Im keen to see how the new patch will effect the meta, good luck tonight everyone
Basically it’ll be an arrow-cart driven meta I think, more open field siege and objectives will be far more stable if there are players to defend it using seige. The boon hate trait for the warrior looks to have promise, and I’ll be trying to theorycraft some builds around it, however I think its just a bit gimicky. Glamor bombs will still be viable due to the AoE blind, but the nerf to confusion damage will definitely pull things back a bit.
Will be good to see
What surprised me last night than anything else Fannwong last night was that all of SoR was centralised on SoR bl, and content to fight 30 guys (who stayed on that map for the very reason that even if we were overwhelmed in terms of numbers, that if you stay on one map we can take the rest of SoR’s ground with the other oceanics who log in). This is not trolling, but I’ve always been curious why SoR runs a full map float in oceanic, because we stopped doing that a while ago for the reasons that is hurting your current ppt.
That is that once you zerg a map to oblivion, you leave all of the rest of your assests completely undefended and often without defensive seige, and if we hit garrison when you are on another map, you can’t do it in halves as it seems to be an all-or nothing tactic.
A SoR commander who used to be on SoS with us PM’ed me last night to ask if I was commanding when the who lake thing happened, and their response is that they weren’t in it for the ppt, which is at odds with a lot of the NA staying up late (I often see a lot of TW and Choo hanging around in the OCX/HIRE blob, and yes I understand they are not technically the full force, just nightowls).
A lot of respect for some of the guys in SoR (a little less for one certain commander who I butted heads with when I was on SoR previously), but I can’t see how you think the fights are fun if you are literally sitting in a massive blob all the time and not achieving a whole lot. Regardless, we’ll you guys on the field.
tl;dr version: Running in a massive blob won’t win you the match
(edited by Tarkus.4109)
I thought interns were only there to get coffee and bagels?
@ Thiagoperne, we know thats not going to happen lol
Also I have to note that running a zerk warrior frontliner is dumb, as you’re just going to rally the other side when you melt to AoE. Sure you’re getting good burst, but you can’t dps when you’re dead. Leave full zerk for CoF please
If you are sick of projectile spam move to a higher tier server, as in T1NA the most common fights are between guilds who run heavy trains. There are a few guilds who do use ranged very effectively (i.e. TW ele-nec cluster kitten), but guilds such as MERC, KnT, FoO, Choo and WM run CC trains that are melee based
Stuck at uni/work, can I please get a score update?
Great night tonight, its great to see a new FoO commander stepping up and Q/SoR engaging in open field during SEA prime. Props to ND and urge for covering our kitten when we did crazy stuff, and we’ll see you guys out on the field tomorrow night.
Its not SEA prime yet
LOL BG,Thai Merc and almost every other WvW guild in JQBL………..Zerg much?
Every BL is lagging, because of it,true story.
You know nothing Jon snow….
Welcome to what JQ and SoR do every night when they try and take garrison in SEA lol.
how you can do this Bg ?
I dunno JQ, you tell me.
Yeah Renny, another guy hacked up the wall about ten minutes later after that right in front of us and portalled around about 10 guys in, about 3 jumped out straight away and the other seven…. well their spikes will go on without them. Most likely it was just one loose cannon, and they got shut down by thier own team, keep it classy guys. P
(edited by Tarkus.4109)
if what you said is true, JQ won’t be able to compete with other T1 servers unless it suddenly have a massive NA guild to join them.
i really hope what you said is just a rumor.
No waha did not quit. I just saw him and FOO today flip 2 BL’s today
Really, man I thought it was his warrior lookalike – we like to call him Faha, as in “Fake waha”. A bit like a bizarro-world version of Waha, but regardless its been a good night and gg JQ.
Can someone explain this to me?
