To be honest it was probably TC placing second last week that caused SoR to get kinda peeved off, as seen by guilds like Choo that tried to 2v1 us BG bl from the start of reset. Neither JQ or SoR have the EU population to compete in total numbers to ZDs, let alone all of the militia that follow them and the numerous other EU guilds on BG so people seem to be pushing less hard as they could, because whatever they do doesn’t really matter. The “agreed” upon 2v1 was a myth for the most part, although I did have one SoR commander approach me but we agreed to play naturally without formal 2v1.

I’m not demeaning BGs EU efforts, as they run very tight and are skilled as hell – but its hard not to acknowledge the lack of forces matched up with them on other servers.

We can agree that no JQ EU guild have the numbers to stand up alone to ZDs, but IRON did have the numbers when they were on SoR.

Also your comment about "let alone all of the militia that follow them and the numerous other EU guilds on BG " is wrong and you know it. Both HB and Coin run untagged and ask the militia to leave them alone. Only RK runs tagged.

We have welcomed the fights from JQ this week, and even though we miss IRON, its still nice to have SoR back as well.

Last I just want to remind you that before ZDs joined BG in week 2, we had a max of 2 queued maps ( BG and EB ) at the start of EU prime every kitten night including saturday in week 1. That was ( one of ) the weeks where you had 2-3 hour queues in the same timezone. So your comment about coverage in EU prime doesnt really add up unless you lost alot of EU players that I havent heard about ?

Yeah I’m aware of the pop pre zds as I took the militia when you wanted to run unpinned and I ran the militia preleagues also on jq. Just speaking from experience here, in those first weeks of leagues we had a lot of na militia that would log in early and were unused to WvW so we had queues on two maps (jq and eb). We didnt lose eu, its just that people started playing as usual again.

I really think all these buying/paying guilds talk is unproductive.
ANET places no restrictions on buying/paying guilds.
These are creations of the server communities themselves.
If BG/JQ feel that the money spent on that is fine, that is their prerogative. Don’t like it? Why not sit down and think about whether it might be worth doing some organization and creating a war chest like they do.

Alternatively, you can PAY your guilds to destack if you to balance that badly. Its all a matter of supply and demand. Party A can complain this sucks cause it’s stacking, PvD or whatever they want to call it, but the bottom line is party A has as much right to complain as party B who was paid to transfer because all of them paid for the game and are free to do what is in it w/o breaching the terms.

Yes, it sucks, but that is how it all works. Money talks and bullkitten walks.

You want to have more fights? Sure, loosen the obsession on PPT and it will help promote timezone destacking. I suggest taking a look at Piken Square which is well know for being a server that is extremely fight oriented and unconcerned about PPT. PPT players and Open field/skirmish players co-exist on the server although the latter are the majority. The server still performs really well despite not being able to beat Viz. Open field guilds assist their ppt players by engaging enemies which allows PPT guilds with the expertise to do what they do best. Both parties are happy.

These complains about coverage and stacking will never end if the culture and mindset of ppt obsession is not changed

Changing ppt won’t magically cause server destacking, as people rarely care about fair fights – more about winning fights by any means. Could just me being cynical about NA server politics but hey.

People like to cry about coverage, or whine about buying, but here is the thing, as a server BG seems to be the most solid.
Almost every player they have is actively trying to help the server. Whether that means, running with the pin, capping ruins with other allies, or scouting towers.
It prob also helps that they seem to have a low pug population. (By PuG I mean non-wvw guilded players, not in TS) Almost every player you see, is a member of a known wvw guild. Sure there are the exceptions, but that is a big deal.

But that’s exactly what having coverage or buying guild means.. For example, if SOR paid for a few guild from EU to transfer over and also pay for a few guilds from TC/JQ/SOS/MAG to come over and now can field multiple wvw guilds in every time zone, then essentially what this will do is what you’re describing BG has right now – which is a high population of “wvw players in well known wvw guilds who are in TS, running with pin, capping ruins, and scouting.”

By buying guilds, would you mean Jade Quarry paying ATM to stay on JQ?

Or buying MERC who were already on another tier 1 server?

Or buying 3 EU guilds for leagues?

Jade Quarry has no moral footing to stand on. They had the easiest draw, they spent 20,000 gold buying guilds before the season, and they still failed.

Jade Quarry has the coverage to match Blackgate. In the easy matchups, their maps were queued throughout the day, but they chose not to show up when it mattered.

Perhaps next season, Jade Quarry’s gold would be better spent on buying some server pride….

