoL Fix- would allow us to provide a better UI and the video gives some good examples of the filters you have also suggested and more.

Item 6: this is broken, if you spam the ‘load more’ on your items for sale (not sold items( and spam it quickly it will load less than 1% of all my items for sale. I have to carefully press load more wit for the results to return – and then hit load more again. I am aware that ‘sold items’ and ‘bought items’ are limited to 90 days transaction history, the ‘buying/selling’ lists are not subject to this and the bug I have tested occurs in both these areas of the TP.

If you spam ‘load all’ it spasms out the TP and only loads a partial set of your TP historical orders.
-). Have to click your mouse very quickly to make this one happen.

Raid Portals Panic !

Hey,

Okay – seriously now, we’re getting more raid wings (when its ready) ™ – Wohooo !!
Super excited.

I am in a mass hysterical panic that the walls are going to fall down with all these doors and portals being built into the walls.
We’re running out of space to put more portals into the wall and risking the structural integrity of the wall – its going to collapse soon (when its ready) ™.

Any suggestions where they are going to fit more portals into the Aerodrome without causing the wall to fall down?

I would highly suggest that we use the Airships – one problem :
The builders have been tinkering away for a long time, and the airships are still in construction. They will be ready (when its ready) ™ – hopefully we can start whipping the airship builders into shape and make them go faster.

Perhaps they could also build some sign-posts so I get less lost in future ?
(Memorising 10 future Raid wings and which portal to go through is going to be a challenge)

Anyone else have ideas where we should put the next portals, so we don’t destroy the aerodrome, or is there some magic keeping the wall in place?

Trading Post - Bugs - May 28th 2017

Dear ANET,

Some interesting bugs….
1) The number of items you have listed on the trading post is incorrect.
- See attached screenshot – where I have loaded 53400 TP Listings of 44536 (Max Listed)
- For some reason It allowed me to load 9000+ more TP listings that the TP Thought I had listed (sell listings). This is concerning, as I’m never really sure if the TP actually is working correctly (and for sell ‘all’ listings) this should not be changing if I am loading all entries.

2) The time required to load all items in your trading post listings > 10 mins.
- This should have a ‘LOAD ALL’ item, which loads all the items you have listed.
- Alternate sites like GW2BLTC etc allow you to list all items you have loaded.
- This can be throttled to load at a reasonable request refresh rate to not kill the back-end of the system. Its extremely annoying to hit ‘Load More’ for 10+mins to load all your tp listing history to cancel one item that you may have listed 4Yrs ago.

Some potential improvements:
*3) The trading post cancels your loaded history of items when you go to search buy/sell items *
- This information should be cached, if loaded – and if it is possible to have a ‘Refresh All’ if you need to reload the information. This would also reduce the back-end requirements on the TP Servers.

4) Filtered ‘Load All’
– allow someone to put in the search for the item they are looking for, and to ‘load all’ matching entries. e.g. Tiny Snowflakes – then load all entries just for the snowflakes quickly ;-)

PVP Leaderboard bugged?

Dear All,

Got 122 games played – 1595 rating – not appearing in the top 250 ?
Minimum rating on leaderboard is 1578 for the top 250.

Can anyone explain why yesterday I was in the leaderboard and today, I am no longer on the leaderboard?
Not gone afk, done anything dishonourable in matches not been banned etc.

Pets Galore - Search Pls !

There are so many pets – I cant remember quickly from the icons which is which, without having to read the names.

Could we get a search function when I want to select the pet – e.g. search ‘tiger’ and it shows tigers, search – ‘wolf’ shows all wolfs ?

Please before we get another expansion with lots more pets.

Some more info about BGDM..
The Chinese client does not support an API so it is impossible to ‘gear check’ via the API via sites like gw2efficiency – no API support for the Chinese client makes it impossible to validate gear in any other way. This is one reason why that version exists. So the Chinese client users arre unofficially supported using one with DPS / inspection via the tool. That server is also run by a different company with different TOS- specific to the Chinese market.

The NA/EU client supports APIs – so gear checks can be made via API based applications. For this simple reason no Gear checks are required via an in game tool. Different TOS.

Hasn’t this debate gone on long enough – time to close thread?

They won’t be blocked – they are a useful tool in the right hands.
People will kick/abuse others with/without a DPS meters for screwing up.
Stop using the meter as an excuse when you play badly – if you’re using this as an excuse to stop DPS metres – sry learn to play better. Previously people had to guess who was playing badly or running in Soldier armor in dungeons thinking they were pro cause they were the last one alive. Now we have some more info if you aren’t playing as a selfish sort like this. Getting 1K DPS instead of 10K DPS – yes you should be called out and encouraged to play the game better.

Facts are you won’t like being called out for being bad – guess what unless you are you won’t improve ever or know there is a better way.

How about installing a DPS metre and self improving yourself?