(please wait for all the SS’s, there will be 6+)I saw this mesmer yesterday in EB JP, same server, same guild tag [DIE], same armor. We killed him a few times in JP (3rd floor, next to chest) and he was back in like 30sec. He is either using some terrain/fly/speed hack or other mesmer to port (which is really unlikely)
Send me a private message and i’ll deal with the guy if you have his account number, as darkness is everywhere does not have an organised presence in WvW any longer. I am still an officer in DiE, so I’d prefer if the guilds name wasnt tarnished by one loose Canon.
Thanks
SoV is on SoR.
I think you’re confusing us with SoX.
Probably am, I am generally bad with posting before coffee
If you’re set on T1 and want a stable world, I’d suggest picking between JQ and SoR, depending on how much of a challenge you enjoy.
Honestly though, if you’re concerned about queue times, I’d give T1 a very wide berth. 30 minutes can be nothing during primetimes. You really only need to look at a few different topics with people complaining about the odd 2-3 hour queue or longer for WvW to know that if you aren’t particularly queue-tolerant, T1 probably isn’t for you.
My personal opinion is also that WvW outside of T1 is definitely a far more enjoyable experience. There are too many people obsessed with winning or just happy to be huge trolls. In all honesty, I’d stick it out with FA for a few more weeks and see how it goes.
All three T1 servers are very stable and anyone who says otherwise has some obvious bias going on.
SoV is on SoR. (edit: I stuffed up here, not actually correct)
In regards to the OP without overwhelming bias, all three servers in T1v are relativvely stable – with a core crew that keeps all three servers afloat. JQ has far more numbers because of what happened at the end of free transfers, and due to the rep for winning attracted a lot more members from lower tiers and continued doing this due to people wanting to be green in T1.
I say this without venom, because to be honest this is what happened when I was on HoD (you often can’t blame this happening once a server gains momentum). T1 is highly competitive, and in that environment there are more players who try to stir the drama due to the true rivalries that do occur. SoR and BG have a solid community in SEA, as does JQ however if you are after a relatively balanced fight I would recommend a T2 server (KN, TC and FA all being solid servers with great communities)
Anyway, take this advice with a grain of salt as I am currently on BG and no-one can escape bias

Nox Vanguard [NoX] is a hardcore oceanic/SEA PvP guild, meaning that we are and plan to be recruiting PvP’ers of all stripes be them sPvP’ers or world vs worldians (as sPvP’ers usually know their class better than most, meaning that they are an asset to whatever community they are in). We are admittedly small now, but plan on growing over time as we gain a reputation for always being there and generally being a kitten to the other two factions in the realm war.
What we are looking for:
- Solid PvP’ers of all classes
- Those who wish to learn about the mechanics of WvW, no need to be an elitist kitten if it can be avoided
- Lots of Necros and elementalists
- Those looking for solid, mature and community that can play the game to an A-grade level; but then realise that its a game and we do this for the fun
What we can offer:
- A solid community
- No more spam in guild chat, “Fire elemental in 3 min, OMG overflow”
- High performance PvP, in both tPvP and WvW
- We’ll be training new commanders all the time, and giving them a chance to command on a regular basis.
- Training those who are thinking of getting into WvW, and wanting to know the tactics and strategy
What is expected:
-Representation with us, if you chose to join
- Don’t be a *, its fine to think you’re funny but if you trash someone openly you won’t have a place here
- TS3, our commanders are vocal people – if you can’t hear them how would you know what is in store and engage with the community?
- Being in WvW when there is a CTA; Out commanders will usually start between 1730-1800 GMT+10[
- Openness to trying out guild builds and tactics
Finally although we are not starting out as a mega-zerg guild, we plan on making our mark by working with militia and the blackgate community and we would be pleased for you guys to join us in the mists.
Contact Tarkus or Echelon ingame for an invite, or alternatively use this webpage and fill out an app: http://noxvanguard.enjin.com

We currently have 25 members, in-guild and are growing by the day. See you in-game
A quick score update; good fights tonight with FoO – nice work AoI and KnT for securing our wp’s
(edited by Tarkus.4109)
I’m from Blackgate, and the way that smaller guilds are kinda looked down on here, it’s made me want to move. However, all the medium population servers are European, so what do I do? Any recommendations?I’d really love to feel like I and my guild belong in WvW somewhere.