Name them, and secondly the maps were rarely queued in EU during week 2-5 with the exception of weekends where NA militia were active; hell we don’t even get EB queues in EU. If you spent less time on the forums and actually asked people what the deal was in-game you would probably get more reliable information, but whatever.

Thanks for the fights this last week, seeing tc coming out so strong was in all honesty pretty surprising but SoRs slow start to the week can probably attributed the game that shall not be named. No doubt SoR will come out guns blazing next week. Good luck for your next matchups SoR and tc.

The biggest single cause of server imbalance is coverage. Servers with large SEA populations simply have a huge advantage over those that don’t. I in no way blame SEA players for the problem but it does suck. In theory if SEA populations were even close to equally spread amongst servers then there wouldn’t be a problem. For what ever reason they don’t seem to be which is somewhat perplexing to me. On one hand I can see where players would want to congregate to servers with more players on in their timezone……but on the other you would think they might want a sense of competition and not just PVD all the time? I’m not sure, maybe massive zerging with minimal resistance 90% of the time is an appealing play style for SEA players? Maybe they could all go play on the China servers in the future?

Hardcore WvW guilds won’t go to those servers as it’ll be less competition and less fights.

Its the equivalent of a SEA player complaining that ppt is gained when they are are at work during NA prime, just because you live in NA doesn’t mean that your sense of self-entitlement should screw over all but your own timezone.

Congrats on the win BG, the fights early on the week were ND made up for the lack of the fights in the last three weeks where they fought with relatively even numbers a lot of the time. That destroyer+well-bomb comp is pretty tough to work around, but everyone had a blast.

Even though fighting bgs zone blobs on all maps the with the same 25 people on 3maps, at least we’re getting fights – it would’ve been horribly boring to stay on an overstacked server with no competition.

I’m sorry, but aren’t you part of that same “MERC” group who transferred to JQ right before Season started because you were tired of pulling overtime, and you felt that BG’s coverage just wasn’t competitive enough to keep up with JQ & SoR? I can, of course, copy & paste Ralihk’s post in which he says exactly that, before going on to describe “the situation in WvW during SEA” as “dire for over a month with a massive lack of players compared to SoR and JQ”, right before he went on the explain that moving to JQ was all about winning Leagues. Now you’re complaining that BG is “overstacked” in your timezone? And even going so far as to say that you left to avoid being horribly bored “to stay on an overstacked server with no competition”?

Just… wow.

To settle a few things straight, I am an oceanic commander as in my primetime is in GMT+10 (Brisbane, primetime starts at midnight PST which is four hours before SEA starts); during oceanic primetime after lorthos quit and SoR was unable to field their large oceanic zergs we would often as not get a ridiculous ppt into the 460+ range. JQ was largely a non-factor at that time due to its lack of oceanic guilds (0000-0400 PST) where the meta was to PvD JQs assets before SoR did it first. Oceanic is the first timezone to die in world PvP games, as it did in Warhammer before GW2 – and I’d say that competitive oceanic T1 WvW died with lorthos quitting.

Where things fell apart on BG before we left was in SEA; whereupon ND was in a state of disarray due to dia being hacked, WM being in training, Thai/LP playing EU and TMD showing up sporadically – when we were all on we were comparable in coverage to JQs SEA. But often as not for about a month we’d be the solo pin on 3-4 maps, and we were legitimately stressed – little did we know that the SEA guys would show up for leagues; but by then we had lost half our active member base to burnout.

I wasn’t “complaining” about JQ having less numbers, just acknowledging that with overtime from the NA and SEA OT in BG at the moment it was hard to maintain ground GMT+10 prime. I found the comment about “playing dead” kinda offensive because it discredits the guys who do log in to fight – and did so persistently against greater numbers (In both EU and OC).

Also, don’t take everything in that BG forums post as gospel as I was misquoted by Ralikh in it and his statements regarding my opinions are not my actual stances – and choc had me permabanned before I could say otherwise (something about stealing KnT or OnS members which was shown to be a bunch of horse kitten ). In response to Kins comment, I never did that to BGs NA, some guildees did but a majority appreciated the effort you guys put in – including myself. Keep that in perspective before you start talking crap thanks.

The night finished for me when we took hills on bgbl from JQ from merc. Insane fight! love the competition everyone and noone should be salty or trying to make up excuses about anything, win or lose this has been crazy fun!

