Often I will ask someone in a team on a foefire match to break a gate if we have a few spare seconds and then get back to cap.
Some people listen others don’t.
I tend to find the matches where people break a gate allow for a Lord rush unexpectedly which can turn a loosing fight into a win. This mechanic can be so important to turn those close games into Victorys.
I have seen so many arguments on this mechanic alone and if it’s worth breaking the gate it’s so sad. The answer is always ‘it depends’ and timing is everything.
Often it’s not good to wait for 350 / pushing early in a close match may turn the game massively in your favour. I have for example pushed lords at 300-320 with double caps solo’d it down fast to get back to 1 or 0 cap and the match is 495v365 allowing us a easy win in what would have been a lost match. With a single kill or a cap for 10s to win the match denying the opposing team a Lord rush.
The answer is always ‘it depends’ on the team strengths and what they can do- and if it’s the right thing to do.
Sometimes people can kill the animal in the 15s and get to point and defend in time.
If this had happened you would have extended the lead and given a nice little power boost.
The answer truly here ‘it depends’ and cannot say for sure unless you watch the map and the teams rotations carefully.
So you are complaining anyone can get into legendary?
Then why are so many people stuck in Diamond/Ruby/Saphire ?
It took a lot more skill this season to get into legendary than last season.
Last season you could smurf so badly and get into legendary.
This season has definitely been an improvement on the last.
Teaming with ambers and diamonds for easy wins last season something was wrong.

Yes – I think the number of guild slots should be raised to 10.
I have 3 personal guilds – and one main guild slot.
A lot of veterans have more than one personal guild for special shineys – we are secretly scritt.
I have actually found legendary games to be more interesting and less frustrating than climbing the season divisions.
I had an amazing match where I 1v1d against zoosie (Pro league player)- he was honestly god like on his engineer ! My team lost but we were holding out at about 270 each – until our team messed up our rotations and lost 500v 280 or something. It was 270v271 at some point (or there abouts).
Blow outs still happen but it’s way more fun – less stressful as you’re no longer worrying so much about progression.

I’m so happy the RAID Team believes build templates are super important – let’s hope they start work on them after the third wing is out.

Build template load outs are super important for PvP.
It takes too long to change a build – weapons/traits/sigils/runes/skills which you may modify depending what classes you face on the opposite team.
It makes a high difference between able to swap quickly.
Want to go from Condi Rev to power Rev – there are so many changes to do within 2 mins. Anything that cuts this down to seconds so you can sort strategy out with your team at the start would be good.
If your team doesn’t win you gain 0 reward track progress unless you gained one of the TOP player achievements if your personal score is 0.

There are some long loss streaks in my graph of matches – you can even see the blowouts.
Day 1 = Horrid.
I had two massive loss streaks – one of 18 games, one of 20 games in my history.
It also took me over 100 games before my Win Ratio was over 60% !
My longest Win Streak was 6 games in a row
So yes- I could safely say I probably was not on the side of ‘good MMR’

I didnt catch the win train on day 1 of S2 – you can check from the stats/info posted.
In fact I actually lost a lot of games to start with – it is possible to climb out of the MMR Hell – and get legendary !

PROOF – you can make it out to legendary with a messed up start to the season.
This is with < 46% WIN/LOSS For the Season – so my MMR is way way messed up on my main account.
I can also upload all my match data for the entire seasons if you want with win/loss exact numbers/time of match / map.
So what’s the solution?
I think any condition removal skill will also auto-drop the poison from your head.
Shouldn’t be too hard for you to go and test it.
Transforming to a slubling will also remove the poison field and drop it instantly on the ground when eating a magic mushroom.

Oh – if you’re wondering for more proof about the win/loss ratio – I did improve significantly after ruby.
These little gems should help show the win ratio in a bit more detail as time moved on.
Same idea as the prior little graph – the left hand side is legendary and right hand side is amber.
You can see I was clearly all messed up at the start so my MMR would have been on the ’you’re going to get crappy team mates mode’.

Just got to legendary on my necro – I have pretty bad MMR imo (My PVP win Rate has always been < 50% in ranked matches). I was 2 pips away from legendary in Season 1 (then fell back to t3 diamond) before it ended – as I tilted.
The majority of matches were also solo Q’d – with about 10 or so duo Q in ruby. 5-6 matches were duo Q in diamond.
According to GW2 PVP.DE – which I have been using to track my progress in the season:

Okay so here is the build – I was using mostly and got into legendary and ripped up those diamond pips:

I found this was more interesting than what was out there on meta-battle and gave a bit more umph… especially with the corrosive poison cloud used on soul spiral (the poison is insane). Was also pretty handy ensuring downed people didnt res up too fast.
Anyways I put up a graph of my progress through the season- it shows our teams score.
There were even a few matches where we managed to score 0 points !!!
You can see it was a rough start at Amber – this part was rough.
I remember emerald Tier 2 was bad, so was sapphire T4 playing some crazy builds.
But as the season progressed you start to see more wins than losses.
For those of you that love stats – I encourage you to track all your matches on gw2pvp.de – as it allows you to do funky stuff like this with the data later on.
It took me 624 matches to reach legendary – cause I’m no pro – but I’ve learnt a lot and had some very long win streaks – especially in diamond (once I started to use the build I pinged above).
Just remember metabattle is not the be-all and end all, sometimes you have to tweak it a bit.