What guilds are looking down on others? Send me a tell in-game so I can get in contact with the GM’s, because to be honest small guilds are essential to the success of the server. Anyways if you do chose to move I’d recommend ET because they need the numbers all round, and good luck
A guy in my old guild invited his 5 year old to play on his account for a little bit and found out the next day that the kid had been solo-roaming his thief in EB. The kid got 78 badges and a precursor, so whenever I imagine a solo thief running around I’ll always think of that little trooper. Although the idea that he can barely spell his own name but yet can kill you with a thief combo makes me worry about the kid.

I’m sure MERC can handle themselves. When they went hard last week and ticked 500+ PPT during their primetime
No culling fix last week just sayin
Believe me the 45 man JQ zergs on all maps in SEA culled as well. Plus a lot of our commanders have RL stuff going on right now, so were largely MIA all week. Not using it as an excuse, but just as an explanation at the sudden drop off. Plus, it woul be nice to fight JQ on open field for once because the only guild that does that is FoO. All of the rest of the guild will only engage you if they run in a much larger zerg than yours and I just find it hilarious that we would full cap BG bl with the exception of hills and the entire non-outmanned JQ force would sit in hills waiting for a chance to PvD because you don’t join JQ for the PvP.
JQ cannot argue from the standpoint of having lack of numbers, the only issue is that all of the engagements we’ve had ended in JQ running. Must be fun to spend your entire night sitting on a battlement spamming 1 right?
Mega zerg + Narrow corridor + Arrowcarts, and line denial (Guardian trio + Necros + Fear me + Tornado in the choke) = Defense of ppt and a literal kittenload of wXP
^haha. Merc is FoO’s bff
To be honest I would’ve quit GW2 a long time ago if it wasn’t for FoO, they are at least fun to fight in open field and to be honest I’m only really in it for the fights. Admidedly when we’re down on numbers and have low support we do wipe a lot to FoO + DC +PuGs etc, but that is more an indication of numbers over skill. FoO is a very skilled opponent and when we have equal forces I would say that the fights are relatively even (relatively). <3 FoO, keep trucking we just get better and try to be better every night.

Don’t mind Stei, your reply right now is raising his trollometer to a higher level. The fact that you just acknowledged him trolling your guild just gave him a +1.
Yeah I know, but at least now I know what his character model looks like in-game so we can express openly what we think of forum warriors/trolls. Especailly when we’re being scouted by him lol. Anyway, it was fun fighting SF + DC at bay but honestly after the following fight at woodhaven I needed to log – just to kitten late. Nice use of arrowcarts though, probably could be more effective with leg specialist. See you next time.
Hint MERC veil does not have the desired effect anymore you might want to stop using it when you push out portals. Just some advice.
Oh man I hadn’t realised that, how stupid I thought that going through a veil cloaked you for 4 seconds and while you were doing that you could feign a push, misdirect which way you are actually going or feigning a retreat. I hadn’t realised that the patch that we had been anticipating for a while had actually come and the reason why we use veils is actually tactically sound.
Shock horror there is actually a use for veils outside of abusing culling, we will cry into our pillows at how silly we are. But seriously, think about what you type before you type it or you just sound ill-informed. You need those kinda tactics when you are facing a map-capped enemy when you aren’t pop capped.
Strangely there is tactics in this game other than running into towers and keeps at the first sign of red, who’d have thunk it.
btw, I am using sarcasm to emphasise that your post was stupid. Hope you caught that and if not, vishnu save us all.

Ohh. Trolls & haters are starting to come to this thread. I am indeed very surprised.
However, we are extremely THANKFUL for the insights and advices you have provided us. Rest assured we will take every single insights and advices into our consideration. Thank you very much.