I just cant wait for this pve crap to leave wvw and for the pve only ppl who dont care to get into ts and follow orders or even speak in /say /team /shout, just run around mindlessly doing the meta…

Clarifying is not being mad, I personally don’t give much weight to the current situation because I play for the challenge – getting our kitten kicked in by zone blobs in our weakest time is still better than the t2 hell we’ve been in the last month. We got some good fights with ZDs and ND last night where we wiped them just as often as they did us and thats all I really care about in the game, the eventual outcome of the match-up is secondary to doing your best – if its not enough thats fine.

Ahh, the temptation to interpret history to suit your own biases.

1. Every server knows that they bought the guild (ZD) to be on and to be the strongest server during every NA servers (especially SoR and JQ) weakest timezone to sway league their way.

<shrug> While ZDs move to BG has been covered in a large number of threads before, the pertinent point is that JQ have done exactly what you’re accusing BG of. JQ paid MERC’s leadership to move from BG to JQ – a double whammy because JQ were strengthening their PPT while denuding that of their competition (there’s a distinction here with ZDs’ move that should be understood). The PPT results can be seen in the mos results for W41.

Did you not play oceanic at all on BG and see how many guilds played on JQ at that time? They had none as TKG is technically SEA from the hours that they play (~8pm oceanic). BG recruited more oceanic to counter SoRs OC, which was composed of late NA nightowls, HIRE (who could run a queue zerg themselves) and OCX/TSYM/GC/early SEA. Back then it was justified, now it is not – with OCX going more to the PvE spectrum of PvX and HIRE reforming; us moving meant that we were no longer getting 450+ ppt in oceanic which wasn’t fun for us at all. I get that you’re kitten ed that we moved, but seriously if we wanted to PvE we’d all be playing hello kitty online.

The week before leagues was kinda irrelevant considering it was admitted by a lot of commanders from BG via tells and on this forums that they were taking a break that week. Also in regards to the leadership being paid, well thats kinda misleading; we were given 40-50 gold per core member after after we transferred from our own funds (~110 gold). Moving was because we were dying on server, and I’ve told you this multiple times but you keep on whipping an imaginary dead horse over and over again.

I give ZDs props for being solid on field, but our sitations are not comparable – more similar to legends never [DIE] where thier main motivator was being able to play the freaking game as a guild. Where we differ is that we might not have had a guild much longer if we had stayed.

GW2 is Build Wars 2. 90% of the time the player with the better(cheesier?) build will win. It’s useless in arguing who is better unless you both run the same class and the same build. I still have my troll thief build which has only failed twice in a 1v1 and always comes out on top.

Spam 1? I have all my 10 skills used depends on the situation, commander’s position, even dodge have to dodge wisely. You don’t understand why are we doing this. It’s okay, You train yourself to be a hero-like player but some of us love to play as a team and community and that’s why we’re in T1 again. This game is not about you or the solo player. We paid for the game, we have the right to choose what mode to play and it is not in your concern that whether we spam 1 or not.

You’re lying to yourself if you think there isn’t debilitating skill lag in megazorg vs megazorg. We did SoR vs BG vs Mag in SoR’s garrison this weekend, and we had to sit tight until one of you wiped before we could move just so we could use buttons again. That’s not fun. Generally once BG was dead the game could resume.

The teamplay curve levels off at some point when you have 40+ people with a mark over one guy’s head and you’re effectively just playing simon says with empowers, blasts, and stab.

The teamplay exists just as much or moreso all the way down to 2v2. The only reason someone would prefer huge blobs is the safety of group blame sharing. I encourage you to try lower numbers, where when you lose, your list of reasons has your own name at the top.

Nothing much I can say except get a better rig. I had 0 skill lag for the past two weeks in the matchup with SOR.

It takes 220 people to generate skill lag.

80 people per server in one BL.

Do the math.

Even if you have 5 people on a bl there is server lag, its the nature of latency – may be small but there is latency. More server strain = more lag, which means more people using skills means more lag. Sure you have enough lag to make you want to throw your keyboard out the window when there is 220, but to say that lag only happens at that point is just wrong.

I look at SoR/BG/Mag thread. Then I see our’s. They already have over 700 posts of complaining. Almost all of this is chivalrous manner. I love it. Why can’t every match-up thread be like this?

T1 servers have been fighting each-other for a long time, so there is a legit rivalry between them – get two in a matchup and that’s when stuff gets nasty as all hell. Theres no real reason for venom between SoS/JQ/TC so its pretty melo outside of the obvious animosity between JQ/SoS regarding transfers (but SoS rarely touches the forums, which cuts a lot of the crap out).