Looks like matchmaking is working.
It’s a 15 pip range up or down so.. You could be mid diamond, someone else nearly legendary – for your side.
The opposite side found a team in pip range – unfortunately the opposite team had some PvP Gods (eg Toker) on the opposite side – as they don’t play so many ranked matches and have not yet made it into legendary.
I’ve played with you – you know rotations play well and strong.
Had a match earlier today with someone vs ApEX Prime [APEX] – we only just clawed a win by about 50 points. They were a diamond rank mixed with some legendarys – we were a full diamond team,
Earlier in the day I also fought team PZ – lost 2 of them < 200 points nothing I could do to win the match. However I also had the same team PZ player on my side and we just about won 450v500.
Matchmaking is a bit screwy as I know you play well – I’m now 9 pips from legendary with a low win ratio for the season of 45.9%. I have also learnt a lot more this season than last season. My win ratio is screwed as I lost a lot of emerald games-but I’m probably just shy over 50% for my diamond games or just under since I modified my build slightly and play style.
Hang in there – you’ll make it.

Made it to T2 diamond twice back to start.. then boom – now I’m T4 diamond.
I think its cause the ESL Players are all gone playing the Pro Legue !!
We got to Matthais – had about 45 mins or so to play with him.
So far his mechanics don’t look so bad – it’ll be fine.
Also shows you are prepared to get ‘geared up’ ready for raiding.
Who would you rather take out of the following two pugs:

The VPN gives you no real advantage or modifies the game client in any way.
VPNs to redirect Internet traffic (or bypass) a bad route is AOK – if that’s all you are doing.
A tool that overlays range indicators, auto targeted players for you = bad.
And here in lies the problem – personal MMR (profession based) does not = team based MMR.
4 thiefs + 1 War (Above average MMR on individual classes/account)
VS
1 Necro, Ele, Engineer, Thief, War (Average MMR)
The Above average MMR team lost – 500v100.
The problem is the above average MMR team couldnt reroll alts – it didnt go well as a team comp. The above average MMR team loses MMR.

This is like the 4th match in 2 days where someone DCs and the entire solo q team get a -1 pip loss.
They sit in character select and come back or excuse a really long loading screen (where they may afk for however long they like) resulting in a -1 loss for the team.
In close match ups (which are more likely in diamond/ruby) a DC > 1 min can be a snowball effect. The 2 mins is way too long a timeout.
Whats worse the insta que for the next match and make the next team also fail as they have not sorted there stuff.
I’ve seen players be DC’d from the start join after the match has started after 1 min kitten and the entire team is already wiped and on a massive loosing streak.
Please look into the time a DC is away and the likelyhood that the team looses – you have the stats – so lets do it.
The time needs to be shortened.
If there internet or PC is kittened (yes I typed the kittened) – and they dont reconnect in 30s there is a massive issue.
Also give them DISHONOUR for the DC – the -1 PIP is not enough.
I dont want them to be insta queing again resulting in my next loss until they have fixed there stuff.
These players need to take a time-out and fix there PC/Internet or whatever it is that is making them a slow loader or disconnect.