Trolls are gonna troll and there are always going to be server promoters making up bull-kitten to serve thier own interests. Good luck to AFS and I hope you fit in well wherever you go – we had a blast on SoS and hope to see you in WvW again even if it happens to be another server. Lots of respect for you guys.
Nothing wrong with a PVT staff ele Oyjord, try it out – you might be suprised. Karps plays one and kitten he hardly dies ever, even when with the commander tag on. You can still be useful and do a lot of damage with tank builds, its not like my warrior that if you run full PVT with hammer say goodbye to DPS – eles are pretty effective at what they do.
(edited by Tarkus.4109)
Ranger and engineers are not all that useful in zerg fights (however the entangle is pretty kitten sexy to be honest when running a CC train), however if you are after a ranged class I would recommend an elementalist that uses staff. Elementalist does have a high damage AoE output from significant range but it does pay to have good reflexes.
Eles’s are probably one of the most useful classes in WvW, followed by warriors, necros and mesmers. Where they drop down a load of fields that can be used for mass buffing and mass CC’ing the opposition – guilds like TW do this really well because they run a lot of ele’s and so whenver we come up against them we have to use all of our stability so our heavies don’t get melted instantly.
I used to main ranger, its not all that good in WvW – great in sPvP and PvE though, so it really depends if you are going to go for WvW hardcore or be more PvX.
Nice ss fuzz.
Is Merc really crying about a 2v1?
Nah, its more of a comment on how the match-up is going. BG has paper/T2 structures and a lower population all round (except for GMT+10), so its going to be an obvious target for SoR and JQ. Even if its effing hard, the challenge is the best part of the game. Why would you tag up in an map with 30 guys (i.e. thats all we run with a lot of the time, so the 50+ mark is kinda off), and still be outmanned if not to enjoy the challenge. We’ve taken down larger forces than us nightly, and are updating tactics per the night but the ppt is not due to a lack of motivation but a lack of coverage in most parts.
Anyway, good fights with HIRE + et al last night and thanks for the 15 minute open skirmish in front of ANZ. I got 2 exotics out of that, and 68 badges because you guys just kept respawning with equal or greater numbers than us and we ended up losing the attrition game after fighting what seemed to be at least 4-5 waves of the 30 man HIRE team and 10 man OCX + PuG. At least SoR won’t run into their towers and keeps at the first sign of a fight like a certain other server in the matchup (although the ANZ fight was a bit like that but still, props for the skirmish).
(edited by Tarkus.4109)
No offense noodles, but the last thing that JQ needs in more SEA
Use chokes, line of sight and flanking amnuvers that take larger forces by suprise. i.e. we were able to wipe a SoR zerg of ~ 50 players with 35 due to not standing in the SoR deathpit and keeping them CC’ed into ours.
No, again I am not having difficulty getting loot bags or anything. Quantity is not my concern, I was asking about quality. Loot quality is so low compared to pve to the point where getting a green for me feels like how often i get a rare in PvE.\
But I suppose it could be due to badges we get. I get tons of those.
Fair enough, WTB Fractal drops in WvW. Nah it wouldn’t happen considering that fractals are instanced and are designed to have a certain amount of objectives in a linear path. WvW is more freeform than that so I guess that it would probably screw with the economy if there was a sudden influx of blues/greens + t6 drops from WvW.
Meh, people came to t1 for the competition and queues are the sign of a healthy server. However I don’t feel too upset for JQ considering the 20 or so WvW guilds that transferred just before free transfers were up – their queue times will be legendary and I hope that SoR/BG/KN (if they make it to T1) will be able to use this for their advantage.