You are not being kicked cause a DPS meter ISVs running – it’s because they believe you are running sub par to their exp group. It’s often an eye opener to see what you believe and what’s going on.

A good commander will look at DPS, buff uptime and situational awareness before recommending to kick. They may only give one of the reasons why they kicked – if your running at 50% of the DPS you should – why should they carry you?
You could secretly be running nomads armor or dying after 30s into an encounter (yes – I’ve had people who often die repeatedly 30s into a8 min fight- may only give them low DPS as a reason : however the real reason is more obvious – you don’t understand or have enough experience with this boss or lag preventing the whole group from achieving the goal of completing this encounter).

If it’s a training run they may address what’s going wrong to help you get the numbers you would expect so the whole group has a much easier time.

DPS meters running them yourself would at least allow you to compare yourself to others and see if how good you think you are vs others is really true. These encounters are not a static punching golem which will ensure the numbers are much lower.

Take the opportunity to learn how to get better – if you can’t beat them join them. They have decided to improve and so can you.

Season 5 Stats - from a player.

Hi All,

From what I can tell my matches have not changed across the season, I placed around silver 1300 or so If I remember rightly (which I knew was wrong) – then moved up to around 1700 now hovering around 1600. Now that that disclosure is out of the way.. . However now, I have some stats if you would like to consider it, as I’m an off-peak player (EU Player playing on NA Server).

Total Matches played = 329
Close Matches – 103 [Matches with <150 win amount (or <-150 loss) ]
Not-Close Matches – 226 [Matches with > 150 loss amount (or >150 loss) ]

Non-Close Match Statistics
- Won : 106 Lost: 113 (Forefeit: 4, Bye: 3 – these are not included in the W/L numbers)

Close Match Stats
- Won: 58, Lost: 39 (Forefeit: 2, Bye: 4 – these are not included in the W/L)

The interesting thing here is there is a around 5% extra non-close matches that I would not have had any chance of hell in winning.

Of those Non-Close Matches, this is where it gets more interesting.
A majority of those non-close matches I have many where the L/W Ratio is significantly higher (>~20 loss ratio where a diff > 350 points).

Anyway have fun looking at the rollup stats of how this played out.

I hope for many more ‘close’ matches in a future PVP Season : 226/329 Non-Close Matches (<150 points diff between W/L) is not any way to judge a players ability by a long shot, unless you can prove this wrong with some back-end math that I’m missing.

"Matchmaking" sucks - EVIDENCE

Just to provide some more stats to the last 100 games- based on end score:
58 games > 150 points difference.. so ‘42’ games could be considered close.
10 games > 400 points difference
21 games > 300 points difference
47 games > 200 points difference

Even 10% of unwinnable games > 400 points difference is bad.
21% of unwinnable games > 300 points difference : also bad.

It’s from figures pulled from gw2pvp.de – I’m finding my win/loss ratio on a profession is forcing. This is from a climb from ~1200-1700 down to 1600 as majority of last games were plain unwinnable.

Your DAY is some other servers night.
East coast US vs West coast US: 5 hrs time diff – your day is someone else’s night.
Europe vs US: 5 hr time diff.

Best thing that could happen is merge US&Eu servers and then you all would have day coverage for the periods. But the likelihood of that happening is well low.

Matchmaking Question

Something very odd is going on with the matchmaking…

From my last 20 matches
13 blow out matches, (<200 v 500)- last match was 22v500 [in plat].
7 which could have been seen as gone either way (>350 vs 500).

One great thing would be if players had access to MMR before / after a match and players in that match via the API. We could then see what the hell is going on a lot easier. There has got to be a reason so many one sided. BLow out matches are occurring ATM.

Okay – so it sound like
1) Team are getting teleported – causing problem to either:
A) not meet eh dps requirement OR
B) not getting enough into the green circle or getting teleported out and then you are all wiping.

Let me give you a couple of hints about the blue Riggs :
The main boss will turn a full 360 degrees then place blue teleport rings under most party members feet which they can then move out of.
If a group of your party are going for the green circle get them to wait just outside it and go in a few seconds before it closes up so they are less likely to be teleported and can see the blue rings. The group going for the green rings (make it 5 people for safety) – ensure one of that group are giving swiftness to that party so you can reach it easier.

What other bits of the fight do you or your team need help with?

  • Most groups prob spent like 7-20hrs learning each boss encounter until they could understand it and successfully kill it the first time.
    Like everything it gets easier with more practice.

The problem I see is many people are still settling into their MMR placements.. seen several people land into Platinum (high) and lose all the way down to silver over a few days. On the other hand some people are rising nicely from bronze and still climbing.

Class stacking is something I really would advocate removing from the matchup.
Would like to see profession locking – you que on the class you are going to play on and using a profession MMR basis.