This goes for Leeto/Java/Team PZ (Yes I’ve fought you in diamond and had some close losses).
I know you’re all bored up in legend as the que times are too kitten long – there has to be a better system than rofl stomping on everyone else whilst the others are trying to play.
I have seen some really stupid things in matches like playing sides at start of foefire- leaving a team to 3v4 with no sustain and the snowballs result from that.
All because it worked in certain team comps and they keep trying it – go hey look we are up by 2 caps – then everyone else wipes at mid..resulting in the enemy winning mid and can then rotate you left/right. It does depend on multiple things if this strat will work.
Resulting in a snowball 200 points down as a bad start strategy which could not be recovered – would you blame people who then AFK?
I wouldn’t – it’s extremely hard to then recover. Some people don’t understand why foefire centre is most important for example and how winning this and maintaining mid allows for a much easier match.
Some times it’s better to lose a match quicker and move on.
How could you tell the difference between an AFK and someone who then purposely runs in hits some skills and dies?
You can’t – and here in lies the issue.
If they punish the AFK – we would then just feed the enemy to lose faster right ? (As the feeder does not get banned).
The problem with the season as detailed out many times before there is no incentive to gain as many points as possible – it’s win or lose.
If we knew the chances of win/loss before the match and what score you need to get to improve your MMR:
Would this encourage you to play your best?
Right now MMR is calculated only on win/loss and not finished team score!
Now if MMR was calculated where your team did better than expected it goes up a little, worse than expected it goes down a little – this is a game changer.
Well I just had a 5 diamond vs 2 diamond + 3 ruby.
It was myself and a friend on the duo diamond side.
We win 500v473- we were carrying those Ruby’s hard.
We were both near t2 diamond – match was silent storm.
Some matches can be very interesting and it’s possible to carry hard with a friend.
The Ruby’s on our side were dying easily despite playing meta classes.
What about a match which is 450 v 100 – would you blame some for going AFK then?
WoW made the same choices – abandon dungeons (we have X-WOW Developers here guys !) – to build RAIDS.
Then guess what … WoW Started to cut-back on RAIDS: They apologised to there dungeon community for neglecting them. Then WoW started building dungeons again with every release.
So its funny how things come full-circle.
I expect the same thing to happen here – its the circle of MMOs.
You cant carry ‘any’ team.
If its always 4v5 – and someone just sits AFK or bunks home 24×7 in a match – the other 4 gods vs 5 gods will win.
Its plain facts.

Once players are ‘logged in’ – it doesnt matter.
Its funny as you’re already logged into whichever data centre you registered on – regardless of which server you play on.
EU Players on NA Servers – still have the EU Server as there login server.
The opposite is also true for NA.
This would be the best – to play EU + US Servers together.
The sync issues is mostly for loots – let them back-sync.
IF there was a map where it was ‘international’ for open world – the latency of update for the individual player would go to either server. TBH there is not that much latency from US <→ EU to make it happen (you are looking at 120ms max) for syncronous replication.
WvW – can stay EU/US Split – makes sense.
PVP – can stay EU/US Split makes sense unless you choose ‘international’ for a map instance – get placed randomly on EU or US Servers so your latency would be higher but thats a price worth paying.
The question is what needs to be sycronised – its only loot – this is not that much information – that can still be sent to US or EU Servers and kept seperate.
Funny thing there are still pieces of dialog/NPCs inside fractals.
Dungeons > Fractals any day of the week.
The gating / instabilities/ repetitive nature of FOTM and oh mobs hit harder as you go up is meh. I prefer the dungeons and always have.
They abandoned dungeons way too early in the game as people will still getting to grips with open world and were not ready for them. Now people need them to learn there class and try things out – and they nerfed them to hell with the rewards resulting in many players quitting.
We have proven time and time again that unskilled farming methods such as mineral farming / Silverwastes chest farm has been netting more gold/HR for the last year compared to any skilled system: fractals, dungeons, raids.
ANET seem to want us doing unskilled mindless farming for our gold.
On average each cracked fractal box is with .60-70s- if you buy the key/box it’s not worth it as most of the items inside are now worthless.
This is why fotm gives you a limited amount of gold for your 1 HR- if you do all the swamps/Daliys it’s about 10g for your HR.
It’s possible to teach how to get gold and show all the short cuts and learn it sub 1 HR.
Looking at an individual rather than the wide economy – pre HOT liquid gold was much easier to earn than after HoT,
Therefore to the individual it is becoming a scarcer item- although it may be being distributed out to more people (smaller amounts).
An individual’s purchasing power is what’s important in the grand scheme of things.
This has decreased if they personally are earning less gold overall and static cost items remain the same (commander pins etc).
So a quick summary:
Liquid Gold income has been reduced from many sources including Dungeons (which may get raised). It is now harder to earn liquid gold – it is becoming a rarer commodity.
From the TLDR – this we all seem to be agreeing on (from the first post).
I am talking about individual liquid gold rather than across the whole economy.
It takes 40 events to get the 10 shiney baubels – doing 40 events takes significant time to get this return. You will certainly not be getting 3g/hr just doing events in liquid gold.
The map rewards are already scripted and known what the results are.
We are aware how much the shiney baubels are worth – and it has been noted already in the thread.
It takes many events to get these – and the amount of liquid gold/hr is still very low compared to other sources.

I think its fair to say with rates this low and drops like this the amount this contributes to a gold/hr in liquid gold rewards is minimal.

Liquid gold from junk items worth 1copper x10 = Neligable as this drops from events.
Actually there is more mechanics in dungeons than fractals or raids.
Raids are very static, scripted and will be easier than dungeons.
If you look at CM P1 – there are 3 unique bosses with 3 unique sets of mechanics.
In fractals – its trash, trash mobs then boss.