There is a very good reason why FoO doesn’t go on EB and that is queues – hell MERC sometimes doesn’t go into EB sometimes if we get enough guildees on. But I welcome the changes and hope more people get back to the game; the mode is fun as hell (albeit for the occasional PvD session.. blah) however it’ll now be nice to have further incentives/rewards to play it
Meh we literally have to empty our bags out at least 2 to three times per night, if you are having difficulty getting loot find a better group. But yeah, I wouldn’t say the drop rate of exotics and rares is insanely high although I see getting in-game gold for playing PvP is a bonus. Although nobody can beat Renny’s 5 stacks of spikes.
Don’t be a kitten to your own team-mates when they obviously trying and are fighting against equal or superior numbers (tbh, the SoR super zerg in oceanic would be equal to a lot more than BG’s squad of ~39-45).
Not to sound disrespectful to our NA, but the NA forum warriors of all servers like to bash on the oceanics because they don’t play at the same time and even if the fights are relatively balanced any progress will be attributed to PvD – look back at the outcry near launch. We get used to it, we don’t care – fighting HIRE/all of SoR and the FoO zerg is what what I find interesting in the game and hopefully after the patch you’ll see more guys return to the game.
Forum trolls are going to be forum trolls, so a lot of just play the game even when all SoR oceanic decide to run ikittenerg with members of TW and Choo who stayed up during the night. I don’t mind the fights because playing against overwhelming forces and still taking objectives, holding them and occasionally wiping a zerg that is almost double your size due to use of terrain is why I still play the game and why I didn’t rage-quit last night.
I see that some guys are talking kitten, its understandable SoR not so much capitalised on reduced numbers but is just doing smart play in focusing second seed. You have to keep in mind that last night we had 23 guildees in WvW last night + 8 or so malitia against:
Choo – 15-20
HIRE – 20
OCX – 10-15
TW – 5 or so
Others: 10-15
All running around as a unit with a single commander, but seeing as we still had some good fights; fighting SoR in outer hills after they bought ghost tonics (caught you guys in a choke and by surprise), fighting them in garrison where they charged a 50 odd feet on the battlements through all of our CC and necro wells (I love these guys), and when we made a push with a CC/blowout train.
Meh, the fights were fun and crazy kitten was done. Even though the score didn’t really reflect the amount of effort my guys were putting in, we were chucked into a kittenty situation under poor odds and managed to get a good fight. I can be happy enough about that at least, thanks guys for holding on.
(edited by Tarkus.4109)
Fights in the oceanic prime-time against SoR were awesome last night, although after a little incident we had a little bit of spontaneous RP….
When we were taking back briar on our home borderlands, a certain individual entered my party – normally if the name of the guy is obviously someone from SoR or JQ I’d immediately kick them from the party. Well last night I made an exception since this guy was using a Jack-a-lope tonic that you get in PvE – once we flipped SoR’s tower we begun the hunt for the legendary jackalope. We proceeded to chase the d/d ele who was using the tonic across the map all the way to the lake tower where we caught him and surprise surprise the HIRE zerg appeared at the doorstep to try and wipe us with equal numbers to ours .
The whole incident was freaking hilarious. I’m not even mad, just knock it off.

http://i.imgur.com/J7Rbdkx.jpg
btw HIRE, I’d be up for GvG but you gotta keep in mind that it’ll be hard to schedule seeing as we have to hold our own in our prime-time when Choo is not doing 30 hour shifts.
Leading a mostly PuG zerg off a cliff when I had a lag spike and the guys followed me over, it turns out not everyone uses fall damage reduction
All in all, the fights this week have been pretty great in late oceanic/early SEA fighting the HIRE+OCX squad, and FoO+JQ PuGs where early in the week we had some seriously epic fights (especially on monday) with these two. Fighting FoO is always a welcome challenge and opposed to what some forum warriors say, when FoO appears on the map we actively seek them out because we know it’ll be a good fight win or lose.
I do agree that SoR did get double teamed at the end of the matchup, but if you are playing for ppt do you actively bash your head against an enemy for a couple of hours and gain only a few objectives? Or do you target the vulnerable faction, because if we don’t take SoR’s stuff at this window it’ll only just be capped by JQ. Nothing personal.