Would also like to see the algorithm calculate a profession based team comp % likelihood of win/lose rather than just the straight MMR- if we are not going to eliminate class stacking. E.g. 4 thief line up vs mixed team. The thief lineup would naturally be favoured in most cases to lose. It’s things like 3 thief’s, 2 eles vs war, guard, guard, ele, nec – that you can almost guarantee the second team will win or be favoured to win.

It seems a bit meh that they only take decent dmg from any class which does power dmg. Seems a bit unfair to those classes which do Condi dmg mostly.

I’m sorry – if the system is working as intended you’re generating a major grind for those on lower ranks.. I’m getting a 60% win ratio.. and its moving so slowly.. it needs to be higher that +MMR adjustment.

We’ve all had the fun of the mess of placement matches (3 different matches – 3 people went AFK) – but getting a 80% win ratio on last 20 matches and a slow climb is not fun. The ability of the players that I’m fighting against is honestly sub-par what I would usually play.

Dear All,

It would be great if I could be earn my Ascended Armor through PVP – is it possible to actually do this in a single season?

I worked out, that I can reach a max of 950 Shards of Glory by being a try-hard which is pretty fab getting all the chests at least once.

I calculate all the armor pieces required are:
Head – 175, Shoulder – 150, Arm – 150, Breast – 400, Legs – 170, Feet – 150 : Total = 1095.

Is there any way of getting the missing 144 Ascended Shards of Glory or will I have to wait another season to get a complete set?

Great starting attempt to get into the whole record thing …don’t worry the big leaguers here take it quite seriously with lots of practice shaving of seconds and practicing for hours on end this run didn’t quite qualify.

Hi All,

Okay- I’ve been running some tracing back to ANET Servers…
Please see the attached pretty graph.. which shows there is 0% Packet Loss…

Yet ANET Servers (Node 15/16) – are showing hugh lag spike differences.. from 120ms up to 450ms+..

This seems to be the sypmtoms that all of us are describing.

PVP Season 4 vs Season 1

Hi All,

Okay – we know that the PVP Season 4 has some minor tweaks (e.g.) Win Streaks/Loss Streak bonus pips from Season 1…

Lets do a quick comparison:
Season 1 : Pros:

  • Points for trying (200,350,500) etc vs your teams skill level – encouraged players to play to for points overall till the end.
  • More points for N % expected win / loss (2 up to).
  • Win Streak +1 was enabled when winning multiple in a row.

Cons:

  • People with High MMR were teamed with idiots (I mean noobs, same thing?)
  • Difficult to progress on matured accounts
  • Allowed Smurfing as best way to progress
  • Did not represent skill – represented Grind of games.
  • Team Account professions were not taken into consideration (or profession locking) resulting in very unbalanced games.

— Right now I would like to know if any of the ‘Cons’ of Season 1 have actually been addressed in Season 4?

LAG Spikes all over.

I had the same problem yesterday.. then 3 people had the same issue (from different locations). Skills would not cast – flashing skills (reminded me of WvW lag fests) – 1.2 K / 400ms ping average. The lag seemed to rotate through the team – different people at different times not all at once.

What was really annoying I got a code 35 – error : Someone basically has logged into your account somewhere else so disconnecting this session.

This was scary.. is ANET being hacked from somewhere else?

The account management screen did not show any unusal connections – when I reconnected back into the game 20s later.. my ping was back to 120ms.

Something fishy is going on.

I wonder if the Kodan are hungry again.

Mystic Coins again

Just used 36G worth of Mystic Coins and got 10 Clovers back, this needs to be looked at sooner rather than later,

It will get worse if when the new legendary armor drops, as the current legendary back piece requires the clovers which in turn require the coins, you watch the demand sky rocket with the armor drops in game.

It maybe better to drop this on reddit, it may get looked at then.

As you need to do WvW for the legendary – do the Reward Tracks for the WvW Legendary armor – get Clovers at the same time. This will save you a fortune.

Thankfully Clovers have many other sources than Mystic Coins.

I can easily see the shiney coins reaching 2G at this rate – especially if they release new legendarys…. as they are not… I expect them to peak around 1G/Coin – then start to fall back to 50s.

One thing they did was reduce the number of mystic coins that were dropping than before – then increase it in a minor way with Fractals of the Mists.

Either way supply is slightly less than before , demand is higher (new legendarys).. Simple D&S / Price curves here in place nothing more.

The 6 new legendarys – PVP Backpiece, FoTM Backpiece, Shortbow, Astralasia (axe), Nevermore (staff), Chaos Gun (Pistol) – all requiring 250 Mystic coins (before the amount for clovers) – puts a high demand for this material in place.

The clever people made sure they bought a lot before new legendarys so they could craft this stuff.

The other factor is .. .people before didn’t get many pre-cursors – now they can go on the journey and finally get the one they need and are just starting to experience the need for these magical coins for there first legendary weapon.

You only need to look at the price of powerful bloods (t6) – they are nearly 75s each.. heading skywards … which will fall sharply in a few days when the famous frostgorge farm begins returning 20-30g/hr through events.