Also as a FYI, on a normal night we get 30-40 guildees in WvW – we just have good scouts and know where TKG is going to do their inevitable 2 golum rush on south gate of BG hills (please change your tactics, you’re getting predictable)
Oh simple MERC. You do realise TKG have scouts on you and flip BG hills for the tick? You can have it back after that
lol, that is if they can get through the paper gates w/ 2 golums in time to stop us rushing you. Btw props to the thief who basically spends his entire night tapping garrison, it has to be boring but hey you’ve gotta admire his persistence. Seriously you guys did 7 golum rushes on the keep on monday, we stopped 6 of them (one of which we got stuck in outer and basically capped it for the next tick) and in 5 of them we took out your golems – you must have a kitten-load right?

Sorry to see you go man, good luck.
I’ve experimented with this in the past, and MF didn’t seem to work all that much. The easiest way of getting more badges is to do more damage; that is, to kill more or at least damage suffiently other players. You’re better working with curry butternut soup (precision and crit damage) than ommnomberry bars in my opinion.
I don’t think anyone who works their kitten off in WvW underestimates the importance of the large organised guilds on the server (i.e. Tsym, Agg, Atac, MERC etc), the thing is that they form the backbone of the effort. While these guilds are the core driving force, you can’t just dismiss the efforts of the malitia or smaller guilds on the server.
We have one awesome malitia force (not up to the TA/HoD standard) but are a force in their own right. Egos removed from this great work on all sides, and its sad to see SBI drop out from lack of coverage, because all three servers have proven that they deserve to be in tier 1. Forum warriors are going to be forum warriors, but at the end of the day putting in the effort in a highly organised way wins you T1, not comparing the size of your kitten.
Is DiE on sos? HoD > BG > SoS? Bandwagon guild. Nothing wrong with that, perhaps our medium sized guild will move to SoS too (replace with current top server), see you there.
With that kinda attitude you sure as hell won’t be welcome from us, I think your view of what a bandwagon guild is kinda warped. A bandwagon guild only joins a top tier server when it is at its peak (i.e. T1) for the reasons that it needs assistance to do anything (i.e. weak PvP skill etc.). Firstly we left HoD because all of TA moved and simply WvW was dead on that server, Blackgate was recruiting for oceanics within T2 and we figured that it seemed like a solid community.
When we got to Blackgate we had zero support from the Oceanic population of BG when we were T2, we were literally the only BG guys on the map except from a couple of small Oceanic guilds that hung around EB (as well as americans who didn’t sleep). When we were on blackgate it seemed to be very similar to ET in its prime, where it was highly active and focused in T2 but it suddenly all became too hard in T1. We were sent an invitation to move to SoS by PRX, and to rejoin our old server mates; SoS was in Tier 2 at the time.
It was a question of should we stay and let the guild die from attrition or move and keep the guild alive because the BG community was slowly killing morale and we started losing members. We have never joined a T1 server or moved out of convenience but out of necessity, and therefore are not bandwagoners. Keep your kitten to yourself.

Bah humbug, if we can’t beat you in rugby we can still wipe you in WvW and also have beaches that are relatively decent. Oh yeah, and thanks for the pic Covergirl.

Can SoS commanders please try and tell players not to exploit into other servers spawn areas. There are literally 8-10 SoS constantly jumping into our spawn up by the portals on SoS BL right now. I know there’s not much they can do, but if they hear about it, please tell them to stop.
Main offenders at the moment are players from AFS and QH. Quaggan heroes and I forgot what AFS stands for.
While it is not an exploit to make it up into spawn, walljumping into it is. While you can’t actually kill players in there, you can troll them by killing seige (unmanned golums) and vendor NPC’s. If you have evidence that is credible, please send it directly to arena-net and contact the GM’s of the guilds involved.
Keep up the good work SoS, I think we can win this week!
there is zero possible way SOS can win this week based on PPT. It’s mathematically impossible….
